What went wrong? Could the short life span of this game been prevented? Who else should they have added to the roster?

I had fun, just add every single character from the 3 games.
I BURN
shitty recyclefest for too high of a price + dlc recycles
like kofxv
>What went wrong
They picked Yumi over Asuka
Rwby characters absurdly broken
No
More rwby characters
Yumi and Adachi were what was wrong with the game
Genuinely only existed because Mori wanted a RWBY fighter but got turned down so he suggested a crossover asset flip game with RWBY characters as guests instead.
No Koko, no buy
>Kokonoe's mom is playable
>Kokonoe's dad is playable
>Kokonoe's aunt is playable
>Kokonoe's slave is playable
Meanwhile even the Chinese knew she should be a priority character.
Koko's mom needs to be playable in Entropy Effect
sauce on that image?
Probably from that chinese roguelite
https://store.steampowered.com/app/2273430/BlazBlue_Entropy_Effect/ Its this
I hate how disconnected the BB characters feel from everything else happening in this game.
huh, actually looks pretty fun, shame it's an "Early Access" game, since i don't buy those as a rule.
this. I doubt i would've played CTB very much because i tried the beta and thought it was fricking terrible, but i would've bought it at least if they'd had the good sense to put in Kokonoe. Didn't help that the only other character i wanted in was Phonon from UNIST and she never got added either.
very fun game, but DBFZ mogged it
>open world fighting game
it was too ambitious
i just don't like autocombos and gutted movelists.
imo they should've been lazier and just copy pasted full blazblue & uni characters and left p4a for the autoshitters. it should've just been an official mugen project basically. you can't make tagshit accessible or scrub friendly and scrubs don't give a frick about any of the series included to begin with.
casualised to the point where all characters feel the same
Meanwhile the regular blazblue felt like playing a different game with half the characters in its cast. I miss that. A lot of fighters nowadays are too focused on their universal system and not enough on making characters unique.
The addition of Heart and Yumi was a mistake. There was no need to frick the game up that much worse with those two.
They should have honestly just doubled down on the Under Night and Akatsuki Blitzkampf.
We were supposed to get Asuka and Yumi and those homosexuals cut Asuka.
You know anon. If we cut Yumi then we can get revenge for Asuka's placement on the cutting room floor.
>blitzkampf
You know DAMN WELL the only reason they brought in Akat was because they had his UNIEL sprite and the only reason they put in Tank instead of any other humanoid was because Tank's animations were piss easy to do.
>What went wrong?
Pricetag. Should have been a $20 game
potent mix of the usual enthusiasm-killing fighting game developer greed and every new character addition being a strong dose of "who fricking asked for this?"
the individual characters felt bad to control, no one gives a shit about RWBY, the balance on launch was god awful, there was nonsense amounts of DLC, the comeback mechanic was frustrating, and the only cool thing about the game which was the cross combos and controlling two characters at once, which was the entire justification for the massive simplification of the individual characters, was something they didn't focus on very much in marketing or pre-release and takes a bit of experience to really appreciate so most people only experienced the surface level shallowness and dropped it before finding any of the cool stuff, and it's hard to blame them because when you pick your main from one of the main games and try them in training mode they seem like a pathetic shadow of themselves.
In defense of RWBY, I didn't care about it before but after playing with her Ruby Rose became one of my favorites.
I liked Senran Kagura before playing and Yumi ruined the entire franchise for me, frick that c**t. People already said it ITT but WHY NOT ASUKA? she's the fricking SRK poster girl Personally I'd want Daidoji tho .
Yumi and Adachi killed the game. The game just needed one more patch and it would've been fine.
I would seriously rather play version 1.5 with rollback instead if the option was available.
Anime fighting games are already a niche within a niche within a niche. I know people hate to admit this but unless you're dragon ball you need to fight for your life to get people into your anime fighting game. The numbers back me up on this.
Tiny base roster with ALLLL the dlc in the world coming out later that's, if you want to entice the rwby audience maybe start out with, idk, not just the R part? If you want to entice the P4 people maybe start with more than just 4 characters? If you're gonna make it a crazy crossover game with lots of different franchises, maybe start off with more than just 4 franchises?
A lot of bizarre choices that are a mix of assuming loyalty from every fandom involved while farming them for money while the fandoms involved don't have any reason to start playing this game over...Idk, the games they're already playing with more of the characters they already like?
They didn't even have all the BBCT characters and it has BlazBlue in the name...
Oh ye "Blazblue Crosstag" is also an awwwwfulllll name because the only people that are gonna know about this game to begin with are gonna be anime gamers and if you call it blazblue people are just gonna assume it's mainly just another Blazblue game ontop of the pile of existing BB games, which it's not.
Something like Arc Sys Cross Tag Battle would be more enticing because at least people would be like hmm "what kind of game is this?" before just writing it off entirely because they assume it's just BB.
Also like, where's Guilty Gear?
>Litchi
>Taokaka
>Bang
>Arakune
All absent. Literally 1/3 of the original cast omitted. I guess it's because the characters didn't fit into the homogenized gameplay system without completely gutting them.
I see no potential problems Tao would have with a tag system
What were they thinking?
>Who else should they have added to the roster?
Team CRME
Team JNPR
Raven and Crow
Ozpin Goodwitch Oobleck and Port
It's pitiful to make a crossover game and one of the IPs only has 5 reps.
it was a decent attempt
What went wrong?
Adachi
>What went wrong
Ragna didn't get a VN harem ending with sex and babies ever after
Pandering to wokeness
>Could the short life span of this game been prevented?
BBTAG would be alive if ASW kept supporting it. Despite everything GBVS had Rage & Cygames Cup in JP on top of a consistent season pass of characters and balance changes and that game kept it's scene no matter how small it became in the west. BBTAG got rollback at the very least but with no tournaments or company support it was destined to die. It's like if they made BBCT and just said frick it afterwards.
DNF kind of went through a similar fate, but at least Eighting spoke up about the future eventually.
Isn't official BBCF support dead too though? That still gets tournaments and shit but nobody wants to go back and play Tag even with rollback.
a babbytag tournament would be like 30 minutes long anon
RWBY instead of Guilty Gear.
>DLC selling you back characters
>Drip-fed content
>Busted ass assist system where your tag-in partner was invulnerable and this was easily abuseable for nearly the entirety of Season 1
>Has the hastiness that makes it more of a quick cash grab than a celebration of any of the series involved. Singleplayer content basically amounts to four arcade modes
>Essentially a solved meta with gameplay so uninteresting that not even rollback could save it
But I will hate BBTAG simply for introducing FILTHY FRICKING DUBgayS to my Under Night.
Heres to hoping UNI2 gets an EN dub.
Even if it does not like you need to listen to it in game, unlike classic Arcsys games that VA choice was only for your own character. Though I liked this for mirror matches especially.
Its because they are? Some point early on that one "cool" cape robot mentions the fighters being from another world. If its not enough that the Blazblue characters are in Japanese but the game's story is voiced in Chinese.
I'm morally against western dub voice acting for anime characters, especially younger female characters. The west will never understand moe.
adding rwby
wtf were they thinking
it was just asset flip trash anyways though
also project L is literally just BBTAG
Not being able to make his own RWBY fighter is the whole excuse as to why Tag was made.
And make some quick bucks to fund his gacha
I booted this up once and every character looked exactly the same and I beat the computer easily without doing any tutorials and just hitting buttons. Shits got no character and is an average fighting game at best.
I mean bbtag is shit but beating the cpu is not an accomplishment in any modern fighter
Give at least 3 attack buttons to allow for variety of moves and don't relegate alot of specials to autocombo sequences and assist-only moves.
MVC2 made tag games easier for casuals to pick up and play vs MVC1 going from 6 attack buttons to 4 attack buttons. Going from 4 attack buttons to 2 attack buttons that autocombo after the first hit is pretty annoying.
>What went wrong?
The button layout is completely moronic. They took beloved characters from 4-button games and essentially nerfed them into 2-button characters.
A button = A shitty mix of a character's light and medium normals
B button = A random mix of a character's heavy normals and special moves
C (clash) button = A more moronic version of GG's Dust button. 5C being a universal overhead that goes into a timing minigame that gets older after the first time.
And confirming combos don't even exist with the combo system. Poking with the B-button and just mashing that button to lock the enemy into an auto combo with little to no nuance with the timing or range. All of a character's creativity is sacrificed for abusing the tag/assist system.
That’s the point of it all though: the creativity comes from said tag system with the multiple ways to put both characters on the screen to make as much degenerate shit as possible
Yeah the degenerate shit is there but it clearly wasn't all that engaging with what you get to do AFTER getting hit. It all comes back to how the fricking buttons and combo systems are fricking stilted.
While getting hit you can use the tag bar to burst. Like the classic GG and BB, that also leads to the burst-bait mini game
Or, you can spend meter to pushblock or DP to stop the mixup. But since they’re mapped to the same two-button command, it also leads to a second burst-bait minigame
Or do what the note says and air block, which you can option select
I'm talking about the combo that comes after landing a hit, anon. I'm complaining about how it's more fun prying people open than actually doing your combo because there's only so you're so limited.
They simplified the movesets as the game wants you to overlay characters on the screen. So it’s less on doing combos and more on doing team strategy.
I understand that.
And I don't think it was worth it.
As someone who watched shit like MvC3 Morrigan turn games into a bullet hell minigame, or combo systems are the least of my problems
BBTAG's lack of any loyal players seem hilarious while MVC3 got to come back in full swing this year. Clearly it had more problems than just bad online.
it’s crazy to compare how good dante and vergil feel in mahvel to arc’s tagshitter games where every character is the exact same and the only ones that aren’t are bad
Comparing anything in TAG to Dante is just unfair, man. Dante feels like Eighting wanted to make DMC3 Dante a fighting game character and then built MVC3 around him with how many fricking options he has.
>Zero and Vergil on deck
NOW I'M MOTIVATED
YOU'RE GOING DOWN
I NEED MORE POWER
i seriously don’t understand who was the target for a game where you don’t do magic series but have unseeable left/rights
he cant keep getting away with it
Tag game players. Watch some of the popular games in the genre and you begin to realise that they run on pure degeneracy, either through oversight from or from the simple fact most gamers can’t handle a 1 vs 2+ characters on the same screen
This post is what Project L is going to be.
They're doing all the same things bbtag did to make it as newcomer friendly as possible, and the gameplay is going to be just as fricked up as bbtag and it will come and go just as fast as a result.
Depends if they’ll put in a block button or not since no beginner would want to deal with a front-back mixup from a sandwich situation
Or worse a big body covering a screen with the point character uses it to hide their high-low mixup
>full invuln gordeau grim reaper assists
kusoge
The biggest problem this game had was calling it BLAZBLUE cross tag battle and marketing it as the next installment of the series.
Also it needed at least one more Arcana Heart character.
i feel like million arthur was a lot closer to what i actually wanted out of this game, or like dengeki with an actual tag system
It was fine but lacked depth.
Anyone could see it wasn't going to last long term.
Nobody seems to want to go back to it either.
No one even offers lobbies while we still get occasional CF lobbies.
Who's the best rwby and why is it Weiss?
>Ruby: Annoying c**t with bad protagonist syndrome
>Yang: Butch dyke
>Blake: Worst fricking character
>Weiss: Completely stereotypical anime ojou character who gets put in her place a lot
Working off tried and true archetypes save Weiss but that's not saying much when the others come close to being offensively annoying.
not having the rooster complete at launch and them wanting to charge extra gave it bad rep and the game never recovered.
people were mad for weeks before launch. too bad cause I think the game actually brought some good things.
>2 button gameplay
not even worth an hour of play.
Not only did they just copy paste the sprites which looked terrible, they couldn't even get all the characters from the respective games, and it was over priced, and it didn't even have the gimmicky co-op mode most tag games have.
