the devs never finished any content in time to keep up with even the slightest demand
it had a good concept and mechanics but never got updated in time to a full game
There's a video on YouTube that researches the development of this game indepth
But basically, big promises, crowdfunding, millions of dollars kick-started, too ambitious, the refund fiasco, promised release dates, then the company shut down.
The devs got so caught up in making 1000 menus they forgot to add actual gameplay between the menus and loading screens.
What made Skyrim and fallout fun for so many people was walking in a random direction and discovering things on your own. Not having to load into your shop fly Into orbit, chart a course, pick a destination, cutscene to a new planet, cutscene to the surface, eave your ship to find one raider base on the "planet". Now you have to backtrack though all those loading screens and me ues just to find another unsatisfying planet
Should have been a clear warning for the audience what to expect from Starfield, too. But between it and No Man's Sky at launch, nobody learned a lesson.
>all those removed weapons
i remember when they changed the weapons system and one of my lightning guns became invisible and kept its previous damage numbers/energy cost, so it looked like i was shooting insane damage lightning bolts from my fingertips
Two biggest problems for me was the procedural generation and the generic main story they forced into the game. They should have made the whole game encompass about 40 hand-craft worlds instead of infinite worlds with almost nothing to find on them.
Forcing devs to move to Bongland or frick off, child labor, constant mechanics changes nobody wanted or asked for resulting in massive amounts of wasted work, unpaid child labor, dead puppies, and making the procgen drink bleach so if you see one jungle planet, you’ve seen them all.
Promised too much, delivered too little, abandoned it soon after. One of the few games I know of where the beta and alpha had more content than the launched product.
They didn't add much reason to explore planets or set up colonies. Like you know certain structures and enemies will generate in certain biomes and that those biomes can be on certain kind of planets, but it's not like there's unique bosses or tools inside those structures or dropped by those enemies to go there for. Same goes for colonies: there's a system to attract certain npc types, but they don't have unique functions or provide unique rewards or have unique interactions.
Like what if each Avian Pyramid had a certain number of canopic jars, and when you have enough, you can go back to any one with a sarcophagas and summon a cybernetic Avian Pharaoh to fight. Maybe you're tasked to hunt a Grave Robbing Floran that treats the jars as a delicacy, so for the people who hired you to stop them, you not only have to find a pyramid, but also a jungle planet in the same star system to catch them before "they leave" (even though you'd really be summoning them, but whatever).
What if Colonies had events like kidnappings, invasions, droughts, or so on, so you'd be encouraged to recruit colonists that could solve problems or act a defense force, but some of them are pretty dang racist or otherwise have grudges. Like some of the unique guards and tenants already belong to contentious factions or are otherwise zealots.
Just feels half-baked. What's there is ok but you just have no reason to keep engaging in it.
So is frackin universe actually fun?
Heard there's other mods or settings to make the research grind less cancer which seems to be the only complaint people have with it
It's not fun. Just endlessly grinding or farming for shit while getting bottlenecked by the research. Even without research all of it's systems feel so disconnected from eachother that a lot of things in FU become pointless or redundant probably because FU regularly steals from other mods
>FU regularly steals from other mods
They're at least stealing good content from other mods, right??
So if FU is a bust then are any other mods worth my time or is the game just cursed
All they had to do was copy Terrarias progress system and make a main planet where your main base would be.
Do stuff on your main planet, explore other planets and defeat bosses there that unlock areas and biomes on your main planet.
Would have been a really good gameplay loop, but they basically just did le explore meme without anything.
holy frick this is accurate, the pointless exploration, the boring weapons, the complete lack of any reason to build a base, the terrible story and game long fetch quests, its all there
It took too long to release, by the time it came back nobody gave a frick. It also turned out to be a piece of shit game and everyone went back to terraria.
I remember enjoying it somewhat in the beta, then they pivoted and completely changed stuff.
Overall, it just didn't even approach Terraria's polish and content at the time, and the disposable world concept does not lend well to building, even though it had some nice building features.
It is sad how they wasted this game.
> moronic terraria artgay bails on re-logic and decides to make terraria but in space > surely they can't frick this up > years go by with increasinly coy dev updates > turns out aping terraria was harder than they thought
The "community manager" molly was cute tho, wonder what happened to her.

Frick this game
This game should have been a case study for starfield of what not to do.

it was the child labor

The game was largely made by a revolving door unpaid interns

They did Starfield before Bethesda did.

It wasn't as good as Terraria
What would it feel like to have sex with a novakid?
Pretty hot
Real

Quite literally everything except the music.
If you pulled out of a floran girl, would she still be able to get pregnant?
