I can't wait for when it releases and everyone acts like they're excited but never actually play it and then all the threads on here asking if it was worth the wait with most saying no.
Pure delusion. The playable demo from like 3 or 4 years ago confirms that it will be amazing. Totk will win game of the year justly because of the feat of wizardry Nintendo pulled to get such a physics sandbox system to work flawlessly on literal box of scraps in a cave hardware. If silk song had released last year it may even have bumped ER from goty. We are not prepared for a metroidvania the size of 4-6 hk but that is what we are getting.
We already knew the gameplay would be good. That's a huge part of why HK was a success.
That's not the concern. The delays aren't helping. If this game is just bloated nonsenseware that's overinflated with plot bullshit, stupid maps, and shitty bosses, none of it's gonna matter.
I feel like doomposting and buzzwords have the tightest grip around zoomers. Every criticism I see on this board always has some dumb buzzword followed by a tangent of random schizophrenic thoughts
>indie drone is also a nintendo cocksucker
Color me surprised
TOTK is a blatant cashgrab only praised by people who dont even play many games, and silksong is vaporware that completely killed all hype by virtue of being the same game and yet still have not been released
I'm honestly concerned that they don't know when to stop. Every time they talk about it and justify the wait, down to the very fact that it became a full game, it's always "we keep adding so much content". Hollow Knight's sole major flaw was pacing, the game drags on for a bit. It's almost perfect otherwise. "Bigger and better!!!!!" is not the mentality you should approach its sequel. Silksong should be Hollow Knight's Bloodborne. Leaner, faster and more focused.
The best part about HK was the fact when you thought you had nothing left there was still more to explore. If they make SS twice the size of the original HK and they still make DLC it'll be better than the first.
Well, I disagree.
Though you do raise a good point with the DLC. If I played the original game at launch, it probably would feel just right in length. I won't have this problem with Silksong.
There's really no other Vania on PC I have that I can dump 60+ hours into. Most only last 30 hours and that's a hard maybe. That uniqueness in length compared to other Vania is what makes HK stand out for me. Of course it's overwhelming and the difficulty spike is pretty rough but HK is a pretty unique vania imo.

I remember trying this before and it didn't hook me but I only played about 2 hours. Do you have anything positive you remember from playing?

It‘s long, very difficult and combat is similar to hollow knight

No, i tried it for a few hours but couldn‘t be arsed to commit to a long game at the time so i put it in the backlog. I‘d pirate it and see how it is. I hear it being praised often and it seems similar to hollow knight which is why i mentioned it

I got it for 5 bucks on a key site
I'm looking forward to this, the guns look cool
Also waiting on this never ever game.

how do you fags keep up with metroidvania releases?
I don't keep up with releases anymore cause most games that are being announced are just not coming out anytime soon so I knock out backlog shit now. I guess it's not bad because I'm playing games I want to play but I also want new games.
I get you, I just would rather reach 60 hours replaying a 30 hours game than play a 60 hours long one once and not feel like doing it ever again. I have 312 hours of Sekiro, but 70 of Hollow Knight. My first playthrough of Sekiro definitely took less than 70 hours.
But, again, I simply disagree, I don't mind you having that opinion, and I suspect you'll get your wish. I just hope I get mine.
Not with how TC handles platforming. More areas to explore with fluid movement makes it better. It would be a drag if you were stuck with something slower like castlevania
Hornet herself is faster and leaner. They are obviously going ham adding quests not just pure empty areas.
Hk pacing issues are frontloaded. The stretch from start to cloak dash is what is cited as the pacing issue. The main problem with that level design is that "progression" requires the player to navigate in a spiral without a compass to reach the ability to unlock greenpath. 90% of monkey brain tards cannot navigate without a compass from having just a map alone and tracking which exits they take out of rooms. Making them double back rather than progress in one singular direction further compounds the "problem". It is unfortunate game design because it doesn't take into account how retarded the average player is.
>It is unfortunate game design because it doesn't take into account how retarded the average player
This. My friends girlfriend also played HK and never had a problem with backtracking. The average retard is always retracing their steps, walking in circles or not doing things you usually try in vanias like shooting walls. It's really amazing that people try to say HK has horrible backtracking when it's the exact opposite, retards are not finding shortcuts and taking the long way.
I didn't have that problem personally, to me it was the tail end that felt like a chore and I just wanted to be done with it. It's still my favorite metroidvania of all time, but I didn't 100% it. I've completed worse games. This isn't a frontloaded issue.
I love the game's world design, I don't see what a compass has to do with anything.
Why is the game industry so secretive? I think a lot of the wait with Silksong could be made tolerable if they were just clearer about why they need to keep indefinitely delaying it. The radio silence and drip feed of information only makes people more antsy and ratchets expectations too high.

it genuinely looks insanely promising
how the fuck did it get a 1m budget though? The most ridiculous thing is that they straight up asked for it.
Desperation for silksong was very bad at the time. I don‘t get why people are so hyped for it when only 2 people on the dev team even made a game before and that‘s one that nobody has ever heard of
they actually hit 1m on the kickstarter? that might explain why theyre taking so long. it looks really good and if theyre fucking smart and putting that money in the right places and making it good id be impressed. they tweet out pretty frequently so who knows
their kickstarter is fucking huge fyi (in terms of goals)

god damn thats fucking huge. i never looked at the page i only saw the YT trailer and wishlisted it. im insanely pumped and they recently tweeted something about a date so it might be coming soon? if CS is good i hope more people do hand drawn games. theyre very fun to look at
forgot to say something
dont get me wrong, the game looks amazing, but >please give us over a hundred fucking thousand so we can make our game >please give us 75k (60% more) so we can add a simple boss rush mode >ok now give us another 75 thousand so we can add a hardmode >ok now give us another 50 thousand so we can add a colosseum of fools styled arena >ok now give us 50 thousand so we can do voice acting
>ok now give us FUCKING ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLARS AND TWENTY FIVE THOUSAND (1.33x total) so we can make a shitpost racing game that most people wont even be able to download normally >ok now give us ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND so we can add one new area and a plushie >ok now give us ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY THOUSAND so we can add some magic and a region for it >ok now give us ONE HUNDRED FUCKING THOUSAND so we can add the equivalent of a free expansion that should be typically funded with sales >ok now give us yet another whopping 150k so we can add animated cutscenes (1 million canadian dollars btw) >ok now give us 200k so we can add an alternate ending
this is some astronomic fucking bullshit
For comparison, HK was given $57k in kickstarter, and that was after it already had huge development
That's the right way of doing it. Games going overbudget is the norm, if you charge exactly as much as you need, you're fucked. Most of the money they're getting for the stretch goals is going to the main game, the stretch goals themselves, aside from stuff like voice acting and animated cutscenes that they have to commission people, make a very tiny difference in the game's budget.
You also don't want to end up with a bloated, boring game because you needed to keep adding features to get more money.

The release date will be revealed at the Xbox event on June 11th. The release will likely be at the end of 2023 or early 2024.
I can't wait for when it releases and everyone acts like they're excited but never actually play it and then all the threads on here asking if it was worth the wait with most saying no.
It's definitely not gonna be worth the wait. It'll be fine I'm sure.

To be fair, Team Cherry had also never made anything more than a flash game before
And they got barely 50k from their kickstarter. Throwing a million dollars at people with nothing to their name is insane

Kickstarter stretch goals are bonuses to encourage over-funding, not the prices for those specific features

Salt and Sanctuary is literally just a 2D souls ripoff, not a metroidvania
bro, you unlock movement abilities that function as "keys" to new areas. It's as metroidvania as it gets
It's never coming out.
