Game Freak only giving a shit about one format is a problem but considering things like CHALK or Incineroar I don't think balance is their top priority
this, i wouldn't even hate the "all competitive pokemon is doubles" if they actually made the games focus on doubles play too, like the Gamecube games did.
Actually using doubles battling in the main game would be a good way to up the difficulty in the mid game. Too bad this will never happen since Gamefreak thinks its audience is mentally disabled.

The devs have no fricking clue what they're doing and to suggest that they do is laughable. Whether a gen is good in smogon or anything else is pretty much a complete fricking gamble, but at least Smogon actually bans things if the meta is just awful instead of just coping and pretending it's fine.
There's plenty that can be said about smogon, but whining that you can't use Tyranitar in little cup just makes you look like a massive homosexual. Smogons tier lists are great because they exist specifically so that the largest variety of pokemon have a chance of seeing play. There's nothing stopping you from using Venimoth in Ubers other than you yourself knowing it's a terrible idea.

How does Smogon work now that each gen only has a limited monster pool?
Like surely there are some broken or OP matchups or teams that are unaccounted for since certain pokemon haven't ever appeared alongside one another in the games
There's the SV singles that only includes mons available in SV, and there's the national dex singles that has every mon. Pretty sure they have different rulings
