V3 was very ambitious with its big twist and I respect that, but come on now. It was clear that the Danganronpa formula has gone stale at that point.
Which is why the best game in the series is and always will be THH. Though you can argue that DR2 was the better game since it refines and builds upon THH's foundations

What I'm talking about is how people manage to come away from the ending with the exact opposite message of the message they not-so-subtly hammer home. Part of that is Kodaka's fault for making the audience feel too similar to the playerbase, which makes players feel like they're being directly chastised. But some of the blame has to go on the people ignoring what they're being blatantly told,
This is my pet DR crusade, there are plenty of criticisms to talk about with V3, including in the ending, but if you hate the ending because "I'm being told I'm bad for liking killing games and Danganronpa and the previous games are all ruined", I will fight you
I thought that V3 was just them not so subtly telling their fans to grow up, stop getting so obsessed with Danganronpa, and go outside. That's what Shuichi told to the fans watching the game live, because essentially what you're doing as an audience is watching a bunch of teenagers kill each other and you're enjoying it. I also thought the addition of the Love Hotel scenes were meant to bear exploitative and voyeuristic undertones. And Tsumugi is just this satirical depiction of the average psychotic Danganronpa fan. And the Monokubs were a satire on comic relief characters that no one likes who gets plastered on franchises that have outstayed their welcome.
Also, having the fictional audience spouting shit that we, the fans, have said in the past does muddle the intentions a little. They even made fun of the "Sakura is my muscle waifu" meme.
I know V3 is meant to be about the power of fiction. Even if your feelings aren't real, it doesn't matter, because they are real to you. But I like my interpretation better :^)
The problem with V3 is so much of it goes back on itself that the entire game comes across of insincere, and dampens the impact of Shuichi's argument.

Like I said, I just want to argue with people who dislike the ending. I think V3 is has glaring problems but there's a lot to like with regards to story and characters. Some parts suck like what you mentioned but the things that work + the polish make it a good game in my book. I think Kokichi and Kaito both suck ass.

Managed to get unspoiled for everything besides the Homunculus twist.
Case 1 was stupidly outlandish
Case 2 was boring
Case 3 was interesting but I didn't really like the consequence of it.
Case 4 was meh
Case 5 was nearly game ruining.
Case 6 was the best case in the game and for once Kodaka managed to make a good ending (Although he still uses 600 words when 10 will do, but it comes with the territory of JP VNs/Adventure games.)

It's basically what makes Case 5 so game ruining when you consider that Yakuo has the potential to kill all of you with him if all three of those girls died.
Their deaths are almost worst than deaths because now they are just mindless zombies that can't die because their IQ wasn't high enough.
Could be something worth exploring in the sequel to see if its possible to restore them in their zombie state.
At first I thought we weren't even going back to Kanai Ward in the sequel, since it's all "Master Detective Archives: Rain Code" implying the next installment wouldn't be Rain Code. But now, given that fans seem to really like Kanai Ward and want to go back, and leaving Kanai Ward would mean the next game would have red blood, and that even Kodaka has mentioned he might set the next game in Kanai again, we might go back and solve some other big mystery about the seemingly villainous Amaterasu, WDA, and UG..
So, it's possible something could be done about the zombies. I mean, they're being rounded up instead of all just being incinerated, so Makoto is probably keeping them around with the hope of maybe one day curing them.
There's always a chance for them to come back, maybe something triggering their memory.
It probably won't ever be explicitly stated, but my headcanon will be that they find a cure eventually and those girls get to be lesbos together and Yakou doesn't get to reunite with his wife because she died pre copying

I started with the first game. And yes. The writing is absolutely awful if you're over your edgy anime phase. At some points the writing legitimately doesn't make sense because the point was just to trick you or fake you out.
