Probably the highest production values of any Soulslike, but whether you like it or not will depend on what you like most about Souls games. There's not much exploration at all, it's just a pretty slick 30-40 hour single player game.
>Souls with actual story, character depth, and motivations explained through action as well as dialog >Instead of reading story developments via item tooltip
This alone mogs the frick out of Souls worldbuilding. Only Bloodborne came remotely close.
I agree in general but you're really exaggerating how bad it is in souls. I never read much of the lore in dark souls 1 but I still pieced together most of the story without a guide or youtube or anything
I'm not joking when I say that I genuinely do not believe anyone plays those games. Someone must be buying them because the AC sales numbers but I have never met anyone who actually plays them even among diehard normalgays. The company who makes them must be buying them to inflate sales numbers. It's the only way.
yes. Miyazaki once said that the lore is confusing on purpose. By design there's contradictions and holes so big you can't fill them our reliably, so anyone can fill the gaps in their own way. Anything he says is just his interpretation.
Thats because it is. The souls design philosophy is to create an interesting world and setting first, then wrap a loose story around it. The story is an afterthought and always has been and should be viewed more like a mythos that doesnt make perfect sense. But then moron lore analyzers do all the legwork overanalyzing it and spinning it into some deep complex headcanon that needs to be told through a 10 hour video essay. It's kind of genius and works well for the game because if you want lore you can dig deep for it through bits and pieces in the actual game or youtubers but if you dont give a shit you can just play the game without it being forced down your throat through shitty moviegame cutscenes and long dialogues.
Anyone who pretends like they know what’s going on after they beat these games first time without any clarity from lore tubers is lying. You can acknowledge that you get the central premise of “kill these sword and board schemers” because the game intro is basically a CG rogues gallery. But no one should be acting like they beat these games knowing the machinations of the actual bit players or bosses like you can in LoP. In LoP it’s obvious by mid game that Manus is the core villain, that something isn’t right with Geppetto. You know about all the factions and what they do why they either don’t work together or why they’re gone. There’s no weird healing church, great ones obscurity so the fates of most characters is upfront. There’s no mystery around who Vegnini is and you found out everything about his past in full clarity because the game literally explains it to you. About the most obscure element of LoP is probably the origins of Ergo prior to it being discovered and the hand of god. But since the game sequel baited I doubt that’ll stay a mystery forever.
>he didnt watch a 5 hour youtube fan theory explaining the story
heres your problem, its clearly explained on youtube and its your fault for not researching the plot
>"everything is dandy and happy ever after"
The city is still half-destroyed. Carlo's father died protecting him. A ton of good people died including Eugenie's brother. There's plenty of sad stuff, it just doesn't wallow in despair and Carlo even managed to give a happy end to Sophia.
Bloodborne mogs this soulless game to hell and back
>mogs
Opinion discarded. If you're incapable of communicating without using buzzwords like a gay little pisscord troony / twitch addicted moron, then you're just a homosexual nothing person and I will continue to treat you as such.
Good bosses and gamepay during said bosses.
Neat graphics and good performance in general.
Piss poor exploration and level design almost everything is just a corridor with nothing interesting in it.
kino as frick ending and finale. felt like the game just kept improving. bit disappointed with the final bosses (and true final boss) difficulty though although thematically and visually they were amazing. beat them both in two tries with no summons, but I hear there were nerfs so that kind of blows.
I liked replacing the rapier blade with a huge weapon so you do big damage with the counter and you're usually still fast enough to do 2 hits in opening
the recs from
booster glaive into puppet ripper into katana
puppet ripper can stay as a backup for crowd control
are great, I'd also add the Dancer's Curved Sword as a technique moveset I enjoyed
Can someone who loves Sekiro, and love DaS3, think DaS2 was alright, and that DaS1 had the best level design, tell me if this game is worth playing?
All soul-likes by people out FromSoft are garbage, no exceptions, but I'm hearing good things about this one.
If you like souls games then yes you will almost definitely enjoy lies of p. I've played a bunch of other souls likes and this is the only one that comes close to the level of polish and quality you'd find in a fromsoft game. If you enjoy the process of getting fricked over by a boss, slowly learning their patterns, eventually besting them after hours of learning them, then you will have a great time with Lies of P.
>someone who loves Sekiro, and love DaS3, think DaS2 was alright, and that DaS1 had the best level design
oh shit that's me.
you heard right, that's the one instance where they got it right.
my only complaint is that a bit too many encounters are ambushes. you really have to stay focused if you don't want to get wrecked by the 15th puppet hiding behind a corner with a baseball bat.
Would've been a much better game if they took inspiration from soulbourne foruma rather than shamelessly copying it (everything from lack of pause menu, bonfire, etc)
I went to the back after a couple times. You have to memorize all his moves anyway, probably I should have dodged more because I'm not that good at parrying and the bosses have weird delays everywhere. I could never parry his red moves
I play pretty aggressive and killed him in a few tries. I think the mistake most people make is playing too defensively/reactively. Just try to land charged attacks as often as you can so they stagger faster and yeah dodge more instead of trying to parry everything, the parry window is smaller than Sekiros.
>I think the mistake most people make is playing too defensively/reactively.
just go full bonk with the wrench and booster glaive. staggers the frick out of everything. didnt need more than two tries for any boss except swamp c**t (took like 8, he's too quick)
I wasn't really enjoying myself after they made me go through the first level again but this time after an earthquake. So I ran through the entire island of alchemists. I also chose the bad ending because I didn't want to play anymore. The game went a little long and the boss rush at the end didn't help for me. I am probably the minority on this opinion but it is what it is. I'd give it a 7/10, good game but lacked it's own personality and became a chore in the last quarter. (I Think most souls games do this too)
One of the best soullikes cus it added a lot of stuff which improve formula instead just being a clone.
And I can tell cus I play almost all soulsike even the bad one.
The weapon handle and blade system felt like a natural iteration on bloodbornes trick weapons. If there ever is a BB2, I wonder if theyll steal this idea.
Technique because it has the Booster Glaive which is as effective as it is awesome. It also works great with heavy blades so you won't be lacking in big weaponry because you went Technique. Booster Saw ftw

Based. Nothing worse then working to collect an item just to find out it's some pvp bullshit. I don't want to interact with wiki editor dweebs during my 2 hours of leisure time a week
t. shitter
those games would be NOTHING without the pvp
So glad you can play Elden Ring online completely alone without interacting with sperg invaders and if you invade you'll probably be punished by autistic motherfrickers, frick pvp
I heard P means blood in korean or something so it works better in the native tongue. Weird choice still, should have when with something Italian leaning.
I have over 1000 hours in Nioh 1 and 2 combined and i think lies of P is a better game. It's a bit too short is my only complaint, hopefully DLC fixes that.
Yes, Nioh has far superior combat but besides the bonfire and leveling shit it doesn't have much in common with souls.
Lies of P feels far more souls esque and dare I say it might even be better than fromsoft's games.
>better than fromsoft's games >worse aesthetic >worse level design >being even linear than ds3
The combat is pretty fun though, some of the weapons are pretty cool but that's all. I wouldn't rank them above fromsoft's games
Went strength and my weapon choice is based purely on largest handle i can find and largest blade i can find, its working out. Using the bone saw blade and the exploding pickaxe handle currently
I like it so far. Spent 2 hours total yesterday getting raped by this Black person but I beat him in the end. Was he supposed to be this tough for a 2nd boss?
It runs great too, getting 85 fps on ultra at 1440p on a fricking 5700xt. 100+ fps if I turn shit down to high.
GOTY so far for me.
Honestly, I find him to be one of the hardest bosses in the game. Even in newgame +, he was one of the hardest ones. There are a few bosses like that in the game that are quite hard, particularly when you don't have as many options for how to play.
I'm not sure how I did it, but I beat him first try and was drunk as frick.
In that state I just don't give a frick and because I'm not tense at all I actually parry better than in a sober state. It's just 'aight boss, do whatever'
Almost perfect. It just needed a little more emphasis on exploration. There's potential for hidden items and paths everywhere but instead it's just invisible walls and waist-high obstacles à la darks souls 2.
>adv/tech build
Which handle for the electric saw blade? The default one scales with motivity, but the other tech/advance handles only have stabbing movesets which the blade doesn't have. Is there any other handle ecentually? Advance is such a meme build, should never have done that.
absolutely loved it, the pulse cell and weapon system are what sold me on it originally.
though I experienced some weird difficulty spikes and valleys, like I had monumentally more trouble with the Mad Clown Puppet than the Puppet King, the former killed me upwards of ten times, the latter I beat in one try, which feels incorrect, to say the least.
Where do I go to climb up and kill the ballista in the swamp with the two giant puppet of the future? I want to kill them, but the damn ballista is ruining it.
stick to the left wall, the will be a sloped road upwards. the entrance to the tower is a fair bit after the puppets of the future. it's not something you can miss, you have to go through it, so just go forward.
incredibly impressive for a studios first attempt at a soulslike, what i hope is they move away from being bloodborne inspired and truly make their own style of game next that doesn't rely on "look we made bloodborne 2"
They clearly have the talent to do it.
I'd definitely recommend it, it's very competently made. However I feel it's also pretty overrated. This doesn't come close to any of From's games in any way.
Is advanced builds good in this game? I figure yu're gonna have to have at least 3 different weapons you upgrae evenly with it, one fire, one shock and one acid?
not really, since the best weapons are all motivity/technique. although it's completely viable. pretty much every weapon is viable, but heavy blade/light handle is the easy mode
I'm in NG+ and just reached the 2nd to last area. I noticed that besides damage stats the softcaps in this game are absurdly high... should I start dumping points into motivity or keep leveling vitality / vigor / capacity?
Kinda surprising in general that only 5 people managed to wrect the entire hotel so much. It must've taken quite some time to demolish everything to the point we see. I assume Alidoro, cat and Fox didn't join on the mayhem too much, so it's likely mostly the 5 Black person rabbits.
I don't like how few boss stones there are. I got my booster glaive at +9, but my katana is still at +3, so I see no reason to use it. it feels like it does a lot less damage, and would need to be at +4 at this point to be equal.
>didn't find belle my first playthrough >chose not to lie to her the second playthrough >lying to her gives you a record
AHHHHH
guess I'm stuck going to ng++ in order to platinum the game...
I thought it was pretty fun. Really good work for a studio's first attempt. Animations and tells on enemies can be a little janky but most are pretty serviceable. Nice to play a Souls like for the first time in awhile where blocking and strafing work as well as dodging. Also, if anyone knows what track plays inside the opera house level, PLEASE tell me. The 'official soundtrack' is all boss themes and records and I want THAT song instead god FRICKING damn it.
It's alright, the world is way too linear and there isn't much variety in builds/playstyles
I still prefer Nioh 2 and even Code Vein when it comes to soulslikes
Nioh and Wo Long are their own brand of arpgs at this point. The last element that ties them with souls is literally just a checkpoint system and even there they introduced a lot of new mechanics like morale flags and divine beast/recall.
Lies is certainly the best "straight" soulslike.
Wait with LOTF if you must. They are actively patching the game because it was released in a blatantly unfinished state.
If you decide to play, just make a pure radiance build.
you're right bros, I'll wait to play LOTF until they fix some jank and in the mean time I'll try out nioh 2
What's bad about it? Steam forums are full of cries about the healing system but it looks the same as BB.

everything about it is really sluggish. The parry is on a two-button combo and takes a year to come out. Healing item drop rate is WAY lower than Bloodborne.

On the flip side it seems to have normals, specials and charged attacks for all weapons including some really sick ass moves, actual firearms that have a good visual impact to them so it looks at the very least promising enough to pirate.

lies of P ng+ turns up the difficulty quite a bit. bosses will 2-3 shot you and they're roughly 1.5x as tanky (in terms of absolute hits needed to kill) as NG. it's fun

Newgame + is actually worth playing, unlike most From games where it's just harder. You unlock a new tier of P-organ upgrades (and a 7th if you play newgame ++), and honestly I found it to be much easier, since you'll have way more options for how to approach situations. Make good use of your legion arms and boss weapons and it's a lot of fun. I think I actually enjoyed it more on newgame+ than I did on the first playthrough.
I got the true ending my first time. They make it kinda clear you're not supposed to trust him. I do appreciate that while you have choices in the game, it's not FROM bullshit where you have to look it up to figure out how the hell to end a quest. Like Solaire's stuff in DS1, literally impossible anyone would ever figure that shit out on their own. Here it's easy enough to just switch things up the next playthrough and see what happens, and not have to worry about talking to someone a specific number of times or something before they randomly die. They're also pretty forgiving with the lies -- I told the truth a couple of times but that doesn't lock you out of anything.
Also pretty cool that you can always go back to do riddles if you missed them...I noticed in my 3 playthroughs that the trigger to get the calls seems almost random. I often times had to go back, but even if you've already passed 2 doors and don't have the keys you can still go back and get them.
Yeah, but lying to him made sense. You don't really know the whole story yet, he has been an ally and kind to you, and while I didn't trust him I was playing it sly. You're doing what a human would do; sparing someone feelings because you don't want them to feel bad. As for Manus, I told the truth there and it doesn't matter. There's one part where if you tell Eugenie the truth, it makes you more human. As long as you listen to the records, you can miss like 3 lies and still have humanity.
tbh it's only consistent in that you're "supposed" to always lie or always tell the truth. Actual good writing would have your humanity increase based on the specific situation (i.e. telling Eugenie the truth or admitting that you're a killer to the Riddler should increase your humanity), not a binary choice.
Literally both of those situation DO increase your humanity...

I literally just told her the truth last night and it did not increase my humanity BUT you need to tell her the truth anyway over two playthroughs for maximum overhumanity

It does increase your humanity, but I think you have to go talk to her for the reward. Sit at the stargazer and then go talk to her again to get the record, that's when it increases.
you're right bros, I'll wait to play LOTF until they fix some jank and in the mean time I'll try out nioh 2
Nioh 2 is amazing and if you haven't played it already, you probably didn't play Strangers of Paradise either, you should play both of those before touching Lords of the Fallen
I truly believe that when more people are able to give this game a shot (There's a lot of other games people are busy with) that lies of P will be remembered as a cult classic. It will take at least 2 years before this game gets the praise it actually deserves. And I went into this game with absolutely zero expectations.
Just beat the swamp monster. Not sure why people found him hard. Just literally stay at range and wait for him to lunge at you, parry and punish him, and repeat lol.
>Story is really good one of the very rare cases of "LE FAIRY TALE BUT LE DARK" done well and has a nice twist on the original story without feeling like it's trying to be superior to the original >Handle/blade system has a lot of potential unfortunately some handles have a damage penalty with the blade for whatever fricking reason >Game looks really fricking good 10/10 aesthetic >Really feels like they gave up on a bunch of bosses some of them are too fricking lazy and have fast attacks that aren't telegraphed at all, it's just random bullshit >Definitely needs to have more forgiving parry frames I honestly can't see your average person beating a lot of the bosses like that cancerous gank even with the summon >Some bosses such as Laxasia's second phase and the Nameless Puppet have too much fricking visual clutter and you can't tell what the frick is going on >Needs a better indicator of when it's better to dodge an attack vs parrying it >Consumables are actually fricking useful but currency isn't without neglecting a bunch of levels so it's hard to farm them
>Definitely needs to have more forgiving parry frames
I think people value the parry way to much in this game. Blocking is just safer majority of the time especially when you get the organ upgrades that let you get all your grey health back in one to two hits
Don't think there's one specific, there's just a few that increase your guard retain or whatever it's called so blocking with a high block stat weapon essentially allows you to lose nearly no health (if you can hit back once or twice)
Haven't gotten the game yet, although it's wishlisted.
Is this actually viable? I'm tired of ER's 'gotcha' attacks and I can see a lot of that in this. I just want to block for god's sake.
yes that buff is mandatory. stupid since blocking is useless without it. Same with a lot of the P organ buffs, they should have been activated from the start while other P-organ buffs are just fricking useless
>Definitely needs to have more forgiving parry frames I honestly can't see your average person beating a lot of the bosses like that cancerous gank even with the summon
Good, keep normie morons out.
The one attack by the swamp monster where it moves backwards and slaps its tentacles hits me every time, unless im already moving away for some other reason. No indication it’s gonna do that. Only a few attacks are like that in the whole game tho.
Lasaxia phase 2 sperging around the map like a cringy anime character comes to mind, by far one of the most bullshit and unfun fights, the swamp monster was also pretty fricking bad but I didn't bother and I just summoned the NPC
I never parried her 2fast4u attack after the lightning barrage. I beat the game three times and fought her like 30 times. I never understood the timing.
>just got to alchemist island >Advance build >My Advance is 30 >putting more points in Advance does nothing to my damage
So i should just dump levels into HP and Stamina or what
Damage stats softcap at 50. Save up for 5 levels then see if it increases your damage. HP / Stamina / Carry weight all scale extremely well up until ~60
>Stamina >scaling well
homie it starts dipping off at 15 already, by 30 it's hot garbage since it drops to 2 stamina EVERY 3RD LEVEL and probably hardcaps at 36, complete waste of levels.
The poison axe was fricking based. I had like 30 in ADV in NG+ and the fricker was the only reason I could beat Nameless Puppet. It’s fable art just slops out a huge puddle of goop and does so much fricking damage and it’s charged R2 was a fantastic gap closer. The amount of push perfect guarding does against him is BS but no matter how far he sent me one charge R2 and the axe just pull me to him. What a fricking great weapon
Damage stats softcap at 50. Save up for 5 levels then see if it increases your damage. HP / Stamina / Carry weight all scale extremely well up until ~60
50 for S scaling, advance weapons have split dmg and never reach that. 30 is a lot already, but at least it strengthens legion arm. Pump vit and potential
>cleared 1st playthrough with motivity build using Elec Chainsaw/dancer handle and my trusty frozen feast. >want to try some tech weapons in my 2nd one >none of them feel as good as my previous weapons >deal barely any dmg to the watchman >back to using my trusty frozen feast again
I liked the Dancer Greatsword and weapon from King of Puppets, used those two and the Katana on my first playthrough, now I'm doing Advance with the elemental weapons and I'm kinda disappointed none of the boss weapons have any elemental damage
Best clone, and best game after Scholar.
Like I said before, I always thought that linearity was a big problem in DS3 and how this is the main reason why I dislike the game, but I love P. So, linearity is not a problem. One has soul and was made with a passion, the other game does not.
>NG+ gives out tons of XP >XP needed to level caps out for some reason at around 16,000 so you can just powerlevel forever
my build was just ridiculous at the end of my second run
It doesn't stay there forever, it actually increases like normal after a while. I got to be a pretty high level by the end of newgame ++, but it was taking like 33k ergo to level.
Lies of P is proof that if you're gonna shamelessly makes a soulslike, you should just copy paste the gameplay as well instead of trying to do your own thing.
as autistic as that guy may be with his videos, it does show the instances of when you can parry the bosses so that can help any casual player
ultimately, you can just cheese every boss with the shield
He used the grindstone that gives you perfect guard while holding down block. It lasts for a short period of time, but can be lengthened with the right P-organ. Now, he still has super good skill to be able to do it for so long, but the grindstone makes a huge difference.
Oh wow, you're right. That's some outrageous muscle memory. I didn't know you could just hold down the guard and then tap it at the right moment. That's one criticism I have of the game, the perfect guard window is way too slim, and it often feels inconsistent, so practicing is crazy difficult because I have no clue when certain attacks are supposed to be blocked. If they widened that window just slightly it would be much better.
>Lotf >Combat animations look weightless and floaty >LoP >Combat animations look weightless and floaty but with lot of screen shake effect to make it look heavier
Why is Japan is the only country that can make good video game animations?
I tried the demo multiple times and I just can't get into it.
First, yes, the main character is part of it. I don't want to play as a "We have Timothee Chalamet at home" Pinnochio. I can't look at or listen to the real Timothee, so that association kind of carried over to this, unfortunately.
Second, you're fighting robots and, I don't know, fighting robots just has less stakes to me. I want to fight living things. I know it seems silly, but I just kind of zone out when it comes to robots.
blocking concept is cool but executed horribly, feels like the reward for perfectly blocking is not what it should be, especially against some of the slightly later bosses.
the windups and timings get pretty brutal and it's just like congrats on the perfect block, 30 more and you break my weapon, have fun getting your damage in.
I'd like it more if perfect blocks could on their own stagger enemies and be a tool for getting more damage
plus everything inbetween bosses is piss easy, might as well just have the game be a boss rush, setting was v cool though.
By far the best "soulslike" not developed by Fromsoft, and even including their games it'd be one of the better ones
It's got the best take on combat I've seen in any of these games and I'd only understand preferring the build variety of others like ER if you want to primarily want to be a caster or some other stuff this game doesn't accomodate
Where it falls short of From is in the level design and not having much hidden stuff overall, level design isn't bad, it's very competent and enemy placement etc. is solid, but exploring and finding stuff just isn't that interesting somehow
I promise you the 4-frame parry window would be enough if the enemy animations were more human. It makes plenty of sense for the puppet enemies, then you realize every enemy in the game has the same twitchy comic book movement
Yeah, well. I guess people assumed that DS3 would be more ''open'', like DS2 was.
I would complain less if they removed all spellcasters from the game. Magic users (sorceries, miracles, pyro, all of them) just fricking suck in DS3.
The people complaining about DS3 are just mentally ill FS haters who don't play the games, you can tell people who discuss this game have actually played it
The reason people were annoyed with this in DS3 is because it’s obviously a downgrade in level design compared to DS1/2. The way levels pan out in DS3 is closer to Bloodborne. LoP isn’t getting away with the lack of exploration. People who reviewed this game all stated that was an issue. However the reason why it’s less contentious is because unlike games like Code Vein or Nioh the over all structure of the levels is still engaging. Everything looks crisp and short cuts/hidden paths and enemy placement is really good. So people are more forgiving of the linearity.
It's good. Still not quite as good as From's game but still definitely worth playing if you like this kind of action RPG. For coming from a basically unknown dev, it's surprisingly solid.
It’s a 9/10 game that’s largely iterative of the Fromsoft formula rather than trying to be cute and trying too hard to be different. Combat is fantastic but funnels you into a very specific play style that doesn’t appeal to combat autists. Its exploration is good but due to it being linear (something I don’t consider a negative) it doesn’t reach the spectacle of LoTF. Though as a counter sometimes LoTF is too dense. Enemies variety is some of the best in the genre with each new biom introducing new enemies or interesting remixes of previous enemies that isn’t just puppet but now with red skin. Builds are not as varied as other Fromsoft titles however I’d say build variety is on par with Bloodborne. Music is great but doesn’t reach the same iconic heights as Fromsoft games. If they had leaned into the type of OST that nameless puppet had maybe the OST would be more original. The records are fantastic though. SFX is amazing. The hit for perfect guard is fricking masculine as frick and everything sounds crunchy and weighty. Lore is just okay but that’s largely because the the core narrative isn’t obtuse so you know what is going on at all times. There’s no character creator but I’m not one of those losers who can’t self insert into a character that isn’t my own creation so this isn’t a negative to me. And of course the boss battles safe for maybe 3 are the strongest we’ve seen in the genre. Over all the foundation for this game is significantly stronger than LoTF because it understood its scope and didn’t try to over reach in places to be le heckin better than muh Dark Souls. We already know from Reddit threads that the devs are hiring more people for level and dungeon design for the next game and DLC. If the next game is potentially as expansive as LoTF but with the frame work of the first game we could be getting a new gold standard to rival Froms best works.
I played P on gamepass and loved it, but disliked the strict commitment to input. It makes it feel sticky. Also the enemy animations were so shit, it just amplified my former issue.
Is LotF worth the price if you love souls games but is seeking a more fluid input experience?
>Is LotF worth the price if you love souls games but is seeking a more fluid input experience?
hah, no, LotF is the last thing you want to play for a more fluid "anything".
I played P on gamepass and loved it, but disliked the strict commitment to input. It makes it feel sticky. Also the enemy animations were so shit, it just amplified my former issue.

i beat the game 4 times already and never parried a single enemy or boss
Why doesn't it appeal to combat autists (I've seen the opposite expressed a lot) and what specific playstyle do you even mean? If you mean it forces you to parry, it really doesn't. And playstyle wise I suppose it 'forces' you to use at least one melee weapon, but the variety of movesets available felt really good to me
I mean it doesn’t appeal to people who aren’t combat autists. One of the big complaints I saw from LoTFgays is that they didn’t like the how the game was so overly reliant on parry and that just being a dude with a big slab mashing through shit was viable.
Soulful, I enjoyed it a lot. It was nice to see a proper story and happy ending in a soulslike. Weapons were great, environments and bosses too.
But next game they will need to improve level design and make more complex movesets. They also mentioned wanting to add multiplayer.
Hope they succeed, it's not easy.
Pretty fun. Cute boy. At the opera house currently. Game seems linear but that's fine. I've died too many times because my attack collides with the wall, Souls games got better about this overtime.
parade master is a story-oriented boss to stop you from going into the hotel for a moment to feel the tension just like Walker. BRB2 is the real next boss and Laxasia is the next ergo boss. Both challenging.
I'm 12 hours in and it's by far the closest thing to a real Fromsoft Souls game. It's like a mix of DaS3 and Bloodborne. My only real complaint is certain mini-boss enemies have bullshit animation tells that don't feel natural to perfect guard against at all.
I feel like some bosses also have a lot of delays on attacks, I hate that shit.
But yeah, the game is great, I'm glad they just copied the combat instead of trying to do their own shit which wouldn't work.
>Manus had this goddess of fertility reborn into a perfect amazonian entirely for his sake >was simping for a girl that was in a process of being turned into a tree instead
survivor for me at the factory just take a simple ladder down and some nutjob says hi and then tries to rapier me to death i could barely get a hit in at first
10/10 atmosphere
10/10 OST
Stupid as frick story that gets better when you do ng+
Satisfying as frick parrying. Bullshit hard bossfights, solid level design.
Locking stuff behind truth/lying was also neat.
I enjoyed it as much as bloodborne and sekiro.
Fantastic, best non-Fromsoftware souls game. Great combat, enemies, bosses, characters, art, graphics, performance, weapons. Only downsides are lack of exploration and some bad voice acting on certain characters.
While some tracks grew on me, I agree that the insistence on grandiose orchestral tracks for most bosses was pretty lame. Game sorely needed more recurring leitmotifs.
While some tracks grew on me, I agree that the insistence on grandiose orchestral tracks for most bosses was pretty lame. Game sorely needed more recurring leitmotifs.
>Fascination wasted on a rando human "boss"
imagine if Puppet King had a generic orchestra, but Fascination starts playing for Romeo.
I really hate all the homosexual shills there are for this game, but I saw some clips of weapons and have been giving it a shot.
I'll give it to them that the game is a competent and well animated soulsclone- mogs the Bloodborne "vibe" but with steampunk and robits, and mixes BBs and Sekiro's gameplay; basically, they copied From's homework and rearramged it. They changed numbers around enough to give the game a slightly more stiff feel, and to incentivize reacting STRICTLY to boss and enemy attacks, but it's mostly fair. Starting out it was kinda shit tho, they lock items and upgrades that help gamefeel a lot a few bosses in and that's dumb. Plus there is an overabundance of long meme windups and moves that are UNBLOCKABLE with massive tracking AND wind up, which is just annoying and unfair. also I learned I frames are negated for perilous attacks which is stupid.
this would be fine though since this game ISNT sekiro, and means you don't have to use the stricter parry to beat everything, and so the game balances between wanting that bloodborne dodge flow, and wanting you to learn most timings like sekiro. I like this in theory, since the combat is balanced around choices and personal moveset options, and the hp bar isnt defined by deathblows or anything, but sometimes it feels like the devs are trying too hard to make the game bust your balls rather than just making a fun game.
From, is the pinnacle of level design at their best, and P's levels feel more like DaS2 or 3, linear as sin and boring. it's a mario goes from world to world fighting the boss of every stage type romp.
Still no GOOD 3D soulslike that ALSO understands why Dark Souls 1 is so god kino: that interconnected world filled with nooks and crannies.
but I will say, the animations and sound are good, which helps a lot. From's animations are kino, and you cant have a good action game without fun, cool and fluid looking attack strings. P has some janky ending strings, but mostly great.
it's fun. frick shills
the long and short is that Geppetto is a butthole frick who wanted to revive his son and in doing so caused the puppet frenzy. The bad ending of the game is you funnily enough becoming real boy and then killing everyone still alive by the end of the game to tie up loose ends. However that’s only one part of the nonsense in the game and Geppetto isn’t the only butthole.
Planning to pick it eventually but I'd just like to know, does the game have a great club equivalent and if so how far into the game before I can get it?
This Laxasia boss is giving me AIDS. Fricking two phase bullshit. Also, if there's one fricking thing this game should have learned from Sekiro is you shouldn't get guard-broken if you perfect guard, even if you're out of Stamina, especially given the tight timings.
I also don’t like bosses having a desperation attack AFTER you stagger them. Laxasia has a three hit string into a massive electric explosion as a reward for you posture breaking her.
I dunno how you rate the combat or gameplay of this so highly. The choice you give the player is absolute shit. Be sword guy or slower sword/hammer guy. Memorize timings of attacks due to 2 second wind ups with 0.1 second swings (I actually found audio better cues than visual).
nah he has a point. I dodged elden ring delayed attacks just based off of reflexes and thought that people who complained the fights were just memorization were total shitters. but in lies of P the animations are sometimes purposefully misleading. The boss fights are hard for the sake of hard with an element of trial and error.
The funny thing is you have shitters who enjoy dying when the game tricks them because they specifically enjoy trial and error encounters. Also when you do memorize a bosses moves and start dodging on reflex based off of your memorization then it feels very rewarding. However as someone who could dodge based on relfex of attacks the first timei sawy them in elden ring, Lies of P just feels like cheap difficulty for the same of being hard.
Honestly I don't really feel much of a difference between the delays in this and Elden Ring, this one has more weird windups and very quick release, while Elden Ring has more outright delays, and both took getting used to/trial and erroring, and I'd say I have pretty decent reaction speed
i'm pretty sure you're just gonna keep playing pinocchio but he's gonna take the role of that robot from Oz
i'm not american so i have no idea what Oz is about, wikipedia says that robot is dorothys protector
First playthrough Green Swamp Monster took me like a dozen + tries, this time only 3
love this game, but some bosses make me feel like trash, while with others I feel like a god fighting them
Just beat it like, 5 minutes ago. Ended the final boss with a sick ass Puppet Ripper fable art right to the face while out of pulse charges and 1 hit from death. Cinematic as frick, but my fingers are sore from how long I spent fighting that fricker.
I think this is the best souls-like from a company besides fromsoft so far. I might even say it's better than dark souls 2 and 3. 9/10.
The game is mediocre.
There's a great sense of cheapness about Lies of Piss that seems to come from a lack of internal cohesion: there's something heterogeneous about the animations, the different art assets, the awkwardly translated item descriptions and the Crunchyroll dub voice-acting. Everything feels cobbled together, and this feeling's heightened by the way it appropriates so many aspects of Bloodborne without much consideration for the overall effect that game achieves with them.
Completely forgettable.

If you didn't wear the Mad Donkey costume you didn't beat the game
okay/10
Probably the highest production values of any Soulslike, but whether you like it or not will depend on what you like most about Souls games. There's not much exploration at all, it's just a pretty slick 30-40 hour single player game.
>Souls with actual story, character depth, and motivations explained through action as well as dialog
>Instead of reading story developments via item tooltip
This alone mogs the frick out of Souls worldbuilding. Only Bloodborne came remotely close.
Linear as frick though.
I'll take linear and digestible over needing a 5000 tooltip rundown on why squidface mcgiant man is trying to fricking kill you
I agree in general but you're really exaggerating how bad it is in souls. I never read much of the lore in dark souls 1 but I still pieced together most of the story without a guide or youtube or anything
>complain about elden slop being copy pasta
>complain about lies of slop being too linear
if you wanted to have your fill of open ended, why not just play assassin's creed origins? Came out this year
>stop playing those slops and play MY slops!
I'm not joking when I say that I genuinely do not believe anyone plays those games. Someone must be buying them because the AC sales numbers but I have never met anyone who actually plays them even among diehard normalgays. The company who makes them must be buying them to inflate sales numbers. It's the only way.
why is that bad though?
that's not a bad thing
And that's a good thing! XD
No wonder Vaati avoids this game. Probably absolutely seething about being put out of work
I suspected that guy was full of shit and he just makes up 90% of the Souls/Elden Ring lore, is it true?
He basically steals from other places then makes up shit taking advantage of the completely vague as frick and barely present story.
Back when Ganker was pretty much just dark souls general he got caught multiple times copy and pasting what anons wrote in his videos.
yes. Miyazaki once said that the lore is confusing on purpose. By design there's contradictions and holes so big you can't fill them our reliably, so anyone can fill the gaps in their own way. Anything he says is just his interpretation.
sounds like lazy writing tbh
Thats because it is. The souls design philosophy is to create an interesting world and setting first, then wrap a loose story around it. The story is an afterthought and always has been and should be viewed more like a mythos that doesnt make perfect sense. But then moron lore analyzers do all the legwork overanalyzing it and spinning it into some deep complex headcanon that needs to be told through a 10 hour video essay. It's kind of genius and works well for the game because if you want lore you can dig deep for it through bits and pieces in the actual game or youtubers but if you dont give a shit you can just play the game without it being forced down your throat through shitty moviegame cutscenes and long dialogues.
yes. it was fun for the first 2 times, but now it's just tedious.
Sounds like you’re a moron.
That's just sekiro though.
Even P and Gepetto's relationship is just Sekiro and owl.
Maybe it is but I don't see an argument where Bloodborne + Sekiro is a bad thing
I wish they played up Sekiro more. The puppet arm had so much more potential for BB trick weapons vs. a literal copy of shinobi prosthetics
Bloodborne mogs this soulless game to hell and back
Bro in literally every Souls game the story is explained via Intro and character Dialouge . Just like in every game.
>this is what from gays actually believe
i finish fromslop and i have no fricking idea whats going on
You finished sekiro, otogi, kuon, ac and still don't know what is going on? do you have brain damage, or just a moron?
>sucking off bootleg soulsclone while calling the games that these bootleg copied fromslop
Success breed jealousy, i see
armored core is the only game from fs In which I really understood what was going on when I finished it. Except the third ending.
Sounds like a you problem aka Skill issue.
I don't think it's explicitly spelled out that Arlecchino is the one who killed Vegnini's family but that's not terribly difficult to figure out
It is clearly spelled out if you talk all the way with Arlecchino and talk to Vegnini afterwards
>he didnt watch a 5 hour youtube fan theory explaining the story
heres your problem, its clearly explained on youtube and its your fault for not researching the plot
>"I'm so moronic that anyone smarter than me is lying."
>This alone mogs the frick out of Souls worldbuilding.
>One ending is "everything is dandy and happy ever after"
nah
>"everything is dandy and happy ever after"
The city is still half-destroyed. Carlo's father died protecting him. A ton of good people died including Eugenie's brother. There's plenty of sad stuff, it just doesn't wallow in despair and Carlo even managed to give a happy end to Sophia.
>good worldbuilding is when everything sucks forever and is inherently unfixable

>complains about buzzword
>says troony
Oh god I can't fathom how low your IQ can be
Good bosses and gamepay during said bosses.
Neat graphics and good performance in general.
Piss poor exploration and level design almost everything is just a corridor with nothing interesting in it.

kino as frick ending and finale. felt like the game just kept improving. bit disappointed with the final bosses (and true final boss) difficulty though although thematically and visually they were amazing. beat them both in two tries with no summons, but I hear there were nerfs so that kind of blows.
used the trident from bishop all game, dex build
default short black hair + fox costume + fox ears = best look
Funny enough Nameless was my hardest boss in my first playthrough.
Simon fricking filtered me in NG. Puppet was a breeze in ng compared to simon.

I saved this thread from page 11
What weapon should I go for after rapier, if I'm doing all technique?
booster glaive
booster glaive into puppet ripper into katana
puppet ripper can stay as a backup for crowd control
I liked replacing the rapier blade with a huge weapon so you do big damage with the counter and you're usually still fast enough to do 2 hits in opening
the recs from
are great, I'd also add the Dancer's Curved Sword as a technique moveset I enjoyed
Yes, if you like vanilla souls you'll like this game. If you like games like Nioh, then no.
Complete opposite for me, I really liked Lies of P and Niohs+SoP, but hate fromshit (except BB)
Would've been a much better game if they took inspiration from soulbourne foruma rather than shamelessly copying it (everything from lack of pause menu, bonfire, etc)
I just got past the archbishop and that fight was fricking bullshit, obnoxious camera so I cant even see his tells. Took like 2 hours
I love that formula so if I just ignore that it's a clone I'm able to enjoy it a lot
>struggling on post nerf bishop
Were you trying to fight him in the front in phase 2?
Unironic masterpiece. A true work of art.
You can tell it's good because all the swarthy ESL subhumans here seethe about it in every thread.
asiatic troony cope
The bosses being "weak" phase 1 into "muh true form" phase 2 got old by the end
Swamp monster didnt need a second phase, neither did the archbishop
I like it
I wasn't really enjoying myself after they made me go through the first level again but this time after an earthquake. (I Think most souls games do this too)
it's underrated kino I enjoyed it
One of the best soullikes cus it added a lot of stuff which improve formula instead just being a clone.
And I can tell cus I play almost all soulsike even the bad one.
The weapon handle and blade system felt like a natural iteration on bloodbornes trick weapons. If there ever is a BB2, I wonder if theyll steal this idea.
More like Licks up Pee
mouth watering face
yeah he's so cute it's unreal
it's good if you like trial and error bossfights with unnatural and unreadable animations
it's bad if you don't like those
and that's literally it
Technique or motivity for first playthrough?
Technique then use bishops spear weapon is the best imo.
So I chose right, thanks bros.
Technique because it has the Booster Glaive which is as effective as it is awesome. It also works great with heavy blades so you won't be lacking in big weaponry because you went Technique.
Booster Saw ftw
>no character creation
>no invasions

pvp is such a miniscule part of the souls series. it not being included is barely noticable.
t. shitter
those games would be NOTHING without the pvp
Based. Nothing worse then working to collect an item just to find out it's some pvp bullshit. I don't want to interact with wiki editor dweebs during my 2 hours of leisure time a week
Character creation does not matter when you have a helmet on for 99% of the game and you see the back of your character’s head 99% of the time.
So glad you can play Elden Ring online completely alone without interacting with sperg invaders and if you invade you'll probably be punished by autistic motherfrickers, frick pvp

dumb name
I heard P means blood in korean or something so it works better in the native tongue. Weird choice still, should have when with something Italian leaning.
>the game is like bloodborne because it has rallying as a mechanic
Dumbest fricking meme with this game
You have to be actually blind to not see all the similarities between the 2 games artistically and mechanically.
didn't play it / 10
I don't play games wfere characters look like that
It's great. It's the best clone by miles. Daresay better than a few fromsoft as well.
Ni-Oh games are infinitely better
I don't even mind the loot in Nioh (which is the flaw you'll find most often) but still prefer Lies. By a lot.
Lies of P feels far more souls esque and dare I say it might even be better than fromsoft's games.
>better than fromsoft's games
>worse aesthetic
>worse level design
>being even linear than ds3
The combat is pretty fun though, some of the weapons are pretty cool but that's all. I wouldn't rank them above fromsoft's games
>worse aesthetic
wrong
>worse level design
wrong again
>llinear
That's a good thing, frick open world cancer.
Having branching paths is not open world games's feature moron. Is ds1 open world?
>Having branching paths is not open world games's feature moron
I never claimed such a thing, stop making things up you schizo.
Went strength and my weapon choice is based purely on largest handle i can find and largest blade i can find, its working out. Using the bone saw blade and the exploding pickaxe handle currently
I did the same thing first playthrough. Eventually swapped to the live puppet axe with exploding pickaxe handle when i got it.
>live puppet axe
when do you get that
Halfway through Chapter 8: The Poison Swamp™.
Does anyone else think it should be mandatory for twinks to be nude in public?
no but each house should be equipped with one
I like it so far. Spent 2 hours total yesterday getting raped by this Black person but I beat him in the end. Was he supposed to be this tough for a 2nd boss?
It runs great too, getting 85 fps on ultra at 1440p on a fricking 5700xt. 100+ fps if I turn shit down to high.
GOTY so far for me.
he's pretty rough for how early he is but honestly he's a needed frick-you as a set piece for the upcoming frick-you bosses
Best souls game since the last souls game.
>adv/tech build
Which handle for the electric saw blade? The default one scales with motivity, but the other tech/advance handles only have stabbing movesets which the blade doesn't have. Is there any other handle ecentually? Advance is such a meme build, should never have done that.
I think you shouldn't bother about adv at all. I have used the chainsaw with dancer cs handle and it is still pretty good without adv.
Why the frick are there so many breakable floor/bridges. There are more of them in this game than the whole fromsoft games combine
absolutely loved it, the pulse cell and weapon system are what sold me on it originally.
though I experienced some weird difficulty spikes and valleys, like I had monumentally more trouble with the Mad Clown Puppet than the Puppet King, the former killed me upwards of ten times, the latter I beat in one try, which feels incorrect, to say the least.
Nioh is still king of soulslikes not made by From
Stop fricking calling it that, this game is not sexual you moronic coomer
Where do I go to climb up and kill the ballista in the swamp with the two giant puppet of the future? I want to kill them, but the damn ballista is ruining it.
stick to the left wall, the will be a sloped road upwards. the entrance to the tower is a fair bit after the puppets of the future. it's not something you can miss, you have to go through it, so just go forward.
Aha, so I keep going to the wooden structure where carcasses start to appear? Go it! Thanks
incredibly impressive for a studios first attempt at a soulslike, what i hope is they move away from being bloodborne inspired and truly make their own style of game next that doesn't rely on "look we made bloodborne 2"
They clearly have the talent to do it.

Don't reply to steamchart posters, they are all moronic.
I'd definitely recommend it, it's very competently made. However I feel it's also pretty overrated. This doesn't come close to any of From's games in any way.
Is advanced builds good in this game? I figure yu're gonna have to have at least 3 different weapons you upgrae evenly with it, one fire, one shock and one acid?
>builds
this isn't nioh or ds,er, shithead
How is it not when different weapons scale with different stats and enemies are weak to different elements and types of damage?
not really, since the best weapons are all motivity/technique. although it's completely viable. pretty much every weapon is viable, but heavy blade/light handle is the easy mode
If you want to spec into throwing shit at things, you get to throw more shit.
Str or Dex will bonk harder though
why did they do this?
the black rabbit brotherhood seem like they're meant to be seen as childish.. arrested development hoodlum types
I'm in NG+ and just reached the 2nd to last area. I noticed that besides damage stats the softcaps in this game are absurdly high... should I start dumping points into motivity or keep leveling vitality / vigor / capacity?
yeah but that's just weird and demonic
Definity stop leveling Technique. You get better scaling with balanced weapons (e.g. B motivity, B technique weapons)
Advance weapons are fun but not as OP as crit weapons, since you can stack crit chance with grindstone/fable art and buff crit damage with amulet.
Kinda surprising in general that only 5 people managed to wrect the entire hotel so much. It must've taken quite some time to demolish everything to the point we see. I assume Alidoro, cat and Fox didn't join on the mayhem too much, so it's likely mostly the 5 Black person rabbits.
How do I get better at parrying? I feel like most enemies have attacks that are way too quick to react to.
This or lords of the fallen?
This one now. Lords of the Fallen when the next major patch comes that fixes most of its issues.
I want to f*ck Fox's voice. hnnnnng.
some of the VA in this game is absolute ear candy.
Her voice acting sucks what are you talking about
different strokes for different folx
>second black rabbit brotherhood fight on ng+
this is hell
never mind only took me 3 tries. It actually wasn't that bad, you just really have to switch to a poking weapon with the murder amulet
I don't like how few boss stones there are. I got my booster glaive at +9, but my katana is still at +3, so I see no reason to use it. it feels like it does a lot less damage, and would need to be at +4 at this point to be equal.
I agree. Also why are there only a few of them in one playthrough while you can upgrade 6 normal weapons to +10 at that point
>tfw locked 240hz with 13900k/4090
Is this unfair advantage?
>didn't find belle my first playthrough
>chose not to lie to her the second playthrough
>lying to her gives you a record
AHHHHH
guess I'm stuck going to ng++ in order to platinum the game...
I beat it 3 times before learning how to get the grey hair and good ending, so I went a beat it a 4th just for that.
Exact same thing happened to me I had to do an extra playthrough just to get it
On my second the guy in krat station attacked me first even though I never hit him
It's shit (getting filtered by the cats)
I beat this game yesterday (I'd give it a 9/10 overall) and now I'm upset because I have to play lords of the fallen now 🙁
actually sort of tempted to do the ng+ in lies of p though. I played it a bit and almost got clapped by the first elite cop mob in the train station
you don't have to do anything you don't want to
you're right bros, I'll wait to play LOTF until they fix some jank and in the mean time I'll try out nioh 2
Wait for Bleak Faith, it has a chance of being semi decent. At least it BTFOs LOTF in terms of moveset variety lmao.
there's a demo
it's shit
What's bad about it? Steam forums are full of cries about the healing system but it looks the same as BB.
everything about it is really sluggish. The parry is on a two-button combo and takes a year to come out. Healing item drop rate is WAY lower than Bloodborne.
On the flip side it seems to have normals, specials and charged attacks for all weapons including some really sick ass moves, actual firearms that have a good visual impact to them so it looks at the very least promising enough to pirate.
>parry is on a two-button combo
>Healing item drop
what game did you play?
The Last Faith.
The Last Faith? Anon made an oopsy and called it Bleak Faith but he meant Last Faith
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1274600/The_Last_Faith/
Wait with LOTF if you must. They are actively patching the game because it was released in a blatantly unfinished state.
If you decide to play, just make a pure radiance build.
lies of P ng+ turns up the difficulty quite a bit. bosses will 2-3 shot you and they're roughly 1.5x as tanky (in terms of absolute hits needed to kill) as NG.
I enjoyed NG++ the most honestly
Your last obtained ending was my first lel
The fact that the NPCs icon appears at the bonfire when you can advance their quest is a huge fricking QoL
>They make it kinda clear you're not supposed to trust him
You literally raise humanity (progress towards good ending) by telling him "he was a good father"
Yeah i disagree. The Lie segments were not consistent whatsoever. You're also expected to tell Manus his plans are "a hope for a cure" after Victor.
Pretty sure lying isn't always the only way to increase humanity or get the best outcome
Nioh 2 is amazing and if you haven't played it already, you probably didn't play Strangers of Paradise either, you should play both of those before touching Lords of the Fallen
Bloodbore 2.0 and better than Lords of the Fallen 2023
I'm enjoying dying over and over to bosses to learn the meme katana timing
9/10
maximum humanity is a loving hug
Is the cat even around after the hotel is fricked up
Yes you can find it hiding on top of the shop keeper's shelf
The rabbits don't frick up Eugenie's cat shrine
Best soulsy game next to Sekiro
why did my favorite weapon have to be acquired when the credits roll
cause NG+ is fun and doesn't take much time
KINOCCHIO
I actually pirated LotF and I hated it so I bought this to see if it's any better - yes it is
It sucks, 7/10
I truly believe that when more people are able to give this game a shot (There's a lot of other games people are busy with) that lies of P will be remembered as a cult classic. It will take at least 2 years before this game gets the praise it actually deserves. And I went into this game with absolutely zero expectations.
Just beat the swamp monster. Not sure why people found him hard. Just literally stay at range and wait for him to lunge at you, parry and punish him, and repeat lol.
>Story is really good one of the very rare cases of "LE FAIRY TALE BUT LE DARK" done well and has a nice twist on the original story without feeling like it's trying to be superior to the original
>Handle/blade system has a lot of potential unfortunately some handles have a damage penalty with the blade for whatever fricking reason
>Game looks really fricking good 10/10 aesthetic
>Really feels like they gave up on a bunch of bosses some of them are too fricking lazy and have fast attacks that aren't telegraphed at all, it's just random bullshit
>Definitely needs to have more forgiving parry frames I honestly can't see your average person beating a lot of the bosses like that cancerous gank even with the summon
>Some bosses such as Laxasia's second phase and the Nameless Puppet have too much fricking visual clutter and you can't tell what the frick is going on
>Needs a better indicator of when it's better to dodge an attack vs parrying it
>Consumables are actually fricking useful but currency isn't without neglecting a bunch of levels so it's hard to farm them
>cancerous gank
>equip Puppet Ripper
>spam charged heavy
>hotswap to meme katana when the big boi comes out
>Definitely needs to have more forgiving parry frames
I think people value the parry way to much in this game. Blocking is just safer majority of the time especially when you get the organ upgrades that let you get all your grey health back in one to two hits
yeah but can I do a cool little sword twirl to interrupt their combo to block
No, but you bash someones face in with a saw-blade to block
The enemy animations are absolute loony toon bs. The parry window wouldn't be much of a prob if you can actaully see the moves coming.
Not only are they often time delayed, but when the attack actually travels toward the player, it's like two fricking frames.
>Door Guardian gracefully sailing through the air for five full seconds
Door guarding was hardly even an enemy
he's one of the enemies that sticks out the most for having silly parry-bait animations for me
>when you get the organ upgrades that let you get all your grey health back in one to two hits
Which upgrade is this?
Don't think there's one specific, there's just a few that increase your guard retain or whatever it's called so blocking with a high block stat weapon essentially allows you to lose nearly no health (if you can hit back once or twice)
This one
Haven't gotten the game yet, although it's wishlisted.
Is this actually viable? I'm tired of ER's 'gotcha' attacks and I can see a lot of that in this. I just want to block for god's sake.
yes that buff is mandatory. stupid since blocking is useless without it. Same with a lot of the P organ buffs, they should have been activated from the start while other P-organ buffs are just fricking useless
Nothing beats dodging
>don’t take chip damage
>position better and not knocked out of range
>uses less stamina
yep, game gets massively easier once you just start dodging attacks you find difficult to parry
>Definitely needs to have more forgiving parry frames I honestly can't see your average person beating a lot of the bosses like that cancerous gank even with the summon
Good, keep normie morons out.
Why is it bad that more people get to enjoy the game?
>why is casualizing a challenging title to appeal to the lowest common denominator bad?
I beat it 4 times, still think the perfect block window is too small
>normie
Did you just dodge? I brute forced the parries and ended up not using consumables which I guess was moronic from me
When I got the fury dodge amulet yeah, otherwise I ate that shit every time trying to block it correctly
>just got to alchemist island
>Advance build
>My Advance is 30
>putting more points in Advance does nothing to my damage
So i should just dump levels into HP and Stamina or what
Damage stats softcap at 50. Save up for 5 levels then see if it increases your damage. HP / Stamina / Carry weight all scale extremely well up until ~60
not really, there's no "hard" softcaps like dark souls it's more of a gradual decline
i hate linking youtube but i don't think anyone bothered writing a guide
Jesus Christ this guy's voice is fricking awful
>Stamina
>scaling well
homie it starts dipping off at 15 already, by 30 it's hot garbage since it drops to 2 stamina EVERY 3RD LEVEL and probably hardcaps at 36, complete waste of levels.
wut are u talking about blud im getting 1/2 points every level
its okay scaling
stamina scales well enough but it's fricking pointless to level after 15-20 because you just don't need it
I don't remember any pure advance weapons. Definitely go for the other attack stat that your weapon scales with. Pure builds in this game don't work
The poison axe was fricking based.
50 for S scaling, advance weapons have split dmg and never reach that. 30 is a lot already, but at least it strengthens legion arm. Pump vit and potential

Better than DS2 worse than Elden Ring.
>cleared 1st playthrough with motivity build using Elec Chainsaw/dancer handle and my trusty frozen feast.

PUPPET RIPPER
MEME KATANA
Rapier/Umbrella are unfortunately a shit
I liked the Dancer Greatsword and weapon from King of Puppets, used those two and the Katana on my first playthrough, now I'm doing Advance with the elemental weapons and I'm kinda disappointed none of the boss weapons have any elemental damage
Surprisingly decent for a game made by asiatics
Best clone, and best game after Scholar.
Like I said before, I always thought that linearity was a big problem in DS3 and how this is the main reason why I dislike the game, but I love P. So, linearity is not a problem. One has soul and was made with a passion, the other game does not.
>NG+ gives out tons of XP
>XP needed to level caps out for some reason at around 16,000 so you can just powerlevel forever
my build was just ridiculous at the end of my second run
It doesn't stay there forever, it actually increases like normal after a while. I got to be a pretty high level by the end of newgame ++, but it was taking like 33k ergo to level.
I was level 350 with 45,000 required ergo
Needs some work in some areas, but overall a well-made and very fun game. P is also an absolute cutie.
>bosses start doing attacks when you stagger them
well that's just cruel
no, frick normies and "souls pros" in ther ass
also, only a few do that: victor, laxasai and manus
Lies of P is proof that if you're gonna shamelessly makes a soulslike, you should just copy paste the gameplay as well instead of trying to do your own thing.
>Laxasia, may I please have a turn to attack?
>NO
>o-ok...
lmao
Isn't this sekiro asiatic is in the dev team too? Look like he goes back to sekiro for some reason
Sometimes I just look at those webms and think: ...
as autistic as that guy may be with his videos, it does show the instances of when you can parry the bosses so that can help any casual player
ultimately, you can just cheese every boss with the shield
Ongbal has to be using training mods. It's proof flawlessness in these games don't demand strategy, but rehearsal.
He used the grindstone that gives you perfect guard while holding down block. It lasts for a short period of time, but can be lengthened with the right P-organ. Now, he still has super good skill to be able to do it for so long, but the grindstone makes a huge difference.
he's using the acid grindstone in that video though
Oh wow, you're right. That's some outrageous muscle memory. I didn't know you could just hold down the guard and then tap it at the right moment. That's one criticism I have of the game, the perfect guard window is way too slim, and it often feels inconsistent, so practicing is crazy difficult because I have no clue when certain attacks are supposed to be blocked. If they widened that window just slightly it would be much better.
The dev apparently ask him to help them with the combat and paying him to help promote their game
all these combo autists practice endlessly in order to make their strategy into muscle memory
>aegis + the katana
He didn't beat her.
git gud
P joins Link, Cloud, and 9S as one of the sexiest twinks in gaming.
Why are you keep posting the same art over and over? No one care about making fanart for this game or what?
There's not much at the moment, but what there is is of high quality. And the rest are too lewd for Ganker.
35 on rule34xxx, but I wasn't talking about the amount of porn each has.

Why is Japan is the only country that can make good video game animations?
P's combat animations look like they were inspired by Cartoon Network Saturday morning classics
To be fair, the GS is the chunkiest boi in MH it literally doesn’t get any better than that
even DB uses weight effectively in its animations, in Rise you really throw the WHOLE body into Demon Flight
>posts webm from nu-MH
have a nice day subhuman. die worldsperm
>I want to fight living things
you do
>zombie shit
No thank
Every souls game has zombie shit you fricking homosexual. Did you stop playing DS1 because you fought skeletons?
>What’s with all the puppets?
>I want to fight living things
He doesn’t know…
blocking concept is cool but executed horribly, feels like the reward for perfectly blocking is not what it should be, especially against some of the slightly later bosses.
the windups and timings get pretty brutal and it's just like congrats on the perfect block, 30 more and you break my weapon, have fun getting your damage in.
Great game with lots of soul. I'd like a bit easier parry though.
I promise you the 4-frame parry window would be enough if the enemy animations were more human. It makes plenty of sense for the puppet enemies, then you realize every enemy in the game has the same twitchy comic book movement
Yeah, it would've helped if they didn't stop mid-air to do anime kicks
It's funny how the biggest complaint about ds3 is the linearity but then it suddenly doesn't matter for P anymore haha...
Anonymous here, that wasn't my biggest complaint with DaS3, it was just one of them.
Yeah, well. I guess people assumed that DS3 would be more ''open'', like DS2 was.
I would complain less if they removed all spellcasters from the game. Magic users (sorceries, miracles, pyro, all of them) just fricking suck in DS3.
I don't care about it being linear
I care about it being a boring themepark ride of "oooh do you remember that!?"
Nioh has great level design in the main missions
This. It has by far the best self-contained levels in the entire arpg genre. Fricking Stormveil felt like a Nioh 2 level.
P's pp
tragic nexus removed the naked pp p mod
Why? Do they think P is a child?
Because he's a real boy
>fugtrup finally made some P lewds

>puppet string jumpslam them
>walk around and charge heavy them
>fatal attack
>charge heavy
ehhh
No weight, no soul, no nothing.
It's good. Still not quite as good as From's game but still definitely worth playing if you like this kind of action RPG. For coming from a basically unknown dev, it's surprisingly solid.
I wish there was something to do post game besides PLAY SAME GAME AGAIN!
>Is LotF worth the price
no, it's barely worth pirating and only if you're really starved for souls games
>Is LotF worth the price if you love souls games but is seeking a more fluid input experience?
hah, no, LotF is the last thing you want to play for a more fluid "anything".
Play Nioh instead and choose one of the faster weapons
i beat the game 4 times already and never parried a single enemy or boss
It's ok
The only actual Bad thing about it was the graphic popping, it was way too much
But the rest was ok
The boss balancing is all over the place. Swamp monster being difficult as hell, followed by the corrupted parademaster who only took 2 tries.
Pretty fun.
Both challenging.
im getting a lot of vibes that it's the second best non-Fromsoft lockon action rpg since Nioh.
A lot of attacks are hard to intuit from their animation, but there's still a nice satisfaction to deflect a bunch of attacks in a row
I liked it
Is that Romeo?
>Manus had this goddess of fertility reborn into a perfect amazonian entirely for his sake
>was simping for a girl that was in a process of being turned into a tree instead
any lores explain the size diff?
She was injected with the souls of dead people and mutated/evolved into dommy mommy
Post the mini boss that filtered you. i will start first
The Mad Puppet in front of the opera and the one you posted each took me more tries than the two final bosses lmao
Jester Puppet, frick that thing, harder than half the bosses in the game.
>when the second one shows up
>when you find out you can lure it into the carcasses who will body it
The big little boy puppet also fights the carcass puppets too. It was getting fricked up by the torso baby ones.
>You're laughing. It's the ultimate puppet and you're laughing.
survivor for me at the factory just take a simple ladder down and some nutjob says hi and then tries to rapier me to death i could barely get a hit in at first
I struggled with him and similar frickers until I learned you could just backstab them to death by strafing/dodging to their sides
For me? It’s fully charged Fulminis that launches them like a Looney Tunes cartoon.
Can I pirate it yet?
great, too bad I'm trash at parrying
10/10 atmosphere
10/10 OST
Stupid as frick story that gets better when you do ng+
Satisfying as frick parrying. Bullshit hard bossfights, solid level design.
Locking stuff behind truth/lying was also neat.
I enjoyed it as much as bloodborne and sekiro.
>10/10 OST
if you told me every boss had the same theme I would believe you
its a 7.5/10
really solid but with flaws
it certainly does have soul tbh. especially like the atmosphere and music
Can someone post the gold coin fruit NPC screaming? I forgot when he did it.
How old is P?
I don't wanna be a pedo
He fricks exclusively blue haired girls
He looks 18 or so.
I think he's only about a year old, since he's a puppet that was manufactured.
Fantastic, best non-Fromsoftware souls game. Great combat, enemies, bosses, characters, art, graphics, performance, weapons. Only downsides are lack of exploration and some bad voice acting on certain characters.
ng+ honestly just feels annoying bros
everything hits you for 50% health
imagine a universe where Feel is the final boss theme instead of the generic shit we got
While some tracks grew on me, I agree that the insistence on grandiose orchestral tracks for most bosses was pretty lame. Game sorely needed more recurring leitmotifs.
FACT: the records should've been boss themes
the records are so damn good, really added to the soul of the game with the whole P developing humanity theme
>Fascination wasted on a rando human "boss"
imagine if Puppet King had a generic orchestra, but Fascination starts playing for Romeo.
The nameless puppet theme is fricking kino wtf is wrong with you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qIMckdpnxwI
moron
one of my favorite games now
Getting hit on by the black rabbit brotherhood sister caught me off guard lol
P has some janky ending strings, but mostly great.
it's fun. frick shills
wat is the story behind this who the frick created those murder dolls and for what purpose
pirate waiting for the crack btw
yes but also no
how about you buy it and find out
this is one of the few games to come out this year thats worth the money
I always sample the stuffs before I buy. Cant trust words of stranger on the net mate/
pretty sure theres a demo out there
just grind out Microbux for a free month of GamePass and try it out there
the long and short is that Geppetto is a butthole frick who wanted to revive his son and in doing so caused the puppet frenzy. The bad ending of the game is you funnily enough becoming real boy and then killing everyone still alive by the end of the game to tie up loose ends. However that’s only one part of the nonsense in the game and Geppetto isn’t the only butthole.
>ng+ door guardian
what the frick
The only time I ever had to deal with the shock status effect
what's the problem? he didn't seem any different to me.
what about him?
Planning to pick it eventually but I'd just like to know, does the game have a great club equivalent and if so how far into the game before I can get it?
sorta, from the (almost) last boss
Ah damn ok. Not the worst I guess.
You can get a literal club from almost at the end (pretty much a ng+ weapon) but there are other unga weapons way earlier of course
Well at least I've heard NG+ is good in this, I'm sure I'll find something I like until then.
You will
decent amount of ungabunga strength weapons, big two handed ones take a while to become available though
This Laxasia boss is giving me AIDS. Fricking two phase bullshit. Also, if there's one fricking thing this game should have learned from Sekiro is you shouldn't get guard-broken if you perfect guard, even if you're out of Stamina, especially given the tight timings.
perfect parry the lightning bolts, if you cant do that use the perfect parry grindstone and blast all of them back to her
The lightning is easy, once she gets on the ground I can't breathe. I wish I could use the specter just for phase 2.
once i realized you could parry those balls it was over in 2 tries
even ng+ only took a hand full
I also don’t like bosses having a desperation attack AFTER you stagger them. Laxasia has a three hit string into a massive electric explosion as a reward for you posture breaking her.
>struggle with phase 1 for a bit
>enter the Matrix and katana spin every single attack
>phase 2 starts
I want to get off geppeto's wild ride
Does the green monster count as a puppet in the second phase?
no. the boss is still a monster, just armored.
i'd say yes but havent tested it
I dunno how you rate the combat or gameplay of this so highly. The choice you give the player is absolute shit. Be sword guy or slower sword/hammer guy. Memorize timings of attacks due to 2 second wind ups with 0.1 second swings (I actually found audio better cues than visual).
choice: git gud, y/n?
you chose no
nah he has a point.
What's Dorothy going to play like?
like Pinocchio but better
I can't see her being a swordie. Magic user maybe.
her first weapons will be a choice between a big frick-off silver axe, a picnic basket, and wolverine claws
i'm pretty sure you're just gonna keep playing pinocchio but he's gonna take the role of that robot from Oz
i'm not american so i have no idea what Oz is about, wikipedia says that robot is dorothys protector
Maybe less deflect-focused since she's not a sturdy robot?
Magic blocking, problem solved. The wand more or less takes the place of the Legion Arm.
First playthrough Green Swamp Monster took me like a dozen + tries, this time only 3
love this game, but some bosses make me feel like trash, while with others I feel like a god fighting them
get fricked homosexual
hooray anon
Just beat it like, 5 minutes ago. Ended the final boss with a sick ass Puppet Ripper fable art right to the face while out of pulse charges and 1 hit from death. Cinematic as frick, but my fingers are sore from how long I spent fighting that fricker.
I think this is the best souls-like from a company besides fromsoft so far. I might even say it's better than dark souls 2 and 3. 9/10.
Poor man's Code Vein.
Literally only liked by /lgbt/ crossboarders.
Completely forgettable.
more yaoi of him pls..
It's not Japanese, so it's just gay porn.
more gay porn of him please hes so pretty...
have a nice day. You people make all those who like Lies of P look like homosexuals.

Go back, homosexual.
