I am getting so tired of developers STILL making games for 10+ year old console hardware. FRICK THE IDIOTS WHO ARE STILL USING THESE PIECE OF SHIT 2013 CONSOLES. The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S have been out for nearly 3 YEARS. Developers are still having to scale down their games to run on 2013 hardware. WHEN IS THIS GOING TO STOP? I didn't spend $400 on an Xbox Series X to play slightly graphically better Xbox One games.

I'm seeting about specs because not every developer is Rockstar and has unlimited time and money where they can make incredible animations and graphics like Red Dead Redemption 2 for a piece of shit 2013 console. If a developer makes the game only for current generation consoles(PS5 and Xbox Seres), then they don't have to work so hard on optimization and can just pump out fully motion captured scenes, etcetera.

you realize that the PS4 and Xbone was like 5 times more capable than the previous generation while the PS5 and SeriesX is just about 2 times more powerful. Im pretty sure the 8th gen consoles are so scalable in terms of performance that theres no other ways to improve gameplay with a better CPU other than graphics. His argument is that having to placate console casuals is holding back innovation. Even a 1660 which is about as old as previous gen consoles, outperforms them in terms of visuals. Not that it matters if all that seems to come out is casualized consoomerist crap.
What innovation? There isn't even any gameplay that can be directly tied to new hardware at the moment. Hell Starfied is even becoming Skyrim in Space but with some prettier graphics. Its honestly up this point that the current gen (9th gen) is just a upgrade path for graphics which likes of raytracing and faster storage (which the PS4 and Xbone could work with it too if you install one but never took off cause it never came with one) which doesn't really fit in the room for innovation in terms of gameplay. Unless youre gonna make a game mechanic based on using ray tracing then sure.
I feel like its because most people skipped the lastest generation. Most people still have a PS4 or Xbox One no? It wouldn't be a very wise decision from a business standpoint to not make games for what is currently the most popular.

This is exactly it. Console adoption hasn't been nearly as consistent as prior gens so they have held on to cross gen releases far, far longer than before.
The issue is also compounding itself, since the supply issues for most of their lifespan so far made people adopt late, which made publishers do a lot of cross gen releases, which made people feel like there was no point in upgrading, which made cross gen more consistent, creating a feedback loop. We're now three years into the current gen and I imagine a lot of people are figuring they'll wait until the next gen, or until a Slim or improved version of the consoles comes out.
I LOVE that people who bought PS5s and xsexs or whatever, got truly, deeply ripped off. Because nobody made you buy it. Nobody even tricked you. It was YOU who fricked up

It’s ending. Xbox exclusives from now on will only be for Series X and Sony are doing the same thing for PS5 now that their slew of PS4/5 releases are over. This gen is different from all others because of the shortages but things are finally on track. The consoles have been out for 3 years but imo 9th gen really started this year
