Given the amount of threads of yours that died over the last few hours, I think the answer is obviously Grim Dawn.
I'm trying out POE right now after beating D4 and waiting on S1. It's pretty fun but I still prefer D4 to it. The gameplay just feels more fun and polished to me. POE is hella dated now and the story is such a slog because it's not even remotely interesting. I kinda liked D4s story.
I hope POE2 plays better and looks better. If it does it's going to be really fricking good for me.
Once you get to late act 3 the story starts to get going and I personally think it gets pretty cool once Sin shows up.

That is supposed to be the purpose of PoE2, keeping the same game while fixing some pain points (graphics, animations, gear linking), they've also been debloating the game a bit with removal of stuff like perandus and prophecy, and not adding any more core leagues in a long while.

None of these are problems. There's no animation problem, there's no gear linking problem. In fact poe has too much graphics already. Anyone wants to see how poe looked like in 2013 you can find the video on youtube. In 2017 when they released the game on consoles they made a graphical upgrade which basically fricking ruined the game in my opinion. Again now, they're making graphical upgrades for, xbox and PS5 and partly for PC? Something tells me that alot of people will be disappointed with poe2 but let's see how that goes.
Theres no reason to be disappointment. Every sane veteran knows this is just a big update and will accordingly enjoy learning new systems, in particular playing with the new gem system

I will give POE a solid try once POE2 is out and not a second before that. The game looks and feels like shit to play by todays standards. Even Wolcen and Last Epoch look and play better

It just feels like shit.
I even tried looking at endgame stuff to hype me up so I could push through to the end but the endgame was just a mess of explosions or random crap. I did not look fun at all.
Diablo4 just needs more mob density.
For me all D4 needs is better/more fun itemization. Would shit all over PoS if there were more fun builds to play.

No, I despise the mechanic. Why on earth would I want a countdown timer on my new character? Why would I want to play within a specific timeframe like an MMO? Making and gearing new characters is the best part of an ARPG, yeah, but I have negative interest in player retention shit and fomo shit.

Eh, I'm good on that, I hate the ARPG community and don't want to engage with them. Maybe one day I'll try a league or season, but I'm more than happy to make new characters I can slowly play at my own pace in between my game backlog.
You do know that seasonal characters transfer over to the permanent servers? They dont get deleted

Poe has had like 2, maybe 3 good leagues since 3.0 and GGG proved that they were completely accidental because the next league after they made a point to completely gut, trample, and shit on whatever aspects of those leagues were good whether it be overnerfing ascendancies, gutting uniques, gutting any deterministic crafting methods, gutting league mechanics (but still leaving them in the game like a rotten gangrenous toe on a bloated corpse)
Poe2 will 100% not fix the game, its literally just another set of acts that GGG designed to be slower than the current ones just shoved ontop of the already bloated slog that the game is now. original 10 acts will be meta so the new ones will be DOA after the first league with them, you will still be doing uber elder and shit like that in poe2, you will still be doing betrayal and legion in poe2, you will still be forced into the 5 ggg approved builds that league on the 3 ggg approved ascendancies
Spot on. I wish I could disagree with this, but PoE 2 will crash pretty fast as soon as people take off the rose-tinted glasses. They had the chance to create memorable leagues for years, but they went down the path you described.

I honestly wouldn't want anyone to go through this aggravating experience of playing without the necessary tabs. A basic feature in other games is locked behind a mandatory purchase, and all future game design decisions are going to be stifled by that.
There are absolutely necessary tabs but there is also a quick point where you have diminishing returns and its absolutely way before $200

PoE never even came close to D4 numbers at its peak. In fact, it was holding sub 5k active players even prior to D4s release. Sure, PoE2 will cannibalize a little bit of D4's numbers but it will be inconsequential.

The "shared endgame" shit is what will ruin poe2. The game has been powercrept and bloated to hell and the atlas tree only mitigates the issue. Maybe there's still hope, and they will backtrack that statement on exilecon, but we'll see.
People enjoy PoE precisely because you can progress so deep and theres all those intricacies

PoE has too much content and is a giant cake of layered systems that has become next to impossible to eat. The itemization is quite good and there is a ton of build variety
Diablo 4 may as well be called Diablo 3.5. Scaling is a terrible idea in a game where you show your progress by being able to slaughter more effectively and itemization is pretty bad too. Build variety is limited by itemization on each character.
