Absolutely nothing.
The launch, honestly.
Season 1
No nudity
Chun li doesn't have children
Ryu still a hobo
>Chun li doesn't have children
>single mother
Not EVEN once.
She adopted the lil Chinese hacker grill
She's literally a single mom
Chun Li has a daughter, though
Nothing
Its a god damn master piece
Loading times and even though training has 6 difficulty levels on the single player there are only 3 bullshit (too easy, easy, too hard).
this, loading times even on a pc with an ssd are too long
They fixed loading time on PS5 luckly
I'm pretty sure they partly did it for the esports. I recall seeing some technical demonstration that the match doesn't even start loading until the pre-fight fanfare has finished so that comentators have time to hype the match. The spirit carried over to all modes, even single player ones, making arcade or story a slog.
And yeah, the AI is terrible in all difficulties, so it all comes down to either "it's super dumb and loses" or "it's super dumb but reads your inputs and does a murder combo on every hit-confirm".
launch was shit, now it's good if you like spreadsheets and only o.k. if you play for shits and gigs
Slow, shallow gameplay, netcode is ass.
nothing, its better than 4 and will be better than 6
What went wrong was capcom giving into Sony for exclusivity and then being forced to shit out a product that resembled an early alpha. It was absolutely broken at launch and almost killed street fighter completely
>What went wrong was capcom giving into Sony for exclusivity
I still don’t get why did they do that. Did Sony help with development or what?
Capcom unironically didn't have the money to make it so Sony put in money for console exclusivity. Even then they barely put out a functioning product. The game was also intended to be F2P by they decided against it shockingly close to launch. Certain early buyers in Japan got premium currency that was scrapped and had to be compensated with extra Fight Money or something. The reason was that Capcom really wanted the immediate cash flow of a full retail game over rushing trying F2P when they weren't doing well. The quarter after SFV launched was the first and only time Capcom has operated at a loss.
5 has had so few hype moments in its history. Only one that I could remotely think of was when tokido 6-0'd that Black person in grand finals.
Censorship of jiggle, supers and story mode. It was nice game fricked by censor.
The whole current western "culture"
Developed in the worst Era for Capcom both financially and creatively. The year after SFV launched they started swimming in money via RE Engine games and MH World that they used to keep it alive but the core game was so barren and flawed that even today after 6 years of work and a change in development team about 4 years in it's just good. Not great, not shit, but good.
Blackrock influence.
Hiring lazy fighting game competitors to work on balancing the game that they disliked and preferred anime fighters over.
