There was no better style they could've choose, realism would look weird and pixel art is just super Reddit at this point
The plastic toy feel of it is at least unique
>no better style they could've chose
Incorrect >the feel is at least unique
A lightning rod that guarantees a building fire rather than preventing one is 'unique', too.
They simply copied the game one for one in a super low effort manner and
>Added Black folk and minority soldiers >Absolutely Zero complex support for multiplayer(the real death blow) >They didn't fix the balance on some of the campaign missions that needed it(Eagle fight AW1) and simply copied it one for one
But also, the biggest sin was ignoring completely the already 20 years existing online community of advance wars, amarriner. They could have looked to them for inspiration when designing multi-player interface, rules and new modes. Also the balance changes they made over 20 years or so would have helped the multiplayer. But instead, they choose to make multiplayer the most barebones shit imaginable.
It was dead on arrival and the 20 year old version is better in every way because it doesnt have the fake plasitc cancer aestehtics or Tumblr art characters.
As someone who has played probably 50 some odd games of AWBW, it is super weird. Like, on the one hand it will leave some thing completely as is while others they balance the shit out of for no reason.
Not to mention it has bugs that the original games didn't have, especially in fog of war levels, like the AI's direct units being able to attack things indirectly.
I still don't understand why Mangs hasn't partnered with the Tiny Wars guy, we could have an advance wars clone that Nintendo can't sue and doesn't perform like shit(AWBW).
At least yours released so you HAVE a game to complain about. MST is looking less and less likely to ever see the light of day if it wasn't a scam in the first place.
Nintendo games are consistently overrated because Nintendo fans rarely play anything outside of the Nintendo ecosystem. It's essentially the game game just with a changed artstyle and the gameplay does not hold up. They spend years talking about how great these games are and nobody calls them out until they're re-released and people give them a try and finds out they're mediocre at best.
This remake was my introduction to the series and I've started getting really into wargaming since I bought it several months ago. I've since moved on to Unity of Command 2 and DC: Barbarossa, but I did enjoy the AW 1&2 remake immensely and I still go back to the war room missions every now and then.
I understand the remake itself is just a copy of the original and that fans of the original are mostly disappointed, but I think the game formula has aged well if a noob like me enjoys it.

Let's be realistic: yes, it cost them money to make and $60 would probably be a fair price...but....anyone can get 1 and 2 for free.
Remastering was a waste of money, they should have just charged quarter price $30 for what amounts to a switch emulating GBA.
nothing?
Full price and new art style was far worse

Yet another boring fricking remaster in a sea of them.

To be fair, most people like single player campaign, and awbw is autismus maximus
That said, Multiplayer does sucks ass

The word you are looking for is autism.
Say, it.
>ignoring completely the already 20 years existing online community of advance wars, amarriner.
Are they Japanese?
Well nintendo is.
That is moot because the studio in charge of the development was cuckaforinan.
Not to mention it has bugs that the original games didn't have, especially in fog of war levels, like the AI's direct units being able to attack things indirectly.
>like the AI's direct units being able to attack things indirectly.
Was watching that interview he had with a superposed way-forward tester. And I really want to hear that original Adder theme now.
Is like they hate money or something

two delays killed most of the hype that could've saved the game from (chances are) selling poorly.
>Delayed twice.
>Wasn't fully 2D.
>Online was shit.
I swear, this series is cursed
Not as cursed as:
MST isn't even out yet, and there's already problems.
I guess, but Advance Wars just seems to have especially terrible luck with its timing when it gets released
At least yours released so you HAVE a game to complain about. MST is looking less and less likely to ever see the light of day if it wasn't a scam in the first place.
>Why did thus cheap cashgrab made by one of the worst companies in gaming failed
You tell me.
they let westerners develop it

>Intsys' redheaded stepchild
It's never been a popular series, selling a 1:1 remake with bad art was always a losing venture

>remaster/remake/releasing-the-same-shit-again-and-charging-full-price
into the trash it goes
Should have just gone the Days of Ruin Way and have it set in a new world
it's on the switch
