Most of it, really. Not many flaws other than the usual problems the series has, and there were plenty of improvements like Pokeride, graphical updates, and seperating the map from a grid.
You can easily tell how good they are when desperate bait like
Can only list minor harmless changes or just blatantly lie about what's actually in the game.
>graphical updates, and seperating the map from a grid.
weren't improvements and Alola was so much less colorful than ORAS that they needed to fix it in USUM and they only fixed it slightly.
They tried to go full 3D and move away from Chibi on 480p hardware.
Pokéride was terrible. Getting gifted Pokémon you can't even use in battle goes against the core principles of the series. There wasn't even much of a need for them because the level design was just horrible straightways between towns with little to none dungeons and puzzles. At least have a boss fight against the Rideable Pokémon beforehand like a few did in PLA.
Just because you don't like HM's does not mean the solution is good.
For me Pokéride and losing the grid are straight downgrades. I've never understood why people b***h so much about HMs because I've always appreciated them as effective game design that links battles and the overworld together mechanically. Grid movement is just a hard preference for me and I believe was the critical step in what ultimately killed the games for me, totally overworld Pokémon and no random encounters.

Imagine being such a brainlet that you're purposefully involved in a series that is centered on cartoon animals, but also you get mad and seethe when you see cartoon animals.
story than other Pokemon games on 3DS
The story was fine in SM before USUM "fixed" it with unnecessary additions and changing Lusamine's character. It was still miles above XY and ORAS with their "villain with 'good intentions' is about to end the world".
I am just sick of you fricking pe-dos shilling your shitty useless pokegirls in every thread, where nobody cares about them
hang yourselves, you will never ever have sex, specially not with a little girl.

Yes, and Lucario was a mistake. So why do they keep on making it again?
Game Freak creates other furgaymons to stop Lucario, but they don't know that furries will always ship them with Lucario, increasing his popularity instead
Good music

Raising the bar one last time, before quietly sinking into lazy mediocrity thanks to GO revitalizing the franchise >last time we got to use every pokemon in a single game >last time side areas/dungeons were a thing >thought out routes and character building before a deluge of baby's first ubisoft """"open world"""" and cardboard cutout characters >bringing back megas alongside z moves rather than abandoning ideas >sadly the most stylized mainline game to date >sadly the best story we've had so far >actually cares enough about their native starters to give them specialized Z moves rather than sideline them for kanto pandering like in gen 6, 8, and 9 >last time a pokemon game actually felt like a pokemon game, rather than pandering to bandwagoning GO players >last time they made an effort to branch out by ditching the tired gym format for actual boss fights, something they try and fail to replicate with raids >give artists top tier designs to work with, both with pokemon and characters >brought life back into the anime >was overall a swan song before the series truly sank into a mediocre swamp, sadly beginning as early as UsUm

Normies I know adored these games because "muh pokemon formula was stale and these tried something new"
I think they've become accustomed to moviegames and like the cutscene spam
I did like was the Lillie/Lusamine story in SM (frick USUM).
Only other positive thing I guess I can say is I recall the pokemon variety in the region being decent, everything else was pretty lackluster
>otherwise it marked the beginning of a decline
By being a small peak attempting to drag the series back up from gen 6's crash, yes. It is technically where the next drop starts.
Never played but I know they tried really hard on making an interesting story like Gen 5 and it flopped miserably imo. Team Skull and Guzma are alright but all the other characters suck.
It was better than Gen V's story, BW/2 was cheesy melodrama, something I'd expect from some lameass Final Fantasy title. Lusamine and Lillie's relationship was handled way better.
Gen 5 story was much worse, just a rehash of Team Rocket with worse characters and a fake PETA veneer that was never explored in any interesting or satisfactory fashion. It also gave us the ultimate fujobait Gary Stu, N, an easy contender for worst character in the franchise.
This is the opinion I would expect from a bort who admits to not playing the game though, lol

The story and characters were very memorable and gave us the best Pokegirls in the series.
How the frick was the story worse than in XY? Alola haters are braindead.
Even if you don't see the story as boring it still takes way too much time to skip trough.

Lillie is eternal. Cheap clones like Marnie and Nemona just don't compare.
>clones
Why are Lilliegays such morons?
Marnie and Nemona are clones in the sense that they're girls designed to look cute and be highly marketed. However, they just don't compare to Lillie.
Except they're doing this since gen 5, your Lillie isn't different.
lillie is eternally in the trash compactor.

that's lillie. she's useless, annoying, way too many cutscenes, basically armin arlert but she never gets turned into a titan
Being significantly more ambitious and well-made than gen 4 and 5, which is why it continued the trend of revival gen 6 started.
