This is funny too because people like to blame Nintendo for forcing Rare to make a Zelda version of DP for Fox but I just played some of DP today and it's literally Adventures but way worse. Adventures might be a letdown but if DP released on 64, tjat game would have been an utter embarrassment.
I’ve read some cope posts saying that it’d have been an 11/10 game had it ever been finished but after playing through some of the prototype myself, I have serious doubts about that. The game’s just too linear from what I played so far, when I was expecting something more expansive like OoT. Adventures is better by virtue alone of being a (mostly) finished game, but it’s still nice to be able to play a version with its original identity still intact for the most part, and also brimming with soul, though soul does not always make a good game, let alone an 11/10 one
Ultimately Dinosaur Planet was always kind of a jank Zelda clone and would of likely faded to the dustbins of history on its own (like most of Rare's original properties like Jet Force and Kameo) but it was definitely a larger/grander game than what we got on GCN in both terms of narrative and even levels, it was the only time Krystal actually got to be like an actual starring character.
Also certainly less padding, you can definitely tell how much Rare was trying to make up for everything they cut in the transition from DP to SFA by padding the shit out of the game with explosive barrell throwing puzzles.

Yeah it would have been cool to see what it was supposed to be, and it would have been nice if Adventures had more dev time, but I'm ok with what we got out of both.
Still better than skyward sword and more soulful and engaging than twilight princess

Why remake the game most people blame for the downfall of Star Fox and risk it doing poorly? At best you have old Zelda fans who didn't like Botw or Totk buy it.

Because it's been proven that the old Star fox fans who've been seething about any game that's not 64 or made in it's EXACT likeness, have no actual clue on what they want out of the franchise. It's now time to throw darts at the walls.
At that point you might aswell remake DP as what it was originally meant to be instead of adventures. Star Fox would benefit from it since it’d finally be able to move past that and Microsoft would benefit since it’d be a game they’d actually be able to put on Xbox, gamepass and PC

Sounds like at absolute most, MS/Rare MIGHT of retained the rights to the few DP stuff that didn't make it into the final SF game (i.e Sabre, Randorn, etc) but everything else is fully under Nintendo's domain. Hence why Krystal, Tricky, Sauria, etc have reappeared in future games.

Dinosaur Planet oddly still does live on in Star Fox to this day, even after Zero's "reboot".
Slippy mentions Sauria in Zero's promotional The Battle Begins short and there's also a reference to Adventures in Starlink as shown by pic related, Krystal also shows up as an assist trophy (Tricky's also there in spirit...ba dum dish)

It’s too obscure to get the attention necessary to have any significant amount of people be able to make any sort of serious progress in a timely manner. It’s being worked on but at a snail’s pace and I don’t blame the few autists working on it for taking long, when the amount of people that both care and are capable of working on it can be counted on one hand

That's not Assault
Assault had a chance to bring things back and blew it, but Adventures already put the hole in the boat.
Adventures at the time was actually fairly well received and even sold well over a million. Assault on the other hand was pretty much the first real critical AND commercial disappointment the Star Fox series had seen, the first one to not sell over a million and also to this day, the lowest ranked game on Metacritic.
From that perspective, Assault was the final nail in the coffin, especially when you consider that it was actually the last big console Star Fox game until Zero in 2016 (though I suppose Shiggy supposedly not having "enough new ideas" for a SF Wii game didn't help either).
Eventually they will remaster it and the longer it takes the better the remaster will be due to being on a stronger console.
It's sad that Gamecube era Fox is both the worst period of Star Fox history and also the best we'll ever have because it was the time we got TWO Star Fox games on a system and there were still fans instead of fricking nothing.

If Dinosaur Planet had released on N64 it would have sold so much that Rare would have been able to buy Nintendo, which is what Miyamoto was afraid of
