It was effectively like playing a difference franchise because the level of quality (graphics, ui, environments, polish) went right down the shitter, felt like a cheap chines knockoff, which makes sense because it's a switch port and I keep hearing it was made by a b team. I don't want to discredit Rise completely because it might have some good stuff, but going straight from World to Rise was honestly gross, I couldn't play it. if you think the guiding lands was grind fest then rise is in a different world. The endgame is leveling anomaly rank where you fight against afflicted monsters, which is basically the games version of tempered monsters with the same special effects. Now normally leveling something like that wouldn't be too bad, but it gets to the point where fighting the strongest monster doesn't even get a full level and you still need 100 more rank to get to the next monster tier. It's completely absurd.

Sounds lame but like with guiding lands I understand the intention behind "You've effectively beaten the game, here's a thing to grind out forever so you have a reason to play despite exhausting all the content." It's like they want an mmo type experience with a coop sandbox for an endgame so you can show off all your gear and experiment but its poorly done. There's only so many times I can kill the same thing in the same environment. It's fine during the main "story" as you're constantly getting new monsters and armour and things to try in between grinding the same monster occasionally, but when it remains static it gets lame. I think a race mode between two teams of hunters, to kill a monster the quickest, would be a more fun endgame thing. You'd probably have to standardize equipment loadouts like the arena though.

Hunting is going in totally clueless inside a locale, finding a monster by relying on observations of the different areas of the locale (with some help from the guild if a balloon is hanging around), studying its movement pattern while fighting it, and being rewarded for learning its movement pattern the next time you go into the hunt. No magical fairy dust insects needed.

4U is actually so dogshit it’s unreal, literally any other fricking choice (besides the first game) for someone’s favorite game I can respect even if it raises an eyebrow but not this trash.

As a newbie the part I hate most is being able to restock at camp at any point during a fight so there's literally no reason to challenge yourself and do a kill 5 monsters in one run hunt because it plays no difference (don't have to consider resources, just dont faint, again)
its not even the wirebug mechanics that bothers me, its how it looks. if it was some kind of wire launcher or a grapple hook it would be fine with me, but some magic bug that you hold with a laser beam is just so out of left field and ill fitting for MH, a series thats not super "realistic" but has always tried to appear grounded. tools and mechanical devices always made more sense to me than some literal magic thing, idk why they decided on that

Stopped reading there. Basic movement hunter actions shared between Iceborne and Sunbreak isn't any different and that's what's being tested in the video.
The video also showcases that in Sunbreak you can't roll out of the charged level 3 stationary hammer slam as fast as you can in IB. So if there's anything hunter faster here it's the IB hunter.

Hell no, some animations in Rise take more time to cancel for what they do compared to World so your positioning and timing must be on point at all times. If what you said is true there still is the problem of monsters not being up to speed with the hunter anyways, you are allowed a higher margin of error in World like in those rajang webms where you can be sloppy and not get hit.

Started with mhp1. Played p2, FU and 3U and world/iceborne. The DS games always looked like shit both visually and gameplay wise. Also skipped rise because it seemed like a giant step back.
I think it's better to not have an A/B team and just make one good game every 5 years or so. Or let the B team focus on post release support or something. I'd rather the games lean more into the hunting aspect too rather than boss rush. The technology we have now is more than capable of implementing the features.
If you're seen the picture of yomogi/chi/the other one, being flat/with big breasts all together, I assume it just changes the title screens to that picture, judging by the preview.

That's mostly determined by sharpness and also an indicator that you're hitting something you shouldn't be.
So prioritize weapon sharpness when looking for upgrades.
I had a dream I was playing a new Monster Hunter game. And it starts with a city being wiped out via volcanic eruption. So your job as a Monster Hunter is to help bring supplies and monster parts to the survivors to rebuild their village.
You start the game by falling in a hole with nothing but your undies and hunter's knife to cut vines and carve stuff. You create ropes from vines which you use to climb out of the hole. Then when you try to scavenge your destroyed wagon for supplies you get attacked by a new drome monster. You have to stun it by throwing rocks at it before picking up your sword and shield. Then you kill it and carve it. Then you walk to the survivor's camp.
Also tools have durability again but they go in your tool belt to free up space. You have pickaxes and bug nets, but also hatchets (for wood and bone cutting), fishing bait, and combo books to stuff your 10 slot belt with.

You can play as Yomogi with mods though. There's an old mod called Player be Princess that changes the Guild Cross layered armor to be the size of girls like Chichae, Komitsu, Yomogi.
I dont know much about the mod but I have seen artists on twitter use it combined with nude mods too. You'd probably have to head down to something like ATF for all the info.

No, it's dogshit. The games were better when each weapon had defined roles because it made their playstyles feel distinctly different.
Giving every weapon access to things like impact damage or counters homogenizes them all into the counterslop gameplay you see today

I want more shit to build up and customize. It would be great if we could build up our village. Start off with just your hunter and a small entourage in tents and as you bring fame, fortune and materials in with your hunts you can upgrade and grow the settlement, attract better smiths and chefs and all that shit. Expanding the follower system would be great for those of us who usually just played solo as well.
The ability to construct buildings around the map anywhere you want and build shit to help you get around in Wild Hearts was genius and I hope they steal it for MH6 if nothing else.

tbh any of the older games are good, i dont care much for the 3ds games at all but objectively 4U is probably the closest "classic" style game thats the most like world in terms of its systems and gameplay, but in terms of comfort and just fun i prefer FU and p3rd
if you think the guiding lands was grind fest then rise is in a different world. The endgame is leveling anomaly rank where you fight against afflicted monsters, which is basically the games version of tempered monsters with the same special effects. Now normally leveling something like that wouldn't be too bad, but it gets to the point where fighting the strongest monster doesn't even get a full level and you still need 100 more rank to get to the next monster tier. It's completely absurd.
Sounds lame but like with guiding lands I understand the intention behind "You've effectively beaten the game, here's a thing to grind out forever so you have a reason to play despite exhausting all the content." It's like they want an mmo type experience with a coop sandbox for an endgame so you can show off all your gear and experiment but its poorly done. There's only so many times I can kill the same thing in the same environment. It's fine during the main "story" as you're constantly getting new monsters and armour and things to try in between grinding the same monster occasionally, but when it remains static it gets lame. I think a race mode between two teams of hunters, to kill a monster the quickest, would be a more fun endgame thing. You'd probably have to standardize equipment loadouts like the arena though.

Hunting is going in totally clueless inside a locale, finding a monster by relying on observations of the different areas of the locale (with some help from the guild if a balloon is hanging around), studying its movement pattern while fighting it, and being rewarded for learning its movement pattern the next time you go into the hunt. No magical fairy dust insects needed.

Started with mhp1. Played p2, FU and 3U and world/iceborne. The DS games always looked like shit both visually and gameplay wise. Also skipped rise because it seemed like a giant step back.
I think it's better to not have an A/B team and just make one good game every 5 years or so. Or let the B team focus on post release support or something. I'd rather the games lean more into the hunting aspect too rather than boss rush. The technology we have now is more than capable of implementing the features.

I had a dream I was playing a new Monster Hunter game. And it starts with a city being wiped out via volcanic eruption. So your job as a Monster Hunter is to help bring supplies and monster parts to the survivors to rebuild their village.
You start the game by falling in a hole with nothing but your undies and hunter's knife to cut vines and carve stuff. You create ropes from vines which you use to climb out of the hole. Then when you try to scavenge your destroyed wagon for supplies you get attacked by a new drome monster. You have to stun it by throwing rocks at it before picking up your sword and shield. Then you kill it and carve it. Then you walk to the survivor's camp.
Also tools have durability again but they go in your tool belt to free up space. You have pickaxes and bug nets, but also hatchets (for wood and bone cutting), fishing bait, and combo books to stuff your 10 slot belt with.

You can play as Yomogi with mods though. There's an old mod called Player be Princess that changes the Guild Cross layered armor to be the size of girls like Chichae, Komitsu, Yomogi.

I didn't buy Rise after trying the demo because it was more Gen shit and I hated Gen. I'm perfectly fine skipping out on Monster Hunter entries. They always put out demos and I can see if I'll like this version or not.

I want all new maps, but they can use 4 as the aesthetic basis. For the love of god give us areas that the monster models and animations can actual handle though
Agreed, the limitations of 4 really pushed them to make a good art style to make up for it, it made good use of color but didn't go overboard like Gen. World has good graphics, it just needs a better art style to complement it.

Deserted Island would be so cool with World's level of detail. Imagine all the creatures they could put in the tidepools and reefs.
I like all monster hunter games i've played and i'm still buying the next one unless capcom really fricks something up and i bet plenty of people think the same way.
So why do these threads always degenerate into console wars and new vs old, I enjoyed both world and rise, but found rise more enjoyable to play in general because there is more fighting monsters and less stuff to waste time around it.
It's not like tracking monsters was any major issue in the older gen games either, you just learned where the monsters spawn in the beginning and to which rooms they can go and didn't even need paintballs besides quality of life.
Even if you were too dumb for that, you could just chug a psychoserum.
Although i do think that having to unlock monster indicators on the minimap like in world is a good thing.
Also, counters or other defensive options on weapons are a good thing, playing a weapon like SA or LS without any defensive options was tedious and forced you to spec into evasion skills or reposition every 5 seconds.
If such options get removed from most weapons in mh6 i'm just going back to the lance or guns instead of using different weapons.

No, it's dogshit. The games were better when each weapon had defined roles because it made their playstyles feel distinctly different.
Giving every weapon access to things like impact damage or counters homogenizes them all into the counterslop gameplay you see today
Worldbabs are peak Dunning-Kruger effect, if that was your first game, your opinion is totally invalid. The game had its merits, lets be fair, but mantles, softening parts and the tracking were bad additions, I'd complain about how innecessarily big maps are, but the ancient forest is the only one guilty of that.
It also had good fights, and the last one was very well done, but the weapon design was literally Iron/Bone weapon with stuff attached to it, at least it seemed like they made it a bit better in iceborne.
Also "muh graphics" is not a true point on why World is better.
Hopefully back to World quality instead of simplified console ports.

I want more shit to build up and customize. It would be great if we could build up our village. Start off with just your hunter and a small entourage in tents and as you bring fame, fortune and materials in with your hunts you can upgrade and grow the settlement, attract better smiths and chefs and all that shit. Expanding the follower system would be great for those of us who usually just played solo as well.
The ability to construct buildings around the map anywhere you want and build shit to help you get around in Wild Hearts was genius and I hope they steal it for MH6 if nothing else.
