That's not how buttcape items get added to the game. They follow the general shape of a robe gearpiece so they lay flat against the body and only billow out beyond the thigh, their reference pose is as they appear in a model viewer and in the game's own item preview icon. You might want to be a bit slower off the mark on saying there's cope going on. A buttcape doesn't get added to the files, rigged, with the cape flying out from the body.

XIV is one of the few games mind that seems to take into account specifics of what hair looks like if you've got a hat instead of just giving you 'generic hat hair long/short'.

We desperately need proper drills. They'd have to be thick but short like the plait because long ones would probably get you dismissed because muh clipping. I'd do it but I suck at drawing them. I played through it last year and it would take a lot to get me to pick it up again. At minimum:
1. The community would need to be improved by removing all the freaks
2. The existing content would need to be drastically more respectful of my time
3. The content that does exist would need to be drastically expanded to make it... something other than deeply pathetic
4. The story content would need to be condensed to something more reasonable, its presentation needs to improve by 1000%. Some more mature writing couldn't hurt.
5. It would need to abandon the tab targetting format and switch to something more engaging
Then a handful of more minor changes would be nice. Overhaul of the UI, fleshing out of the game world, better rewards for doing stuff. The basic elements are there but the game is far too focused on continuing its legacy of having ripped off WoW.

Unironically enchanted ink. If you do any alchemist quests you should recall enchanted tomes are written with enchanted inks so she can probably see those.
Literally anything in the universe is made of aether which she can detect with her magic eyes but if I remember right she's mentioned not being able to discern colors and other things, and the more enchanted the ink or pigment used on an item the better she's able to see it. She comes pretty close to not being able to see blasphemies in the Final Days because they're aetherically null.

I played through the vanilla ARR, but dropped just before Heavensward's launch. Now if I feel like I've missed too many events and free stuff I don't want to get back in.
Most any event worth your time gets repeated every year or every other year. The most valuable ones are the FF15 event (four-seater mount for free) and the FF11 event (Amatsu samurai set).
Add collision and climbing and multiple animations for running, walking, idle and climbing (that you can set for different zones).
Walking is mandatory in cities with a slow jog active that lasts 25 seconds with a 90 second cool down.

iirc 1.0 had this and for some reason Yoshi removed it.
One argument against it I guess is that with how specific/fast stuff like AOE/mechanics work, you don't really want your character to have weight/inertia. To which I say frick that, find some other way to make fights challenging that isn't just DDR, and make characters feel less like moving tokens on a board.
Or at least give mounts physics, it's not like those are used for anything important. It'd make them more interesting if they were a bit more challenging to use or fly in than "point in direction, press cruise control button". Maybe vehicle mounts could feel like vehicles, your chocobo could have riding mechanics like the horse in Zelda. Maybe ramming into stuff knocks you off your mount. Sky's the limit.

Given how hard even the Source differs from all of its contemporaries in physical makeup, native species and magical/fey elements, picture the kinds of forces being twisted on itself that could result in that exploding world, the potato-peel world, great tree world, or the coral world
First planet could be Freedom Fighters or Dragonstar since both were bombed to hell and back.
Second looks like it could be the Ea's world since it looks like it is all sand.
Third is obviously the Nibilums since if you look over the edge in their area you can see bottom bits of the pictured planet.
I'm guessing that the fourth is the Greblouf's since it looks like a coral with cancer.
Personally I think only the Nibilums and Freedom Fighters are Meteions' fault since they got the zeal to go full moron and summoned their suicide god after she showed up.
With the trust system they could easily make an offline single-player version. Populate zones with more npcs to give it a better vibe. Make a fake preprogrammed Market Board.

Congrats fella, after getting Ragnarok that's the only other weapon I think looks good enough that I might ever attempt another ARR relic. Can't say the same for HW, though, I got Cronus Lux and not a single other weapon looks good enough for me to consider it. MAYBE up to the Sultan's Fists for MNK.
I'm aware, I just don't think any of them look good enough at any point to bother, really. Cronus was the stand-out option and even then I'm kinda like, "this is just a fancier Deathbringer, innit?"

They could easily have some compromise, put the items up for Moogle Tomestones, do a "compressed" version where you make the base relic and then you can upgrade it quickly to whatever levels you've made if you've done it for another job, or a frickload of other things. Relic grind for glamour can fricking die in a fire and is horribly designed, rarely updated etc >but but what about all the WORK we did

A hyperfocus on people's "mains" or devotion to playing a single class shouldn't be borne out by grinding and an expectation to look at a certain type of gear, especially these days when everyone is using whatever glamour new or old alike. I mean if you like the "I studied the blade and do nothing else" single class playstyle that's fine, but it doesn't excuse bad design, inability to iterate, or just plain grindy nonsense, to say nothing for how the game's systems seem almost otherwise designed to do the opposite (ie the ease of switching jobs, job system on one character, hell the way that nearly every FF game with a changeable Job system had you level up multiple jobs, and even how early on XIV required you to level multiple classes to promote to an advanced job in some cases etc).
Ultimately its all secondary to Relics for past expansions being essentially for the look now, the grind of each Relic's process and other design and implementation issues along with the overall development of the game.

I like the Majestic Manderville Sword better than the Manderville Sword (stock Manderville still has its charms, it's a repop of Curtana basically which is also a good sword) but the Majestic Shield looks way worse than the Manderville Kite Shield imo
Most of the current relics would look significantly better if there was a glowless matte option for them, especially Dragoon's spear where the glow effect overwrites the dye on the spearhead anyways

Then SE decided that XIV would basically fund the rest of their failures and started squeezing the devs of all their sub money and told them to sell item mall shit. Frick all of the above. Not only did they ever think of offering another way, like a "premium" sub or some shit instead. They could very easily fix all of this.

I think part of the issue is there are no actual weapons to get that aren't extremes or tomes.
So your side jobs get stuck with the af weapon until you have tomes to spare and they figure may as well just let you tome an upgrading weapon instead.

Well, if you're doing current expansion Savage/Ultimate/EX etc... content then it can certainly matter. I grant its not something where just having one item alone makes you a god but if you're doing something new on the hardest modes then the difference between "just new max level expansion cap gear" and "best in slot relic + high iL armor sets etc" will matter. To say nothing of crafting/gathering relics (ie Skysteel or whatever the frick it was) that helps.

Warframe is a pretty bad example given that it was never finished as a game and then was sabotaged by its developers for the sake of eternal grift. Guild Wars 1 is a feature complete game.
Discordway was just the death rattle, PvE was ruined with the release of EOTN and ursanway. And it is still millions of times better than anything GW 2 can offer. Or any other mmo out there. The idea of 55ing or using body blocking in PvP would filter out 99% of modern mmo players.
I wish I had some of the older GW 1 screenshots I had taken around Factions release, but that PC and all its hard drives had been nuked an eternity ago.

That's not how buttcape items get added to the game. They follow the general shape of a robe gearpiece so they lay flat against the body and only billow out beyond the thigh, their reference pose is as they appear in a model viewer and in the game's own item preview icon. You might want to be a bit slower off the mark on saying there's cope going on. A buttcape doesn't get added to the files, rigged, with the cape flying out from the body.

I played through it last year and it would take a lot to get me to pick it up again. At minimum:
1. The community would need to be improved by removing all the freaks
2. The existing content would need to be drastically more respectful of my time
3. The content that does exist would need to be drastically expanded to make it... something other than deeply pathetic
4. The story content would need to be condensed to something more reasonable, its presentation needs to improve by 1000%. Some more mature writing couldn't hurt.
5. It would need to abandon the tab targetting format and switch to something more engaging
Then a handful of more minor changes would be nice. Overhaul of the UI, fleshing out of the game world, better rewards for doing stuff. The basic elements are there but the game is far too focused on continuing its legacy of having ripped off WoW.
A complete rework of MMO quests because going from point A to B to C and then back to A over and over makes me miserable to be alive.

Unironically enchanted ink. If you do any alchemist quests you should recall enchanted tomes are written with enchanted inks so she can probably see those.
Literally anything in the universe is made of aether which she can detect with her magic eyes but if I remember right she's mentioned not being able to discern colors and other things, and the more enchanted the ink or pigment used on an item the better she's able to see it. She comes pretty close to not being able to see blasphemies in the Final Days because they're aetherically null.
Everything in Etheirys is made of aether. That includes ink.

I do notice this game has pretty severe Monster Hunter syndrome where everybody complains how female-oriented all the gear and options are, then I wear them as a big hunky Highlander, or even a roe for some years, and I have zero issue with anything I wear.

Most any event worth your time gets repeated every year or every other year. The most valuable ones are the FF15 event (four-seater mount for free) and the FF11 event (Amatsu samurai set).

iirc 1.0 had this and for some reason Yoshi removed it.
One argument against it I guess is that with how specific/fast stuff like AOE/mechanics work, you don't really want your character to have weight/inertia. To which I say frick that, find some other way to make fights challenging that isn't just DDR, and make characters feel less like moving tokens on a board.
Or at least give mounts physics, it's not like those are used for anything important. It'd make them more interesting if they were a bit more challenging to use or fly in than "point in direction, press cruise control button". Maybe vehicle mounts could feel like vehicles, your chocobo could have riding mechanics like the horse in Zelda. Maybe ramming into stuff knocks you off your mount. Sky's the limit.

Congrats fella, after getting Ragnarok that's the only other weapon I think looks good enough that I might ever attempt another ARR relic. Can't say the same for HW, though, I got Cronus Lux and not a single other weapon looks good enough for me to consider it. MAYBE up to the Sultan's Fists for MNK.
You can do a full HW relic in only a few hours. Just buy the vendor mats over time when you cap basic tomestones.
I'm aware, I just don't think any of them look good enough at any point to bother, really. Cronus was the stand-out option and even then I'm kinda like, "this is just a fancier Deathbringer, innit?"

A hyperfocus on people's "mains" or devotion to playing a single class shouldn't be borne out by grinding and an expectation to look at a certain type of gear, especially these days when everyone is using whatever glamour new or old alike. I mean if you like the "I studied the blade and do nothing else" single class playstyle that's fine, but it doesn't excuse bad design, inability to iterate, or just plain grindy nonsense, to say nothing for how the game's systems seem almost otherwise designed to do the opposite (ie the ease of switching jobs, job system on one character, hell the way that nearly every FF game with a changeable Job system had you level up multiple jobs, and even how early on XIV required you to level multiple classes to promote to an advanced job in some cases etc).
Ultimately its all secondary to Relics for past expansions being essentially for the look now, the grind of each Relic's process and other design and implementation issues along with the overall development of the game.

It can still be some degree of work that is not the insane broken grind that it is now, designed for a time when the game didn't have anything else to do outside of running ARR shit over and over again. Things have changed, it was shitty back then they didn't do things like wrap all the books into one single book (but then people would see how batshit it was), but definitely today the game can evolve to recognize its no longer the best in slot for that expansion. Are you also going to get pissed that there are other ways to get rare drop minions and mounts including the "combo horses / birds / wolves where you need to collect 5 and they will unlock the super version" for each expansion? Those are on Guild Seals box vendors and also on Moogle Tomestones.

Not only did they ever think of offering another way, like a "premium" sub or some shit instead. They could very easily fix all of this.

Relics should be a grind. They also should give you something special. Like change the animation to some weaponskill. But devs have no passion for this game at all and neither does Yoshi.
I think part of the issue is there are no actual weapons to get that aren't extremes or tomes.

They could easily have some compromise, put the items up for Moogle Tomestones, do a "compressed" version where you make the base relic and then you can upgrade it quickly to whatever levels you've made if you've done it for another job, or a frickload of other things. Well, if you're doing current expansion Savage/Ultimate/EX etc... content then it can certainly matter. I grant its not something where just having one item alone makes you a god but if you're doing something new on the hardest modes then the difference between "just new max level expansion cap gear" and "best in slot relic + high iL armor sets etc" will matter. To say nothing of crafting/gathering relics (ie Skysteel or whatever the frick it was) that helps.
