the thing is, it filtered the journos that shilled alan wake 2 and didn't had depravacy like BG3, also they didn't changed the game's OG core and mechanics and this also filtered zoomers
only fricking IGN of all things gave a high score. 9
I saw lots of folks talk it up. I just didn't care. I got into the series with 2 and while I'm glad System Shock 1 exists I kind of don't really care for it.
Do you think a game would survive long on video game gossip board that isn't controversial or massively hated.
Dead thread on Ganker is a sign of a good game that was fine
Were is my female protagonist that was promised in Kickstarter, devs?
Why do you care about a silent protagonist's gender on a FPS?

What went wrong? I didn't hear anyone talk about it.
It was fine. Weapons have a severe lack of feedback, and the end fight is pure cancer. Never played the original so I can't say if it's too faithful or not faithful enough, but that end area needed to be different regardless.
I thought the protagonist was female? I coulda sworn there were some cutscenes when you died and stuff that showed a female body. Seemed inconsistent anyway.
coming in the next major update sometime early this year along with the console release and a new end fight to the game along with combat changes for a lot of stuff
one of the rare remakes made by people who actually cared and well worth a playthrough
infinite (coupled with everyone shitting in 2) feels like the biggest industry wide gaslighting ever. back then i was still a normalgay consoomer and i could still tell how much of a downgrade it was. everyone also loved the dlcs and said they made the game better, but for me they outright broke everything even more
Nightdive did want to reboot it into their own thing instead of strictly following the original, but everyone shouted at them for it and they caved. Running out of money also probably helped.
Though it kinda serves them right for failing to make it clear what they were planning to make when they kickstarted it.
Aside from nostalgia bait, it didn't have a lot going for it. If you just wanted to be reminded of the original, then it was great since it was a mostly faithful recreation of Citadel.
For everyone else, it's a pretty middling game. Not necessarily bad, but nothing to make it stand out.
It was pretty positively received on release and got a decent level of discussion. Most people had their fun with it and moved on, can't really expect much more from a relatively faithful remake of an already 20 year old single player game.
The devs lied about respecting the original then did a 360 on several issues and disappointed an already sceptical audience. I guess it never recovered.
They botched the finally level. It used to be a HR Geiger nightmare level, which was perfect for Shodan. Now its a generic space ship level.
They also fricked up the mixing of Shodan's voice but thats a smaller issue.
I dunno. When games start escalating things they always frick up towards the end. That Geiger level was one of the few exceptions. It was like I was rushing to get off the ship before it exploded and the suddenly the world stopped and got quiet and creepy.
why do you think something went wrong?
there was a lot of threads about it on release and most posts were positive. it's approved Ganker-core
Shock games are old design by now. Games markets are saturated. Unless it's an industry breaking hit, it's going to be forgotten rather quickly.
It ddn't went wrong in NOTHING AT ALL

Bad controler scheme.
Plenety of threads on release, people loved it, but it's a single player game, people completed it, what more do you want.
Waiting for the SS2 remaster now.

We had threads for a couple weeks and then anons beat the game and moved on. Excellent game btw.
I'm just waiting for the patch that fixes the achievements this month.
Nothing, it was very good. There just wasn’t much to talk about past the first month of release.
It was great except for the final boss and backer logs
Prey 2017 was better
Nah
Yeah
frick no, not with those aesthetics and that shit story
Do you think a game would survive long on video game gossip board that isn't controversial or massively hated.
Dead thread on Ganker is a sign of a good game that was fine
patch 2 taking 8 months to release
Were is my female protagonist that was promised in Kickstarter, devs?
patch 2 read the Kickstarter patch notes
Which brings me to my next question, WHERE IS MY FEMALE PROTAGONIST, DEVS?

Didn't the publisher kill all the game support for fricks and giggles and the patch is essentially abandonware?
What you bored of baiting Fallout and Silent Hill threads?

So Sysyem Shock remake does not have those awful 3D puzzles like the original?
all in all it was a pretty good remake BUT like all remakes it should never have been made and instead should have been a new game
Nightdive did want to reboot it into their own thing instead of strictly following the original, but everyone shouted at them for it and they caved. Running out of money also probably helped.

nothing? Was a good game. Just unfortunate that the devs just straight up abandoned it after launch. still no bug fixes for months now.
Nothing. It’s a good remake that filtered morons.
It was a competently made remake
You expect v to talk about a well made remake that respects the source material? Lol
Aside from nostalgia bait, it didn't have a lot going for it. If you just wanted to be reminded of the original, then it was great since it was a mostly faithful recreation of Citadel.

They didn't casualize it enough so everyone but the 5 boomers that played it back then got filtered.
It was obviously garbage from day 1 and everyone refunded it.
If it’s not talked about here then something obviously went right.
It was pretty positively received on release and got a decent level of discussion. Most people had their fun with it and moved on, can't really expect much more from a relatively faithful remake of an already 20 year old single player game.
too hard for zoomies and game journos

The Bridge I could live with but the final "boss" was the worst offender
Total wet fart to round out an otherwise solid remake
I dunno. When games start escalating things they always frick up towards the end. That Geiger level was one of the few exceptions. It was like I was rushing to get off the ship before it exploded and the suddenly the world stopped and got quiet and creepy.
It's old school by design so it filters zoomers with short attention spans
