what would it be like if from gen 1 to current, all of the games were the same with the exception that fighting type was removed, especially on a competitive level (both Smogon and VGC).
I will be honest, as a person who loves ice and rock types the fact that fighting type is so effective on them makes me seethe a bit, so I guess this is cope in the hopes that without this fricking menace of a type around they would have a better shot.
it doesn't matter which changes you do. soul will still be lost after Gen 2, and Gen 5 still will kill the series.
anon, this isn't about soul being lost or not, please don't be a gen wars gay. but if you really wanna go there Gen 3 had some of the coolest mons in the dex
>started in RBY and played to current
don't even try to shift my opinion as someone who didn't grow up during the "hayday of pokemon". Gen 1 had shit designs for a good chunk of the dex, loads of balance issues and glitches that literally changed the game in an unintentional way (Poison and Bug super effecting each other). gen 2 was basically a little less buggy, tried to fix the fact that they wanted Mewtwo to jizz in their mouths and made Dark and Steel as an answer, while also pushing in a bunch of baby mons and the worst evolution Mechanic ever devised: friendship.
Gen 3 killed the series beyond recovery already, idk why you wienersuckers get hung up on Gen 5
>Gen 3 killed the series beyond recovery already
I guess that must be why it got 145,000 games played on Showdown last month in August while Gen 2 got ~12,000 games.
Definitely not because the latter is a boring slog with severely flawed mechanical foundations that almost everyone hates except mega-autists.
discord post
>normal type is actually neutral
it would be a better timeline
that is pretty cool yeah
Good question, I was thinking for the sake of simplicity just making them just lose the type, but if you wanna suggest duel type replacements I am down.
>ground, one of the most solid types to ever exist still exists
>Fire type might actually see more use on some mons
>mons that resist fire could have grass types see use instead
anon, are you SURE nothing good will come of it? I am willing to discuss and see your point of view but I feel you arent trying here.
The Steel type just becomes the God type. You haven't thought this through, don't actually want this.
What would every Fighting Type get instead?
if it is pure Fighting, Maybe Normal type or Ground type
Lucario could become Psychic/Steel? (Mono-Steel is just wrong on it, and Psychic can be link to Aura)
what does the P stand for?
Planet, because a fully grown Machamp would be bigger than a Planet.
Could also just be Pokémon.
where did I post a P?
that would be pretty cool I am sure. what about Hawlucha?
In the pic
oh that is a random pic I found on google
I think the "px" stands for "pixel"
I'm talking about Machamp's belt.
wait. thats a P???
In Gen 3 OU none of the fighting types are necessary in the metagame. Heracross, Breloom, Hariyama, Machamp, and so on could all be removed with no significant impact upon how it works, as they are threatening but hard to fit typically, and thus not necessarily meta-defining, and in fact kind of niche.
Heracross in particular is such a big potential threat that it does sort of mandate a Flying type on the team as a check to it.
