the problem is that these game start at Diablo II Hell levels and then proceed into Dark Souls territory where you're dodging bullet hell while your passives/safe actives slowly take care of the enemies
PoE makes Souls look like fricking connect four after a certain point. You either have the means to acquire mad currency in trade league and just make a build that is an impenetrable chad. Or you know the intricacies of every stat and how to build your character. And even then
>corrupted blood >nemesis mods >adding spell suppression instead of just making their game not a blatant fricking mess.
The game is for people who suck their own dicks now on the fact that they killed the NEW BIG HARD BAD THING. Who gives a shit about the league mechanics they release when all they do is put stock into bosses 90% of the playerbase will never beat.
Mostly this, too many systems making it inaccessible to people wanting to jump in and enjoy it. It's too dense for people that love the genre, but can't be bothered reading into how to benefit from each system to learn to progress a character.

I assume this is veteran talk, but as a new player I'm having a fricking blast discovering all the systems and mechanics.
It's like it never ends.
>It's like it never ends.
It also never goes anywhere. Your goal in the game is to make a build that makes you interact with it as little as possible then just play the gameplay equivalent of cookie clicker until you get tired of meaningless grinding. It's a very tiresome game and GGG doesn't seem to know where to go with it.
Name one aRPG game which gameplay does not revolve around mindless grinding.

Lost Ark is simultaneously a grind-fest and a game with a coherent combat system that elevates it above the "cookie-clicker with extra steps" tier PoE is in.

It's certainly light-years ahead of PoE and PoE 2. Keep coping, though.

>I visit this shithole daily
Your brain rot makes that apparent. You probably play PoE daily as well.
You're the type of player the game was deisgned for. There are many people who think they have to like the game because it is popular and become disappointed when they realize the game expects high commitment.
It's mostly a trade problem that you will realise after you get more efficient. In SSF, most mechanics have a good reason to be there, but partaking in all of them turns the game into a second job. I feel like they're designing the game more for SSF players these days, but still haven't done anything about the fact that everything takes so fricking long to achieve if you don't get to use the trade.
too many skills that are either not worth using or need and entire set of uniques to use and the passive tree filter everyone that doesnt read the wiki. also i hate the cluster israeliteel system
I think it's fine that there are bad or niche skills, or skills that need much more investment than others. What I dislike is that some don't interact with any interesing support gems at all, and that many skills look like shit. Presentation carries a skill much further than slight numerical differences.
>muh bloat
Everyone who complains about """bloat""" is a dumb fricking Black person
Since when having lots of optional content in a game is a bad thing?
>Since when having lots of optional content in a game is a bad thing?
As a long time PoE player I used to believe that more content = better. PoE proved it can be a bad thing. Too much side shit that you don't want to engage with but have to because it's so profitable killed the game.
>killed the game >player count record high every league
your mindset is what's fricking moronic here
NOOOOOOO I MUST DO EVERYTHING
I MUST ENGAGE IN OPTIONAL CONTENT I DON'T ENJOY
is this a video game or your job
literal moron
>goal of game is character progression >""""""optional"""""" content is vital for character progression >lmao just don't do optional content it's not a job frfr XD
It's not optional content, It's just regular, shit content. loads of it.
The 4 leagues per year which was its strongest pull turned out to be a double-edged sword and all that content stacking up and power creep paired with it eventually ruined the game. Also seems like the devs have lost any vision they once had.
What's worse is that the decision to make PoE2 into an update killed it before it had a shot. It could've been its own game with a fresh start but now it will be released with all the baggage of current PoE. There's no saving it.
>having to repeat the unfinished campaign every league
How is the campaign "unfinished"? It has a clear beginning and end. >elemental resist gearcheck removes main point of the genre, making a build
You can literally get resist capped with pre-map yellow gear. How is that stopping you from making a build?
This is the sort of short sighted view of what went wrong. The truth is the problems were building up over the years and eventually it was just too much.
The problem is systemic. You get loot by killing monsters, the faster you go the more monsters you kill so players want to maximise speed. This means that players end up just blasting through everything. The flip side is that monster damage ends up so high that you can't react you just get one shot. Which means players want to one shot everything even faster, so GGG ups the damage more. It just goes around and around.
i went from being able to play it to actually lagging so much when there's too much shit in it, sure i do have a toaster but before heist i never had problems with it.
I think poe got a little too big for it's own good. When it first came out it was genuinely supposed to be a spiritual sequel to diablo 2 and poe IS one of the few games that did actually manage to capture the spirit of the online trading aspect of D2
But now it's just about engagement and making sure there are enough leagues in a year to boost their quarters. Most of the design decisions are just supposed to keep people playing to appease shareholders. It also doesn't help that some of the GGG are kinda unironically stupid
>poe IS one of the few games that did actually manage to capture the spirit of the online trading aspect of D2
not even fooking close, D2 trade evolved organically whereas PoE was designed around it and let it ruin the game just like OG D3 did.
OG D3s focus on trading was to israelite it up by letting people buy stuff with IRL cash.
D2s trading scene was a little bit of an accident.
People cared about items in D2 because they were so rare and why were they so rare? Because blizzard nerfed the drop rates because they couldn't deal with bots.
PoE's fricked because the droprates are centered around trading and 99% of your upgrades come from trading a steady supply of currency items for items, similar to farming pgems or uber keys in d2 (which is boring as shit)
there's just not enough loot to keep me interested in keeping me farming and that should say something when it comes from someone that completed their grail grind nearly twice in D2 now (still missing tyrael and zod on current run)
I unironically enjoy farming currency for gear upgrades. When act 3 merc ledge farming was a thing I could play POE all day straight just farming the same place over and over again
to each their own I guess, I love the dopamine rush when a unique ring/amulet drops in D2, even if 98% of them are shit it's a lot better than PoE where 99.97% of them are shit so there isn't even the initial "what if" excitement

I do agree that uniques are lacking in POE. I don't even look at every unique that drops on the ground if it's the wrong type. I wish some of them were more valuable
It's not grim dawn. Or more specifically it's regressive games as a service trash rather than a finite tailored game experience, and character progression is moronic and pushes you to interact less with the game while better games increase your interaction as you progress.
these games always go to shit when you have passive room clearing abilities
the problem is that these game start at Diablo II Hell levels and then proceed into Dark Souls territory where you're dodging bullet hell while your passives/safe actives slowly take care of the enemies

PoE 2 will fix it
Mostly this, too many systems making it inaccessible to people wanting to jump in and enjoy it. It's too dense for people that love the genre, but can't be bothered reading into how to benefit from each system to learn to progress a character.
Is PoE 2 Star Citizen?

PoE's gameplay is bad even by aRPG standards, but feel free to keep deluding yourself that the genre itself is at fault here.

just gonna go rewatch the clips of streamers embracing the "dont alt+4 / exit" challenge and seething endlessly when they die

It won't fix anything.
no it wont
it stopped being the spiritual successor of diablo 2 and went korean mmo
>doing blight and breach at the same time
catering exclusively to speedrunning autists and chinese farmers.
Artificial rarity currencies instead of gold for everything
They keep nerfing the players while simultaneously buffing the content because NOBODY should be allowed to clear my game GO BACK TO DIABLO 3 KID

Dude every map is like Mario Party
It's better now that you can turn off certain league mechanics but still

Tell me how doing Abyss or Incursion or Breach, etc. is vital for character progression. Especially in a tradeleague.
Act 5 and beyond

You can literally get resist capped with pre-map yellow gear. How is that stopping you from making a build?
I managed to get 78% capped on all resists including chaos in a build that uses all but 3 uniques. It isn't that hard, really.
Harvest
Warcry nerfs
Self Cast still feels like shit
the absolute state of melee
This is the sort of short sighted view of what went wrong. The truth is the problems were building up over the years and eventually it was just too much.
I play self cast SSF every league and it feels fine. What do you dislike about it? Is it just specific skills that suck?
95% of skills and gear are useless.
Harvest was a giant mistake GGG has yet to admit to themselves.
The problem is systemic. You get loot by killing monsters, the faster you go the more monsters you kill so players want to maximise speed. currency bloat and developing bosses around alt-f4ing

Everything.
They made the game for morons who love Diablo 2
But Diablo 2 is actually good while PoE is shit.
Whats wrong is they havent buffed Energy Blade
I just want to make an energy blade build that doesnt suck or require 100+ Ex to be able to run.
The harvest manifesto and post 3.13 nerfs. It’s never been so clear.
Defenses are OK now and Eldritch crafting fills the niche of more deterministic crafting.
Wanted to be a DIablo 2 2, but blizzard released a diablo 2 remastered, and is releasing it's own diablo 2 2 along with diablo immortal.
More like releasing Diablo immortal 2 with extra cash shops. Also lol at implying blizzard holds a candle to any game at this point.
>and is releasing it's own diablo 2 2
d4 will be diablo immortal on desktop with fancier grafix
