Yotsuyu survives, joins your party and becomes a a dommy mommy who constantly humiliates Alphinaud for being a b***h. Estinien is impressed by this and they enter a situationship together
With how poop the netcode can be even as someone generally at 66ms, it would've not worked well at all. But I do wish the Jobs weren't so fricking stingy, this 2 minute burst rotation timer crap is uninventive and several of them barely reflect their FF selves outside of PvP. There really needs to be a combat overhaul that isn't a one-job-at-a-time-as-we-destroy-everything-unique-about-them crapshoot again.
she was too evil to get a redemption arc and if she lived on as tsuyu she wouldn't have the whole domme thing going on which was the only reason people liked her
at least 6.x gave us an even better femdom character who also died
Yotsuyu >Was evil because of years of abuse >Had potential for redemption because she accepted that her actions were horrible and that 'Tsuyu' deserved to live
Athena >Was evil because she was a schizo >Completely unrepentant and insists she was right in her actions till the very end
Don't forget for Athena >P12SP1 is about how showing her that all her fricking theories are wrong >Literally push a "UR WRONG IM RIGHT" for P2
Autistic AND schizo piece of shit
Don't forget for Athena >P12SP1 is about how showing her that all her fricking theories are wrong >Literally push a "UR WRONG IM RIGHT" for P2

>Was evil because of years of abuse
i don't think all the domans she tortured and/or murdered are going to care that she had a tragic reason for it >Had potential for redemption because she accepted that her actions were horrible and that 'Tsuyu' deserved to live
the whole point of the tsuyu arc was that she didn't really have potential for redemption, tsuyu showed what she could've been if she didn't suffer horrible abuse but yotsuyu was too far gone and she was never going to be able to outrun her memories forever. she realized this, which is why it's heavily implied that she summoned tsukuyomi to commit suicide-by-WoL (and kill that homosexual asahi as a bonus) >Completely unrepentant and insists she was right in her actions till the very end
that's what makes her based
Yeah her wanted suicide via WoL is actually kinda fricking depressing. Though it does show that she accepted that yes, she was a monster for what she did which in itself was pretty neat
Same with Zenos. Imagine if his final speech was >Now I see the error of my ways...human connection would have been more fulfilling than fighting...forgive me, my friend...
The best villains are the ones who go "frick you, I'd do it again" when they die

Fordola and Meteion are really the only antagonist that questions her own convictions. But Meteion's 'convictions' were never hers to begin with so she doesn't count. Lahabrea, Thordan, Zenos, Emet-Selch all stick to their guns till the end. Emet and Elidibus don't seem apologetic, just admits that you are the better man for the job since in the end you both wanted the same thing.

i loved when you tell lahabrea how schizo he gets in the future and he's just like "yeah i could see myself doing that"

yeah, athena being a psycho is compelling when every other ascian is a wuw anime boy who did nothing wrong. a character who's such a contrarian that her response to her impending death is >yeah but are you SURE my arguments are wrong :^)
is a character I can get behind as an antagonist. unless they're going to become an ally like ysale this "they had a bad childhood =(" shit they pull with literally every villian in this game is just a way to have cheap melodrama without effecting characters that are going to stay around for marketing purposes
>Pandaemonium has a kino story that deals with characters we care about, ties up several long-running mysteries, and somehow manages to make Lahabrea interesting >MSQ is a boring filler arc that relies entirely on FF4 nostalgiabait
Why the FRICK didn't they make Panda the MSQ and the Void shit the raid series?
I started having a good time when I infiltrated eulmore with Alphinaud, called him stinky, met the Chais, etc. I dunno, I like seeing strange little societies, not just always grindan monsters.

combat
although they could make it perfect and I still wouldnt come back because there's so many other things that could be fixed to make the game enjoyable, but combat is the biggest problem
honestly FF14 is both on its greatest high and its deepest low right now
the story patch content has fun fights but the story itself is fricking abysmal. the content release got fricked by covid but they also explicitly downsized a lot of shit because of XVI. the raids are fun and that's functionally all we actually have because the Variant/Criterion dungeon stuff is incredibly unremarkable, and yet it's our main dose of content focus going forwards besides the final alliance raid and the two story additions. People are getting bored, the tomestone gear grind is boring, the Relics have been turned into a generic tomestone grind beyond all else like they ran out of time to really do much of anything with it. and people are finally becoming more and more vocal about two minute rotations and how dull everything's becoming for actually doing your job.
at the same time it's also suffering lows in subs because large swaths of people don't really care all that much for this shit, and every new update has a monkey's paw like Island Sanctuary being mobile game tier sweatshop badness.
but it's still super fricking popular making bank.
Calling Island sanctuary a monkey's paw is a fricking understatement.
The entire sphere of content of Island sanctuary is a joke. A bad fricking joke.
The entire point of it is centered around TIME-GATED PROGRESSION.
You can't have fun with it. It's not allowed.
Fricking homosexualry like this should be illegal when it comes to regulation of games, I'm not even fricking with you saying this. ANYTHING would have been better than what they shat out.
I'm paying a monthly sub for this dogshit? Oh I can place furniture down on my island now?
Like sprinkling sugar on a piece of shit.
Frick SE they honestly deserve to go under. Being a Jap company that inherently favors seniority and worthless board of directors.
Frick them all, I hope they crash and burn.
In all fairness that’s just an evolution of the standard MMO model. Take raiding for example. Once my static has a fight down, there’s no reason we shouldn’t be able to repeat it for gear as we please instead of being restricted to a once a week lockout. The only function is to extend subscriptions. At least raiding is fun, shame island sanctuary is shit
The base game split up Eorzea into a few dozen zones, with some sections of the continent we used to be able to go in 1.0 still abandoned post-calamity or places we've never been. Then in further expansions, they took regions a solid third of the size up to larger than Eorzea and condensed them to a single fricking zone. They need to stop that shit. It makes the setting feel even smaller than it already does with zones being segregated by loading screens, instead of the world being explorable with natural transitions like most MMOs. Even if it meant we'd never go to most of the planet's regions, at least we'd have the benefit of imagination filling in gaps in the world.
And that's a good start, but it's not what I said. I want the zones they make to encompass a smaller(more realistic) geographic portion of their regions, not become a single-zone omnibus that bucket-tools an area several times larger than any ARR city + associated zones on the map.
Y'know. I tried to play GW2 before I played XIV. At most I sunk around a week into it before I uninstalled it. Good story and gameplay, but actually doing content with other players is like fricking pulling teeth
Some characters need better fleshing out. Take Nanamo for example >Sultana of Ul'dah >Only meets the WoL like three times in ARR >Goes from being a minor acquaintance to close friend strangely fast(this only makes sense if you start in Ul'dah) >Has all this implied backstory that is shown in snippets >Is one of the few characters that would 100% stand behind WoL regardless of political bullshit >Variant Dungeon only showed a bit more with the reveal that her parents were actually combat capable >Her body double is apparently her cousin
Seriously, Aymeric and Hien get fleshed out yet characters like Nanamo get minor things and that's it
You interact with her in a couple of crafting job quests. mostly in the goldsmith quests since you make items out of her mother's israeliteels but besides that i don't think we really interacted with her all that much.
I know that, but it just feels like they intentionally sideline her despite her being essentially the head of the Eorzean Alliance. Like yeah, I get she isn't a fighter(I still think she knows basically thaumaturgy) but shit, have her be more involved.
>Lots of doh quest appearances >literally one of the first npcs you have interaction with if you start in uldah >the whole build up to HW >the whole sildah line
She gets quite a bit, honestly. She got kinda gimped when it came to the EW role quests though.
>gets an entire variant dungeon >gets the entirety of the ARR finale >stars in the cinematic for HW >driving force behind a lot of political movement
You just say that because she is a fem Lala. Same people that cry that Krile of all people didnt have enough representation, despite being in more content than an other Scion.
Kanye had a minor supporting role in HW and was the first medic on the scene when Thancred got isekai'd. she also personally takes the field in both Ala Mhigo and Ghimlyt Dark. the tank role quest was specifically about her
I played the shit out of it when it launched. I think I got SMN to 42 or something. Played XI ages ago and I don't remember getting out of Valkurm even. Kinda want to go back too
god a PLD to like 58 so very close to the cap but then I burned out.
did all the nation quests, zilart and a lot of CoP too.
sick game but massive commitment.
I have yet to see a game with a more dogshit endgame gearing system. I don't even mind the grind, but the amount of time gating would make WoW blush. Shit, even the Story quests are moronicly time gated. The combat is fine, leveling is fun, but the juice aint worth the squeeze.
I'm tempted to try the free trial of this which I assume is something that exists still.
Ya its 15 days base game only. I would start rn and squish all that early city missions and then buy the game (unless you want to unlock an expansion job)
Free login for XI this Friday
I dont even remember what i was doing but comino back for sure for free login
Is there anything stupid about XI I need to know? I'm waiting for my XIV squadron to return in free trial before I turn in a bunch of challenges for higher level recruits so I have nothing better to do for 5 hours.
https://www.bg-wiki.com/ffxi/Quickstart_1-119_Guide
Just use that to complete the quest. Like it was a quest journal sincenif you wanna do them blind it will be the hardest shit youll ever do.
>over 1000 hours played >somehow missed every seasonal event >finally here for Moonfire Faire >select items from previous events will be for sale at a vendor! >here's your moronic power rangers suit bro >only fireworks at the vendor >want any of the other cosmetics? Head to mogstation!
I hate bugisraelites so much it's unreal
The most annoying part about that was we were so used to the way XI did it, where every year for each holiday all the previous events would still be available and you could get anything you'd ever missed.
SAM wears proper Samurai armor and is switched to a tank with skills like Armor Break, Magic Break, Power Break, etc. GNB is switched to DPS and given skills like Ice Barret, Thunder Barret, etc. Give it a proper Draw Function as a second resource that changes properties of certain skills between Physical/Magical.
Otherwise I'd get rid of tether mechanics, they're always dogshit.
Bro they can't even balance the ones they got now and you want more specs for each individual class, and more gear that would likely come with that as well? Pass.
Make overworld less useless. Once you're done with the MSQ, there's literally no reason to ever go out again other than mat farming. No one does FATEs anyway. Hunts are niche. I want a reason to go out there, not be forced to sit in cities where the only interesting stuff ever happens. It becomes a lobby MMO like PSO2.
they unironically need to turn hunts into bozja CEs, newer A/S-ranks have some interesting mechanics but you never see any of them because they get instaraped by trains. give them a zonewide alert as soon as they spawn, a short pre-fight timer where anyone who doesn't join in time can't participate, and scaling based on the amount of participants
it would give people a reason to hang out in the overworld and it would kill hunt trannies for good, there's literally no downside

because braindead morons that don't even want to play the game like this specimen
>turn the overworld into ubislop
no
would piss and shit themselves until the pussy in charge either reverts it back or nerfs it into the fricking ground. We literally aren't allowed to have nice things.
the issue with class customisation comes down to the meta, and if you arent using the meta then youre kicked and publicly blacklisted from all raid groups and then your entire world server because you went against the grain
or are you a shitter in the first place and dont do high end content in the first place fir you to not have to worry about the meta?
The vast majority of this game's playerbase are shitters who don't do high-end content, so why balance the game around the vocal minority? Class customization would make low-end content (which is 90% of the game) more interesting and if you want to do high-end content you can just swap to the meta builds. >but then there's no choice because I have to follow the meta to raid
Without customization you already have no choice in how you want to play your job so there is zero functional difference.
Because the entire game design is centered around high end. It's a theme park where high-end are the rides and casual dungeons are filler you could beat being afk and just autoattacking. They've shown they can make casual content with freedom of choice in builds with Bozja actions but have no interest in integrating that to the core game loop.
>Because the entire game design is centered around high end. It's a theme park where high-end are the rides and casual dungeons are filler you could beat being afk and just autoattacking.
But everyone does dungeons and only 10-20% of players are doing high-end shit. If the game is being designed around content that most people will never touch, that's a problem. I don't even really want class customization - multiple jobs on one character is more than enough freedom IMO - I just don't get the argument that "they can't do it because raiders will gravitate to the meta" when raiders will always gravitate to the meta even if it's inconsequential shit like a job doing 2% more DPS than another job in the same role. At the end of the day all I want is for low-end content to be less of a snoozefest, I don't care how they do it. >They've shown they can make casual content with freedom of choice in builds with Bozja actions but have no interest in integrating that to the core game loop.
Yeah I think this is the best compromise. Reworking every job to have customizable builds would be way too much work but they should go crazy with it in side content, BA and DRS are some of the most unique experiences in the game and I'd love to see more stuff in that vein.
Please compare jobs from different roles more. You're not being a mentally ill cultist enough.
Frick off.

In FFXIV's context you pump damage, and situational abilities have such little use in 99.99% of scenarios that almost all of them, save for legacy franchise abilities like Cover (which still falls into the category about to be mentioned) and other general defensive abilities like damage-reductions and party shields, got removed entirely, or added to Role Actions. Role Actions themselves are the replacement for the cross-class system used in ARR and Heavensward, which people mainly used to stack buff skills and damage spells, and had some annoying "must-haves" like Provoke, which while it served as an incentive to level up more than one class/job, also meant you were severely gimped compared to other players if you didn't do it. It also had a terrible problem where some classes just had nothing to offer any of the other classes, like Paladin having access to Raise from Conjurer as a cross-class skill but wasn't able to use it during combat, so it was just for reviving people in the overworld.

its an answer to one of the big questions about mmo design, which is should we bring the player or the class?
their stated philosophy regarding class balance is that they want every class to be able to do everything with about the same level of ability. this lets people play the class they want in everything. it effectively means that no class really stands out as best at anything. it makes entry into raiding smoother, because you don't have new players 'accidentally' leveling and gearing the wrong class and finding themselves stonewalled out of raiding or other high end stuff.
remember, of all major MMOs ffxiv has the LEAST amount of emphasis on raiding being THE endgame activity, especially paired with the functional and bland gearing system that you don't really have a need for BiS.
all of this also fits into their stated philosophy about not wanting the game to devour your life. this was especially bad in older games like FFXI in which once a group invested gear into a player, that player was obligated to show up and do EVERYTHING. this decision nips that practice in the bud. though yes it still happens, but gear isn't nearly as important or powerful as it is in other games.
i personally feel this is the best answer to the question of how players should approach games like this

The problem with XI is that the jobs have clear niches and strengths/weaknesses and also that leveling is a huge commitment. You could easily have diverse jobs in XIV because it's so easy to level new jobs.
XIV is the perfect game to have diverse jobs because one character can be every job and leveling is not difficult or very time consuming, but they don't utilize that strength in any way
10 months ago
Anonymous
the game isn't made to require that. its designed to be played as a JRPG with multiplayer being increasingly optional

That's even more reason to have diverse jobs because you won't be excluded from groups if you're running with trusts.

trusts aren't a replacement for multiplayer though. its just that the MSQ is becoming increasingly single player. trials seem to be the exception so far.
and there are still people who do hydaelyn normal with players because they can't beat it with trusts, even with 2 reraises and y'shtola being 100% correct in her movement at all times. it shows up far too often in my trial roulettes
is the MSQ too easy? if the aim is to make it as easy as a final fantasy game, its pretty close. though tbh i'm not a good example as i've been playing jrpgs since 1991

Why does everyone have to be able to beat it? This is supposed to be a GAME. Even Mario gets harder as you proceed through it. I really don't get why this community thinks that the existence of a narrative means that it should be impossible to struggle or that they should never have to be forced to get better.

Msq is easier than any classic ff game.
tbh anon, FF games haven't really fought back since FF4, beyond things like superbosses. FF1-3 being hard is more the game design of the era rather than being a franchise staple. i feel the problem with FFXIV's difficulty is that wild swings in numbers. leveling with just MSQ you'll be level 30ish when you become a scion which means you effectively are out of aggro range for msq level mobs. and then the sync happens and shit suddenly starts fighting back

bring the player not the class was the single most devastating design philosophy blizzard ever implemented and the stupid japs aped it from them
what a tragedy
I havent played in a while and I dont know what the frick all this shit is and what I should keep.
The full inventory triggers my autism though.
What should I keep/sell/toss?
Most of that can be thrown away. You have several one-off crafting mats that I presume you're not doing anything with, but they're not valuable. You also have quite a lot of raid tokens for gear. If any of those are Lv90 equips, trade for the ones that are upgrades for you, otherwise you're looking at glam crap at best.
The potions are all junk. The only one you need is the HQ one that refills 12k HP at max, they're cheaper than dirt on the MB and you can use them at any level. The food is a bunch of random crap, either use it or toss it and get one food item useful to your job(s). The materia's more of a mixed bag. You've got some IX and Xs in there which you'll want on Lv90 gear, but you don't need any materia lower than that so all of those can go. The yellow ones, battledance and piety, are trash regardless of tier. In that same vein you have some of the crystal tokens for VII and VIII materia, which are pointless now so you can safely toss them.
The fireworks are trash unless you really like using them around people. The Bozja currencies may still have a purpose for you(glams), so your call to keep them or not. I'm presuming the chest icons are lockboxes from Eureka/Bozja, go open them and see if anything real drops. You've also got a lot of sacks from PotD/HoH, open them as well. You're mostly going to get a bunch of shitty fireworks but there are a few desirable or even valuable things that might squirt out.
The two food furnishings are trash, even if you think you want to place them in your house/apartment someday they cost like 100 gil on the MB so there's no reason to burn inventory keeping them. Use the framer's kit and those TT cards(or sell them for MGP if you already have them). The Allagan coin is one of the game's few designated vendor trash items, sell it. You have one of the Bismarck crafting drops, again worthless because nobody wants the weapons for glam.
That's not exhaustive, but it does cover most of the junk.
toss/sell all those potions and any food not at your ilvl, save the IX and X materia and toss/sell the rest, get rid of all those random raid tokens (turn them in for gear, dump them in a retainer in case you might want the gear later, or toss them), put the crafting mats on the MB, and use the unlockables (framing kit, orchestrion roll, and TT cards, turn in the cards at the gold saucer for MGP if they're already obtained)
I just wish they'd do something about the combat. I'm not even talking about the fact that it's tab targeting or the GCDs but the complete lack of feedback when doing anything.
This game is masterclass on how not to make a satisfying combat system yet I keep resubbing.
the only reactive elements in gameplay are using your defensives and heal skills.
you never need to CC shit or do anything but spam x potency attacks.
40 binds per job and its nearly all just attacks. fricking ass.
>This game is masterclass on how not to make a satisfying combat system yet I keep resubbing.
Play warrior, primal rending a giant pack of mobs or using it as a fourth charge are both very satisfying. Especially with bloodwhetting, since you instantly go from 20%-100% health, and you then see your panicking healer wasted her Tetragrammaton on you.
Redo race animations. Compared to viera, most of the other races look stiff and moronic. Sadly, even if they agreed to do it, knowing how slow they are with doing anything we wouldn't see it happen for at least 5 years. Honestly feel like I might quit if femhroth turn out to be garbage after waiting this long without even seeing a teaser yet.
>I'll finally be able to buy my last twine this week for my raiding job >But I still need 2 twines, 1 solvent, and 1 shine on top of the raid pants for my WAR
Oh we actually did get an FF2 reference >Pandaemonium is about trying to keep the devil (Athena) down in there, end up killing her >Twelve raid is about trying to keep God(s) up in heaven (supposedly, obviously not), whoop their asses
>What's one thing you would change about FFXIV?
Legitimately a non ironic dating or bonding system. Not ending up in sweaty, awkwardly animated sex like BG3, but more ending on a sweeter note, even letting you choose if you want to go camaraderie or romance* during the whole event line. Being able to bond with the Scions would make the story that much more meaningful, and I am legit surprised they haven't done that yet.
*you get to romance one person and that is permanent.
Weather conditions for Sightseeing. Only reason I'm still on the FT is because I'm trying to complete the ARR ones and some of them are some bullshit RNG to complete, I've been doing them for months, I could have had an Anima weapon by now
I liked the riddles they had for ARR. And then starting with Heavensward the log is like, "I dunno, it's up high in Western Coerthas somewhere. Do I have to tell you everything? Go out and find it yourself. Frick."
I would add back in Job Quests. I really feel like they added a very necessary amount of context and lore to jobs that just doesn't exist now. I want them to delve deeper into the nitty gritty of the jobs and why they work and what implications that has for the setting. There's basically zero fricking info for the newest jobs. How does it work? idfk whatever you can summon a voidsent now have fun. Does Bard or Dancer have any relation at all with Dynamis? Who fricking knows because there will never be any more elaboration on any job after it's first handful of quests that don't really have much to do with the job at all.
I'm still seething that the SCH job quest ends with us curing the tonberry curse, which is a fricking massive development lore-wise, but we will literally never see anything happen with Nym because it's in a job quest
At least the Lala romance was pretty cute
6.5 - golbez does a twist and reveals something, zeromus was just a distraction
6.55 - yshtola finds out that the thing can destroy the world but to save it you need to die
6.56 - you sacrifice yourself and you live but everyone forgets about you
can it work or does the lore just fall apart?
WOL is with Alphinaud in the teaser. Really, the whole purpose of 6.1-6.5 is a mini arc with a “final boss” to resolve before Dawntrail starts. The plan is for 6.1 to be an alternate starting point for new players, which is why it reintroduces the Scions over time and has the new Codex.
>All the Fae in Voeburt when Feo Ul goes on another schizo rant about how her Darling Sapling should be mating pressing her instead of that small lady in the cat hood
I can't think of a group of developers that are or were held less accountable than those of FFXIV, other than random meaningless meme shit like "lol grapes lol so fanny"
Yes, I think they did tank buffs within a week or two aswell but left SMN and RDM to the next patch too.

>100% expecting the ability to relocate leylines in the next expansion due to current raid design.
Keep dreaming, people were calling for this kinda stuff this expac and last expac. It's up there with "positionals will be completely removed next expac, you'll see", which has also been called for since Stormblood ended

the impact of positionals has been lowered every expansion since sb ended
10 months ago
Anonymous
Lowered positional impact also corresponds with raid bosses and dungeon bosses repositioning themselves constantly, positionals with the same severity would be significantly more annoying now than they were during Stormblood. We also just got Reaper which still has positionals as part of its design.

Bosses always turned south for no reason, them moving middle doesn't make them harder

Bosses turn around and teleport way more than they did in Stormblood and prior, is the point.

>repositioning themselves constantly
you mean teleporting 1 inch back into the middle of the room?
that doesn’t matter for hitting positionals at all unless your tank was terrible at moving the boss (in which case you would have had a terrible time hitting positionals with them back in sb too)

>you mean teleporting 1 inch back into the middle of the room?
Half of the time is not that close even if your tnak is good.
Not particularly defending them. Since WoW did continents without loading between zones all the way back in 2004, I presume this is a thing because they wanted ARR to run on ps3. However as someone who tried out Everquest p1999, I can compliment how they were smoothed out. Compared to just hittign an invisible wall that freezes you until you get yeeted to adjacent zone, you have stuff like: >loading screen portal at the bottom of stairs, enter, see your character run up during loading screen, ejected at the top of stairs >enter the bridge on one side, see character run across the bridge during load, exit on the other side
I think they artificially slowed down the VAs in ARR because they were worried ESLs wouldn’t be able to understand them. Minfilia’s voice in particular was electronically modified.
Usually when they're complaining about healers or tanks being homogenized what they actually mean is Scholar, AST cards (specifically the cards and no real regard for any other aspect of the job) and Dark Knight, too.
>spent the whole day trying to kill golbez ex for the first time >saw gale sphere 2 twice in total
Fricking end me already. How difficult is it to understand that group 1 is north and group 2 is south holy frick
It's actually really popular with the giga casuals that don't even unlock normal mode raids from what I've seen in stuff like novice network. I don't understand how anyone can enjoy it, but there here we are
I feel like it has tons of potential but yeah it needs time and work put into it
- you can make houses and invite npcs to live in them like in dark cloud 2
- second island with different biomes and themes (doman style, meracydian style)
- make a more involved minigame for specific gathering points, they can even reuse minigames from the golden saucer for special gathering points
- you can set "correct" npcs in an area and they will unlock specific progression again like in dark cloud 2
The problem is that they can't fully commit to it since people will complain why there's so much work put into it
there should be a 4 boss normal/savage raid tier every single major X.X patch instead of once every other patch
there should be 2 extreme trials per patch
there should be atleast 3 new zones, exploratory or otherwise, with associated story developments and fates per expansion
there should be 1 ba/dr overworld 24 man to conclude the added zone story per expansion
there should be a v/c dungeon every X.X5 patch
BLM PVP kind of sucks, or I just don't get the concept of how to play it. Use Atherial Manipulation for Swiftcasting, hit them with Fire or Ice depending on chasing, or damaging, Paradox, then Superflare?
Think of BLM less as a nuker and more of a CC specialist that can swooce in and nuke when the time is right. You don't want to slug it out, you want to hang back and help your team start and end the fight. Freeze someone to start a fight out, pop limit break and splash them with more CC/damage, then pop in to do damage and clean up.
being a lvl 41 sprout myself, it is entirely possible for them to get all the way there while having NO clue about anything else apart from the MSQ not even job quests, t. reached lvl 40 and got told 'dude you should do your job quests' and the last job quest i did was at lvl 10 or some shit
yeah true, that's why for my sprout friends I tell them to add all their moves to their hotbard even before unlocking them so if they ever reach a level where they should unlock a move and haven't I tell them its job quest time.
Hard Mode between normal and savage. Copy paste the Savage fight, slap aoe markers on it, make instant death mechanics deal damage and apply a stackable damage down instead. Savage shouldn't be where you learn a fight by launching yourselves into death walls every new mechanic presented, it should be about knowing the fight perfectly and knowing exactly what you and your allies need to do.
Which dance instructor would you attend, one that partially teaches you the dance and bullies you and sometimes your friends every time you frick up or one that barely teaches you and punches you and your friends in the face every time you frick up? 90% of the content in the game is intended to be done blind and then savage is designed in the exact opposite direction.
Savage will be just as hard as before, you still won't clear Hard mode without doing the mechanics properly, and the rewards would be 1 savage book so if old man jenkins can't do savage but can somehow do hard he can sub for 2 1/2 months to get 1 weapon out of P4H and shit. It's absolutely the most lowball easily coded implementation of a Hard mode that doesn't compromise the difficulty or throw out extravagant rewards for free.
Most people don't even attempt savage, those that do mostly leave after a mediocre experience, those that stay generally don't get a full 1-4 clear especially when it's relevant, and that leaves some microscopic amount of people getting everything done while it's current content. With Hard mode the people too scared to try will have no excuse, people who are new to savages will learn old and new mechanics, the less intelligent can more easily learn without issue, PuG Savages will improve immensely because we all know the community will enforce linking their hard mode clear, the top end people will benefit from having a larger pool of proper savage players to pull from, and people will actually see, do, and stay subbed for content that is largely unused by most of the player base.
Honestly it’s be nice for a low stakes way to practice shit like p9 limit cut when it comes out, rather than
30 minutes to form the group
30 minutes of wiping before the limit cut
2 people rage quit, they’re replaced.
20 minutes to get they replacement
1 more wipe pre mechanic ur actually trying to practice
2 attempts at limit cut
Group disbands.
It's why I want my fricking hard mode, they have that stupid god damn "lol just for practice!" setting in duty finder that doesn't do a fricking thing that no one uses.
Hard content is designed to be wiped over and over until you memorize the encounter, so a couple bad/inexperienced players are almost sure to frick everything up repeatedly. And then if you are not 100% certain in your own ability, you really do not want to be the one bad player that ruins a party.
Hence Hard Mode, let homies learn the fight without fricking everyone else over. Savage isn't going to magically become easier, if you can't memorize the dance perfectly in Hard mode you're going to die or kill everyone else all the same. There's still going to be wipes in both settings all the time and you won't beat enrage ever in crafted gear if the group mechanics aren't done properly in Hard or multiple DPS get slapped with the heaviest 2 stacked damage down debuffs of all time.
Savages shouldn't function like Ultimates, if people want to slam their heads into death walls all day they can do it there, there's already plentiful shenaniganery and dev time put into them and that can be the truly supreme meme hardcore content so the turbo autists have Ults, autists have Savage, lesser autists have Hard, and casuals have Normals and Extremes. It's all wins all the way down for minimal coding effort. Making them Savages is difficult, making Hard should be simple.
That literally adresses 0 of the issues explained by the anon i replied to.

Didn't read that far back in the chain. But extremes fill that niche of hard mode, basic stuff like healer stack, pair stacks and spreads experience usually carries over.
Main issue recently is the current extremes having hard body checks or the fight being over if a healer dies before a healer stack.

It’s weird in person because it’s an announcement for an audience that isn’t there. To be at a fan fest you would have to have been playing the game which means you own a PlayStation or pc.
The deafening silence as Phil came on was kind of funny.
It was so weird in person. It was the most anti-Ganker vibes because everyone there was somewhere between ambivalent to it or excited not at they prospect of personally benefitting from it as much as it being a thing that could allow more people to explain the game. At the same time, Japan was nailing their CHA rolls, while Phil came off as needing to have had a couple drinks to loosen up because his delivery was just so stilted and obviously overly rehearsed.

it's even weirder in the fact the accounts are platform-exclusive, which means even if you for some reason already have pc/steam/ps5 account you'd need to start a fresh new one and start from scratch to play on your xbox.
More 'midcore' content, dungeons where mobs are something to be reckoned with instead of trash to pull and aoe, more different feeling jobs (frick the balance considerations), more open dungeons, platforming in actual content, a Fortnite crossover, frickable Y'shtola, explodable Y'shtola, better dyeable versions of the ARR gear. >one
Oh
The jumping thing
In geometry, a Platonic solid is a convex, regular polyhedron in three-dimensional Euclidean space. Being a regular polyhedron means that the faces are congruent (identical in shape and size) regular polygons (all angles congruent and all edges congruent), and the same number of faces meet at each vertex.
>remember what 1-50 levelling is like
between doing the hunting log, your job quests, and the leveling queue you'll go from 1-50 in like 3 days. The only grim part people have is roughly 47-50, which might require some trips to aurum vale.
>The only grim part people have is roughly 47-50, which might require some trips to aurum vale
Spam Darkhold then do leveling roulette for the aurum levels. Problem solved
Unironically how are they gonna expand the jobs in Dawntrail
6.0 was already a lot of "old animation but cooler" like Raiden Thrust, and they can't just add more high potency burst when it's already causing balance issues
It's a recurring tap-heal you can panic fire to blow all of it at once, it's close enough to Excogitation to make the comparison even with a generally different use case
I don't think FF16 would have been any different tbh
Modest success was already the ARR up to Stormblood years and it very likely saved Squeenix and got Yoshida put in charge of developing FF16 + divorcing a bunch of Heavensward staff from the MMO to develop it
I would be down for making 123 combo one button but some purists seem to screech over it. Players should be making more decisions in there rotation, not being starved for keybinds or crossbar slots.
Thanks. In all seriousness though nobody parses in my static, I'm curious as to why you think MNK is hard? In my experience playing it, it basically plays itself and the only time you have to think in your rotation is how you order your GCDs in your 120s burst, and even that's extremely generous to where you really don't have to do it perfectly and it's not a major DPS loss either way. The rest is just muscle memory.

in order to keep your rotation running smoothly/optionally instead of running into jank during the 60m burst that makes the 120 burst less good then it should be you have to do counterinuitive things like refresh twin snakes early because its only a 20 potency loss vs true strike but enables way better stuff under your off minute riddle of fire and a few other things like this, but you can literally just get the pattern down, look at your dot timer if the boss mechanics start forcing downtime to re adjust, and hit buttons
still much better then any other monk that came before outside of TK rotation though
Primal has to be the worst pvp server NA. I don't care that their best won the CCRC, the average IQ of casual players is astoundingly bad and there's no difference between casual and ranked below top 30 here.
6y iaijutsu, dps movement being neutral with other uses of kenki so you can justify using it way more, and third eye being a pure dps increase you're encouraged to do as often as possible instead of a refund for unavoidable aoe are all way more interesting then kaiten was, which was just a cool animation you can mod back in attached to a move with a hyper binary use that doesn't require any thinking at all
kill lalafels
>What's one thing you would change about FFXIV?
Classic 1.0 servers?
Sweaty babymaking sex in cat pusi.

SAUCE?
Pretty sure that's from the Highschool AU manga they made. The one that conveniently leaves out WoL
Damn it, I wanted porn.
I bet they regret killing yotsuyu off
If they can bring Zenos back they can bring her back.
Yeah definitely.
Zenos came back via Echogan frickery.
she was too evil to get a redemption arc and if she lived on as tsuyu she wouldn't have the whole domme thing going on which was the only reason people liked her
at least 6.x gave us an even better femdom character who also died
Yotsuyu
>Was evil because of years of abuse
>Had potential for redemption because she accepted that her actions were horrible and that 'Tsuyu' deserved to live
Athena
>Was evil because she was a schizo
>Completely unrepentant and insists she was right in her actions till the very end
Don't forget for Athena
>P12SP1 is about how showing her that all her fricking theories are wrong
>Literally push a "UR WRONG IM RIGHT" for P2
Autistic AND schizo piece of shit
dont care shes hot i can fix her
P12SP2 literally make her worse
what part of "i can fix her" dont you understand
She was a good villain.
yunalesca vibes
>Was evil because of years of abuse
i don't think all the domans she tortured and/or murdered are going to care that she had a tragic reason for it
>Had potential for redemption because she accepted that her actions were horrible and that 'Tsuyu' deserved to live
the whole point of the tsuyu arc was that she didn't really have potential for redemption, tsuyu showed what she could've been if she didn't suffer horrible abuse but yotsuyu was too far gone and she was never going to be able to outrun her memories forever. she realized this, which is why it's heavily implied that she summoned tsukuyomi to commit suicide-by-WoL (and kill that homosexual asahi as a bonus)
>Completely unrepentant and insists she was right in her actions till the very end
that's what makes her based
fix her? i want her to make me worse
Yeah her wanted suicide via WoL is actually kinda fricking depressing. Though it does show that she accepted that yes, she was a monster for what she did which in itself was pretty neat
That's exactly why people like her and Emet. Confidence in held convictions is attractive to people.
Same with Zenos. Imagine if his final speech was
>Now I see the error of my ways...human connection would have been more fulfilling than fighting...forgive me, my friend...
Emet and Elidibus don't seem apologetic, just admits that you are the better man for the job since in the end you both wanted the same thing.
i loved when you tell lahabrea how schizo he gets in the future and he's just like "yeah i could see myself doing that"
Doing his job.
yeah, athena being a psycho is compelling when every other ascian is a wuw anime boy who did nothing wrong. a character who's such a contrarian that her response to her impending death is
>yeah but are you SURE my arguments are wrong :^)
is a character I can get behind as an antagonist. unless they're going to become an ally like ysale this "they had a bad childhood =(" shit they pull with literally every villian in this game is just a way to have cheap melodrama without effecting characters that are going to stay around for marketing purposes
>Pandaemonium has a kino story that deals with characters we care about, ties up several long-running mysteries, and somehow manages to make Lahabrea interesting
>MSQ is a boring filler arc that relies entirely on FF4 nostalgiabait
Why the FRICK didn't they make Panda the MSQ and the Void shit the raid series?
because people wanted lower stakes. Athena is the second most powerful being we've taken out in the story without plot powers or a godlike helper
Why would they regret it? All of ew was just about killing old hags
my dick regrets it
damn imagine the smell
So when does Shadowbringers get good? I'm at the bunny secret place and going into a pyramid with Yshotla.
Never, sb was the last time the game was good
the bits that everyone gushes over are all in the last quarter of the story and the .x patches
It doesn't, though amaurot is cool visually
you're past the worst part of shadowbringers. its all heavy from this point on
I didn't start really enjoying ShB until like 60-70% of the way through the base expansion
So mid-Othard?
Honestly, one of my best friends knocked it out recently, as she hated Ala Mhiggo as much as she adored Kugane/Othard.

>She's barely taller than a lalafell
She's like 4'5. Popotos are 3'0 at max and like 2'7 at min
Go actualy compare your height to her. She's under 4' tall.
She really isn't
You know she literally appears alongside lalas in the event right? You can clearly see she's barely a head taller. Not to mention you can just raceswap with anamnesis to compare anytime.
khloe is not 4'5.

combat
although they could make it perfect and I still wouldnt come back because there's so many other things that could be fixed to make the game enjoyable, but combat is the biggest problem
honestly FF14 is both on its greatest high and its deepest low right now
the story patch content has fun fights but the story itself is fricking abysmal. the content release got fricked by covid but they also explicitly downsized a lot of shit because of XVI. the raids are fun and that's functionally all we actually have because the Variant/Criterion dungeon stuff is incredibly unremarkable, and yet it's our main dose of content focus going forwards besides the final alliance raid and the two story additions.
HW zones were the same size as 3 or 4 ARR zones
but 75% of that size was pointless empty space to make flying take longer
And that's a good start, but it's not what I said. I want the zones they make to encompass a smaller(more realistic) geographic portion of their regions, not become a single-zone omnibus that bucket-tools an area several times larger than any ARR city + associated zones on the map.
Remove all non-Lalafell. Small Power.
I would change to the better MMO
Y'know. I tried to play GW2 before I played XIV. At most I sunk around a week into it before I uninstalled it. Good story and gameplay, but actually doing content with other players is like fricking pulling teeth
Are these bot threads?
yes, im a bot
Beep Boop
Some characters need better fleshing out. Take Nanamo for example
>Sultana of Ul'dah
>Only meets the WoL like three times in ARR
>Goes from being a minor acquaintance to close friend strangely fast(this only makes sense if you start in Ul'dah)
>Has all this implied backstory that is shown in snippets
>Is one of the few characters that would 100% stand behind WoL regardless of political bullshit
>Variant Dungeon only showed a bit more with the reveal that her parents were actually combat capable
>Her body double is apparently her cousin
Seriously, Aymeric and Hien get fleshed out yet characters like Nanamo get minor things and that's it
You interact with her in a couple of crafting job quests. mostly in the goldsmith quests since you make items out of her mother's israeliteels but besides that i don't think we really interacted with her all that much.
I know that, but it just feels like they intentionally sideline her despite her being essentially the head of the Eorzean Alliance. Like yeah, I get she isn't a fighter(I still think she knows basically thaumaturgy) but shit, have her be more involved.
>useless character is useless eeeeeeeaaaayyy
And yet Lyse still gets content
She appeared like 2 times in 5 years
>Lots of doh quest appearances
>literally one of the first npcs you have interaction with if you start in uldah
>the whole build up to HW
>the whole sildah line
She gets quite a bit, honestly. She got kinda gimped when it came to the EW role quests though.
she got her own scene during alphinaud's cashing in of all our favors. she has a complete character arc and its one of my favorite in the game
She's been my favorite non-scion since 2014. I was fricking furious when they did the poisoning.
I basically have her minion out 24/7.
>gets an entire variant dungeon
>gets the entirety of the ARR finale
>stars in the cinematic for HW
>driving force behind a lot of political movement
You just say that because she is a fem Lala. Same people that cry that Krile of all people didnt have enough representation, despite being in more content than an other Scion.
yeah the other two city leaders are way more irrelevant than her, merlwyb got one patch and kan-e-senna got uhhhhh
ummmmmmm
Merlwyb's biggest achievement was having a unique gun shooting animation. Kan-e-senna got Y'shtola back.
Kanye had a minor supporting role in HW and was the first medic on the scene when Thancred got isekai'd. she also personally takes the field in both Ala Mhigo and Ghimlyt Dark. the tank role quest was specifically about her

Free login for XI this Friday
shared sub doko
I think Id just play on Horizon instead. I still have a character there. Maybe its time to return.
The timegate in retail is long gone.
Ya its 15 days base game only. I would start rn and squish all that early city missions and then buy the game (unless you want to unlock an expansion job)
I'm tempted to try the free trial of this which I assume is something that exists still.
Ok I'll try it for the free login and if it's dogshit I'll at least only lose my time, if it's good I'll consider subbing.

Why did you ignore the event Anon?
I missed the snowman mount for Christmas and I'm still mad
The most annoying part about that was we were so used to the way XI did it, where every year for each holiday all the previous events would still be available and you could get anything you'd ever missed.
Nah hot take
They shouldn't rerun it or put it in the cash shop

Unironically this. I dont need some degenerate word diarhea shitting up my chat every ten seconds because they want to recruit for their troony FC.
What does a qwertybraaap+ feel like?
Revert back to arr leveling experience so people will leave the cities, group up to do fates and leves together.
Otherwise I'd get rid of tether mechanics, they're always dogshit.
just give jobs specs bro
Bro they can't even balance the ones they got now and you want more specs for each individual class, and more gear that would likely come with that as well? Pass.
Scholar and Summoner
Make overworld less useless. Once you're done with the MSQ, there's literally no reason to ever go out again other than mat farming. No one does FATEs anyway. Hunts are niche. I want a reason to go out there, not be forced to sit in cities where the only interesting stuff ever happens. It becomes a lobby MMO like PSO2.
>turn the overworld into ubislop
no
Fricking moron, go look at what MMOs used to be like even 10 years ago. Overworld actually mattered. Idiotic zoomer.
they unironically need to turn hunts into bozja CEs, newer A/S-ranks have some interesting mechanics but you never see any of them because they get instaraped by trains. give them a zonewide alert as soon as they spawn, a short pre-fight timer where anyone who doesn't join in time can't participate, and scaling based on the amount of participants
it would give people a reason to hang out in the overworld and it would kill hunt trannies for good, there's literally no downside
They can't do that or
because braindead morons that don't even want to play the game like this specimen
would piss and shit themselves until the pussy in charge either reverts it back or nerfs it into the fricking ground. We literally aren't allowed to have nice things.
fates are how you get the thavnairian ribbon, the true relic grind of ew
The playerbase
I want class customisation. Every job plays the same and its boring.
the issue with class customisation comes down to the meta, and if you arent using the meta then youre kicked and publicly blacklisted from all raid groups and then your entire world server because you went against the grain
or are you a shitter in the first place and dont do high end content in the first place fir you to not have to worry about the meta?
>j-just make your own PF bro
>Every job plays the same and its boring.

>every job plays the same
>now its roles
all of your ilk's bait is the same
Frick off.
when I say every job plays the same it’s because they don’t have shit like death grip or ring of peace or shimmer or ursols vortex or demonic gateway or bop/spellwarding
abilities that make having that class in your group noticeable
What you're actually complaining about is raid design. Those would be useless fricking abilities in every piece of content in XIV
it’s a two part problem, the jobs don’t have them because the raid fights are bland and the raid fights are bland because the jobs have no unique tools to deal with anything other than the patchwerk choreography
ffxiv is the only rpg I’ve ever played where you can choose your class and it has no effect on how you play
wow didn’t invent classes
sounds like you already enjoy world of warcraft. why don't you play it instead?
Well yeah jobs don't have those abilities because they're not useful at all in FFXIV's context. Hell they're rarely useful in WoW's context.
But it surely adds to the "rpg". Thats what it used to be at least. Having a vast kit and use the things you need for the moment.
It also had a terrible problem where some classes just had nothing to offer any of the other classes, like Paladin having access to Raise from Conjurer as a cross-class skill but wasn't able to use it during combat, so it was just for reviving people in the overworld.
>when I say every job plays the same it's because I mean something completely different
t. moron
If I said homogenized you’d still complain that they don’t all have the exact same rotation so they aren’t homogenized
it’s a good start and honestly the single coolest ability in the game
but as i and those other anons mentioned it’s almost completely useless because the devs don’t want it to be useful
People will understand what you mean way more quickly if you cut straight through all the shit and say "many jobs don't have 'iconic' abilities like Passage of Arms, Cover, or The Blackest Night"
whenever i talk about this
is my first post on the topic, im always sure to exactly bring up abilities that change the way you and your group plays
>I cover you
>I hit my Invul
>I now protected your life and my own and we survived a normally unsurvivable mechanic
Show me a normal player who can do this consistently.
Wish that's how it worked, Covered damage goes through invul. It's used only used to prog to sac yourself to save a healer usually.
its an answer to one of the big questions about mmo design, which is should we bring the player or the class?
their stated philosophy regarding class balance is that they want every class to be able to do everything with about the same level of ability. this lets people play the class they want in everything. it effectively means that no class really stands out as best at anything. it makes entry into raiding smoother, because you don't have new players 'accidentally' leveling and gearing the wrong class and finding themselves stonewalled out of raiding or other high end stuff.
remember, of all major MMOs ffxiv has the LEAST amount of emphasis on raiding being THE endgame activity, especially paired with the functional and bland gearing system that you don't really have a need for BiS.
all of this also fits into their stated philosophy about not wanting the game to devour your life. this was especially bad in older games like FFXI in which once a group invested gear into a player, that player was obligated to show up and do EVERYTHING. this decision nips that practice in the bud. though yes it still happens, but gear isn't nearly as important or powerful as it is in other games.
i personally feel this is the best answer to the question of how players should approach games like this
Im not reading a shitty opinion from an avatargay, frick off.
its ok anon. i think you're a good person
And i think you're a mentally ill Black person.
https://www.fflogs.com/character/na/balmung/cocoli%20coli#difficulty=101
lol stfu Black person
The problem with XI is that the jobs have clear niches and strengths/weaknesses and also that leveling is a huge commitment. You could easily have diverse jobs in XIV because it's so easy to level new jobs.
XIV is the perfect game to have diverse jobs because one character can be every job and leveling is not difficult or very time consuming, but they don't utilize that strength in any way
the game isn't made to require that. its designed to be played as a JRPG with multiplayer being increasingly optional
That's even more reason to have diverse jobs because you won't be excluded from groups if you're running with trusts.
trusts aren't a replacement for multiplayer though. its just that the MSQ is becoming increasingly single player. trials seem to be the exception so far.
and there are still people who do hydaelyn normal with players because they can't beat it with trusts, even with 2 reraises and y'shtola being 100% correct in her movement at all times. it shows up far too often in my trial roulettes
is the MSQ too easy? if the aim is to make it as easy as a final fantasy game, its pretty close. though tbh i'm not a good example as i've been playing jrpgs since 1991
>is the MSQ too easy?
Well everyone has to be able to beat it.
I wish the overworld were a bit more dangerous.
Why does everyone have to be able to beat it? This is supposed to be a GAME. Even Mario gets harder as you proceed through it. I really don't get why this community thinks that the existence of a narrative means that it should be impossible to struggle or that they should never have to be forced to get better.
Trusts literally are a replacement for multiplayer. And I queued for Hydaelyn with players because this is an MMO, it has nothing to do with trusts somehow making it hard.
Yoshi unironically only wants your money. He doesnt want to make a good game. Only a good way to make more money.
I did hyadlyn normal with people because I play a mmorg to play with people, not bots. I only use bots for minion farming.
lol
tbh anon, FF games haven't really fought back since FF4, beyond things like superbosses. FF1-3 being hard is more the game design of the era rather than being a franchise staple. i feel the problem with FFXIV's difficulty is that wild swings in numbers. leveling with just MSQ you'll be level 30ish when you become a scion which means you effectively are out of aggro range for msq level mobs. and then the sync happens and shit suddenly starts fighting back
Msq is easier than any classic ff game.
FF4 (FF2 US) blocks your path
Thats why you play the original always.
I played the DS version which was harder than the original JP. Breddy gud
Did you even read what i originally said?
Yes which is why I said I played the DS game, which is harder than the original JP SFC. This conversation was about easy FF games
Calcabrina into Golbez where everyone gets KO'd but Cecil at 1 HP and Rydia is harder than any MSQ content in XIV.
Drk constantly seethe on this very board about the miniscule differences between themselves and WAR, and demand that they get a bloodwhetting too
Thats what happens when you make everything the same.
Yeah those dungeon pulls are serious indeed. Gotta have that BW.
My only current problems with DRK
>Bloodspiller/Quietus as Fell Cleave/Decimate is boring
>I miss the speed-up from Blood Weapon, give it back Yoshida
>Please give back the aggro combo animations from HW/SB, the DPS Souleater combo animations suck wiener (this change can be modded in)
Otherwise I'm very fine with DRK as it currently is, even if I feel Dark Arts being removed and given to Sage as Eukrasia was throwing the baby out with the bathwater
bring the player not the class was the single most devastating design philosophy blizzard ever implemented and the stupid japs aped it from them

moogle event just has old items. The fact that there's an umbrella, framer kit and earrings is more than usual

Anon here still hasn't seen the Dawntrail teaser trailer.
well, a memory wipe does have precedence in lore with the 7th calamity. and since we're kick starting the 8th...

They fix things and work fast when they get embarrassed. The whole P8S blanket tanks buffs only happened after some JP VA complained on twitter.
Remember when Yoshida did the lodestone post of
>Sorry we buffed pvp blm too much and it's now OP. But we will nerf it next month 🙂
no but that sounds cool, way cooler than the packs of drg/drk constantly humping my leg.
Yes, I think they did tank buffs within a week or two aswell but left SMN and RDM to the next patch too.
100% expecting the ability to relocate leylines in the next expansion due to current raid design.
Compared to just hittign an invisible wall that freezes you until you get yeeted to adjacent zone, you have stuff like:
>loading screen portal at the bottom of stairs, enter, see your character run up during loading screen, ejected at the top of stairs
>enter the bridge on one side, see character run across the bridge during load, exit on the other side
Option to have cutscenes run at x1.25-x1.5 speed. Some characters have the slowest line delivery I've ever seen in a video game.
I think they artificially slowed down the VAs in ARR because they were worried ESLs wouldn’t be able to understand them. Minfilia’s voice in particular was electronically modified.
Yshtola, Thancred, sometimes Alphanaud, and Good Morning Sirs Dragon Avatar Man are the first characters I think of.
When people say jobs play the same they mean tanks and healers
>b-but that 1 gimmick that's been casualized since hw
Usually when they're complaining about healers or tanks being homogenized what they actually mean is Scholar, AST cards (specifically the cards and no real regard for any other aspect of the job) and Dark Knight, too.
my favorite is that they're never actually the classes or roles they're complaining about

So... what was the point of Island Sanctuary?
the same as other things in the game. to be entertaining.
>but i don't find it entertaining
and?
Who are you quoting?
It's actually really popular with the giga casuals that don't even unlock normal mode raids from what I've seen in stuff like novice network. I don't understand how anyone can enjoy it, but there here we are
i like island sanctuary. It needs more customization, but that will come in time.
The problem is that they can't fully commit to it since people will complain why there's so much work put into it
there should be a 4 boss normal/savage raid tier every single major X.X patch instead of once every other patch
there should be 2 extreme trials per patch
there should be atleast 3 new zones, exploratory or otherwise, with associated story developments and fates per expansion
there should be 1 ba/dr overworld 24 man to conclude the added zone story per expansion
there should be a v/c dungeon every X.X5 patch
and you should go back to wow

BLM PVP kind of sucks, or I just don't get the concept of how to play it. Use Atherial Manipulation for Swiftcasting, hit them with Fire or Ice depending on chasing, or damaging, Paradox, then Superflare?
Think of BLM less as a nuker and more of a CC specialist that can swooce in and nuke when the time is right. You don't want to slug it out, you want to hang back and help your team start and end the fight. Freeze someone to start a fight out, pop limit break and splash them with more CC/damage, then pop in to do damage and clean up.
I honestly just don't get any of the casters in pvp, I'll stick to just Salted Earthing people off ledges
Make an a.i. version of the cat girl to talk to and romance.
I want to frick cat girls. It is not unreasonable and actually quite natural.
Had to teach a sprout friend at lv60 about retainers yesterday lmao
being a lvl 41 sprout myself, it is entirely possible for them to get all the way there while having NO clue about anything else apart from the MSQ not even job quests, t. reached lvl 40 and got told 'dude you should do your job quests' and the last job quest i did was at lvl 10 or some shit
yeah true, that's why for my sprout friends I tell them to add all their moves to their hotbard even before unlocking them so if they ever reach a level where they should unlock a move and haven't I tell them its job quest time.
The director
Skillchain is the best shit ever created in a mmorpg and its a shame it will never be used outside a dated game like ffxi. I just wanted to say that.
Make abyssal drain a gcd again
They just know gays cheat savage/ultimate si they dont care to put any learning tool and wont do it in the future.
They're putting a raidplanner ingame becuase people kept putting shitty raidplans in the pf description and consoles couldn't access them.
SCH womb tat is the lewdest
Hard content is designed to be wiped over and over until you memorize the encounter, so a couple bad/inexperienced players are almost sure to frick everything up repeatedly. And then if you are not 100% certain in your own ability, you really do not want to be the one bad player that ruins a party.

Yoshida said while taking questions that it is being planned and may be announced at the next FanFest.
Mating press Momodi!
Aime was adorable cosplaying as her the first day at FF.
Pics?
Sorry. i know I saw some on twitter immediately afterward, but I couldn't find them. She had it on during the panel, though.

Aime, the member of the team who works on localization (IIRC) but has also translated during live letters for years.
Ah, I see.
What?
In hindsight, what the frick was this?
Total Snoy Death? Couldn't you hear Jim Ryan screaming in agony?
Just the way Yoshida brought him on, it was pleasing for corporate but no one else. That audience must have been scratching it's head.
>Special guest
>Oh it's a guy
The deafening silence as Phil came on was kind of funny.
>zodiark theme playing as he walks out
they knew what they were doing
XD!
Hey I'm happy that XIV is coming to Xbox. Because now I don't have to get a PS5
i watched it with a few friends and we erupted in laughter because the music they chose to introduce him with was zodiark's theme
>THE MARVELS OF GAMEPASS WERE BUT PLAYTHINGS
>THE XBONE LAUNCH...FAITHFULLY RECREATED
20 minutes to listen to Phil Spencer awkwardly read off a teleprompter while manifesting the same amount of excitement as a match box was a waste.
Sorry.
*that could allow more people to enjoy the game.
It’s weird in person because it’s an announcement for an audience that isn’t there. To be at a fan fest you would have to have been playing the game which means you own a PlayStation or pc.
100%
it's even weirder in the fact the accounts are platform-exclusive, which means even if you for some reason already have pc/steam/ps5 account you'd need to start a fresh new one and start from scratch to play on your xbox.
a fricking mistake, that's what
why the FRICK are they shackling themselves with even more console limitations?
It's about sending a message. Snoy better give more money for the next console exclusive.
You didn't cry, anon?
I thought he was done with FF?
I guess the comedy career didn't take off how he hoped
The lalafell players are all mentally ill. I wasnt so sure before but now im certain
Shitty core combat and class homogenization
More 'midcore' content, dungeons where mobs are something to be reckoned with instead of trash to pull and aoe, more different feeling jobs (frick the balance considerations), more open dungeons, platforming in actual content, a Fortnite crossover, frickable Y'shtola, explodable Y'shtola, better dyeable versions of the ARR gear.

fricking criminal yoshitpiss just keeps giving us dyke and balding haircuts
the reason is it would clip through your gear
i'm playing an MMO
i don't give a single shit about clipping
Putting colission only for yourself and your gear is that fricking hard? In the year 2023?
console limitations please understand
Clipping is overrated.
>Aren't you attracted to Dragon wiener?
That's a naaaaw from me.
remove the MMO part entirely including the subscription and just make it a single player game instead of an ERP lobby
jokes on you they’re removing the mmo parts but keeping the sub
Someone please explain to me Classical concepts
In geometry, a Platonic solid is a convex, regular polyhedron in three-dimensional Euclidean space. Being a regular polyhedron means that the faces are congruent (identical in shape and size) regular polygons (all angles congruent and all edges congruent), and the same number of faces meet at each vertex.
Hmm.. yes very interesting.
Am I actually too moronic to understand P12SP2 mechanics? ;_;

>Make jobs easier
>Make raids gay and annoying to make up for it
>Normal content which used to be fun in hw and sb is now fricking boring
I hate how this Black folk made Jobs moronic but made the harder content even more stupid to compensate. It should be the other way around.
caring about clipping is a feminine trait
When is Yoshi p going to apologize for the island sanctuary, delete it from the game and make a new exploration zone?
when do they reveal what the dawntrail alliance raid will be themed after?
Maybe 1 line of text in EU Fanfest. 1-2 teaser pics in JP Fanfest.

>want to level more jobs
>remember what 1-50 levelling is like
>no longer want to level more jobs
You will level stupidly fast.
>remember what 1-50 levelling is like
between doing the hunting log, your job quests, and the leveling queue you'll go from 1-50 in like 3 days. The only grim part people have is roughly 47-50, which might require some trips to aurum vale.
>The only grim part people have is roughly 47-50, which might require some trips to aurum vale
Spam Darkhold then do leveling roulette for the aurum levels. Problem solved
>crystalsissy afraid of the big bad morbols
well he only has himself to blame for morbols and behemoths
No, I'm afraid of third world players
Americans?
French
Nobody is afraid of the marbols
Everyone is afraid of the brand of morons you get in the dungeon.
Morbols don't do shit it's the rooms with the patrolling mobs that frick new playerxs
Unironically how are they gonna expand the jobs in Dawntrail
6.0 was already a lot of "old animation but cooler" like Raiden Thrust, and they can't just add more high potency burst when it's already causing balance issues
I personally hope they don’t do it but they do always have the option of pruning most combos and adding in new shit
1 new lvl 100 ability for every job. The rest will be just upgrades to existing stuff like they did in endwalker.
white mage only got 2 new buttons from 80 to 90, and they're really just copies of existing abilities.
not that i'm complaining. Liturgy of the Bell is one of the coolest looking abilities in the game
Liturgy is a cool way of giving them Excog
but its nothing like excog at all?
It's a recurring tap-heal you can panic fire to blow all of it at once, it's close enough to Excogitation to make the comparison even with a generally different use case
its Earthly Star but you can get lot of value out of it in multi hitting aoes or dots
>old animation but cooler
i'm fine with this tbh i soifaced when i saw art of war ii
I'm still mad that Dyskrasia is neutral on 2.
I ensure it had modest success from the start and fades into obscurity so FF16 is a different game.
I don't think FF16 would have been any different tbh
Modest success was already the ARR up to Stormblood years and it very likely saved Squeenix and got Yoshida put in charge of developing FF16 + divorcing a bunch of Heavensward staff from the MMO to develop it
New expansion! Hype!
Just give me a second combo route on DRK I literally do not care about anything else.
Why would they? if anything, the next logical step is auto combo from pvp, with the way they reduce skills.
Because I have been pressing 1-2-3 on DRK for half a decade at this point. I need more buttons.
if they are going to give you an autocombo, why not just the game push 1 automatically for you?
Call it auto.... attack...
I would be down for making 123 combo one button but some purists seem to screech over it. Players should be making more decisions in there rotation, not being starved for keybinds or crossbar slots.
At this point on how rotations are so linear they should just give us the PvP autocombo shit. It would be better.
at this point I enjoy talking about this game more than I do playing it
>log in to xiv
>alt-tab to Ganker and start posting about xiv
>close xiv hours later having done nothing
why am i like this?
I only raidlog and hate every single moment of it. I miss bozja and eureka so much but i have 0 interest on criterion somehow.

Everything except BLM
sam is more difficult than BLM
SAM is easier than BLM, especially the opening
I play SAM because its moronic af. blm is by far much more unforgiving
The days of shame casting F1 because eno dropped.
sam is the easiest melee job
I think RPR is easier
I find rpr harder to play than sam personally
MNK is definitely easier than SAM, RPR is easier than both though
post logs
Those are some nice logs.
95% blm here, SAM is harder.
>MNK is definitely easier than SAM
base level operation defintely but sam has more moving parts that are harder to minmax for true peak dps
lmfao

The most important gaming metric:
General threads on Ganker
I never said it was an important metric, just calling out the truth
GW2-kun has to shill his game in XIV threads because despite the "hype" around it's new expansion, a GW2 thread would not live to see post limit

Primal has to be the worst pvp server NA. I don't care that their best won the CCRC, the average IQ of casual players is astoundingly bad and there's no difference between casual and ranked below top 30 here.
Why aren't you crystal yet then?
If everyone is dumb it should be easy to climb.
I already got the weapon, it's not worth it anymore until changes come to ranked.
Can't be as bad as here.

6y iaijutsu, dps movement being neutral with other uses of kenki so you can justify using it way more, and third eye being a pure dps increase you're encouraged to do as often as possible instead of a refund for unavoidable aoe are all way more interesting then kaiten was, which was just a cool animation you can mod back in attached to a move with a hyper binary use that doesn't require any thinking at all
Forum repost.
the fourm is the #1 hangout of midwit samurai players who thought kaiten was the only nuance the job had
If yoshi deletes third eye because of button bloat ill unironically unninstall this shit game.
