warcraft 3
- Any Blizzard RTS (SC2 isn't as good as any of the others and the narrative sucks, but the missions themselves are fun)
- Command and Conquer
- The Company of Heroes 1 SP content is fantastic but I'm not sure if that's under your definition of 'classic'
>SC2 isn't as good as any of the others and the narrative sucks, but the missions themselves are fun
WoL is as good as the rest imo, and story shits the bed only in final missions. HotS and LotV are garbage tho.
I miss the chains raising and lowering the battlenet options, bringing you to your clan channel.
starcraft
Red alert 2 or tiberian sun
wc3 is not classic rts tho
game is mostly focused on micro and maximizing XP gains from good creeping pathing and AI abuse, theres almost no macro besides the early game where you basically put 1 production building with certain amount to peons to wood/gold and forget about it for the rest of the game, in fact you are incentivized to stay below certain supply thresholds to avoid penalties.
>what is game balancing
Aoe2, not even close. I don't even like it much but cannot deny the devotion.
wings of liberty campaign is my favorite
shame its all went to shit after that
SC2 is funny because the gameplay got better with each expansion but the story got so much worse
Idk about better
Hots gives you kerrigan that can solo missions
Lotv gives you an orbital ship that can just snipe objectives
Wings left like proper rts with meaningful choices and a lot of polish
>Warcraft 3
>Red Alert 2
>Starcraft 2
>Company of Heroes 1 (not the expansions)
My faves. Enough variation in missions to keep them interesting.
You posted it
RTT, but still one of the best single player campaigns. Ground Control 1+2 if you like sci Fi.
Single player campaign is not memorable, but single player skirmish is fun as hell. Closest they have ever come to real time Civ.
I always loved the peace period option in multiplayer for this game. Gives you enough time to prepare for war and also means that the game isn't all about scouting, hoping your opponent isn't going for cheesy rush tactics.
Ye, WC3 Reign of Chaos and Frozen Throne are absolutely fantastic single player campaigns.
Also:
Starcraft 1
Age of Mythology
Red Alert 2
Based, was going to post these exact games. Never get tired of replaying those campaigns.
>he doesn't play Undead Dreadlord mass expansion style with 8 crypts
LMAO get a load of this guy!
I like to get a quick SC2 bot match in against 2 or 3 AI opponents. Endless waves crashing against my fortified positions. It's pretty comfy.
They are Billions was pretty neat too, but I have no wish to replay because of those shitty hero unit missions.
Warzone2100
My favorites are
Starcraft I and II
Battle for Middle Earth I and II
Company of Heroes
BFME2.
WC3 comes honorably second. just dont buy the reforged edition obviously.
Before anyone says RA2 Yuris Revenge, I recommend Red Alert 2 to get the ball rolling. It did not kill Europe europe at the start of the game like they did in RA3...
Pikmin
Don't listen to these PC incels
Dark Omen
Im still mad the Grail Knight unit is a temporary addition.
I replayed WC3 and Frozen Throne a couple years ago and they are still fantastic and make WoW's later expansions feel even more absurdly terrible when it comes to writing.
Great RTS singleplayers: Factorio, Dwarf Fortress, World in Conflict, Men of War, Forged Alliance, Warcraft 2
Not great: Command and Conquer (so bizarrely mediocre I don’t even know where to begin), Starcraft 1 (just jaw-droppingly half-baked, the game’s campaign maps don’t even look like anything much less the future, did people really enjoy it back in the day?), WC3 (tedious and also one of the ugliest games ever made).
Oh I forgot to dump on the first Dawn of War, even worse blob a-moving shit game than Command and Conquer.
Pikmin.
Based. Muh "War of Tanks Clash of Magick and Konquest Attack of Honor" doesn't come close to the elegance and perfection of Pikmin. No RTS has music like Forest of Hope because they are soulless Westoid games
does disciples count? just be careful of the newer disciple games theyre not as good
all C&C except for C&C4 which doesnt exist
star craft or starcraft recall
warcraft 3
empire earth
empires dawn of the modern world
starwars empire at war
if you disagree with me YOU CANF UCK OFF YOU STUPIUD c**t
CHEERS THANKS TTKP4
Age of Mythology
Empire Earth is a fricking trip
I wish more games had time travel clusterfricks like the one the Russian campaign ends on
>empire earth
Still no idea how they got away with having Germany defy history and go on the course of victory at the end of their campaign. If they pulled that today, you'd get a an instant Twitter shitstorm about how the devs are nazis and such.
bc devs back in the day had bulls and tbch. EE was played by PC gaymar autists who couldnt give a frick
gays, troons and women have invested gaymen in the past decade, maybe even ~2011 and started to push their moronic opinion which ultimately destroys the creative vision. weak men cowtow to their demands.
Homeworld is the best single player RTS experience of all time.
