That’s s hurry justification to no longer make single player games. Pirating is not an issue. It’s not like stealing food or a printer. You do not lose cash from a piece of media being pirated. You lose literally nothing. Maybe even less than nothing.

Im asking you why offline only is so important. What does it provide? As I said the biggest benefits I can imagien is being able to play while traveling (but even that is redundant as most planes and trains have wi-fi nowadays) or if your internet frequently goes down

I shouldn’t have to tell you. You should know this by default if you have ever played a single player game at all in your entire life. I shouldn’t have to be always online. Sure if there was an option to play with others have an online mode but what do I personally get by playing a single player game tied to an online service. By tying the experience to online only you are missing out on customers who can’t or don’t want to play online. If the making of money is your mission you should be willing to make it as accessible as possible.

Ok, let's address the elephant in the room. Why no online only? Because it would be better without the micro-transaction F2P hamsterwheel and cash shop hell. That's why. And when game mechanics exist to make cash shops more attractive? Well at that point the reason it's "free" is because you're the product. In a very real way no less, by being the very player base their investors have number reports on. This is mobile tier gacha territory on a game that may as well be on android. Great potential wasted on pure trash.

I think you’re unto the real reason here. Again from a utility standpoint i dont see a major benefit for making a game playable offline. And the companies have decided that offline games harm their bottom line because of pirating.
But i suspect its more a feeling towards modern gaming practices that make people demand offline
The only reason I need is that inevitably the servers will shut down and then my money will have been stolen.
They want to fire up a item editor and create mirrortier rares in all slots with the press of a button, kinda like PoB but in-game. There is literally no other reason besides wanting to cheat themselves to victory.

PoE2 just needs to fit in between PoE and D4, and it will become 10x more successful. Tune down the autism a bit, focus way more on skill-based combat.

i've already tried PoE several times. It's just a bad game with trash gameplay for slot addicts.
That's the hard truth of it until PoE 2 comes out and baldy actually tries to fix the game which I HIGHLY doubt he will accomplish due to the fact that the game is far too open ended which results in disastrous gameplay balance that leads to the same exact screen clearing builds over and over.
