that's what creamapi does and it's how you're supposed to play games with billions of DLCs

            Anonymous

Yeah, some games carry their DLC content within their game files for simplicity and you can unlock them in three minutes with creamAPI. Others (like paradox games) need you to download the DLC files and then use creamAPI to unlock them.
No, steam doesn't give a frick for some reason.

      stellaris is boring post midgame

Stellaris literally can't run when things get too heavy. It's a failed game, it literally cannot function in a true end game with all features. It doesn't matter how powerful your computer is, the shit code can't work it out.

EuIV has subscription, pay 3 euro a month for every dlc. Usually I just play for a week or two so it works for my euiv urges

There is a cheap subscription model for EU4 if you can't afford all the DLC.
Worth to try at least for a month.

You are being presented a false dichotomy. The game was wired for them to drip feed DLC to justify a subscription service. good luck trying to follow a strategy guide in 2024 without all the DLC, as it is impossible to tell what works and what doesn't as the paid DLC fundamentally changes the gameplay, strategies and difficulty.

      Ridiculous.

EU4 is heaps of fun, but Paradox are taking the piss.

There are countless youtube guides for every major patch to get the basics.
The joy of these games is to figure out the more complex stuff yourself.
Countless DLCs are also the only reason EU4 managed to get to this point where you can enjoy it without mods.
Also you can get all DLCs except the most recent one for fraction of the price on legit key selling sites.

Stellaris is fricking sterile mainly because it has no anchors to history.
EU4 is the one I enjoyed the most because there's a frickton of way to play each countries, slap on that all the country specific mission trees and flavor event and it's even more reasons to replay the same ones.

This is why EU4 is their best game. It just feels like a completely different experience when playing different countries. Meanwhile every single country in Vicky 3 plays the same. Same goes for CK3. HOI4 too, but at least there you have the national focus trees.

why can't paradox make good naval combat?

Define good naval combat, i think their modern automated implementation is fine

I don't get how it's supposed to work in HoI 4 and as far as I know the meta for naval combat is still to build land-based torpedo planes

          Anonymous

HOI4 is a poopy doo doo game because like all strategy games with lots of military customization it throws balance out of the window, i think the naval combat mechanics per se work fine though, navies have to spot enemy fleets before engaging and they do so in a realistic way, without the player needing to touch a billion things to get things going.

just like irl, why do you think carriers dominated the naval battles?
