Cancer's just a biological time bomb that can happen to anyone at any time. It's RNG. The Sword of Damocles of the human race that only becomes more likely the longer you live, to the point that it's inevitable. That guy got really unlucky.

I know you're memeing but people really do believe "[disease/mental illness] rates went up in modern times, something bad must be happening to people". No you moronic fricks, we're just capable of actually detecting it. Back in the day grandpa just had a bad cough for a couple years and then died in his sleep. Or you just said "that kid ain't right" when he killed small animals for fun. Food allergies are technically caused by modern society but not because people are somehow "weaker" but rather that they're encountering foods their ancestors would've never had access to. Of course you're going to have lots of people allergic to peanuts, they're native to Bolivia and you're native to Germany. Your ecosystems have never interacted.

            Anonymous

One of the few things that did change are our jaws. Almost everyone has buck teeth now because of the easy to eat slop we have. 400 years back people had to chew pretty hard foods.

            Anonymous

            >Of course you're going to have lots of people allergic to peanuts, they're native to Bolivia and you're native to Germany. Your ecosystems have never interacted.
Wrong. Almost no one in the EU is allergic to peanuts. Natives to Bolivia and natives to EU are exposed to peanuts from the birth. Only in the US are people beyond moronic and "protect" their children. Even if a baby is allergic to peanuts, if exposed very early, the immune system learns it's not harmful. By the time you are in high school your immune system is robust enough to kill you and it's too late to develop tolerance for it.

              Anonymous

It's modern American "moms" eat slop so the baby is exposed to a daily dose of McDonald's and not homemade meals including peanut butter sandwiches.

              Anonymous

France probably would have been a better example. And you can't just "toughen up" kids with the kind of typical reaction they have to peanuts. A 4 year old who is allergic to peanuts doesn't get a stomach ache, their throat closes up and they have to use an epipen or they suffocate and die.
You might find yourself thinking this because allergies do change over the course of growing up. As a kid I was allergic to coconut and peaches. I avoided them for a long time (ie, I didn't "expose" myself to it at all) and by college I just stopped being allergic to both.

You can start rounding people up and putting them in fat camps with strict diets and you'd be spending lots of money on much more effective cancer prevention, but I don't think the general public would go for it.

This man is right. Anything else is cope. Just look up telomeres and learn. Cells can only divide so much. Over time the telomeres get shorter and shorter to the point where the cells become essentially moronic and become things they're not supposed to be, aka cancer. Unless we find a way to reverse telomere loss everyone WILL die of cancer at some point if they manage to beat everything else off.

          Anonymous

          >Unless we find a way to reverse telomere loss
Not true. You can immunize against certain types of cancer and the list is expanding. So in the future when a specific type of cancer develops because of telomere shortening, the patient gets vaccinated and his own immune system will recognize and destroy these cells. Only immunodeficient patients will be fricked. Hopefully we'll get human aligned AI swarms of NANOMACHINES SON by then.

you can't vaccinate against entropy. dna invariably corrupts

              Anonymous

DNA will corrupt but you can train the immune system to recognize the cancer and stop it. Currently the best treatment for certain types of cancer are immunizations (vaccines). Very high success rate (80-94%) with complete remission, more and more of these are being made for other types of cancer. This corona shitshow was good for one thing, significant funding into research of mRNA tech, which seems to be the answer to cancer looks like.

              >AI swarms of NANOMACHINES SON
We already have those. The immune system. The problem is simply to aim it to target correct cells and making sure they actually do their job then cancer is cured.

              >The problem is simply to aim it to target correct cells and making sure they actually do their job then cancer is cured.
Currently no cancer can be cured, only go into remission. But if you teach the immune system to target specific genetic profile (using a virus or a spike protein as a vector), you teach it to recognize the cancer and kill it. As I said, it's currently the most successful approach and the cutting edge in oncology.

This is how I can tell you've never had to stay overnight in a hospital for treatment or surgery. You don't get hot nurses tending to your every beck and call 24/7. You get obese middle aged nigress CNA's fricking around on their phones, pocketing your medicine, going through your shit, trying to give you spongebaths with a disgusting sponge that they use on every patient, dragging you to the bathroom to watch you shit and piss.

Burger healthcare might be shit, but at least you get painkillers. Here in Europe hospitals are super stingy when it comes to painkillers, probably afraid of creating morphine addicts or something, you'll be lucky if you get any at all.

I know a guy who went down in agonizing pain from pancreatic cancer. The doctor went on leave without oncreasing morphine dose.

        >can't get a decent night's sleep because you're hooked up to some bullshit that either beeps or needs manual change
This is very accurate. I had stage III cancer recently and needed four week-long stays for chemotherapy. Every time you move your arm at night the IV drip gets crossed and the machine starts making noise, causing you to have to call a nurse to set things straight again. This happened two or three times a night.

Also, I was lucky enough to have a single-person room with an ensuite bathroom, because every time I had to take a piss at night (which happens a whole lot when you're on a saline drip between rounds of chemo) I had to get out of bed carefully, take the IV machine out of the wall socket and roll it with me into the bathroom and back.

The hospital bed I was in was actually supremely comfy.
But let's just say if I have to sit in again I'm going to try and bribe the nurses to bring me some microwave dinners.
I can still taste the slop they served me and it tastes vile.
I'm certain the food caused physical changes to my brain, it was a traumatic experience.

I live in the uk and spent 2 months in hospital. beds are comfy. the food is pretty good. nurses are nice. only thing is, i didn't get to enjoy much of the food because my bowels were paralysed.
the absolute worst thing about hospital stays is the other people you're stuck with. had one frickwit come up to my bed one night and threaten to kill me. spent a few nights sleepless because some fat hag was wreathing about in her bed screaming non stop. some old guy across the isle kept shitting himself.

Both Skyrim and Fallout 4 also had NPCs based on dead fans that didn't get to play the games
        >"His name is derived from Erik West, whose internet alias was "Immok the Slayer," a visitor to Bethesda's HQ during Skyrim's development. Bethesda was so impressed with his knowledge of Oblivion that they gave him an in-depth tour of Bethesda studios and decided to create a character named Erik in his honor. Erik died of cancer six months before the release of Skyrim, hence Bethesda immortalized him in the form of Erik the Slayer."
        >"Evan is a tribute to a Fallout fan's brother Evan, who passed away before Bethesda Softworks could deliver a care package of Fallout merchandise sent as a way of supporting the two brothers after their father had died. To make up for the delayed package, Bethesda promised to include Evan as an NPC in Nuka-World."

Because most people aren't miserable enough to trade away their lives to opioids/benzo/booze. Drug addicts are miserable in the long run. Cancer patients don't have much to lose

I read a study where they gave mushrooms to cancer patients. It didn't cure them obviously but almost all of them accepted their fate and felt more at peace with it after they were high. We should give dying people mushrooms

They could be when you're bedridden. There comes a point where you're still alive for a couple months but stuck in bed and all you can do is watch movies with the family or play vidya if they're gamers. It's not like people with cancer aren't still passing the time.

When you're dying stuff like that doesn't really register. I see PS5s at Target all the time, I've got the money to buy one but I don't care and same goes for Xbox and Switch. I have my PC and I might buy a game on sale but I haven't done that much since summer. Cancer scares me, cause even though I’m young, it still could happen whenever, and it feels like often when people notice something bad is happening, it’s already super advanced. But it’s not like there are frequent(well, not really) screenings until you’re much older, so you can just get kinda screwed.

If you're really concerned, fast for 4+ days 4 times per year and eat a low carbohydrate diet. Additionally, buy liposomal quercetin and eat it with an over easy egg every morning. Morning is the best time because you're breaking your 8 hour fast from sleeping, so your cancer cells are quite hungry and quercetin is a bit too spicy for them. Egg yolks are a natural emulsifier and quercetin isn't that bioavailable, even the liposomal form needs some help, hence the egg in combination with the quercetin.

Cancer is scary but for the most part you won't get it until you're old, or if you live an extremely unhealthy lifestyle. You should be more scared of blood clots. I'm 37, I've known 2 young people with cancer, both had a pretty treatable type of cancer and both are still alive today. I've known 3 people who had blood clots, all younger than 40, all died from it almost instantly and out of nowhere. I've never known anyone who had a brain aneurysm but those scare me too.

Two were not, one was an athlete and very fit, but the third one was overweight and had their stomach stapled and the clot happened to them within a year of the surgery, so that likely played a part.

Clots tend to be diet and or if you do nothing but sit around all day. Weird it'd happen to a fit athlete unless he was eating some real garbage or had some unknown medical condition.

While true, all of those could happen without warning, while cancer means you get a diagnosis, have to learn your chances of survival, and then just slowly go through the process, and if you aren’t gonna make it, you’ll probably know well ahead of time.

His friends convince him to take a road trip to Skywalker Ranch to steal an early cut of Phantom Menace so he can see it before he dies(the real release date he will already be dead). Video games are just a distraction. I like playing video games but they are all basically the same. All shooters are the same, all turn based are the same, all rpgs are the same just different skins or feel.

What does it actually feel like?

        Anonymous

It's the worst pain I've ever experienced. I always see people say that stupid meme like "haha do you ever get that one random chest pain once a year and think it's time for you to die xD" and I can tell you it's beyond pain
        >chest
Imagine lying down flat and someone sits on your chest FULL weight. The feeling in your heart feels like someone is squeezing it with their fist (if you ever read or saw jojo part 3 think that part where jotaro uses star platinum to stop his heart, its a squeeze feeling and its awful). Contrary to popular belief your heart isn't really on the left side. It's basically in the center with a chunk going to the left so 95 percent of the pain is in the centre while 5 is on the left side (most people think the full heart is on the left side)
        >arm
Sharp pain shoots down left arm and burns for a while.
        >other symptoms
Shortness of breath, MAJOR sweats, blurry vision
        >myths
Some people say heart attacks can kill instantly but that's not exactly true, this is cardiac arrest which is MUCH rarer and happens usually due to genetic conditions or a heart attack that went too far.

Did it get easier the more you had?

It gets less scary but the pain is the same. It's a literal 10/10, those heart attacks that are symptomless with no pain are EXTREMELY rare and usually only happen in woman.

Nah. The survival rate for heart attacks is quite high due to symptoms lasting a while. As long as you ring an ambulance you're golden (give or take). Apperently only 12 percent of them lead to death. Cardiac arrest on the other hand has a SURVIVAL rate of 12 percent. I've survived so many because:
        >live with a family
        >live literally right beside a hospital by luck
        >have an internal monitor

I say this as someone who lost someone close to cancer. If it spreads, just stop treatment and start taking the pain meds and enjoy what little time you have left. I don't necessarily think doctors see money bags in a lost cause cancer patient, but at the very least the "you have this many months to live" line doesn't exist any more. They never tell you you're definitely going to die.
It started to be obvious with the person I'm talking about so it was still no surprise, but never got a date until one of the hospice nurses just said it will be tonight or tomorrow, when it was obvious because he wasn't response at all by that point.

      Anonymous

Honestly unless they're talking about getting a specific tumor taken out, they're probably dead. If you're relying on chemo or immunotherapy and it didn't already start shrinking things in the first six months, you're basically a goner.
If one treatment didn't work, it had to be a scan weeks later to show that. Then they have to wait for the non-working shit to be out of your system. Then there's paperwork and approval for trial drugs you have to wait for. Then you have to wait months to see if that worked.
All this time shit is still growing. So you can't even just throw treatments at your cancer and see if it works. You get a handful of shots at trying different treatments before it's too late and you're going.

New Zealand stats include anyone getting sick or dying in anyways as uninjected up to a month after being injected, and then uninjected 3 months afterwards.
The medical staffs logging things could also determine that the person most likely got sick beforehand within that timeframe and still count them as uninjected even if they presented or died within that narrow timeframe.

In other words it is completely useless propaganda from a government trying not to be held liable for their own actions.

I'm not anti-vax, even got the booster twice. But aren't you gays at least curious how the Covid-panic just vanished after the Ukraine war? Just a week or so before, they were still pushing for the third or fourth booster for a new variant. If the booster and variant was really that important, why did attention/coverage/panic for it vanished almost immediately. I followed the news almost daily and then the war happen, they still peddle the booster for one or two weeks, and then, nothing. I feel like the big pharma got way yoo greedy and started pushing boosters as a quick profit.

Well, judging by how hard they were peddling the booster, it doesn't seem like they were thinking about ending the panic. It was weird how everyone and the media just sweep it under the rug. It's not just one more booster mind you, they were planning for 2 or 3 more IIRC. It's creepy how fast our attention and focus changes according to what the media wants to feed you.

      >worry about dying
      >die from the extra stress
Worrying about dying actually brings you closer to the Death's door.
Death happens. You have to accept that. Even when we solve aging you're not out of the risk of dying.
The only conceivable way to not have to worry about death is having your consciousness digitized (not creating a copy) and being in a board of some self-sustaining spaceship that can easily survive for millions of years through constant automated maintenance while you frick around in virtual worlds. Assuming we solve the entropy problem and preventing slow heath death or find a way around it (e.g. moving to other dimensions/realities).
Otherwise you're still going to die at some point.

      >tldr
Put the effort you waste on worrying about your death on bettering yourself and extending your time you get to enjoy. You live in times of major changes where it's not impossible for you to live long enough to survive until tech which allows you to live for millennia becomes real.

I have minor back issues but rather than strain myself I take 5 and do you know what, they prefer that over me throwing out my back. look after your health.

The last time I was excited for a game was fricking callisto protocol and it was because it came out on my birthday.
The disappointment was already immeasurable then but if I was weeks from dying and that was the last shit I was looking forward to I'd have killed myself sooner.

treatment takes an incredible physical, mental, and emotional toll on people. I've had thoughts of stopping treatment just because I live by myself and doing chemo like that is a fricking nightmare so sometimes you just feel like saying "frick it let me die". I kinda feel like that right now but I know it's mainly because I just got done with a round of chemo last week I should start to feel a bit better next week as I'm hitting the nadir right now.

Cancer "treatment" is basically trying to kill you but stopping just short of and hoping you can come back. It's torture and if your prognosis is not good then there is no point of spending your final days in agony.

Why do people post shit like this? Nobody fricking asked or cares. It's like those morons that post their life story of learning to drive a manual in their gran dads f100 on a dirt road as a youtube comment. Shut the frick up.

He kind of framed Starfield as his life's end goal but we all know how the game turned out in the end.
It's some sort of retrospect how things were and hoeps were up only to be let down.

If you moron ever get cancer, look into dry fasting.
The shit you can do with your body to fricking attack cancer is unbelievable only due to big pharma and doctors seething at the proof.
Autophagy and Ketosis can save your fricking life.
    Specially if you're overweight.
If you have enough fat stored in you, fasting can help you directly target cancer cells and win in the end.
It's uncomfortable and a fight against time, but if you went the chemo route, then you're just a stupid homosexual who never stood a chance for listening to the industry that profits off your fricking suffering and death.
    Dry fasting costs you NOTHING.
It works better than your dumb ass would believe right now.

the saddest thing about watching my dad battle cancer wasn't knowing that he was going to die, it was how he lost interest in just about everything. baking, bands, music, technology, and the worst of all his sense of humor. i didn't hear him laugh for last several years of his life.

i only got him to smile once when i showed him that picture of schizoid man smiling.
