1 was alright
2 was great, the best
3 was pretty good
4 was pretty good
Gat Outta Hell was alright
Agents of Mayhem was pretty good
A consistently fine series. Why does everybody act like only 2 was worth a shit?
Agents of Mayhem was a fun idea on paper with bad execution. They wanted to make an old Saturday Morning Cartoon into a video game, but it barely felt like one outside of the cutscenes.
Playing with the different combinations of heroes with their abilities and completing missions was fun. The villains had a kind of Venture Bros vibe which was also fun. I actually feel like playing it again some time this year.
literally everything one could think off >sjw zoomer centered game >all characters and story are terrible >don't understand what made their own fricking franchise fun and popular in the first place >buggy mess to this day, even after releasing dlc for it for some reason
I believe it was purely made as a money laundry scheme and to get investment from blackrock that will be used into something else.
it had the best tone and character interactions, the tone shift in 3 and 4 was too big, the series went from serious gangster shit with some funny random comedic stuff to focus too much on the funny comedic side of it. also going from gang shit to presidency was too jarring. they wrote themselves into a corner and there was nowhere else to go.
also >Agents of Mayhem was pretty good
no it fricking wasn't, it was fricking terrible
Are you telling me robbing a bank by skyjacking it with a helicopter then fighting your way out of a cargo plane, jumping out, fighting through falling debris, jumping back IN, then back out and fighting through falling debris AGAIN wasn't fun? Maybe you just hate videogames.
Fun fact. During this entire setpiece you described, your character is completely immortal and can't be killed, because the devs were too lazy to program a failstate for those setpieces.
3 could have been ”just OK” if it weren’t for the fact that the city in it is absolute goddamn soulless shit. It’s funny how Stilwater was also a rather generic city at start (although 2 added a lot of flavor to it), but it still feels much livelier than the collection of concrete towers that is 3. I mean, the tone shift in 3 was certainly for worse, but it was the environment that ultimately killed it for me.
It's amazing how studios have just squandered the opportunity to cash in on how stale GTA 5 has gotten. That game is TEN years old now, the market has never been hungrier for a decent GTA clone, yet the only studio to even remotely try and make a competitor was Ubishit. SR reboot almost feels like intentional sabotage. All the pieces were in play, yet they managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
The problem is that the current wokeness of western devs basically blocks them from making any game that dares portray any immoral behavior as fun or appealing.
>Reboot 00s franchise known for being crass and violent >Target audience is millennials and younger Gen X >Proceed to shit up the game with Gen Z shit like muh student loans and the ugly new Pride flag >Target audience no longer cares and Gen Z never cared
>Devs themselves UNIRONICALLY tried to say that Saints Row was always woke to defend the reboot >replay Saints Row 1 >I'M GONNA SKULLFRICK THAT b***h >replay Saints Row 2 >Shaundi being a walking STD factory bawd is like a solid 30% of the game's humor
Frick these new devs. Im glad they're getting restructured aka fired
Everything. Even discounting the writing the game is BAD.
>shooting is worse than ever >city is dead >NPCs barely exist, have no personality >city is better than Steelport, worse than Stillwater >rival gangs have no personality or actual characters to like or dislike
It's a shit game that would have flopped even if the writing was good (which it isn't). It's a completely by-the-numbers open world crime game, I hate using the term but it really does feel like a shitty GTA clone made by a team with 1/100th the talent and creativity of Rockstar North.

That shit was an unfinished co-op game with no co-op.

I fricking hate this meme.

Oh my science! That sounds so heckin EPIC AND AMAZEBALLS. Not to mention CUHRAZZY XD
I think that deserves an updoot

Fun......
Wrong. I know because I was playing on Hard difficulty and I did die.
le epizzzz
i love cutscene gameplay
SR3 isnt a bad game, it is a bad Saint's game. Volition shouldve treated it as a spinoff like Blood Dragon was to Far Cry

HUZZ-ACK
Black personhomosexuals
quite literally, everything.
Boring map, insultingly boring story, awful gameplay.

pandering to people who don't play video games

Saints row 2 was woke, but as a funny and unique gimmick and they didn't take it very seriously.
Modern games are unironically woke to please their cult.
An easier question would be to ask "what actually went right, if anything?"
Did anything go right?
The devs themselves wanted to kill it. blame microsoft
probably stuff like this

Volition being dishonest c**ts towards their fanbase
Painfully generic, empty, boring, uninteresting characters and loads of millennial writing.
