I recently "finished" fleshchild. It's sad it was abandoned.
What's flesh child about anon?
Black personmans trying to become human? Kinda similar to BS now that I think about it
Oh cool shit any other games you played?
Currently I've been playing this game called Flesh,Blood & Concrete 101 it's a neat little puzzle/horror game it honestly reminds me of silent hill in a way.
I played that one too, really well done. Though looking at the creator's page and learning that the MC was meant to be a troony kinda soured my taste. But now that I looked at the wiki maybe it was changed? Hopefully. I played it when it originally released
I tried out some older lines like Dhux's scar and GU-L but haven't finished them and I doubt I ever will. It seems old RPGm just isn't for me. Besides those and fleshchild the last one I played was coffin, but it was back when the first chapter was out on itch and I'll probably wait for the full game to be out before I finish it. I want to get into Towelket at some point but right now I don't have much free time.

I also love OFF and Witch's House. Lisa, F&H, Hylics and To The Moon were also pretty good. To The Moon is what got me into RPGMaker games all the years back actually, so I can't help but remember it fondly.
YTTD might reach the same level as OFF/Witch's House, but it has to get released first.

when are we getting the fricking game ? the game first came out 8 years agon. it's gonna be a decade soon and we're STILL in chapter 1/3
Can't be, like 99% of the environment art and sprite work and music wasn't even made by toro. The charm is sucked away when almost all of what you're looking at and listening to was just grabbed from a library somewhere. Sure the sex scenes are bespoke, but they're also the worst part because they've got cringeworthy porn game writing, with few exceptions. I will admit the gameplay's fun and the story's good, but it can't be the BEST with such glaring flaws.
>like 99% of the environment art and sprite work and music wasn't even made by toro
It's only a problem if you make it out to be a problem. People who have never tinkered with RPGM either won't be able to differentiate what's default and what's not or they simply won't care.
And I get the critique of sprites and environment because I've seen them reused numerous times myself but what's wrong with music? Even if you the type of person who goes through royalty-free music libraries in their free time and can recognize them, if a song is good it's good, paying for it doesn't make it sound better.
It's passable, but nothing special--there are quite a few RPGMaker games with unique soundtracks and that adds a lot to them for me. Compare it to OFF, or LISA, or Omori, or Hylics. Much worse, in that regard.
>It's passable, but nothing special
The only 2 game series that beat it in terms of soundtrack for me are Ar tonelico and Nier
>Compare it to OFF, or LISA, or Omori or Hylics.

I only played OFF and LISA.

My point isn't neccessarily that they're better in isolation, just that they add a lot more to the game they're from by being explictly made for it.
>they add a lot more to the game they're from by being explictly made for it.
Then I have to disagree. As long as the song is fitting it makes no difference. They're only superior in a way because they're new, good songs instead of already existing good songs that were only uncovered and given spotlight.
I mean, our point of disagreement is more that I don't think the songs of black souls fit as well as the ones from the other games I named. Those games all have a cohesive and distinct musical aesthetic that fits the world they're in--specific use of vsts and instruments for a certain vibe. Black Souls has no distinct visual or auditory style besides the admittedly cool but sparingly used chickenscratch art, and I think that's the flaw that keeps it out of the top spot for me as far as RPGMaker games go.
I sure hope you're not trying to argue that
>new thing is better than good, old thing
because this only works if it's both new and good, which is much rarer than you think. New, original assets are still assets at the end of the day, the same as old ones and non-original ones. As long as they're used well, it shouldn't matter too much about what was used unless you're an unironic graphicsgay.
fpwp. black souls is shit. the art is garbage and most of it is the default generic art anyways. and that which isn't looks like chicken scratch with no care giving to art fundamentals. the story is also garbage and the gameplay is sub-bar.

I enjoyed one called weird and unfortunate things are happening it's pretty fun plus has a fictional language you can make cipher to decode for more information on the lore and story
hylics is truly one of my faves in general.
afterlife as a concept is amazing.
hylics is very cool game series, but I can't love it as much as I would like to. Since Mason Lindroth forbids any mods or fan games for it. he legit was about to cease or desist someone over FNF mod on Twitter until they said they wouldn't release it. I always thought hylics was just niche so it never got fan content outside of images but turns out the creator is just a dick with the IP.
Since when did creatives start being such fricking pussies? Where's that unfetterred spirit of a starving artist?
I hope it's just children in USA, afraid of any and all litigation. If you actually wanted to make a fan project (and not just ride the coat tails of the original) then you would make and release and maybe even stamp your name on the new thing. With obscurity and distance internet supports, there is no good way to stamp things completely out.
Artists with integrity don't want cave dwellers fricking up their work.

Any anons here working on a game using RPGmaker?
Isn't there a general for that on /vrpg/
I'm working on one but I'm so early in development there's nothing I could really even discuss about it

I agree with this list. I’ll also add on Taima Miko Yuugi and Three Charms series too.
yume 2kki
completely defeats the point of the original since the appeal of yume nikki was that you had zero context as to who kikiyama was or why he made it
it is fun to explore however
if you're autistic sure. also appeals to trannies for that specific reason
the devs should had gatekept or implemented some sort of quality rules. now the game is full of baby's first shitty ms paint worlds, and you're not allowed to say anything bad because you'll hurt their feewings and make them depwessed!!
That I do agree with.
There is a lot of genuinely beautiful spritework in 2kki but also a lot of garbo, and not even the funny kind of garbo.
2kki's more good than bad and its best worlds surpass the original, but the REALLY shitty ones kinda sour the experience.
This might be the lowest point of the whole thing
is this some shitty animation or is this in-game? what the frick?
Yeah, it's in the game unfortunately. I had a look at the author's twitter and he's one of those newgrounds "animators" and he has a fricking lore dump document on his worlds and characters and just augh. It's like the complete antithesis to why Yume Nikki and the good parts of 2kki worked.
yume 2kki in general is the antithesis to yume nikki for the reason i listed prior
(
)
zero idea if this is the same anon i replied to
i guess you could argue that the older worlds with anonymous authors kind of help out but even then they had to submit to it so that ruins the immersion still
Kikiyama being completely anonymous does have its charm, but it's not -the- defining factor of the game, it stands on its own as an effective psychological horror where no one knows what the frick it means. The best parts of 2kki manage to take the horror aspect and take it places the original didn't, there's some really creative ways it manages to get under my skin and I appreciate it for that.
Let me google who that is.
Oh, he made this fricking thing, huh? Yeah these are pretty bad but I think what I dislike about the reef maze is it tries to add clearly defined lore and narrative to a game that doesn't have any and isn't subtle with its horror.
if yume nikki was made by some homosexual on twitter literally nobody would care about it. the reason why nobody knows what it means is because nobody knows who kikiyama is. if you were to have him be some eceleb people could very easily draw parallels based on shit, the art is really good though but it's pretty obvious it was done by multiple people (the aztec shit in particular is the best part of it, all the white maze drawn shit is gay)
>...tries to add clearly defined lore and narrative to a game that doesn't have any and isn't subtle with its horror.
Agreed, dude should stick to making his own webcomic.
This seems infinitely better than whatever than whatever the frick was made by delta or whoever.
It has effort to it, even if it is autistic and doesn't fit in game at all.
this makes the ugly low effort worlds almost forgivable, at least most of them are still trying to be yume 2kki worlds. this is just the author's muh deep lore oc donut steel cumstain shoehorned into the game because they knew there would be guaranteed attention in doing so.
shoved urotsuki into a few frames so they could pretend it is actually related to 2kki and not just wanking their own ocs off too

How difficult is RPG maker to work with if I already have experience with other engines? From a distance it seems fun to work with to prototype and toy with ideas, but it also could be a huge pain in the ass with its less flexible and obtuse logic and working backwards from a real engine could make it even more challenging to learn it.

Gray Garden, hands down. I really liked Mogeko Castle so I went to try DSP's other games. Wadanohara was a borefest but it redeemed itself at the climax. Gray Garden never reaches a climax, it was mentaly draining to play, all the way through. Minutes streched into what felt like hours and I must've fallen into some kind of trance because otherwise I have no idea how I even managed to finish it. The fact that its setting really had potential, yet nothing ever came out of it was the final spit in the face.
>gray garden

Honestly though you should at least say why, cause I can see how some parts of Black Souls can lead to frustration.
>why
gameplay is easy
art is garbage
story isn't the amazing masterpiece it was made out to be here.
at least f&h tried something new and was unique enough to make up for it being frustrating in some parts
I found the gameplay challenging enough when I didn't fully understand it. And when I did understand, a SL1 run brought back the challenge. And I personally love the scratchy art style and the game's excellent use of stock assets. And the story did a good job with the characters. Personally, I seem to feel the opposite from you in every way.
Your link didn't work, anon. Let's see if mine does.
>I found the gameplay challenging enough when I didn't fully understand it.
i beat every enemy first try(including the dragon in bs1)
>the game's excellent use of stock assets.
pic related. i don't know you can name that as a good point kek.
Being able to effectively use stock assets is actually quite the accomplishment. If you want a point of comparison, just play some shitty RPGM games. It's incredible how hard they can make things clash.
most make unique sprites(and that's the standard.) which makes your point moot.
Skill issue
>(including the dragon in bs1)
Congrats you have 2 working braincells. But I'm calling bullshit. You didn't beat chaos dungeon bosses first try unless you are a 100% guideBlack person or by every enemy you only mean common mobs.
>You didn't beat chaos dungeon bosses first try unless you are a 100% guideBlack person or by every enemy you only mean common mobs.
Most CD bosses are jokes, anon. Only one that can really frick you up on a blind run is that samurai butthole chick. DLC 3 bosses are more likely to frick players over, especially if they don't bother reading.
>Most CD bosses are jokes
But they still require you to prepare for them accordingly. I was running a full evasion build that worked 90% of the time but for unavoidables I was forced to change gear. If you don't already know what's waiting for you, you will be countered by something eventually.
>I was running a full evasion build
found the problem
Evasion as a stat falls off hard once you finish DLC 1, there's a reason why DLC 3 just hands you a free +100% Eva chest slot that nobody ever ends up using. The sooner the player ends up realizing how buffs and gear work, the sooner that they'll realize they only need one thing for 99% of the shit in the game,
Hans.
Demons Roots
dark side of red riding hood, it barely qualifies as a game, no good qualities, a CG gallery would have been better
Either Black Souls or OFF.
Idk what the frick you guys see in Black Souls, but it sucked my ass. OFF would have been more enjoyable if the gameplay wasn't 100% braindead. Story wasn't nearly good enough to warrant having to sit through so much filler.
Did you get all the BS1 endings? The game's plot doesn't really kick in until you get those. And it doesn't go into high gear until BS2. The gameplay is also much better in 2.
>endings
Hell no, I played the game for all of 30 minutes before deciding it wasn't worth my time. I gave it a shot because I confused it with F&H. When I actually got around to playing F&H, I was instantly hooked.
Well,
>Idk what the frick you guys see in Black Souls
We mostly like the story. We also acknowledge that, except for the endings, BS1 is bad-to-mediocre. BS2 is the one we actually like. It makes the gameplay much more fun, especially on level 1 runs (the game becomes too easy once you figure out how you can abuse the system) and it expands the story set up in 1's endings.
>I played the game for all of 30 minutes before deciding it wasn't worth my time.
That hardly qualifies as playing at all.
is right about BS1 though, BS2 is the one that blew up here for a reason, it's just that BS1 is needed for plot reasons.
i agree with the other guy, the defense of "it gets good at the ending" is an unbelievably bad way to recommend a game, and even though 30 min is a little low for playtime it's also not a bad amount of time to expect a game to show it's mechanics and basic story beats
>BS1 is needed for plot reasons
could he instead read a plot synopsis of 1 if playing it sucks?
yeah, having played both you can skip bs1, 90% of the plot of bs2 has nothing to do with it.
>90% of the plot of bs2 has nothing to do with it
90% is a gross overestimation, and the parts of BS2 that do rely on BS1's plot also tend to be some of the most important parts of BS2's plot.
okay, i haven't played the dlcs for bs2, but from what i've played it's mainly the significance of red hood and leaf that'd be confusing, right? i feel like you can figure out their and grimm's history from context pretty easily--leaf was a good who used to be powerful and have control, red is an ally from another life, etc. figuring this stuff out yourself really wouldn't detract that much, i think.
Both Red and Mary are critical for BS2's plot and are the most important things you'd get from playing BS1, but TCO itself is also a central player in the series. Along with Mary and Red, BS1 also introduces us to the events of the tea party and to TCO/the "original" Alice from the tea party via Wonderland/C/D that's so important to BS2's overall plot. In case you forgot, or just didn't realize it while playing, 01 is who we know as Prickett in BS2, and she was the part of TCO that played the role of Alice during the tea party. I'd also say that without doing BS1 C, scenes like the Hotel will fall flat for the player.
Speaking about the DLCs specifically, DLC 3 also has Lindamea make a return from BS1, though that's less about BS2's plot and more about establishing future plot.
i mean, yeah, that lore tidbit about the original alice is interesting, but she's barely in bs1 in the first place--and most people won't even realize the prickett thing. the poseidon hotel scene would fall flat, but it's also like this hidden optional thing that some players won't even find. you do get something out of having played bs1 for sure, but its not worth forcing yourself through a mediocre to bad game for
>you do get something out of having played bs1 for sure, but its not worth forcing yourself through a mediocre to bad game for
If all someone cares about is the very broad strokes of the plot, you can make an argument that BS1 is unnecessary. However, BS1 establishes a lot of important concepts that BS2 expands upon, and characters like Red and Mary practically require player knowledge of them from BS1 to really understand what they're doing and why they're doing it, shit like endings F/G/H aren't going to make much sense or have as much of an impact because you have zero existing attachment to either Red or Mary. TCO is more just a bonus like you said, but it's still a plot relevant bonus. BS in general is more than just the required story beats, there's a frickton of shit you'll only learn about plotwise and lorewise if you go off the required path, and those hidden optional things you talk about are the main way BS tells that shit to the player. The more you want to get invested into the plot of the series, the more important BS1 becomes for your understanding of it.
Anon, every time you find traces of one of your companions, fight alongsite summons, meet the people from the first game (especially the black trial and Victoria), go to a location connected with the previous games, you will have no idea who they are, where you are and what's the significance of them being there. Places like tne train station should feel like an oasis of familiarity in an alien world, going to that cave and hears the executioner's theme play should twist your guts and hearing about Lindamea, get you hyped for the future. Plot isn't the only thing you're missing
i won't deny any of this, i just disagree about its importance--especially because i think you could just as easily get the full story by playing 1 after 2, if 2 left you curious. the emotional impact of 2 is intact without the context of 1, the history of the characters from 1 is just a bonus.
> the emotional impact of 2 is intact without the context of 1
It has only half or less of the emotional impact. It still might make you sad just because its sad but there's no emotional baggage attached it. Also BS isn't just the main plot, actually often its not even in the center of the story and when people judge a game they don't separate it by what's core and what's a "bonus", the quality of something is the quality of it overall, which is undoubtedly diminished by not playing the first game.
go to >>>/vg/ and make a fricking general at this point. BSshitters are some of the worst in existence because entire threads get clogged up with walls of spoilers for absolutely no goddamn reason while the rest talk about how much they want to coom to alice in wonderland.

>/hgg2d/ is a cesspool
Correct.
>and from what little interaction I had with them they're against spoiler culture.
I distinctly remember a different experience back when Black Souls 2 was the new (and translated) thing there.
God forbid people talk about games on Ganker.
>for absolutely no goddamn reason
It's to mog on morons incapable of writing more than 2 sentences per post.
>the defense of "it gets good at the ending" is an unbelievably bad way to recommend a game
Luckily I'm not really trying to recommend the game. I like the series, but I'm not going to pretend it doesn't have flaws, especially BS1.
>and even though 30 min is a little low for playtime it's also not a bad amount of time to expect a game to show it's mechanics and basic story beats
It's very low for play time. As far as basic story beats goes, what BS1 shows at the start is what most of BS1 will follow, so in this respect it's not an incorrect assumption. "Most" is the key word here though, and while you get some hints over the course of the game, the "real" plot of the game only really starts hitting in the endings and the lead in to those endings, and it's these things that set the groundwork for BS2.
>could he instead read a plot synopsis of 1 if playing it sucks?
If someone fricks off after 30 minutes, they just aren't going to have the attention span for BS2, plot synopsis or not.
It's the unfortunate truth. It's better than denying reality and claiming that BS1 is just as good, when it frankly isn't.
BS2 is a great game, but BS1 doesn't make a good first impression. It does have some positive sides, like it being hugely nonlinear and having a lot of reactivity (very rare in JRPGs) but its game balance and writing (pre-ending) leave a lot to be desired.
>read a plot synopsis
No. One of the things that makes BS as a series good is how it ties together the story and interactivity/gameplay. Actually experiencing BS1 is necessary for a multitude of reasons:
>BS1 has you travel with a party and has a central hub with NPCs
>BS2 has you travel alone and its central hub is bereft of life
>BS1's level design is structured
>BS2's level design feels very convoluted
>BS1 is full of movement, of characters moving from place to place, you have to complete their quests to get to know them
>BS2 is very static, you can just pay souls and get to their sex scenes
>BS1 uses rather bright colour palette
>BS2 is practically a horror game
All of these tie directly into the series' plot and themes. Plus all the little references strewn around BS1 end up being important plot points. And BS1 is crucial for establishing emotional connection to both the main character and the others.
This goes into spoiler territory, but BS1's apparent poor writing and lack of originality is fully intentional and is a plot point. The main villain is named fricking Mary Sue, after all. And to top it off she's called out for being a hack writer by other characters.
>could he instead read a plot synopsis of 1
Go watch a fricking movie or something instead of playing games if this is the kind of mindset you have. The player has to experience the consequences of his actions firsthand for them to have any real impact on you. Reading about what happened would just devoid it of emotion.
>Hell no, I played the game for all of 30 minutes before deciding it wasn't worth my time.
it wasn't worth your time
>t. finished both games and kept being told "it gets good X hours later! keep playing."
Well, what exactly didn't you like about it?
>the same question 3rd~4th time in this thread.
same as everyone else anon itt. reread the thread i ""mostly"" agree with them
I'm just going to assume it boils down to three things then, gameplay, story, and art. The first aspect is pretty weak for BS, though I will always say it's better to have easy and fast gameplay than slow and tedious gameplay if neither end up being good. Art is an acquired taste stylistically, though objectively speaking the anatomy's somewhat lacking. Story though, I think that's actually pretty fricking good.
>I'm just going to assume it boils down to three things then, gameplay, story, and art.
pretty much. although to be fair, I'll list some of the things i did like, like the moving in cutscenes bit(with the merchant daughter in bs1. the one that gets killed by a snake if i remember correctly) and the actual art(not the stock asset spam) is good(sometimes)
>it's better to have easy and fast gameplay than slow and tedious gameplay
eh. it's a bit tedious to spam the invisibility spell to avoid enemies in bs2 especially low level enemies that you can one shot. the invisibility spell not removing collision is also annoying since you have to dash around enemies(that you can one shot for the nth time) so i wouldn't call it "fast" it is easy tho, and no enemy was too frustrating.
>it's a bit tedious to spam the invisibility spell to avoid enemies in bs2 especially low level enemies that you can one shot.
Yeah, I'd love to have an option to autocast that shit, luckily you can make it easier to get to by pressing Shift on it and transferring it to the other menu. though it's a bandaid solution.
>so i wouldn't call it "fast"
As far as the actual combat goes, BS is really quick. You're pretty much never stuck waiting on long ass animations to play out either from you or the enemies, and you can get out of most fights in a snap. The longest part is the menuing for your skills/items, and even then it only starts to become a problem when minmaxing in boss fights. Even then most of the time it's unnecessary to go all out like that since most things end up dying pretty quickly.
How about you stop evading and answer a simple question that can't be easily guessed by just skimming through a let's play on youtube, to give yourself some validity?
Whose route did you take in Winterbell?
>t. finished both games and kept being told "it gets good X hours later! keep playing."
There are four well-defined points where the game gets better:
>BS1 ending C - the moment where the story kicks in for the first time
>the start of BS2 - the moment where the combat system, the artstyle and environment design improves
>BS2 ending G - the moment where the story of BS2 is revealed
>the start of DLC3 - the moment where enemy design is improved and we start getting gimmick bosses
>BS2 ending G - the moment where the story of BS2 is revealed
You should have a pretty solid grasp of the plot well before G (especially with B and Queensland), though I get what you mean.
Ending G is the moment when anagnorisis happens. Thanks to ending B you know what is happening, thanks to the flames and Queensland you know why it's happening, but only in ending G do you get the final piece of the puzzle that lets you connect the two.
>Idk what the frick you guys see in Black Souls, but it sucked my ass
I like the characters, the gameplay, and the overall story. It's not that complicated.
I tried to get into Black Souls but after several hours I paused the game once I got done with the frog. I'm aware that I'm somewhere near the later part of the game, and the game isn't too bad but I know it won't be the last thing, because I also have to get every ending through NG+. This doesn't take very long but I'm not used to alternate endings being a requirement. Then it's like, "use a guide for this" and "don't use a guide for that". I'm told 2 is a lot better, and I believe that, but it only makes 1 seem like more of a chore. It's something I want to enjoy, I just don't know if I will do everything in 1, and I won't skip to 2 because that's stupid. I enjoy the edgy shit and the weird artystyle, I'll say that.
If you just want to beat the game, BS1 should have "guide.txt" in its files, and BS2 should have "hints.txt", both of which should spell out their ending requirements in them. You shouldn't need any external resources with those, at worst you'll just need to do a quick NG+. BS1 is ultimately a bit of a chore, but you really should see C+D from it before moving on to BS2 at least.
The guide parts are just for certain hidden scenarios that are hard to find, which dont affect the endings, iirc it was
>Ending A, finish the game normally with all the heroines(only hard if you dont know about Miranda)
>Ending B finish the game normally
>Ending C, get every book, which the game itself will tell you to do
>Ending D, go into that cave and finish the questline you get there.
Everything but ending A is obtained through normal progression. Endings A and B are more flavour, while C and D are where the real shit happens.
my homie
Black Souls is definitely very overrated, the game downright requires a guide for several things. Especially in BS2.
The gameplay in both BS1 and 2 is also horrifically easy past a certain point, the only challenge is in DLC3’s fights since they’re all gimmick bosses where you need certain equipment equipped before each fight or else you just lose.
>the game downright requires a guide for several things.
The only thing that can seriously be argued for is entering the reverse route for BS2, and even then you can still figure it out on your own if you actually pay attention.
>The gameplay in both BS1 and 2 is also horrifically easy past a certain point
More just easy in general if you're even remotely experienced with RPGs. BS1 breaks as soon as you beat the tutorial and breaks more later on, while BS2 takes a bit longer to break but ends up breaking even harder than BS1 does.
>the only challenge is in DLC3’s fights since they’re all gimmick bosses where you need certain equipment equipped before each fight or else you just lose.
The only fight you'll probably outright lose on is Lorde, since his gimmick will probably catch you completely off guard. Everything else just needs weapons which can be swapped freely in battle, if you're losing those fights it's more likely that you just have a shit build and the game's rocking you for it.
Definitely Mongol. I'm sorry Mongoldev but your game is unplayable.
Parade. A Yume Nikki fangame with ugly and boring maps.
moron here. Is there a way to make rpgmaker games bigger than this moronic small window without stretching it? Like resolution scaling?

how to reccomend black souls to people not from this site
I genuinly love the combat and its literally peak rpgmaker. just the
>talk
>rape
>how to reccomend black souls to people not from this site
You don't. We already have too much of them.
BS is already on the verge blowing up. Even more people making sparks are the last thing we need.
Ill continue to be the only one shilling and sharing about The Last Sovereign, last thing I did was Janine's sidequest which introduced cool portraits to the game and another way to decorate the base, Im on way to do all the final sidequests before the end of the game. Maybe I should start the game all over again and not cheat like a motherfricker because im too much of a pussy to see the consequences of my own actions.
Whatever happened to rpgmaker generals?
they still exist sometimes on /vrpg/
/indie/
Helen's Mysterious Castle is VIPRPG kino, it's a great short little game.
I've had Middens and Gingiva on my drive for years but haven't played them for whatever reason
I should change that soon
>made by a pedophile
automatically based
Wait what?
Lisa the Undone
Its been so fricking fun so far bros
Fairy Tale of Forgotten Ruins
It's a real honest true-blue adventure. Danger, mystery, destiny.
Ranking of MC's origins: wizard > cleric > rogue > knight
>rogue origin not ranked as the best
What makes you say that? For me, it has the most kino events of the 4, its unique dungeon is my favorite, and it's probably the strongest (and most fun thanks to dual wielding) gameplay-wise.
it's because i'm a wizardgay, and that route really appeals to the fantasy: your pursuit of knowledge results in reaching mysteries of the heavens, with a very tangible reward to back it up
but i am somewhat conflicted on the mentor's role, the fact that it's the only route where sage dies feels wrong, but he pulls a great trick while doing so, it's a very cathartic way to resolve the story
i also think rivalry with syphon is implented in a great way, since you really have no place for 2 wizards in 3-man party, your composition will naturally shun syphon in favour of your own magic build
mechanically speaking, i suppose wizards are squishy at the start (as they should be), but you get magic-aligned stone early on and then you are free to cast aoes and triage with no restraint
>unique dungeon
What?
The mansion infiltration part. Didn't know what else to call it
Really?I remember I can do that part using cleric character
unironically, barkley shut up and jam
Barkley, Shut Up and Jam was fricking amazing but it wasn't RPG Maker.
>I_am_ready_for_your_rage.png
>phonenhomosexual
demon king chronicle is my personal favorite, think it was made by wolf rpg editor though
nevermind, it was rpgmaker
>pcBlack person
Black Souls 2 is my favorite one, though I don't think I can call it the best in good faith.
>Also talk about rpgmaker games you've been playin anons
Some anon was shilling Noel the Mortal Fate some time back, finally got around to playing it the other day and for some reason I get the distinct feeling that the anon shilling it was a girl (female). Probably a combination of how the plot has played out so far combined with the light puzzle elements, that shit is usually crack for them.
You guys are all right. Start with Darkness I or Wind I.
i need to finish hat world & unicorn overlord first. but this will go in the backlog I'll get to it at some point
OFF's music and designs were pretty cool but the gameplay and especially the plot sucked ass. The moronic dialogue mistranslation at the very end of the game didn't help either.
>gameplay
fair. it's basically non existent and inoffensive.
>story
how come ? for it's time it was amazing.
>But I'm calling bullshit.
tell me when it picks up.
>tell me when it picks up.
What was the final chaos dungeon boss' gimmick, then?
You're shitting on BS's gameplay and story but defending OFF's? No offense to OFF but how fricking moronic are you?
Both are dogshit and use only the default battle systems of their respective makers, which automatically disqualifies them from being "great" games.
>BS
>default combat
It's piss easy, but I'm pretty sure it's not default RPG maker.
then you need to play more VX/Ace games to educate yourself.
Name some VX/Ace games that use Charge Time Battle system instead of simple turn based then.
dumping in random yanfly plugins doesn't count as developing a game.
Whatever you say, dumbass.
>Gets btfoed
>Moves goalpost
Tale as old as time.
I didn't get BTFO'd because I don't play slop like Cucked Souls. But this battle screen is literally indistinguishable from any other standard RPG Maker VX/Ace game. And if it looks like slop and tastes like slop, then slop it is.
Looks like you need to play more VX/Ace games to educate yourself.
We already knew you didn't play it, no need to spell it out
anon you're arguing with bsgays. they don't play anything else
Don't you ever get tired of being wrong?
I'm still waiting for examples of a rpgm games with the same charge battle system as BS. It's supposedly default, so it shouldn't be hard to find them.
who the frick are you quoting
You're genuinely braindead.
you're quoting multiple anons moron
>you're arguing with bsgays. they don't play anything else
>quotes bsgays talking about the games they've played
I'm glad you're so dumb there's a non 0 chance you might forget how to breathe one day.
who the frick are you quoting Black person ???
>yanfly
>japanese developer
Pick one
here's one
>slopket
Alright, I didn't know about this one. Which part is it? I only started playing one more time but I remember the battles in that game being the same as in Wadanohara.
it's the remake of 3, which deviates quite a lot
though looking again it's MV instead, do I messed up since that post asked for VX
>You're shitting on BS's gameplay and story
yes.
>but defending OFF's?
only the story. i already said the gameplay is shit you ape. learn to read
So how is OFF's story better than BS's? Are you going to backpedal now and say it was only amazing for its time?
>backpedal now and say it was only amazing for its time?
how is that backpedaling if i already said that the story was good for it's time ? or have you just speed read through that too ?
Ruina my beloved
wheres the remake you damn chinese
It's vaporware. They paid for a fricking ad during RIJSummer2023 and it's still nowhere close to coming out.
Face it - the only way to play Ruina is the RPG Maker 2000 one.
Shame that it's still extremely janky and lots of translation shit/item descriptions/other information is either wrong or flat out missing, but what can you do.
recently been playing felvidek. it's based in medieval europe. very charming overall. it's obviously inspired by hylics in some aspects but does its own thing for the most part
I feel like this is the post I'd make if I was the dev trying to shill my game. Not saying you are, but if I were the dev I'd post this.
sorry. i don't know how to say positive things about a game without sounding like a shill. i'll give some criticisms too then.
the combat is dogshit since you only have two party members and every other combat encounter is 3+ enemies, often with one unit that stuns you every other turn. the rest of the enemies are health sponges.
the use-items-to-level-up system annoys me since i hoard items.
there's lots of typos and untranslated dialogue.
there's a more than a few 'quests' in the game that just involve walking back and forth between screens to relay information between npcs / get a cutscene.
weirdly enough i want to play it more after reading this
>bad translation
I'm fixing it for the dev, though it'll take a bit of time since I'm busy with uni exams and work at the moment.
best protagonist
Technically not RPGmaker but this.

It's trash, you only like it for a reason
Sounds good to me.
All cultists deserve a rope
Waiting for Dream Channel Zero to release
I like it but ye olde english kinda wears me out
>ye olde english kinda wears me out
lmao
Don't worry, anon. It'll at least be correctly conjugated Early Modern English when I'm done helping the dev with it.
I'm also leaning more toward just modern English for lines that don't sound good in ye olde.
So you ARE a fricking shill.
Good to know, blocking all posts containing any image of that game I see, as well as your shitcode.
These were my first posts ITT
.
I'm not on the dev team, just helping the dev with his project, don't care if you buy, pirate or ignore.
Trip is there cause I work on different projects and it's easier to filter for anons having a melty and confirm 'dentity when answering questions.
I really liked endroll, even if it was depressing as frick. tfw the guilt drug you've been developing works but the patient feel sl guilty that he kills himself
I quite liked this as well, especially that part near the end where you pick one of the victims to "kill" the MC.
having kantera do it is incredibly poetic. I think its also interesting how unsure russel is of gardenia's character, wether she's a sweet girl or some psycho and the dream reflects that with the dark spells and short personality shifts she can get. In the end he doesn't actually know any of these people, the real ones are long dead and the dream ones are just figments of his imagination made to guilt him over all that murdering he did.[/spoiled]
Ending is shit because it takes a huge tone of his own responsibility on his parents. And Cowboy girl doesn't make sense because of that. It really tries to give Russell more sympathy at the last moments.
purgo box
Mongol.
I love my wife.
>game has less than 30 reviews on steam since 2017
>if I recommend it people will think I'm the developer
praise be to the shills!
Where do graphics for RPGmaker games come from? Do I have to draw to be able to make a game?
>Where do graphics for RPGmaker games come from?
Asset files.
>Do I have to draw to be able to make a game?
Premade assets exist for this reason. Some people have autism fits over them though, which I can't completely blame them for since they're usually associated with low quality trash, even if the assets themselves are fine.
i need someone to recommend me something like final fantasy v but not mgq parafox already played that one its exactly what i want but i need more now
Not RPGM, but Bravely Default and Crystal Project.
this is the rpgmaker thread moron
