Something about combat system to make it actually fun.
My biggest gripe that while I do enjoy raiding its more about boss patterns than enjoying the "combat". I'm very grind oriented person and my MMO career started from old korea grinders, but frick my ass with a horse dildo I just can't get into "grinding" in FFXIV because doing mass mindless combat lacks the bare minimum of fun and satisfying feeling that even wow had to a certain level.
I wish the combat itself was fun. There is some satisfaction when it comes to getting good at your job (like heavensward Drk or ShB "piano rotation" summoner etc) but by its core its just not that "fun". I doubt combat will ever be "fun" in a way I deeply would enjoy in a way that would get me actually fate grinding and such but I just wish I could have fun grinding...

Pretty much, yeah. It used to be that everyone had different timers and you had to actively coordinate your buff alignment to get big burst damage. This meant that fights weren't designed around you getting that bonus damage, so there was a lot more leeway. But now all jobs are designed to automatically set your buff timers at the same time, which means bosses are designed with the expectation that you will do that, which removes any leeway you might get from any bonus damage.
Interesting how every single one of these complaints comes from falseflagging Wowbucks and nobody that actually plays the game thinks they're real problems.

And as I've said from the beginning, I understand the phenomenon of flexible pronunciation in real life, and I'm not really criticizing that so much as its lack of basis in-world -- because that isn't why it's appearing in the first place. I could pretend that that's what's going on, that it isn't a lack of coordination on the part of the ADR crew, but instead I choose to pretend that they're saying Seeker names "correctly" lol.
But I also don't think the comparison to something like place names, or really any situation where someone is more likely to read the word in question first and then formulate a pronunciation (or perhaps the pronunciation is regional), is really equivalent. Because in the case of "Y'shtola" -- this is speculation -- but it seems more likely that the characters themselves would've heard the name before they would've read it on paper and been forced to guess.
That said, although I've talked at length about how silly I think the inconsistent pronunciation is, it's only tangential to my issue with the treatment of Seeker names in general. What we were taught versus what we've received in practice, at least post-ARR. And I prefer what we were taught, probably just because it's been in my head longer lol.

I would like to ignore the fact that Male Viera are the Male Viera instead of The Lopporits being Male Viera but I don't know if you wanna qualify that under ignoring lore, being dissatisfied with the Lopporits not being the playable choice for Male Viera or both.
All I can really say is that that all makes sense to me. The naming guide already tells us that non-Miqo'te pronounce their names differently, and it seems likely that many of the more Eorzean-integrated Miqo'te themselves probably fell in line with them. Regardless, we know there's an in-world discrepancy.
That said, if we're taking that pronunciation guide at face value, it's already doing the work of making their names more pronounceable for the common tongue, prefixes included. So while I don't think every voice actor (or character, when it's a choice made for them by the actor) should all use the same precise pronunciation, I still wish there were a greater sense of unity there. Not ruining my experience by any stretch, but ya know.
I think a bit about how the Miqo'te language might sound, or what their accent might be if everyone weren't mostly British, and it kind of frustrates me a little bit that we haven't gotten the same treatment for them in that department as we later got for races like the Hrothgar or Viera -- in terms of accent work, I mean. Of course, both's languages have clear real life counterparts that they're based on, whereas the Miqo'te language is completely invented, so the former are easier to cast for. Still, it's something I wonder about.
Speaking of Viera and accents, though, I've always thought it was pretty funny that Lyna's Icelandic accent was apparently... genetic? lmao
That in Endwalker the end boss is an emo bird kid who went through their edgy phase instead of the highly anticipated Zodiark or some other scary being. Imagine crossing the galaxy with the help of primals including Shinryu plus the top minds of Sharlayan only to slap some sense into an emo bird kid. I don't like the trials either, it's not as fun as the other ones. Thank god the transition after that has been good with the introduction of the Gods and Golbez with his archfiends. Much more interesting than a birb with eyeshadows.

it’s inferior to the plugin since it doesn’t allow you to set filters for targeting and it also doesn’t work for gcd skills like rez, esuna and adlo. there are probably other downsides to the current macro implementation that i can’t remember off the top of my head (i think it was to do with place macros like for soil and asylum where the plugin just lets you 1click drop it anywhere queued as a regular ogcd and will never clip even when doubleweaved)

You can use GCD actions with a mouseover macro. You shouldn't because macros don't have spell queueing.

I use two nascent flash macros with a mo (the other just always targets the off tank). yeah it’s a dps loss not rapidly changing targets during a gcd cooldown, but it feels good man. If it was annoying to use, I’d probably do it less.
It's not a dps loss to macro oGCD's as long as you don't clip the GCD because of it. In fact it is technically a DPS increase to use them because you could cancel an autoattack while switching targets

the other thing is that what the plugin does is that you whitelist the types of targeting you want to do. so for example i have druochole only whitelisted for the party frame so it won’t randomly heal someone else if i want to heal myself and just happened to skim my cursor over their player model - it only heals others if i point at the party frame. and on the flipside i have stuff like party frame and player model targeting for aetherial manipulation, and i also have shukuchi target only the party frame and the ground so i can shukuchi inside the boss’s hitbox instead of the game thinking i’m just targeting the boss and putting me outside the boss’s hitbox. the ingame implementation for ground targeting
i also dunno about stuff like rapidly queueing a bunch of ogcds with the ingame macros. you’ll encounter during prog many a situation where you don’t even bother weaving and just dump a whole bunch of ogcds to save a pull. the plugin queues the ogcds flawlessly in such cases but i wonder what would happen if you tried spamming a bunch of ingame macros rapidly
i cut out a portion of that post but what i wanted to say is that the ingame implementation of ground targeting us also really shit and makes latency even worse because it’s basically 2 ogcds back to back whereas the plugin queues it as a single ogcd in 1click

Also, independently holiday items should be available in game during that holiday. I don't mind the compromise that buying old ones off season is available, but next time that holiday comes around again you should be able to unlock them through holiday turn-in collectibles as you wish.
Lastly, all the minions and other shit that is only included with fricking bullshit external content like giant art books or LP albums or whatever can go to hell. Oh you want a Yotsuyu or whatever her name is minion smoking her kiseru? If you didn't buy some limited artbook during stormblood you're fricked or you can try to buy a code on ebay. Frick that. All of that stuff should be made available in game (if you are paying the fancy sub described above) or regular item mall (cheap sub)

Well, you don't have to be mad all the time but frankly we need all the help we can get pushing back against this shit because a bunch of brain dead wallet-open types can make up for many of us refusing to buy. It IS getting worse and has been- I can remember in 1.0 and the early days of ARR the only stuff on the item mall were >Like 3 mounts or minions that only came from JP ONRY fan fests. >Old holiday items in the off season, which you COULD get when they came round again.
Now there are constant new shit to buy and even fricking EMOTES - oh you want to drink tea, $7 you frick! And it will probably be another $7 with a Japanese style cup! - among so much other stuff, costumes mounts and the like. There was already a shitshow because people thought that 2 of the recent mounts - the transforming mech thing and the big fenrir looking thing would have been granted by gameplay but nope, item mall for you!
I don't mind them selling some things like stuff that only came with Deluxe editions or Fan Fest tickets, or even physical artbooks provided they don't frick with the prices too much (its better than not selling them at all otherwise) but the huge item mall is a real annoyance with tons of $18+ costumes, $25+ mounts and more. Hell, I heard that the fan fest items this year were NOT included in the FanFest ticket for the first time(I think) which is really some shit. We need to push back as much as we can or else it will continue to get worse.

I can't recommend ARR or HW's relic grinds unless you have a specific weapon or two that you really really want. For me it was Ragnarok Zeta and Cronus Lux, and I have zero desire to go back and do those again for some other weapon, none of the other Lux weapons look good enough to me to warrant the effort and Sasuke's Blades look good, but aren't worth the added grind over buying Nightsteel Knives and dying them silver or something. ARR's relic weapons are all much better in their first phase, maybe in their first recolor phase; I recall Bravura looking good basically only during the base phase, the recolor phase with Ardbert's blood-spatter blade, and the Holmgang-y glow effect after that.
Eureka is fun but I also find it really hard to recommend on the relic basis because of how absolutely fricking shit most of the Eureka relics are. It's not even worth it to do for the Anemos versions of your AF armor weapons because it adds a glow that isn't great for every job, off the top of my head only Scholar and Summoner's Anemos glows are good and not really obtrusive. Bozja is a much easier sell for relic purposes due to Matte Blade's weapons, consistently high relic quality, and in general being Eureka Pyros/Hydatos 2.
I could write out how the whole thing is poorly designed especially given we're no longer in ARR where running the same sht over and over again is the only thing to do, the "9 fricking books to kill most of the same creatures and grind" can't be condensed to one and myriad other issues that are not in line with how the game has developed (ie you can get other old expansion rare drop content through everything from Moogle Tomestone events to the GC Seal turn-ins and more, but nothing else for these?). Atop the fact that even if you do one of these the long stupid way, all of them are just as long and just as stupid as opposed to having alternate routes.
If you did it back in the day that's great, you got years of having the best in slot and everyone oooh and ahhh at you. Its not that time anymore and its only for aesthetics, massively pointless grind with a lot of limitations for how the game was in the past including poor design. The game isn't in the same place now and the content doesn't have the same benefit, so there are multiple reasons for stuff to be fixed.
Expanding the free trial to include SB is a really great move for them to try and get people more hooked in, the ShB cliffhanger is way better than the shitty one HW ends off on.
After having finished Endwalker, I am convinced that yes, the scions should have died for real when they sacrificed themselves. But also the WoL themselves should have died, after a "secret" Zenos fight you can just walk away if you tell him no (he would look at you like a dog denied his daily walk).
FFXI even kills the main character after the last battle until Phoenix intervenes in the post-credits scene to let you keep playing the game.
It's hard to kill the WoL off for good when they've established that the Echo makes a soul quasi immortal at this point. And expect them to keep leaning into that Azem shit because women LOVE it.
It's obvious that Dawntrail will dive deep into Azem shit. >Dawntrail (following the sun) >Legacy of Gold (gold is associated with the sun) >rainbow on the Amano art is a halo and resembles the helium symbol on the Azem stone
My tinfoil hat theory >6,5 ends with us nomming out 13th shard >this tips the WoL over a "completeness" threshold (putting us at 10/14 shard I believe) that starts us having legitimate Echo flashbacks to our time as Azem (which gives the devs plenty of excuses to continue milking Emet and Hylhlo because you know they want to really frickin bad) >the WoL's journey may be outwardly about participating in this ascension contest or wahtever but the real motivating factor on a personal level will be to start reracing Azem's steps for whatever purpose it become necessary (which will start getting teased in those Echo visions)
The moment Thancred "died", and the reaction of the Scions was just "where did that cad go this time? Probably chatting up the locals again", stopped the entire of the final zone working at all.
Man I have so many issues with the writing in Endwalker, it's all over the fricking place, especially in terms of pacing. The zone order needed to be shuffled around.
The worst part of the fakeout death train is when they basically just had to make something up for Yshtola to sacrifice herself in the name of (because that b***h to this day STILL has almost zero characterization beyond "sassy cat", almost zero backstory, motivation, development, fricking anything) and then Urianger just throws himself into the void with her for no discernable reason, like what the fuuuuuuuck? I don't know how you can say this is the worst part, it was the best sacrifice of all. Magitech is technology that requires no aether, it is complete technology as Garleans can't use aether. This is why the blessing of light as no protection against magitech shit.
This is also one of the main reasons why Solus founded the Garlean Empire, as a means to balance aether rich Eorzea.
This is one of the fundamental storylines of EW, that the Ancients were incredibly strong in anything related to aether, that's why dynamis took control of them so easily, they couldn't detect it, they couldn't fight it, they didn't even know what it was. Magitech isn't dynamis but think of it in terms of how an Ancient can't fight dynamis, they also can't defend against magitech based technology.

That dude in SB designed soul yeeting tech, you fight him in one of the dungeons. He's a boss and one of his mechanics is to remove your soul from your body and you have to walk back into your body or you're fricked.
As that guy was working for Zenos, Zenos gives the tech to Fandaniel who uses it on the Wol in EW.
Honestly I wouldn't mind some and I mean SOME items getting pattern customization. I can't legally admit to looking up some girl's skirt, but wouldn't it be nice if the next time you looked there's a rolandberry pattern on it?
Underwear actually did have its own equipment slot in 1.0, but there was never any gear added that used the slots except for the hempen sets. Unless the swimsuits used those slots and I'm just forgetting.
I think in the long run they did themselves a disservice by not splitting this new arc further from the previous. They didn't give themselves a good spot for a new starting point because they are carrying over too many side characters, some of which are instant spoilers for an entire expansion.
And they let them become too popular and recognizable, so they're too scared to kill any of them in such a low stakes plot. Imagine triumphing over despair incarnate during an actual apocalypse only to fall at the hands of a barely-dressed fishman. Nothing's going to happen.

XVIs major sin was being too murder happy. Both Cid and Benedikta would have been so much better if they kept being around instead of being senselessly killed. I don't get this bloodthirst of some people, arguing the 'stakes' are not high enough if not a GoT mandated amount of main characters corak each episode.
Cid was a big "wtf?" moment for me on where they put his death, especially after baiting an unrelated death/uselessness flag for him with the implication his hand was starting to succumb to the curse.
I am legit mostly saddened by Benedikta. The whole thing just screamed misery porn because that is what YoshiP saw on HBO in 2018 in GoT. It would have been much more interesting if she actually joined Clive and worked through her issues, or at least learned to trust anyone. Now it just seems like she died just to make miserable men even more miserable. Kinda got Yotsuyu vobes from her.
That is why I would hate for Thancred or anyone else of the Scions to die, I legit want to see what they end up doing, even if it is retiring and opening a tavern or something. So far the only one with a motivation seems to be Y'shtola and that boils down to 'Frick yeah I wanna go see everything with Azem-kun, lemme fix up a world hopping spell rq.'
See, that'd work if they just let them retire. They teased us at the end of the 6.0 MSQ by having everyone go their separate ways, then they bring them all back piecemeal over the next few patches as if nothing happened. Thancred in particular has absolutely no plot threads left, he is utterly spent as a character and is only kept around for the trust system.

They need to do something with them. Y'shtola I feel is set because she is the rep of the game and she has a very clear motivation that will last her for the rest of the game. They need to find something for Thancred and Urlanger. G'raha is getting flanderized hard and needs a bit more of his crystal exarch self back. The twins... honestly I have no idea why they are still around, of all the characters i felt their arc was neatly tied with EW.

They don't have to actually kill anyone off, they just have to make it seem like they could at any time. Shadowbringers was great because we didn't even know if it was possible to bring the scions back from the first, they could already be dead and not know it. After pussying out of the mass sacrifice in ultima thule (y'shtola's fourth death fakeout), there's really nothing that could seem even vaguely threatening to the scions.
i think killing off people is sometimes good, but I personally like how they handled Gosetsu. His whole arc is finished, he gets an epilogue, and you bump into him occasionally to see what the old coot is up to, but he doesn't have to present at every plot point to say what he thinks about stuff

They don't necessarily have to kill anyone off, they have a LOT of options on how and where to move the story to that would keep it far enough away from what exists so you wouldn't need to play the entire first arc to understand the second. The big issue they will run into is that the story is already ridiculously long and it's only going to get longer, while people should want to play all of it you will scare a number of new players off with the concept of "yeah you have to play 700 hours to get to the current story" and I don't blame someone for being put off by that.

After playing most of the MSQ(s) of XI I can safely say I am happy they kept the core companions in form of the Scions around. Starting with a new group every expansion is grading and wishes you had more time to spend with the people of the previous expansion. Frick most of everything that came after CoP, they needed to do more with Prishe and buddies.

When I saw the screen shot of the new Myths and legend raid, and when I think back to the raids we've got so far, I just think "why couldn't they put this much effort into overworld zones instead, where we spend 100s of hours of our time" I know I'm moaning about frick all here, but frick me they could make them more exciting and colourful than what they are.

at least the 7.0 zones looked better, it's always been so weird how the overworld is barren and sparse with it's details and the dungeons are overflowing with designs.

I was watching Arthars a couple of days ago, he was watching the PLL from the fanfest on stream, and even he couldn't help but facepalm and laugh that how have the devs not figured out yet that one of the main draws in an mmo is the gear/ items and that having content to do is all good but if there is no reward for gear and items it's meaningless for example the new Criterion and variant dungeons, for what they are offer absolute shit in terms of rewards.
That's not right either, you have to understand he's a raid autist that hates half the game. It's not always gear/items but also other incentives for doing content, one of the major features of the game is playing ALL jobs on one character and yet they don't make good use of rewarding people for doing content on multiple jobs.
Criterion absolutely needs a reward system and more incentives to do it, or to be tied to another piece of content.

ARR zones are fairly simple visually but they're dense, have interesting layouts, and feature random buildings with interiors that don't matter but still make the world feel more fleshed out
all the zones since HW have way too much empty space just to make flying take longer, the layouts are mostly just flat plains where any geography exists purely to gate parts of the zone behind MSQ progression/aether currents, and there's very little to see outside of the areas the story takes you because they know you're just going to be flying over everything anyway
After the update I don't think much is going to change about the Alliance raids, DR will just filter out the Ilvl trolls, but there still going to be massive waves of newbies needing their Labyrinth or Crystal clear, dragging rows of lvl 90s back.
I think FF16 had more of an impact on developer strategy and current content flow than WoW migrations did, and Yoshida's team did what any competent team would do: use the grifters as free advertising and then throw them away like a used cum-sock as soon as they've had their fun in the sun
Change unfortunately only comes when it's top down and not bottom up. It will only occur when someone with influence tells Yoshida to get his shit together and stop pissing around with the potential of the game, also as important as the JP audience are, they're not the only audience for the game so they need to be more open to people outside Japan and interact more for example they have these really long dev streams but they're all strictly in Japanese. Great for the Japanese audience seeing devs raid in game or interacting with the players in game but it's not going to get any popularity with the community outside Japan.
I never understood why they don't get the localisers playing FF14 on streams with the community, like Koji or others for that matter, they all say they play the game so let them play it even if it's just walking around and interacting with some randos in the city states, it would mean a lot to people.

I miss the GM events in 1.X where a dev would spawn in as Urianger or Nael or one of the newspaper reporters to interact with the players.
God damn they did that? That would be really cool, even if it happens once it's the fact it "could" happen is the interesting thing about it, gets people talking and more interested in the npc's and paying closer attention to the world, to the game to see if weird stuff is going on.

Yeah, Urianger would pop up in aetheryte camps to try to talk to players about the Calamity. Then other times Nael would appear and start harassing people and demanding they give info about where Urianger had been seen.
That's really cool, I regret not playing during 1.0 for those moments, now it feels so formulated and nothing is done that is unexpected anymore.

They've given up on Machinist, Dancer and Bard being separated purely on the sliding scale of DPS -> Party Buffs since MCH now has Dismantle alongside Tactician, Bard still sucks for party buffs, and Dancer is king of raid buffs. Ninja is still defined by Mug (where previously it was Trick Attack) as their party buff. Maybe they're insane enough to make COR (if it is COR) use its Rolls from FFXI, turbo-specific party buffs intended to go towards a specific job?
Probably Ranged Opener into melee finisher. Weaker raid buff that increases dmg by 3%. Maybe a faster cd single target buff that increases direct hit chance on self and target. It will be sad if this is all it amounts too.
Because it would be identical to red mage. Thematically as a corsair you weaken the target at range then go in for the kill.

The problem is that the job relies on those 1-3% passive buffs running throughout the course of a fight, and if there's downtime, there's a significant loss of rDPS for the BRD
They should just remove those buffs and focus on its damage, they're not even noticeable

My biggest gripe that while I do enjoy raiding its more about boss patterns than enjoying the "combat". I'm very grind oriented person and my MMO career started from old korea grinders, but frick my ass with a horse dildo I just can't get into "grinding" in FFXIV because doing mass mindless combat lacks the bare minimum of fun and satisfying feeling that even wow had to a certain level.
I wish the combat itself was fun. There is some satisfaction when it comes to getting good at your job (like heavensward Drk or ShB "piano rotation" summoner etc) but by its core its just not that "fun". I doubt combat will ever be "fun" in a way I deeply would enjoy in a way that would get me actually fate grinding and such but I just wish I could have fun grinding...

Pretty much, yeah. It used to be that everyone had different timers and you had to actively coordinate your buff alignment to get big burst damage. This meant that fights weren't designed around you getting that bonus damage, so there was a lot more leeway. But now all jobs are designed to automatically set your buff timers at the same time, which means bosses are designed with the expectation that you will do that, which removes any leeway you might get from any bonus damage.
Interesting how every single one of these complaints comes from falseflagging Wowbucks and nobody that actually plays the game thinks they're real problems.

And as I've said from the beginning, I understand the phenomenon of flexible pronunciation in real life, and I'm not really criticizing that so much as its lack of basis in-world -- because that isn't why it's appearing in the first place. I could pretend that that's what's going on, that it isn't a lack of coordination on the part of the ADR crew, but instead I choose to pretend that they're saying Seeker names "correctly" lol.
But I also don't think the comparison to something like place names, or really any situation where someone is more likely to read the word in question first and then formulate a pronunciation (or perhaps the pronunciation is regional), is really equivalent. Because in the case of "Y'shtola" -- this is speculation -- but it seems more likely that the characters themselves would've heard the name before they would've read it on paper and been forced to guess.
That said, although I've talked at length about how silly I think the inconsistent pronunciation is, it's only tangential to my issue with the treatment of Seeker names in general. What we were taught versus what we've received in practice, at least post-ARR. And I prefer what we were taught, probably just because it's been in my head longer lol.

I would like to ignore the fact that Male Viera are the Male Viera instead of The Lopporits being Male Viera but I don't know if you wanna qualify that under ignoring lore, being dissatisfied with the Lopporits not being the playable choice for Male Viera or both.
All I can really say is that that all makes sense to me. The naming guide already tells us that non-Miqo'te pronounce their names differently, and it seems likely that many of the more Eorzean-integrated Miqo'te themselves probably fell in line with them. Regardless, we know there's an in-world discrepancy.
That said, if we're taking that pronunciation guide at face value, it's already doing the work of making their names more pronounceable for the common tongue, prefixes included. So while I don't think every voice actor (or character, when it's a choice made for them by the actor) should all use the same precise pronunciation, I still wish there were a greater sense of unity there. Not ruining my experience by any stretch, but ya know.
I think a bit about how the Miqo'te language might sound, or what their accent might be if everyone weren't mostly British, and it kind of frustrates me a little bit that we haven't gotten the same treatment for them in that department as we later got for races like the Hrothgar or Viera -- in terms of accent work, I mean. Of course, both's languages have clear real life counterparts that they're based on, whereas the Miqo'te language is completely invented, so the former are easier to cast for. Still, it's something I wonder about.
Speaking of Viera and accents, though, I've always thought it was pretty funny that Lyna's Icelandic accent was apparently... genetic? lmao
That in Endwalker the end boss is an emo bird kid who went through their edgy phase instead of the highly anticipated Zodiark or some other scary being. Imagine crossing the galaxy with the help of primals including Shinryu plus the top minds of Sharlayan only to slap some sense into an emo bird kid. I don't like the trials either, it's not as fun as the other ones. Thank god the transition after that has been good with the introduction of the Gods and Golbez with his archfiends. Much more interesting than a birb with eyeshadows.

I assume what you mean is you want macros to have spell queueing, because you can macro mouseovers in the game without plugins
it’s inferior to the plugin since it doesn’t allow you to set filters for targeting and it also doesn’t work for gcd skills like rez, esuna and adlo. there are probably other downsides to the current macro implementation that i can’t remember off the top of my head (i think it was to do with place macros like for soil and asylum where the plugin just lets you 1click drop it anywhere queued as a regular ogcd and will never clip even when doubleweaved)

I use two nascent flash macros with a mo (the other just always targets the off tank). yeah it’s a dps loss not rapidly changing targets during a gcd cooldown, but it feels good man. If it was annoying to use, I’d probably do it less.
It's not a dps loss to macro oGCD's as long as you don't clip the GCD because of it. In fact it is technically a DPS increase to use them because you could cancel an autoattack while switching targets

the other thing is that what the plugin does is that you whitelist the types of targeting you want to do. so for example i have druochole only whitelisted for the party frame so it won’t randomly heal someone else if i want to heal myself and just happened to skim my cursor over their player model - it only heals others if i point at the party frame. and on the flipside i have stuff like party frame and player model targeting for aetherial manipulation, and i also have shukuchi target only the party frame and the ground so i can shukuchi inside the boss’s hitbox instead of the game thinking i’m just targeting the boss and putting me outside the boss’s hitbox. the ingame implementation for ground targeting
i also dunno about stuff like rapidly queueing a bunch of ogcds with the ingame macros. you’ll encounter during prog many a situation where you don’t even bother weaving and just dump a whole bunch of ogcds to save a pull. the plugin queues the ogcds flawlessly in such cases but i wonder what would happen if you tried spamming a bunch of ingame macros rapidly
i cut out a portion of that post but what i wanted to say is that the ingame implementation of ground targeting us also really shit and makes latency even worse because it’s basically 2 ogcds back to back whereas the plugin queues it as a single ogcd in 1click

All of that stuff should be made available in game (if you are paying the fancy sub described above) or regular item mall (cheap sub)

Hell, I heard that the fan fest items this year were NOT included in the FanFest ticket for the first time(I think) which is really some shit. We need to push back as much as we can or else it will continue to get worse.

I can't recommend ARR or HW's relic grinds unless you have a specific weapon or two that you really really want. For me it was Ragnarok Zeta and Cronus Lux, and I have zero desire to go back and do those again for some other weapon, none of the other Lux weapons look good enough to me to warrant the effort and Sasuke's Blades look good, but aren't worth the added grind over buying Nightsteel Knives and dying them silver or something. ARR's relic weapons are all much better in their first phase, maybe in their first recolor phase; I recall Bravura looking good basically only during the base phase, the recolor phase with Ardbert's blood-spatter blade, and the Holmgang-y glow effect after that.
Eureka is fun but I also find it really hard to recommend on the relic basis because of how absolutely fricking shit most of the Eureka relics are. It's not even worth it to do for the Anemos versions of your AF armor weapons because it adds a glow that isn't great for every job, off the top of my head only Scholar and Summoner's Anemos glows are good and not really obtrusive. Bozja is a much easier sell for relic purposes due to Matte Blade's weapons, consistently high relic quality, and in general being Eureka Pyros/Hydatos 2.
Eureka is basically the perfect amount of effort/relic except for the light grind in Pagos, frick that bullshit.
Hydatos fricking sucks if you do more than one or two weapons since they still haven't increased the amount of crystals that the fates give there.
I could write out how the whole thing is poorly designed especially given we're no longer in ARR where running the same sht over and over again is the only thing to do, the "9 fricking books to kill most of the same creatures and grind" can't be condensed to one and myriad other issues that are not in line with how the game has developed (ie you can get other old expansion rare drop content through everything from Moogle Tomestone events to the GC Seal turn-ins and more, but nothing else for these?). Atop the fact that even if you do one of these the long stupid way, all of them are just as long and just as stupid as opposed to having alternate routes.
If you did it back in the day that's great, you got years of having the best in slot and everyone oooh and ahhh at you. Its not that time anymore and its only for aesthetics, massively pointless grind with a lot of limitations for how the game was in the past including poor design. The game isn't in the same place now and the content doesn't have the same benefit, so there are multiple reasons for stuff to be fixed.

After having finished Endwalker, I am convinced that yes, the scions should have died for real when they sacrificed themselves. But also the WoL themselves should have died, after a "secret" Zenos fight you can just walk away if you tell him no (he would look at you like a dog denied his daily walk).
The Scions shouldn't have died and they also shouldn't have done the most telegraphed fakeout in the history of fiction either but WoL should have.

The worst part of the fakeout death train is when they basically just had to make something up for Yshtola to sacrifice herself in the name of (because that b***h to this day STILL has almost zero characterization beyond "sassy cat", almost zero backstory, motivation, development, fricking anything) and then Urianger just throws himself into the void with her for no discernable reason, like what the fuuuuuuuck? Not to mention Graha's segment being almost an exact repeat of the exact same shit from 5.3.
Sadly Y'shtola is the female face of the game so they have to carry her around, but she's really boring as a character. If we needed another female character other than Alisaie (and we do, it's a sausage as it is) Lyse, Yuugiri, hell even the wienerburne highlander would have been better.

Magitech is technology that requires no aether, it is complete technology as Garleans can't use aether. This is why the blessing of light as no protection against magitech shit.
This is also one of the main reasons why Solus founded the Garlean Empire, as a means to balance aether rich Eorzea.
This is one of the fundamental storylines of EW, that the Ancients were incredibly strong in anything related to aether, that's why dynamis took control of them so easily, they couldn't detect it, they couldn't fight it, they didn't even know what it was. Magitech isn't dynamis but think of it in terms of how an Ancient can't fight dynamis, they also can't defend against magitech based technology.
Magitek still uses aether. The fuel source is ceruleum. You're overcomplicating it. The Blessing just only protects against corruption of one's aether. Soul yoinking isn't aetherial corruption.

I think in the long run they did themselves a disservice by not splitting this new arc further from the previous. They didn't give themselves a good spot for a new starting point because they are carrying over too many side characters, some of which are instant spoilers for an entire expansion.
And they let them become too popular and recognizable, so they're too scared to kill any of them in such a low stakes plot. Imagine triumphing over despair incarnate during an actual apocalypse only to fall at the hands of a barely-dressed fishman. Nothing's going to happen.

XVIs major sin was being too murder happy. Both Cid and Benedikta would have been so much better if they kept being around instead of being senselessly killed. I don't get this bloodthirst of some people, arguing the 'stakes' are not high enough if not a GoT mandated amount of main characters corak each episode.
Cid was a big "wtf?" moment for me on where they put his death, especially after baiting an unrelated death/uselessness flag for him with the implication his hand was starting to succumb to the curse.
I am legit mostly saddened by Benedikta. The whole thing just screamed misery porn because that is what YoshiP saw on HBO in 2018 in GoT. It would have been much more interesting if she actually joined Clive and worked through her issues, or at least learned to trust anyone. Now it just seems like she died just to make miserable men even more miserable. Kinda got Yotsuyu vobes from her.
That is why I would hate for Thancred or anyone else of the Scions to die, I legit want to see what they end up doing, even if it is retiring and opening a tavern or something. So far the only one with a motivation seems to be Y'shtola and that boils down to 'Frick yeah I wanna go see everything with Azem-kun, lemme fix up a world hopping spell rq.'
See, that'd work if they just let them retire. They teased us at the end of the 6.0 MSQ by having everyone go their separate ways, then they bring them all back piecemeal over the next few patches as if nothing happened. Thancred in particular has absolutely no plot threads left, he is utterly spent as a character and is only kept around for the trust system.
I'm astounded they didn't actually do this, let the scions retire and send the WoL off somewhere else to have an adventure and make new friends. Hell if you want to get spicy you could whisk them away to a new shard/planet/dimension/timeline whatever, they could do literally anything at this point and it would work.
WoL has even more reason to retire, just give us a new character already.
They need to do something with them. Y'shtola I feel is set because she is the rep of the game and she has a very clear motivation that will last her for the rest of the game. They need to find something for Thancred and Urlanger. G'raha is getting flanderized hard and needs a bit more of his crystal exarch self back. The twins... honestly I have no idea why they are still around, of all the characters i felt their arc was neatly tied with EW.

I understand why they killed CID and even agree from a story point it makes complete sense but the game suffers really suffers after his death because CID was the levity in the game without him you dont get any until Byron and hes used very sparringly
They don't have to actually kill anyone off, they just have to make it seem like they could at any time. Shadowbringers was great because we didn't even know if it was possible to bring the scions back from the first, they could already be dead and not know it. After pussying out of the mass sacrifice in ultima thule (y'shtola's fourth death fakeout), there's really nothing that could seem even vaguely threatening to the scions.
i think killing off people is sometimes good, but I personally like how they handled Gosetsu. His whole arc is finished, he gets an epilogue, and you bump into him occasionally to see what the old coot is up to, but he doesn't have to present at every plot point to say what he thinks about stuff
They don't necessarily have to kill anyone off, they have a LOT of options on how and where to move the story to that would keep it far enough away from what exists so you wouldn't need to play the entire first arc to understand the second. The big issue they will run into is that the story is already ridiculously long and it's only going to get longer, while people should want to play all of it you will scare a number of new players off with the concept of "yeah you have to play 700 hours to get to the current story" and I don't blame someone for being put off by that.
I was under the impression that they wanted to (and did for the most part) tie up all the old storylines and loose ends so they could move on to something new without having to constantly feel pulled down by the memory of 1.0 and the calamity. As said, the scions are way way too popular and that puts the story in a tough spot as they apparently always have to be involved and they will never face any sort of dire situation.
Bearing in mind of course that the new starting point must come after everything prior to it, and this is a game that highly values its chronology (insofar as expac-by-expac events, not so much the "five years since the Calamity" blurb)
After playing most of the MSQ(s) of XI I can safely say I am happy they kept the core companions in form of the Scions around. Starting with a new group every expansion is grading and wishes you had more time to spend with the people of the previous expansion. Frick most of everything that came after CoP, they needed to do more with Prishe and buddies.

When I saw the screen shot of the new Myths and legend raid, and when I think back to the raids we've got so far, I just think "why couldn't they put this much effort into overworld zones instead, where we spend 100s of hours of our time" I know I'm moaning about frick all here, but frick me they could make them more exciting and colourful than what they are.
I'm hoping for some real dense shit in 7.0.

I was watching Arthars a couple of days ago, he was watching the PLL from the fanfest on stream, and even he couldn't help but facepalm and laugh that how have the devs not figured out yet that one of the main draws in an mmo is the gear/ items and that having content to do is all good but if there is no reward for gear and items it's meaningless for example the new Criterion and variant dungeons, for what they are offer absolute shit in terms of rewards.
That's not right either, you have to understand he's a raid autist that hates half the game. It's not always gear/items but also other incentives for doing content, one of the major features of the game is playing ALL jobs on one character and yet they don't make good use of rewarding people for doing content on multiple jobs.
Criterion absolutely needs a reward system and more incentives to do it, or to be tied to another piece of content.

ARR zones are fairly simple visually but they're dense, have interesting layouts, and feature random buildings with interiors that don't matter but still make the world feel more fleshed out
all the zones since HW have way too much empty space just to make flying take longer, the layouts are mostly just flat plains where any geography exists purely to gate parts of the zone behind MSQ progression/aether currents, and there's very little to see outside of the areas the story takes you because they know you're just going to be flying over everything anyway
Flying is arguably the worst mechanic ever added to MMOs.

I think FF16 had more of an impact on developer strategy and current content flow than WoW migrations did, and Yoshida's team did what any competent team would do: use the grifters as free advertising and then throw them away like a used cum-sock as soon as they've had their fun in the sun

Change unfortunately only comes when it's top down and not bottom up. It will only occur when someone with influence tells Yoshida to get his shit together and stop pissing around with the potential of the game, also as important as the JP audience are, they're not the only audience for the game so they need to be more open to people outside Japan and interact more for example they have these really long dev streams but they're all strictly in Japanese. Great for the Japanese audience seeing devs raid in game or interacting with the players in game but it's not going to get any popularity with the community outside Japan.

I miss the GM events in 1.X where a dev would spawn in as Urianger or Nael or one of the newspaper reporters to interact with the players.
God damn they did that? That would be really cool, even if it happens once it's the fact it "could" happen is the interesting thing about it, gets people talking and more interested in the npc's and paying closer attention to the world, to the game to see if weird stuff is going on.
yeah, they were using Urianger kind of as a doomsayer during 1.X. The GMs would play Urianger every now and then instead of him just being an NPC

They've given up on Machinist, Dancer and Bard being separated purely on the sliding scale of DPS -> Party Buffs since MCH now has Dismantle alongside Tactician, Bard still sucks for party buffs, and Dancer is king of raid buffs. Ninja is still defined by Mug (where previously it was Trick Attack) as their party buff. Maybe they're insane enough to make COR (if it is COR) use its Rolls from FFXI, turbo-specific party buffs intended to go towards a specific job?
build up resources with a basic combo to dump them under raid buffs every 2 minutes.
Probably Ranged Opener into melee finisher. Weaker raid buff that increases dmg by 3%. Maybe a faster cd single target buff that increases direct hit chance on self and target. It will be sad if this is all it amounts too.

We have three ranged finishers on Red Mage now, their own flow is Ranged Filler -> Melee Finisher -> Ranged Finisher
Because it would be identical to red mage. Thematically as a corsair you weaken the target at range then go in for the kill.

The problem is that the job relies on those 1-3% passive buffs running throughout the course of a fight, and if there's downtime, there's a significant loss of rDPS for the BRD
They should just remove those buffs and focus on its damage, they're not even noticeable
