plenty of mentally ill arpg fanatics have made videos about what they dont like about D4, half of their complaints are probably lucid and half of that might even be true. I would sift through that for a real answer.
>soulless blizzard that was bought out by soulless activision that is currently getting bought out by soulless microsoft >releases a soulless game
really makes you think!
Not really, lol. It's simple when you write it out or have watched the descent through madness. It's a shame. Haven't been a fan of their games since WC3... WoW was never my favorite MMO, either.
Blizzard believed the way to satisfy the diablo fanbase was to listen to the metagame autists who don’t actually enjoy the game but just have a dopamine addiction to all the little mechanics
so what was got was yet another soulless action “RPG” where the world and story & setting are all basically unnecessary because the real game is just about feverish mouse & keyboard tactile stimming & “builds” and playing through the game over and over again and “le seasons”
of course you will never be able to satisfy people who talk about drop rates and nonsense like that
meanwhile all real humans with souls are totally left on the curb wondering why this monstrosity calling itself an action RPG has so much weird shit going on
you log in “oh uh did you know that there’s actually a new season so should make a new character now” message pops up
make a new character homie what the frick are you talking about i already made a character
give me a break
>its that one autist who doesnt understand how seasons work and it scares him
Anyways, real talk. My normie friends and family all loved D4. no idea why they quit, didnt ask. Did patch nerf stuff? I heard a lot of people didnt like how the patch made things grindy, idk. i didnt even buy but ill give my impressions from the beta and watching friends play for like 10 mins.
story was tedious. just in the intro im talking to the same npc like 4 times AND waiting for them to walk from A to B just to give me a quest, the first quest. Devs need to learn to simplify the story mechanics in an action game, an (A)rpg. why not just have me talk to the guy once then meet him at tavern after?
too many things to pick up. because of the crafting and break down system it looked like you had to pick up way too much shit. in D2 even white items could be good drops but it still seemed like you picked up less in that game. D4 looked needlessly tedious
itemization itself wasnt very interesting. %damage when near % damage when far, vulnerability etc. its really not as interesting as say 3 fire absorb, 20% mf, 20 light radius. yes i know people knocked MF but those people are morons.
>>its that one autist who doesnt understand how seasons work and it scares him
what is there to not understand. it’s a mechanic built for the people who need to feel rewarded for speedrunning the game and playing RPGs “competitively”. but it just fractures the community and kills the playerbase of the non-seasonal game. it’s the same reason MMOs suck now, obsessive competitive players who are literally playing the wrong game complain the loudest so devs gradually redefined the genre with mechanic changes to please those people. but they are never happy anyways
if blizzard had done any of the things you said, it would be a good game. the game was designed for casual normies and ignored actual fans of the genre. the issue is that normies don't stick around, so when its FOTM was up and all the normies left, they had no one left because they alientated all of the actual arpg/diablo-like enjoyers.
Literally none off that was what happened dipshit.
The problem with D4 is there's literally nothing to do after the campaign except Nightmare Dungeons. Even Helltides fall by the wayside after awhile.
They were fricking stupid for not having Season 1 just be the startof the game and last for longer. No one wanted to restart their characters except for the sweaty streamers. Casual players never came close to finish levelling by the time S1 dropped. Which is just as well because everything late game is garbage with terrible itemization and a boring gameplay loop of dungeons designed to be busy work instead of fun.
I thought the image was some outdated cherry-picked screenshot but I just checked Twitch and it really got to that point now.
But you are wrong if you think that Blizz gives a shit about popularity.
All they want are a few loyal whales to suck on their teats and give them enough money to repeat the cycle.
The entire reason Diablo 3 and Diablo 4 are shit is because muh endgame, moron. Instead of making the ACTUAL game good like Diablo 2, they think catering to a tiny minority of "muh endgame" autists is what will make the game good.
duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuude..................like..............like....the atmosphere is so dope........................and....like.....the """""""itemization"""" totally makes me think all real deep and the cutscenes are amazeballs and and the story really got me through a rocky time in my life. I love DIABLO TOOOOOOOOOO WUBBA LUBBA DUB DYUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUB
god isn't real.
without endgame the game has no legs moron. normies drop it the instant they beat the campaign (most of them don't even get that far) no matter how good you make the gameplay or anything else. these kinds of games MUST be made for endgame long haul autists or they fail as soon as a new flavor of the month comes around. diablo 4 DOES NOT have a deep, complex, and satisfying endgame or really any of its systems at all, which is why nobody gives a shit about it after beating the campaign.
it's not quite that they haven't learned. it's more that they are fundamentally incapable of understanding or learning, because these companies are run and staffed by normies themselves, not passionate nerds who spent their entire youths inventing these elaborate systems. normies will never make a good game. they're simply incapable of it.
The part that I don't get with Diablo 4 is not why it's dead so soon after release but why there wasn't a massive wave of refunds before release.
I didn't even have much hopes considering it's current Blizzard but after playing the free demo weekend it was obvious the thing was garbage.
How the frick did people not see all the massive warning signs from the fricking demo?
it's just kinda..boring I thought 3 was bad but I forgot I even had 4 til I saw this post. I don't think I even unlocked the mount coz I got so bored, it seemed novel at first with the open world and events but idk it's just kind of like a shitty mmo
Is this game even profitable?
Why do Blizzard keep making garbage stupidly designed woke games that make them lose money?
If they make a non-woke good game, it will break records.
Not on Steam. When BG3, Starfield and Cyberpunk 2077 (with patch 2.0 and the new DLC) are at the forefront of every gamer PC, they quickly forget there's something else to play on Battle.net
They already admitted making CoD exclusive to Battle.Net was a mistake, I wonder why they didn't bring Diablo to Steam too
What they did right: >lots of appearance customization for your character >went back to having a more muted palette (even though they kinda overdid it) >cross-platform play, something I wish 1000x more games would do >
What they did wrong: >raised the price to $70 >fleeced a bunch of idiot normalgays, tricking them into buying the game for $100 for basically no added reward >no content >everything else. They fricked up nearly everything that can be fricked up
Just dropping by to say that this game has a sick OST. I don't really care about Diablo at all, only played/finished 2 and didn't really enjoy it, so I have no skin in this at all. I skimmed the thread though and didn't see anyone giving D4 credit for this.
Blizzard lied and said they were gonna deliver a D2 gaming experience, they delivered a stripped down and shittier D3 builder/spender gameplay experience no one wanted with worse itemization than D3, who the frick would willingly pay for that, shittier D3 with a darker filter and no one to play with
I just don't understand this new concept that a game has to be fun forever otherwise it's a failure, you play a game, you finish it and then you move on to the next game, THAT'S HOW IT IS, Diablo 4 is a good game but obviously you are not going to play it more than 100 hours.
Thing is, back when Blizzard was competent, we could expect that from them. Replayability does matter to a lot more people than you'd think. As does the excitement of finally getting a gear piece after hunting for it for a while. Those games had incentives to play them. That's the difference.
>what went so wrong for Diablo 4?
everything
microtransactions
>there are morons who fall for blizzard scams in 2023
grim

Yeah and that's why all metagame autists (and everyone else) are playing PoE. moronic soccer mom.
Literally none off that was what happened dipshit.
The problem with D4 is there's literally nothing to do after the campaign except Nightmare Dungeons. Even Helltides fall by the wayside after awhile.
I love how D4 was doing well right up until the first season and it just crashed.
They were fricking stupid for not having Season 1 just be the startof the game and last for longer. No one wanted to restart their characters except for the sweaty streamers. Casual players never came close to finish levelling by the time S1 dropped. Dont people only whale for coomer shit? And D4s females are repuslive
Made by basically no one associated with Diablo.
wide as an ocean, deep as a puddle, as are all battlepass mmos.
it's really not even very wide. there's practically nothing to do and nowhere to go
theres no endgame so once you beat the campaign thats basically it. and most people finished the campaign by now
>theres no endgame
Crazy how companies still haven't learned that releasing a MMO/ARPG whatever without endgame is the fastest most surefire way to kill your game.
The entire reason Diablo 3 and Diablo 4 are shit is because muh endgame, moron. Instead of making the ACTUAL game good like Diablo 2, they think catering to a tiny minority of "muh endgame" autists is what will make the game good.

maybe this company doesn't have much experience with mmos
when mr llama is online he has more viewers for diablo 2 than the entirety of the diablo 4 section combined kek
theres no reason to play over other established games
once again, the game is in early access and will be "acceptable" 3 years from now
The part that I don't get with Diablo 4 is not why it's dead so soon after release but why there wasn't a massive wave of refunds before release.

Because 4 is just 3 except slower and with less builds or things to do
yea guess so..I enjoyed the 2 remaster though, was fun replaying 2 with friends not sure why they just didn't make it like that
They're hard at work making Diablo 5 and you will all buy it day 1.
Is this game even profitable?
Why do Blizzard keep making garbage stupidly designed woke games that make them lose money?
If they make a non-woke good game, it will break records.
They are woke company full of woke morons willing to work for dimes for their israeli overlords. They are incapable of making anything good.
Bad skill system. Bad item system. Battle pass bullshit.
>what went wrong with Activision slop
I have no idea.
>gets bought by microsoft
>flops
It was made by a modern blizzard
Guaranteed failure

If they bring their games to steam everyone will see how dead they are. OW2 on steam has 10k to 20k players.

a lot. but season 2 and the (paid) expansion packs will save it.
Why does classic d2 have more viewers than d2r? They fricked up didnt they?
Project Diablo 2 just got a new season start 2 days ago.
Blizzard were allowed to develop a game after release
Blizzard lied and said they were gonna deliver a D2 gaming experience, they delivered a stripped down and shittier D3 builder/spender gameplay experience no one wanted with worse itemization than D3, who the frick would willingly pay for that, shittier D3 with a darker filter and no one to play with

No endgame in an arpg isn't even a bad thing (baldurs gate on PS2 comes to mind) but no end game in fricking Diablo is just embarrassing
I dont even know what went wrong
it has good graphics and designs but there is just no hook
nothing makes me feel addicted or wanting to go back
