its a decent beatemup RPG with good art. the gameplay isnt anything special though tbh.
Its above average for a beat em up. Shredder's Revenge released in 2022 and DC blows it out of the water. I'd say Castle Crashers, Streets of Rage 4 and Dragon's Crowns are the 3 best.
I do have soft spots for say Guardian Heroes too.

Boy I swear this series is just cursed. One of the best fricking beat-em ups out there that was crazy popular in a lot of Asian countries back in the day and was bigger than the entire Star Wars franchise in Korea. Fricked over because of shitty devs and management. Then over a decade later they try to revive the series and breath in new life with multiple games and even getting the Guilty Gear devs to make a fighting game. So many stars were aligning would have you thinking this series was going to be big again...
and the dev's just dragged their asses and killed their series even harder than before. My god, imagine having infinite energy in your hands then fumbling it and dropping it. That's DFO in a nutshell

There's a new action game coming out, I think it's called Kazan: The First Berserker. It actually looks like it could be cool, but there's a single trailer, as far as I've seen. But yeah, I played DFO religiously in high school, and it makes me sad to think about how I can't even convince some buds to play it with me.

I love beat em ups and coop with total strangers so I got a solid 100+ hours out of it.
might be my favorite beat em up of all time. Also the only PS3 game i bothered to platinum.
Personally I loved the combat. Its a beat em up, but each character had two gameplay styles which you could change up on the fly.
It's great, spiritual successor to Shadow Over Mystara and the old side scroller beat em ups.
Endless replayability, local coop and nice challenge. It was enough for warrant around 2000 hours of fun for me and my brother.

It's classic Arcade Game design made to have you replay levels and never get tired of it. And with the RPG design you are always getting stronger with every run, so there is always progress being made. Punishments are light but it can still be punishing. The level design is also superb with secrets on nearly every screen, branching paths, & unique ends against every boss. But the most striking thing is the obvious and forefront graphic design, with appealing characters, enemies, items, & areas.
It's a gaming connoisseur's game and that's not an exaggeration.
it's just a smoother version of the capcom D&D beat em ups. no screen freeze on casting a spell means I can actually play the wizard class

I don't know. I gave it a shot. Bought it at launch on PS3 and wanted to do co-op with my friends but the camera is so bad it's nearly unplayable. The game can't tell who to focus on and your party and enemies all blend together into the background. I've given it a few shots and it's just not good.

They completely fricked up the camera system and I still don't understand why they never fixed it.
To be fair the original version 1.00 of the game didn't have many options to see both you and your party members properly. It was a later update where they added more settings in the options and visuals to see your characters better. I would know because I remember I forgot to update and played through the game then later updating and noticed there were more options to fool around with.
Oh that makes sense, I only played on vita long after the game's release.

Nothing. People just suck it off because the artist styled on some wokie morons. It was a preposterously overpriced game at release and has about 2 hours of gameplay before you're just repeating the loot treadmill nonstop. All its numerous (and by numerous, I mean it barely has any positives) are overlooked because of the coomers.
This, no game with sexy women in it is good, only coomers care about them.

I wish there was a mode that let you play it like a normal beat em up. Just continuous action with no breaks in play wasting time at the store. Ultimately i always end up playing Mystara after a few levels.
