astora's straight sword
I rush lightning spear and then do a faith chad run.
God the fall off on that sword sucks. Good for early game at least.
I've never tried it but what's a good Faith option for mid-to-late game? I assume Grant is good but I'm not sure if the Astora's SS would carry that far into the game.
Blacksmith hammer
>Yearn
>Slumbering Dragoncrest Ring
It was constantly Claymore for me and I still hold the Claymore as a quick check in new souls games.
Winged Spear
I see that i am in good company.
Uchigatana. I'm sorry, bro...
the uchigatana demands a sacrifice!
>rush black knight
>restart if it doesn't drop the halberd
Great Club.
>tranquil walk of skill
claymore for mobs iato for bosses
Here's my top 5 funpilled weapons
>Black Knight Greataxe (most fun and most broken)
>Claymore (perfect moveset, quintessential dark souls)
>Balder Side Sword (dex claymore)
>Iaito (samurai attacks fun)
>Zweihander (slam dick enemies straight into the fricking ground)
Morningstar
Demon's great Hammer.
Large Club
>Gravelord Sword
Why though? All the others are pretty good immediately and for the long term but isn't this one kind of shit?
I dislike it personally since the moveset is kind of slow, but it's not actually bad.
I guess it's base damage and toxic carries it? The scaling seems really not worth it but I've never tried using it.
Base damage yeah. Toxic barely works since it's such a slow weapon. I used it for most of a playthrough once and didn't have much difficulty even if by the end I was really tired of using it.
Fair enough.
you can get nearly all of the required upgrade materials for it in like 30 minutes so it does shitload of damage very early on
If you're doing that speedrun shit where you zip all around memorizing where every needed shard is then what does it matter you're already breaking the game in half. May as well play new game plus if you want it so easy.
it's fun though, my best time is 2hs 30m
Gravelord is busted early game and scales ok into late game.
Most of Ganker goes for the dragon tail for sure
There's like six dragon tail weapons.
Don't be pedantic, you know which dragon tail he's talking about
No one uses the Drake Sword except maybe their first playthrough if they don't know any better, don't be daft.
nta but you're the one that's being daft, and indeed pedantic
It's trash, though? I don't know why people use the damn thing, it's good for all of maybe two or three areas when you can first get it and then it's worthless unless you waste Dragon Scales on it.
it IS not that good, and that's why anon here
was trashtalking Ganker. get it now
>I bet Ganker gets a weapon that everyone knows is shit
Okay? Good job I guess.
Doesn't change the fact that it's the most recognizable dragon tail weapon for a majority of players
and only one that's easy to get i nthe first hour
>He doesn't rush Ash Lake via Master Key'd Blighttown first thing
NGMI
In all seriousness I don't even know if anyone actually does that.
Oof i kinda dont wanna do that but also do
For me? The Halberd, upgrading to the Gargoyle's Halberd if the Bell gargs drop it.
i kill everything with the bandit axe then dragon's tooth. it takes me 1 hr 30 mins to beat the game
Starter Sword and Shield
> Get to Firelink
> Ignore Cavel the Hock and proceed to forest
> Farm golems or kill hydra with firebombs if lazy for Crest
> Open door, run to cat, join cat
> De-aggro hunters and talk to samurai bro
> He moves to Blighttown
> Find him, buy Demon's Spear
"Limelight" by Rush
lucy. going full poise lord with it and leo ring was so fun in pvp. yes, i will eat your zwei r1. now say goodbye to half your health.
For me it's Falchion
Bastard Sword and Halberd
>Dusks Crow
>Ivory Catalyst
>Bellowing Dragoncrest Ring
It's g*ming time
Large Club or Great Club. It's just funny to kill Gods with a big dumbass hunk of wood.
BKH. If it doesn't drop, regular halberd sadface.
Claymore because I'm a subhuman Anglo-Celtoid obsessed with history so seeing ancient British weaponry gets me harder than Nuada's silver hand.
>balder side sword has a .1% drop rate
Haha, frick you.
I got one by accident and it carried me through the game
It’s my favorite straight sword they ever made.
And silver knight’s spear is my favorite spear. Both amazing DEX weapons you have to farm for an hour.
No just 1% or 1/100 which isn't too bad at all. Can get it in an hour or 2.
I swear it's drop chance is scaled by your strength stat. I always get at least 2 when I don't go dex
Rapiers or spears.
I'm a block+attack gay.
The uninstall wizard
The zweihander lets me 2 shot capra after reaching +5 and kill both of his annoying dogs in one swing.
this is the same reason why i like zweihander. i still dk how to deal w/ the dogs otherwise lol
Elden ring will never feel the same way, all weapons of a category have the same exact moveset, it's only a matter of whichever has the most broken weapon art
No one is talking about Elden Ring here anon.
Since this is a DS thread and I don't want to make another one I'm gonna ask here.
I completed DS1 and loved it a lot, just finished getting every achievement.
Which one should I play next? I know the obvious answer is DS2 but I hear DS3 is more of a sequel to DS1 than DS2 is, more story references and all that.
Either, really. There's continuity between 2 and 3 but it's kind of minor and not really worth worrying about. I'd say do 2 first if only because doing 2 after experiencing the QoL improvements of the later games is going to feel janky as hell.
Bloodborne or Demon's Souls are the other good ones
If you don't have a PS4, guess you're playing Demon's Souls on RPCS3. But Bloodborne really is great. If you and I believe hard enough it might be ported to PC within the next 5 years.
ds2 is like a spinoff in a different universe.
ds3 is a direct sequel to ds1.
ds2 is not referenced a single time in ds3. All of the ds2 items that were in ds3 had their descriptions changed to match ds1 lore. ds2 is essentially not canon.
Vendrick is indirectly mentioned.
indirectly, and they are described as a completely different person than who as depicted ind ds2.
FromSoft was obviously very ashamed of ds2.
And Lucatiel and Mirrah are directly mentioned and Creighton is an invader npc with functionally the same backstory. There's probably other examples.
Mirrah is only mentioned in the phrase "Mirrah Knights", Lucatiel is mentioned in a single easter egg item from the trade crows. Creighton might as well just be an easter egg too since he is a hidden invader. If they weren't ashamed of DS2 they would have made a sequel to it that didn't hide or retcon every reference to its predecessor.
Or they just couldn't be bothered to include more references. None of the above indicates that DaSII is not canon.
They couldn't be bothered because they wish it didn't exist lol
Anor Londo in its entirety was in DS3, The word 'Drangleic' does not appear once.
I mean if they didn't want to acknowledge DaSII or render it non-canon they wouldn't have included those things at all, or at least rewrite them and change the names completely. Whatever.
>didn't want to acknowledge DaSII or render it non-canon
no they can't they already named the game Dark Souls 2, they aren't going to retcon the title of the game. if they ignored it completely people would complain, as much as they would like to.
>if they ignored it completely people would complain
>Implying FromSoft give a frick about that shit
Kek. Now who's reaching?
> which is why earthen peak appears in the dreg heap
Oh yeah, forgot about that. Even has those dumb pillbug enemies.
>Anor Londo in its entirety was in DS3
objectively false
>The word 'Drangleic' does not appear once.
the drang items are clearly drangleic references.
also lothric and lordran are the same place eras apart, while drangleic is specifically stated to be a far away land. which is why earthen peak appears in the dreg heap, a place from ds2 that does get named in ds3. so ingame lore will mention lordran, because obviously its right there, theres less info about drangleic since it could be on the other side of the planet for all we know and the people of lothric might know little to nothing about its existence.
Try ds2. If you hate the first hour or two, don’t be afraid to skip it. It doesn’t get better. Then play ds3 which you will like.
After that if you still want more, you will like Elden Ring. Try bloodborn if you think “dark souls but every fight is the capra demon” sounds fun. Demon souls if you really want more.
DS2, it still has the same world concepts but with a twist. DS3 is more direct, but fall into the trap of 'member this? 'memeber that?
Baller Swag Sword all day
Don't forget the Lucerne, OP
EpicNameBro used to shill this weapon all the time but it alwas felt like a shit version of the Halberd to me. Am I missing something?
It has sweeping attacks but they all deal thurst damage so it benefits from counter damage and the leo ring.
Man, it's sad that what happened to EpicNameBro
I think he is doing okay now.
I am glad he did not kill himself.
It still hurts... He's making his own game now though
>it alwas felt like a shit version of the Halberd to me
It kind of is. It trades the range of the halberd to only trust attacks, but the best attack of the halberd is already a thrust attack. If it did more damage it would be worth it.
Bkgs drop or restart
Unless its for pvp then great club
Lucerne which is also available immediately
Longsword.
I started playing Remastered the other day and managed to get the Black Knight Greatsword from the guy in the Undead Parish tower. I was so excited I grinded like crazy to two hand it but now I’m not sure how I feel. It hits like a truck but I’m not a fan of how painfully slow it is.
Drake sword or one of the black knight weapons if I get lucky
