that's just a greater problem of comics writing as a whole, it's a constant stream of writers coming in and working off previous writers which means you inevitably get "OH YEAH WELL I CAN DO IT BETTER" which leads both to general powercreep and the constant regurgitation of the same stories over and over except with gimmicks attached because new writers want to make things "their own," this goes hand-in-hand with the problem of constant recycling of IPs to bait out nostalgiabucks but then 5 seconds into the show you see the "new" protagonist and realize it's a thinly veiled attempt to shovel some hack's trash at you using something popular as a vehicle because it's name-brand

It's an uninspired, iterative sequel. That's basically it. The Symbiote did little to improve on gameplay, and if anything, the web wings kinda took away from it.
If anything the web wings struck me as using Spider-Man 2 as a general beta test for an Iron Man game. The flying in the Marvels Avengers game actually wasn't bad. Everything about the wings in this game improves on the flying mechanics in that game. While it's cool that its there...at the same time it really fricking isn't. Spider-Man swings and only glides in an god damn emergency and his wings are equipped. But in-game both Spider-Dorks are launching and flying around like maniacs with a savior complex.

The Arkham Batman games had similar combat throughout but I never really got that tired with it because at least there would be some escalation in the bad guys and levels. I didn't feel that here. Less content and the content we did get was poorly designed, ESG/DE&I shit. Couldn't even bring myself to swing around just fighting crime tbh because it started doing the same three crimes over and over.

They more or less made the same game but with worse writing. That still makes it a solid 7/10, but compared to the giant hits that came out this year, that's not going to earn you any awards.
On a personal level, I think they deserved to be ignored for how they treated the characters in the story. Peter got one game focused on him, in which the sequel was either dumping on his character outright or propping Miles up as a clear successor.
After one game. They're dropping Peter and acting like he's finally ready to move on. It's ridiculous. And yeah, I doubt Miles will completely take over if there's a another sequel, but still. The way it's all set up is really silly. The way they almost retire Peter makes it feel like he had been the main character for 6 other entries. But he got one.
Fricking dumb. I don't even have a problem with Miles, but dumping on your main protagonist and pushing him to the side after a single game felt ridiculous.

I'd still say the first game is mostly dedicated to Peter and his character. MJ and Miles were just extra bits to mix things up, which were terrible, but it didn't take away from Peter being the main focus. But yeah, then you get the Miles game that is just more of the same but worse, and now the sequel that is, again, more of the same but worse. How they managed that while bringing Venom into the mix is beyond me, but they managed it.
I just hate the idea that they spent an entire game dumping on Peter and pushing him to the side like he's ready to be retired. Character got a single game to himself and is the original Spiderman for frick's sake. Give it a minute, let Miles actually earn the role without just making him do everything Peter does, but better.

Give him moments that aren't just cleaning up after Peter's incompetence. Let him shine more like he did in the game dedicated to him rather than dumping on a character people like.
Like I said, I actually like Miles. But I don't like him when he's just there to show how Peter could be better. That makes Peter feel weirdly incompetent, and Miles' achievements less genuine.

Yet I'm managing well enough. Miles can be a more youthful, less responsible Spiderman. He's a kid at the end of the day, even more immature than Peter is, especially without the same tragedies that Peter experienced. The kind of mistakes he makes, the kind of solutions he finds, and the kind of strength he takes from those around him differ from Peter. Even if he was created to be a replacement, I'd argue he can be plenty different.

It does lead to differentiation. It means Miles gets everything handed to him and doesn't earn anything. The only question I'm asking myself is why on earth would black people celebrate a character whose existence is theft, hand-me-downs, and not earning anything?

The entire spider-verse sequel was focused on his father dying and setting up miles to be the one spider man who'll manage to save his father figure. They decide to center the plot of the two sequels to the movie that made Miles famous around muh-everyone that Spidey likes dies and they are gonna portray Miles as the super special character that shows everyone there's a better way. It's fricked up because the first spider-verse is a cool movie and its main message is that everyone can be a hero. Then they disregard it and set him up as a unique chosen one anomaly who'll be different from all the other gazillion spider people and do his own thing. Oh, apparently every spider man is ok with moral relativism and letting people die except Miles because that's how much of an incredible guy he is.
you couldnt make this game any gayer without actually seeing the wiener enter spidermans ass or mouth. scenes of grown men crying on their knees. glaring forced SJW tone of dialogue, characters literally saying shit like 'a diverse team' and Black folk talking about 'the community' in reference to a crime ridden Black person hellhole. Black folk talking about jazz musicians. Black person-Hispanic spiderman literally saying 'GIB ME DAT' when snatching weapons from enemies. IRL this Black person spiderman would be bullied hard by other Black folk. women vigilantes. it just doesnt get any worse. the story has no pacing. black suit spiderman chapters are big fan pleasers but the game blazes through this one to make more room for mary jane and Black person-Hispanic spiderman sections. miles is the magical steven-universe Black person mutt of the franchise and it gets really old really fast.

It's not fatigue. It's how the writers constantly shit on a beloved character and put a new one on a pedestal. Peter is often ridiculed and suffers multiple defeats that he must be rescued from by Miles and MJ. He gets corrupted by Venom and must be saved by Miles. He gets his ass kicked by Venom and must once again be saved by Miles. Miles then goes to defeat Venom easily. Peter decided to retire as Spiderman because Miles. The writers and developers have said they are going to focus more on Miles in the future.
The free money ride is over due to inflation they just don't realize it yet.
I'd expect to see a lot of this stuff get cancelled over the next ten years.

It's an uninspired, iterative sequel. That's basically it. The Symbiote did little to improve on gameplay, and if anything, the web wings kinda took away from it.
If anything the web wings struck me as using Spider-Man 2 as a general beta test for an Iron Man game. The flying in the Marvels Avengers game actually wasn't bad. Everything about the wings in this game improves on the flying mechanics in that game. While it's cool that its there...at the same time it really fricking isn't. Spider-Man swings and only glides in an god damn emergency and his wings are equipped. But in-game both Spider-Dorks are launching and flying around like maniacs with a savior complex.

On a personal level, I think they deserved to be ignored for how they treated the characters in the story. Peter got one game focused on him, in which the sequel was either dumping on his character outright or propping Miles up as a clear successor.
After one game. They're dropping Peter and acting like he's finally ready to move on. It's ridiculous. And yeah, I doubt Miles will completely take over if there's a another sequel, but still. The way it's all set up is really silly. The way they almost retire Peter makes it feel like he had been the main character for 6 other entries. But he got one.

Miles manages to get one to help out. Peter gets slammed by one of the villains? Miles takes them down. Allow Miles to have his own achievements separate from Peter's. Give him moments that aren't just cleaning up after Peter's incompetence. Let him shine more like he did in the game dedicated to him rather than dumping on a character people like.
Like I said, I actually like Miles. But I don't like him when he's just there to show how Peter could be better. That makes Peter feel weirdly incompetent, and Miles' achievements less genuine.

Even if he was created to be a replacement, I'd argue he can be plenty different.

It does lead to differentiation. It means Miles gets everything handed to him and doesn't earn anything. The only question I'm asking myself is why on earth would black people celebrate a character whose existence is theft, hand-me-downs, and not earning anything?
It is rather annoying that whenever Miles appears in a new continuity, the creators rush to make him equal to (but actually better than) Peter despite the latter having gotten where he is over the course of several years.

They decide to center the plot of the two sequels to the movie that made Miles famous around muh-everyone that Spidey likes dies and they are gonna portray Miles as the super special character that shows everyone there's a better way. It's fricked up because the first spider-verse is a cool movie and its main message is that everyone can be a hero. Then they disregard it and set him up as a unique chosen one anomaly who'll be different from all the other gazillion spider people and do his own thing. Oh, apparently every spider man is ok with moral relativism and letting people die except Miles because that's how much of an incredible guy he is.

It's not fatigue. It's how the writers constantly shit on a beloved character and put a new one on a pedestal. Peter is often ridiculed and suffers multiple defeats that he must be rescued from by Miles and MJ. He gets corrupted by Venom and must be saved by Miles. He gets his ass kicked by Venom and must once again be saved by Miles. Miles then goes to defeat Venom easily. Peter decided to retire as Spiderman because Miles. The writers and developers have said they are going to focus more on Miles in the future.
