Tekken is not a fighter, it's unironically a 1D knowledge check simulator and I don't mean 1D as in movement, the only ''dimension'' that matters in Tekken is frame data because the game might all be a turn based game with the nonexistence of neutral (Ultimately a problem with all fighters atm), it all revolves around remembering numbers and getting punished for not doing so, you could have the best movement ever seen and still lose to mashing spastics if you don't know their numbers since Tekken 7 in particular has dumbed down movement and buffed tracking so much it's almost useless and everyone has braindead wall carry combos that do 70% of your health + coinflip for game on your wakeup should one touch you. It's not a fighting game, it's not appealing as a fighting game. It's core audience is literally people who probably don't like actual fighting games, theres like no cross section of players that play both Tekken and other fighters.
Redpilled and based. FGs that cater to framedata autists always end up shooting themselves in the foot. But Tekken has pretty much always been this way, so your sentiment hits harder in relation to the current state of the genre.
And all the changes 8 is making look to make it even worse. Braindead gameplay, only 3 newcomers, And fricked online. I feel like this game is gonna have issues staying alive unless the devs actually start listening to the community (they won't)
This is literally only true for Tekken 7 though and 6 kind of.
Tekken was basically ruined when easy big damage combos with multiple extenders became the norm and everything just started to get homogenized.
Tekken 6 is where this trend started but characters in T6 are actually considered weak overall.
And its because this was the game where every character became more "balanced" but what this really meant was they all became a jack of all trades with less unique strengths and weaknesses.
Past Tekken games were generally pretty imbalanced some might even say broken but so were most old 2D games and many people would say this made them more fun.
The series always had a relatively high emphasis on frame knowledge but again so do many 2D fighters even now like DBFZ and the skill ceiling in Tekken used to be much higher for literally everything.
Tekken in theory actually has a complex okizeme, defense, pressure, throw, etc... game but Tekken 7 just sacrificed all of that to be flashier and easier and the effect of that was frame knowledge became even more important and everything else became less important.
So basically Tekken 7 is actually too balanced in terms of characters and it's imbalanced in terms of the literal mechanics.
Yeah because there's literally too much frame data to keep in your head all at once for a game like Tekken however unlike many fighters it's much easier to intuitively feel the frame data in Tekken without knowing the exact number and many moves are also more standardized across every character than the average 2D game.
But this doesn't change the fact that the frames are still far and away what matter most and that's why T7 feels way too "turn based".
Ok i'm going to trust you opinion instead of what mr naps and jdcr say about the game.
Thanks anon i will now obsess over the frame data like a moron and on the absolute BS of a concept of a turn based fighter. You made me see the light you absolute mongoloid

I don't really care but of course the biggest T7 players will never admit they are just playing a dumbed down version of past games.
I guess this is true of many modern fighting game series but the uniquely bad thing about the Tekken community is that unlike 2D players they rarely if ever revisit past games.
T7 players genuinely look at all the ways the game has been casualized and homogenized as QOL features.
They really think "oh I never drop my combos anymore even though they're 3 times longer so the game is better".
Black person, even with nerfed Kekken 7 movement it's still 80% of the entire game. But high combo damage blowing shit the frick out into the wall is an issue that leads to gameplay being centered around stall backdashit to fish for one of the insta explode combos (this is why coomer is so strong, with meter he forces that shit).
They should make combos shorter with lower damage so you are not afraid to take risks, they nerfed backdash for some characters but I liked that they buffed sidestep since that shit is committal for one or the other party.
No, hell I'd go a step further and say all of the Skeet Fighter girls are unattractive especially with the godawful uncanny valley artstyle Capcom has been pushing for over a decade.

JDCR has said multiple times that even he doesn't know all of the frame data. Godfist was a 1 touch kill back in Tekken 3.
Stupid Tekken 7 zoomer, just play tekken

The designs on paper are okay, the models just look like shit.
They weren't.
Damn sf6 evo was HYPE LESSSSGOOOO

This would be a lot more convincing if you put the UI over a regular vs. match instead.
