What's the best slow-medium paced rts game that's not intensive to run from the past 10 years?
I want my C&C or Settlers type fix.

I like Stronghold
The definitive edition? I'm looking for something new, I haven't played anything but old stuff for a few years
Sorry I didn't read that part
>"slow-medium paced rts game"
>Posts aoe2
What did he mean by this?
What do you? That shit isn't Star Craft. Build a couple of houses, build a wall, I won't build more than 3 units for the first 10 minutes. Never played online in 20 years though
>Play like a dumbass in a mode where there's no one to punish you for it
>"slow-medium paced rts game"
I guess I'd have to say the AoE2 Scenario Editor is the "game" you're looking for.
I play my rts like a city builder and will not apologise for it.
No, you'll just get socked if you ever step outside your comfort zone. It's utter cowardice and you know it. The game doesn't even have any of the systems to play like a city builder. Just banging multivitamin bottles together and imagining you're fighting off Mongols.
>looks great
>resource gathering
>ability to turtle
That's all I want buddy and that's exactly what I've got, you have fun in your own way. I've played like this for 30 years.
Just play anything with an engine, then.
This thread didn't need to exist.
>I've played like this for 30 years.
You haven't once played. This thread needs to die.
Quit being such a sweatlord, anon.
>Nooo, he isn't playing it properly!!!
Who fricking cares, frick me
I can't imagine how you deal with it when you find out I don't play your favourite rpg or fps
>I can't imagine how you deal with it when you find out I don't play your favourite rpg or fps
This is Ganker, it's well known fact that there's no good games at all, aside from some obscure MS DoS game that came out 30+ years ago.
>RTS games are meant for multiplayer
Found the resident sperg. When AoE2 came out, most people didn't have access to a stable enough Internet - or at all - to play multiplayer.
Doesn't matter. AoE2 is, ultimately, designed and balanced as a multiplayer, PvP game.
Riiighttt... that's why they added those 20 campaigns over the years, for multiplayer.
To attract the SP crowd and get them to fund the game.
In other words, they add single player content. Because it's a single player centric game. Got ya.
>To attract the SP crowd and get them to fund the game.
>guys they just added these features to get people to buy the game
Why do you think that games are made?
To take up mental space and become classics people study for centuries.
Almost but not quite
I don't blame him for avoiding multiplayer if he doesn't want to engage with obnoxious morons like you. Why are you seething about something so pointless?
And don't pretend you aren't mad after making 4 posts to shit on him for his choice.
Anon, seeing some countless morons come on and show off their decades-old diaper is disgusting. People taking pride in their own reluctance to engage with others or play the game they've spent literal decades on.
/vst/ is filled with these types. It's basically nothing but those kinds there, on a board that's supposed to be about strategy games, and the devs know.
You can't get MP balance in EU4, because that would "break" SP WC runs. You can't talk about the types of factions that appear in these games, because no one understands any of the games on a deeper level than, "I chose the red faction so I'll make the red units". They don't see it as a set of options, bound together. It's just a 3-step guide to get your ass kicked, and since losing feels bad, they hide away in campaigns, then make generals about the game they're too scared to play.
I hate people who show off their own weaknesses like they expect to be praised. I hate them.
You'll be absolutely thrilled to hear when Gran Turismo went online focused in Sport I didn't even consider trying it and sold my ps4.
You sound like such a fricking virgin
SP>MP in playerbase numbers, that's not controversial.
Not him but I like to play AoE2 against the AI alone or with a friend in different scenarios and map modes with 500 pop. I don’t play play a strategy game about IRL civilizations just to construct 3 buildings in arabia, rush with the current meta unit and have the game end in 5 minutes.
>just to construct 3 buildings in arabia, rush with the current meta unit and have the game end in 5 minutes.
Congratulations, anon. You didn't even make it to the castle age. The game doesn't end that quickly if either side knows how to defend and recover with extra TCs.
I was exaggerating, I know how MP works, I just don’t like it and don’t want to engage with the community.
I agreee. Trying to play multiplayer aoe2 was soulsucking. Knights and merchants on the other hand... Very slow game, no way to speed it up; Not much depth, at all; Good for a couple of house. Very enjoyable.
moronic teenager.
You don't want an RTS. You want a sandbox city builder with no failstate.
No I don't, I want to constantly be under pressure. How do you think I eventually win? I build an army. Do you throughout an absolute tantrum when people play Civ single player and win via space race?
>I want to constantly be under pressure
>but I don't want to fight a player smart enough to realise I'm turtleing hard and harvests the entire map's resources to siege me
kek
I don't understand at all. You're making shit up like you can never build an outpost, never step outside the bounds of your base, to win an argument that literally cannot be won because your argument is that I DON'T have fun turtling. What is even going on?
>I don't understand at all
well duh, you are playing RTS by turtling all day and claim that you wanna be constantly under pressure. you haven't understood a single thing, anon. might be low IQ autism on your part.
>well duh, you are playing RTS by turtling all day and claim that you wanna be constantly under pressure
you can be under pressure when you get attacked constantly while turtling? you realize pressure can be on you while being defensive? might be low IQ autism on your part.
you clearly want to play Anno, not RTS.
>What's the best slow-medium paced rts game that's not intensive to run from the past 10 years?
There isn't much options for that "past 10 years" for you unless you want to play Age of Empires 4 or any of the definitive editions.
With that said, if you haven't played it, I strongly recommend Age of Mythology. It's really good.
Maybe one of the Anno games? Anno 1800 or Anno 1404 if you don't mind it a little bit older.
Manor lor-
Mm I don’t know
rimworld? its kind of an rts
Based on what you've mentioned OP maybe try some city builders? There's smaller scale stuff like Banished you might enjoy.
How about automation? Factorio is insanely well optimised and will sate a building and turtling urge.
I do like select city builders, I find the more stylised visuals of rts more appealing, plus the violent threat, but factorio might be a decent shout
Try Against the Storm
I'd suggest Skylords Reborn, but it seems like you want to build cities and shit so it might not fit.
supreme commander forged alliance, sometimes i play through the campaigns when im bored
?t=3109
War for the Overworld
Easy Northgard recommendation.
Anno 1404
I've lost entire days to this game.
C&C Remastered with the community map pack that has 100's of maps.
Settlers 6 is peak comfy, even if its mechanics are not especially deep.
Soon from the creator of Settlers:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/2155180/Pioneers_of_Pagonia/
Looks almost perfect
Ooh, looks good.
Settlers is a comfy as frick game.
>early access
cool, i'll make a note to check on this in 5 years
Ah shit, GOG has a sale.
settlers 3
this thread is a perfect display of exactly why RTS is a dead genre
Because compgays ruin literally everything they touch?
the thumbnail of this thread looked like pizza toppings
Imagine being at computers.
play age of empires 3 treaty games
So you want a slower-paced RTS game where you don't get rushed but still are under pressure?
Play this then since it's an anti-asiaticclick RTS
A single "match" can take you many hours and for the most part you're in control of the pace of the game since the AI opponent reacts and adapts to your actions. If you try to rush in this game you'll just find yourself swatted like a fly by a huge fleet once the AI gets tired of your wienery ass. Also genuinely the best RTS ever for playing against AI, it makes for an actually cunning and interesting opponent especially on high levels and when you give it more "toys" to play with
Alternatively Sins of The Solar Empire and play TEC, since they're built for turtling and being tanky
Sins of Solar Empire is on sale right now, and it's the 4X/RTS game I keep going back to still. Too bad SOASE2 is an EGS exclusive for the time being.
Desert of Karak
Which RTS of this type was the one that had piracy protection that made it so that your blacksmithes produced pigs instead of iron, making it impossible to develop past a point because you had no means of obtaining iron? Looking back on it I guess it was a joke about pig iron, but I'm pretty sure the game was originally German.
The Nations, Pharaoh, Emperor: Rise of the Middle Kingdom and Starsector
Rise of the Nations was more fun than AOE
>Total Annihilation

Homosexuality is a sin, anons.
ayo boomers shit and pissed themselves over this fire gameplay frfr
lmaoooooooooo
rts kinda mid
play good games like valorant fr
Frostpunk was pretty good.
It does play more like a puzzle game than a strategy/tactics game and once you "figure it out" there isn't much reason to play again. If you can win it once you can win it again and again.
But it is fun to figure out.
You ever play Tanktics, OP? It's technically an RTS
Haegemonia : Legions of Iron
The explosions looked so incredible in this one, watching your motership blow up piece by piece
Love how you can build giant orbital canons around your planets to protect them
Love sending spies to steal the enemy's researchs
Love watching your ships being built in orbit little by little, or destroying the enmey shipyards as they work
Cossacks3
Dawn of War DC (with camera mod)
BFME1/2
AoE2 DE, AoE3 DE, AoE4
Wait for the Age of Mythology remake
Stronghold/crusaders (frick the remakes)
SC remake, SC2 (campaign is pretty chill)
WC3 (reforged with quenching mod actually looks nice)
