I didn't care for the combat, none of the characters seemed cool, and the extra gimmick mechanics weren't worth it for me. I did only play through the first boss, though, so maybe it gets better, unlike Zestiria.
Well said. I generally end up using the e-girls as mains, with notable exceptions like Graces, because Pascal is just so much fun.

Me too usually the e-girls have also the best gameplay. Usually they are good casters (i had so much fun with elise) or in the case of presea is just axe go brrrrr and its stupidly fun.
There arent any e-girls in Arise. __Edna didnt count
I don't consider Arise a tales. And i am still mad.

Elize is downright broken when you get some skills. In the coliseum, I could beat the enemies in a fraction of the time compared to others. >teepo switching boost skill >negative gate >negative gate >negative gate
So much fun. I also love the fact that she wields both light and dark elements, just like Anise does.

Having the little girl nuke everything while the others just punch nothing is awesome. I loved tales way more than ff or other jrpgs cause you can use whatever the hell you want and every character has always different moves and gimmicks from the others.

Yeah, that's something that was perfected in Graces and beyond - everyone had a decent skill set to cover different styles of combat.
Games like Symphonia had their 'wtf lol' arte sets like Raine's - if you played as her (in co-op for example) you barely had anything to work with.
I played all the games in co-op with my bro. Phantasia was a bit of a slog at first (he used Cless, I had to make do with Mint and Klarth) until Arche joined. Then, once Chester and Suzu joined it was glorious.
>still has the same audio issues from Symphonia Chronicles from several years ago >switch version is somehow even worse, with terrible performance >updated textures are just AI-upscaled ones >that weird fricking cut to complete darkness in menus and skits >still no option to use the beautiful GC font
Remastered should be memory-holed to the darkest abyss. It is a complete disgrace to Symphonia.
I dunno why they never bothered. Then again, I've gotten so used to playing modded DotNW that I can never go back to playing vanilla, so I'm not really complaining.
As much as I give Vesperia shit for its story, it's at least better than whatever the frick Graces had. Future Arc gave it some redemption, but what a travesty the main story was.

Vesperia is fricking insufferable because of Karol alone. Worst child Tales character ever. I also hate how long it takes for the combat to get "fun". I've really soured on Vesperia the past few years. If Xillia didn't have the shit N64 looking field areas it would be the better game hands down. I still prefer Xillia because Jude is fun as frick to play as.

I found Karol to be one of the biggest draws in Vesperia, and one of the few positive memories I have of the game. He's a child character done well. He pretends to be tougher than he actually is; he idolizes people he really looks up; and he's a bit of a brat. Then when push comes to shove and everyone's backs are to the wall, Karol steps up and fricking saves the day, proving that he can stand as his own man and that others can rely on him. Better yet, he doesn't get a massive ego trip just because of it.
Is this the "Dishonored punishes you by killing guards" of Tales threads? At no point did the they blame Luke for Akzeriuth being destroyed. They all knew and understood that he was manipulated by Van. The actual issue they had with Luke was that he wouldn't take responsibility for what happened. Yes, Van manipulated him, but Luke was still a part of the fiasco. However, he completely blames Van and keeps whining about how it isn't his fault. He accepts none of the blame, not even as the gun being wielded. They've watched him be an immature butthole for weeks by that point, and now he's played a part in the muder of TEN THOUSAND PEOPLE. That's four zeroes. Had he been completely responsible and kind up to that point, they might have been more willing to accept his victim mindset.
Look at Anise later on. Not only is she younger and has a more fricked-up situation with her zealot parents, she fully aware of her choices and wasn't just screaming "it's not my fault! it's not my fault!". The fact she had a more mature response to the whole thing than Luke did, the fact she accepted what she did and didn't try to look for excuses, made it easier to forgive her. She owned up to her actions right away and knew why she was doing what she was doing. Luke just blindly followed Van and then didn't try to carry any of the weight of what happened on his shoulders.
Abyss is one of the few games out there that doesn't make its party members like each other just 'cause. They all have baggage, and they all have to deal with it. Luke isn't special, and he's not given special treatment. He has to learn that for himself, first by over-correcting and almost having a death wish, then finally accepting that he wants to live. It's good, and people clinging to "muh Guy and Tear and Jade were meanies :(" make the game a disservice.
>man is immature >put up with him >man reacts immaturely to a major event >"I was stupid for starting to think you had some good in you."
That one crosses the line.
Also, I'm not saying it's not justified. I'm saying it's difficult to play through, because it feels unpleasant.
No one wants to play a game about insufferable homosexuals being insufferable homosexuals for 50 hours. If I wanted that I'd just buy a ticket to SF or LA and stand in the streets for 50 hours.
>Luke is seven years old >He's spent his whole life incredibly sheltered with one (1) person who makes him feel valued >that one person uses and betrays him to do something completely horrific >he realistically eacts like a mortified child >his whole party chooses this event to be the "last straw" in tolerating him, even his supposed "best friend" who's seen how he grew up and should understand his mentality better than anyone
Nah, Luke's party is full of selfish shitheads. Vicious understands and deals with Luke in a cancelled spin-off mobage better than Luke's whole party combined in ToA.
>Luke is seven years old
Neither the game nor the writers treat him as if that's the case. He's been the Luke we know for 7 years but he didn't start as a baby, he said he had no memories and had to learn how to use silverware again and shit but he didn't have to grow back into an adult from infant-sized. He wouldn't have known about the concept of money had he been 7 or 77, that has nothing to do with his age and everything to do with his home; basic morality like what happened in Akzeriuth is something he could've easily comprehended had he listened to any of the good people in the manor at all in all his years, like Guy or Pere or even his mom. He was FONON'd into existence as a suitable clone of a 10yo so a lot of his development is baked in, even if he doesn't know how to access it yet. The difference between Luke and a baby is pretty vast, neurologically speaking. The psychology and steps to integrate someone like him would be very different from how an actual normal child grows up from a baby, even if the broad strokes (learn to talk, learn to relate to others) are similar. Hell this happens again with with Ion/Florian and the OG butthole Ion; and they had even less time to develop. The best way to think of him is as a 17 year old who had to relearn all the basics of being a functional person in society, but not all the basics of being a human being from the ground up. (Or at the very least, how to form words or grow new neurological tissue in the way an actual baby does). It's either this or you genuinely think the developers intended Tear to date a seven year old kid.
I mean you can think of him as an actual child if you really want to, but the writing of the game doesn't support that interpretation.
>He's been the Luke we know for 7 years but he didn't start as a baby, he said he had no memories and had to learn how to use silverware again and shit but he didn't have to grow back into an adult from infant-sized
Actually a few characters do start treating him more like a child after they learn the truth, and will remind the player and Luke that in reality Luke is still a child. Those characters are Guy, Emperor Peony, Duke Fabre ironically enough, that old Malkuth general, and sometimes Natalia.
Luke had no information baked, he was literally mentally a baby when he was created, to the point where he literally had to learn how to walk and talk. Luke was born in a 10 year old's body but with he mind of an infant.
>>his whole party chooses this event to be the "last straw" in tolerating him
They don't need to tolerate him, it's not their problem. The party aren't Luke's babysitters. They needed to deal with the apocalyptic shit Van was doing, and if Luke wasn't going to mature quickly (which he had shown no signs of so far) he was just going to be a hinderance. It's surprisingly realistic for a JRPG. >his whole party chooses this event to be the "last straw" in tolerating him, even his supposed "best friend" who's seen how he grew up and should understand his mentality better than anyone
Guy literally sticks with Luke though.
>They don't need to tolerate him, it's not their problem.
They do if they're willingly traveling with him. They're free to frick off at anytime if they're not willing to cooperate.

>They're free to frick off at anytime if they're not willing to cooperate
That's exactly what they did thougheverbeit. They had no practical reason to associate with him after Akzeriuth, so they fricked off.
I will never forgive Bamco for killing off Crestoria. The shitty bugs aside the cast of characters and the writing was great. Would've been really cool to see it get a console game.
Nah, Abyss is shit.
If the game doesn't make the player feel like they're number one it can go frick itself. If i wanted something deeper, philosophical or something that would make me question the ways of life i'd read a book.
I agree with this. The biggest flaw of the game is Luke's immediate personality change afterwards. He instantly becomes pure good and loses his personality in the process. I will say in the jp version pre-Akzeriuth Luke comes off more as bored and upper-class than butthole-ish.
He's more likable as a dickhead than the whiny b***h he becomes for most of the rest of the game.
That's the actual moral of the story, a funny butthole is better than a whiny homosexual.
Vesperia and Abyss are the best ones. They peaked quite a while ago, with Xillia 2 being the last game they made that gave a frick about the gameplay at all. Hearts R is good but it's locked to the shitty fricking garbage Vita.
They changed directors. That's why. Higushi made three tales games - > symphonia, abyss, and vesperia. They where by far the best and the highest selling. For some reason they just won't make him director again.
Also Namco tales studio went defunct in 2012. Along with so many Japanese game developers during the financial credit crunch. So the new tales are literally just made by some random dudes at Namco. The creators are long gone.
And that's why the series hasn't been worth following since the year 2008.
Also I think what they did with the vesperia redub was downright disrespectful. They could have at least put some effort into it considering vesperia is the series crowning achievement. And I'm not talking about the new actors they do okay. But shit like the audio being muxed at different volumes depending on if it's new vs old voice acting is amateur hour bullshit.
New Yuri grows on you but tbhon he kinda sounds like he's retrieving the aqua blastia cause he wants to surf. Not cause he's an anti hero badass. The original VA for Yuri did such a good job I actually play vesperia dubbed. And this is coming from someone who chooses Japanese va 99% of the time. His performance was on par with dubbed spike (bebops probably the only anime I'll watch dubbed as well.)
New guy does an admirable job during the events. But he sucks at the arte names. Luckily the new guys va is often overridden by just generic grunts from the old va so I think Namco realized it too.
Man, I grew up with Symphonia and later on with Dawn of the New World on Wii. One of the best storytelling game ever made on par with Star Ocean, likeable characters, interesting banters between party, almost make child me were part of Lloyd's friendship in my own imagination. The anime were quite good too 🙂
But who can forget the artstyle, Kosuke Fujishima the creator of Oh My Goddess! really stuck deep inside me, his artstyle really with Tales series. Newest installment just downright generic anime style which disrespectful tbh..
Can't tell if you're fricking around or if dawn of the new world actually worth playing. I've had if for years but always read it was awful so never even tried it. Same with zesteria.
Next to Symphonia, Dawn is probably my most played Tales. It's nothing special, and while it apes a lot of shit from Abyss, it didn't bother bringing over some bootleg FoF, which is a bummer. Combat's definitely been dumbed down, but the main protag's aerial combat is fricking ridiculous, he puts Judith to shame.
A core aspect is monster raising, and I found it to be fairly interesting.
It's really not balanced around NG+, because any kind of EXP multiplier will render most of your human characters, barring the lead protags, useless since their levels and equipment are locked to specific loadouts, no matter the difficulty.
>he puts Judith to shame.
Judith takes more to understand, but once you do she's a lot better than Emil would ever be. Her main issue is she's more work than she's worth to get to that point.
What they did with the Vesperia Remaster is pretty shitty, so my second playthrough was in Japanese. The new Yuri VA has a lot of shit lines when he has to talk for the PS3 content, and the way he says artes is low quality as frick. The new voice lines are done really shitty and with terrible mixing like you mentioned.
>Too fricking lazy to hire original Yuri VA, didn't even contact him at all because they were scared of the price or something >Yuri's new VA sounds like a congested fricking dork with lots of bad line deliveries, sometimes he sounds okay but it depends heavily on the scene >Rita's VA sounds like shit for the new lines, you can tell she can barely do the Rita voice anymore >Raven's VA sounds tired, but at least they brought him back >Judith's new VA is trying her best but it still sounds amateur >Karol kinda sounds the same but you can tell the energy isn't there >Estelle and Flynn are the only two party members who sound the same, but their audio mixing is fricked up like everyone else
Fuuuuuuuuck all of that. Just play in Japanese to avoid inconsistent English voice acting that constantly swaps between the original high quality voice acting and the new, terribly mixed amateur voice acting. Vesperia is my favorite game of all time and a lot of that was due to how surprisingly well done the original dub was. While a lot of it is maintained in the remaster, the way Bandai Namco handled the remaster is so fricking sloppy that it's infuriating as frick to me.
I love, love, LOVE this game. But frick you Namco you cheap, lazy c**ts.
I only played Vesperia and Abyss.
I can't decide which one is better.
Yuri is a 10/10 protagonist, but the villains in Vesperia are awful;
Gameplay-wise Vesperia is slightly better I guess.
I liked that one a bit more. Combat is less flashy, but bosses aren't giant HP sponges, and the cast and skits are better.
It's like $7 so give it a go.
Berseria is okay, the enemies aren't damage sponges at least...
But the best way to play is just mash the auto combo so you don't have to change your attacks setup every time you change screens.
>Vesperia is overrated. Story had no direction. But Yuri is probably one of the coolest MC in a JRPG.
I'll take no story and a good MC over a shit story and a shit MC, like Abyss. Get some better taste, you fricking Black folk.
Abyss has both better characters, combat and story. Vesperia is one of the over rated fricking games I ever played. Only memorable thing about that game is Yuri killing someone.
>Abyss has both better characters
what????? what characters??? GUY? LUKE? TEAR? the princess with the bow? tear's only memorable trait is her offmodel breasts that all the /e/ artists give her
Only Vesperia character that is not garbage is Yuri. The villains are also among the worst in the series, Zagi and Alexei are especially bad. Duke is a Sephiroth clone.
I loved that he calls out the name of your guild during the boss fight. The guild is treated as a joke for most of the game, but when you reach this guy, he specifically mentions it as an obstacle to his plans.
The bar is so low that you just have to not be a little piss boy, wallowing in self pity. Yuri is cool on the tales scale but a gay compared to pic related.
>Story had no direction
I think it still works. The game plays out like an adventure of opportunity and circumstance, as opposed to being driven by a particular goal that permeates the entire narrative. MC Yuri himself doesn't have any goal in his life to focus on until near the end when he sets his heart on Brave Vesperia. The almost aimlessness of the party's travel, only seizing opportunities as they present themselves, reflects on Yuri's own life situation
Good way to put it. I like vesperias narrative a lot because of how organic it is. Yuri is being pushed and pulled by events more so than directing them, taking his opportunities as they come. It's the story of a man and his small business. Simple but good
From a story perspective, I would argue Abyss is the only one with an actually interesting narrative. From a dialogue perspective, it's controversial but I actually really like Graces. I think it does a great job of conveying the idea of a bunch of childhood friends saving the world. If you're playing coop, Graces is the best. The gameplay works really well in 4 player and the narrative structure allows for a very comfy couch coop experience. If you're by yourself then the trilogy of Symphonia/Abyss/Vesperia are pretty solid. Avoid all of the newer games though. They range from mediocre (Xillia 2 and Berseria) to downright terrible (Zesteria, Xillia 1)
All tales games have walking archtypes for characters so I do not give any credence to the complaints about the characters being bad. They are not objectively horrible and actively terrible people like the cast from Abyss. Graces has the best combat.
Hearts R is pretty goos too. The cast has a lot of chemistry and it similarly had a GOATed battle system. Im gonna have go play Beseria someday.
agreed. graces F is criminally underrated. overall best tales game by far. gameplay is lots of fun and the party is very likable
Vesperia and Symphonia, and to some Abyss, are the exceptions that characters are just anime tropes.
Graces F also has shit gameplay. Hold down square half the time, the cancerous arte tree, spam B artes. Third worst Tales, gaves us more dogshit a la Zestiria and Berseria.
Never played any other Tales but loved this one. It is one of the few rpg that let me satisfied with the amount of interaction there's between characters and how they get to know each other. Other jrpg feel like the relationship is built off camera (when they go to sleep to a tavern or things like this) because the game wants to show how the main plot advances.
Not really, there’s nothing wrong with Phantasia, Eternia, Hearts, Innocence, Xillia 2 or Berseria last arc.
The games that have a bad last arc were Destiny, Symphonia, Abyss, Graces, Vesperia and Xillia. Legendia and Zestiria are a mixed bag through and through so they don’t count, otherwise the last arc is arguably their strongest points as well, with a bad/boring beginning and mid game.
I think it's going to be a love it or hate it thing once it gets translated. It's unnecessarily cruel towards the Destiny cast and the battle system really takes altering your usual Tales mindset to fully enjoy. It's top tier for me.
>story
Can really pick any, but I like the ones with romance so Destiny, Destiny 2, Hearts, Legendia(rejection was brutal and uncommon), Arise >gameplay
Again, any really. People like the destiny team more than symphonia team so I guess that >music
Legendia by far.
Abyss is such shit. The 'arc' Luke goes through is one of the worst Ive seen. He goes from annoying to bland and weak. His annoying form is actually more likeable because at least its over the top.
I need to finish Berseria but I've been feeling so meh with it.
Pacing is either fricking way too slow or events happen way too fast. I'm not liking how skits are shown instead of us seeing events. All the other character building moments are in side quests but they're so out of the way. Combat's kinda meh and it just feels like the plot is fricking around too much and doesn't know where to go. It has some good moments but most of it has been so meh.
Of the Tales games I have played:
Berseria>Vesperia>Symphonia>Xillia>Arise>stinky diaper babies>>
[...]
gap>Abyss
I legitimately dont understand why everyone sucks off Abyss so much. Luke is an insufferable homosexual for most of the game and even after his "redemption arc" hes still not a good character. Tear is ok. Everyone else is just pretty fricking meh and the banter between them is so fricking boring and lackluster that I cant remember any skits at all despite finishing the game 2 months ago. The combat is a worst of any of the games I have played. The game has you backtrack to the same 4 fricking locations atleast 5x each. ITs just not a good game and I am convinced that the only people who shill it are pseudointellctual homosexuals who think the story is deep or something despite being extremely lackluster. Berseria has a bettter story. Fricking Symphonia has a better story. So does Vesperia.
Berseria on the other hand has >pretty decent combat >kino story >kino characters >kino interactions >kino skits >kino voice acting >kino straight shota >kino magilou
Everything about the game is just pure unadulturated kino. I am considering playing Zesteria despite people always saying its bad because you people have god fricking awful opinions about Tales games and perhaps its better than Zesteria which you made me play through with all your shilling.
Exactly. Most if not all the characters at that time knew his relationship with Van.
Also If I recall he was asking to help but everyone blew him off so he went to Van.
Ion not getting any shit for his part bugged me, but the homosexual dies so good enough. Abyss is fricking terrible in the end. The game just goes on and on and on and on and it is boring. Especially when you spend a significant amount of time just flying between towns to watch cutscenes.
My first tales game was Eternia so I'm a little biased because it's more simple.
Was funny playing Phantasia many years later to realise Sekundes was Dhaos the whole fricking time.
Abyss is the best
Destiny remake is fantastic
vesperia and xillia 2 are very solid
the rest are mediocre, or do one or two things great and the rest poorly
...would almost certainly be of worse quality than just emulating them. Like the real port of Symphonia we just got, and the real port of Symphonia that we got before that.
Two major things. Arte usage would be one, but I think unlocking new functions for attacks as you use them more often is neat.
-Arte chain. Be default, you can only chain Base -> Arcane. Special attacks called Altered artes can be obtained really early in the game, but are completely unchainable. The Super Chain skills required to be able to chain artes together outside the usual restriction are only obtained around the end of the game for most characters.
-TP management is absolute hell in Vesperia. Artes cost a lot of TP, which means you're less incentivized to experiment with them, which means you don't get to grind up their usage count, potentially locking away certain mechanics. NG+ offers to let you inherit skills and equipment, meaning you get access to better TP restoration and even TP cost reduction immediately.
The iron chef dome in dahngreat made me really miss the show. Frick iron chef America taking it off air. The israeliteed version.

That's pretty much every American TV adaptation. I tried watching some of the GBBS spinoffs from the US and they try to shove so much drama in it's unreal.
Symphonia is my first Tales of I beat a couple days ago, but I probably had one of worst horrible ending scenarios where I messed around with the Flanoir scene and got Krator.
I did not expect the horror on my face for the last hours where Zelos betrays the party and Kratos comes back. It felt so wrong and out of left field that I did a bit of research and found out that happens for that Flanoir scene so I denounced that playthrough and just used one of my 40 autism saves to go back before and beat it again.
I was very curious what would happen if I kept refusing, after reading that it was your top 3 affection characters and then got too involved in the backstory.
A game truly in need of a remake. You clean up that battle system into something a little more traditional (but not too much) and then it'll be perfect.
Hearts R was close to the GOATs and would have been there or surpassed Graces and Destiny DC if they hadn't been given a shoestring budget and were allowed to cook a little more.
But Graces budget is nothing special as well, and Hearts R's combat system is far better than its flowchart.
Destiny DC is debatable. Personally i just fricking hate both Stahn and Leon and a combat system with just 6 skill shortcuts is wayy too outdated at this point.
>patty >shoehorned into every cutscene >instead of changing core dialogue they just have people say one off shit to her
god it was so bad. Her character wasn't even horrible, but her addition makes the game worse. same with flynn as a playable party member
yep, it was super noticeable because i played the 360 version first, then the pc version only recently. It was extremely jarring. Like I said, she had a decently sad story though so I didn't mind that aspect.
what tales game do i play if I just want Final Fantasy V the tales game. aka good simple story (and actually legit the best plot in the game), fun characters and character dynamics, takes itself not too seriously but can bring the heat and dramatic moments.
Black person are you moronic? they're both good characters, but they're nothing alike. Zelos is a playboy, raven is an unsuccessful playboy. Raven is also connected to everyone in the game politically, Zelos has a sister locked up in a nunnery who despises him. Raven betrays the party for different reasons, and I think he was way closer to the party than zelos was. I feel like lloyd and zelos never got along
I thought symphonia had a serious story
>the game is so good all the way through
No it really isn't, early game/mid game is where it truly shines, then it drops in quality exactly at the tower of salvation with the Mithos/angels twist. It's probably because he's a dogshit villain but every bit of the game where it isn't about him or the elves is pretty cool, especially the Tethealla parts.
answer me this you fricking c**ts I want to play some VIDEO GAMES this weekend
last time I played a tales games was on the snes, what should I play now?
What platform? If PC, then Symphonia and Vesperia are the best you can get on Steam, Berseria maybe as well even if it's not as good, it has a cool cast of characters.
So why do people refuse to admit that Yuri and Estelle grew romantic feelings for one another? Their heart to heart has Estelle emphasize wanting to stay by his side into them looking into each other's eyes for a lengthy period of time just for Yuri to follow it up with him saying he felt the same way. It's almost like Tales fans need two characters to make out or say they love each other to understand romance.
Because emotional attachment doesn't necessarily mean love. And why the frick would the tard wrangler get romantic with his patient when he has the dog and knight around.
Their dynamic is actually really good and Estelle's growth and the way she grows on Yuri does a lot for the game. Like when Yuri is caught by Flynn after killing Cumore and Flynn essentially abandoned him, but Estelle overheard and decided to stick with him and believe in him. With that being a quick decision from her as well when before she was entirely indecisive about almost everything as well really showed a lot of growth for her. One could also tell that Yuri wasn't ready to lose Estelle there at the same time as Flynn, so that was also something that helped keep him together at that point.
A fun battle system can cover mediocre story, it can't cover an offensively bad story with offensively bad pacing and offensively bad skits. Rebirth simply cannot be anyone's favorite unless they 1. can't read it and skipped all the skits, or 2. have only played Rebirth and some of the shittier Tales games like Tempest.
Black person are you moronic? they're both good characters, but they're nothing alike. Zelos is a playboy, raven is an unsuccessful playboy. Abyss's combat boils down to beating up an hp sponge, running away from it when it rages in free run mode, then going back to beat it up once rage ends. The field combo system is cool but battles are too fast and messy to really make use of it, unless you're Jade who can set up his own fields where he stands.
FoF was a really fun system, even when it wasn't that efficient.
But it really opened up in multiplayer. Getting three friends to cooperate enough to take down Nebelim was a hell of an evening
>his plan is proven wrong >ok you guys do what you gotta do and im going to go back
no moron screaming, no "aaaiiiieeee my plan is ruined", very cool antagonist
>memba when Arise came out and scamco was like "hey what tales game do you want to see remastered!!" >everyone asked for the ToD 1+2 duology with an english translation
Instead we got another fricking port of Symphonia that's shit. God I fricking hate scamco so much.
symphonia, and it's not a contest. Look, I love vesperia too, but let's face it, the story is DOGSHIT. like. it's BADDDD. You fight a recurring boss 8 times, he's the second last boss... and he has no back story or relationship to anyone or anything in the world. he just keeps showing up to kill story moments... It makes zero sense.
Also, Duke is fricking moronic as an antagonist, it's obvious that Alexi was meant to be the final boss and the game would be better if it ended there tbh.
I love the characters, the music, and the art though. Vesperia is great. Symponia is just top 5 RPGs though, it's so fricking iconic.
Black person what are you talking about. There are so many good scenes about racism, both for and against it. the game is so good all the way through, if anything it starts slow and only picks up at the tower of salvation where the floor drops out narratively
>the game is so good all the way through

Pretty funny coming from a man who's defending Symphonia. That game was really repetitive and stupid.
Vesperia had a far more strong message and intent behind its plot. The entire damn thing is a very well structured narrative about personal justice.
That's because Vesperia was the first game to actually start going in on combo potential.
Abyss was more about positioning, that's why FoF fields were the focus.
I cannot, for the life of me, understand why anyone would prefer Symphonia over Abyss or Vesperia. Abyss in particular is just a straight upgrade over Symphonia in every way.

Vesperia is really fricking ugly without the mod that disables all the bloom and DoF. Without it, it becomes has a timeless aesthetic that will still look good in 50 years.
Funny how Hearts R is still vita only some many games even namco games got port but not hearts R i wonder if is true that is because sony owns the game translation
Phantasia PS1 was quite the ride. Battle mechanics were screwy as hell, coming from Symphonia and Abyss but I still loved it.
Playing co-op makes things way more enjoyable, too.
Same. Last time, I did a Cheria run and she was better than I thought. Maybe I'll frick around with Sophie since I wasn't ever really able to get a good feel for her.
I really liked Innocence R. I don't know what it was about that game, but I just found the characters endearing, the plot to be pretty interesting, the gameplay to be fun (even when I was breaking it by mid game) the world to be somewhat big and interesting to explore for a DS turned Vita games and just enjoyed the hell out of it.
It also emulated really well on the Vita emulator, although a few lines in the fan translation really took me out of the game world sometime.
Abyss and Symphonia are in my top 3 for sure, but I think that one is my favourite.
Oh, for frick's sake.
Well, the editing tools are out there, so I guess I'll just have to unfrick it myself.

What's even the point of doing a translation if you're going to do shit like this? What a waste of time.

Admittedly, I cannot think of any other way to express sarcasm in text so as much as that does annoy me. I think it's the only fair one out of the bunch I screenshotted. Still doesn't excuse the rest of it.
I'm sure their logic is something along the lines of "these people are teenagers, they must speak like we do!" which makes no sense as they are not from our world and even if they were the game is ten years old at this point when it wasn't common to say this shit. Or perhaps the English language doesn't have a fitting translation for whatever Sparda was saying here and thus "Bruh" is correct.
Maybe he said "Aniki" for some reason.

Yeah, but be warned. It is a modern fan translation.
Sorry, there are sections where you'll need to read it too.
Okay, that is hilarious. Immersiom-breaking but hilarious. Kind of reminds me of Project X Zone 2 and Natsu talking like a modern-day valley girl despite being from a ninja from feudal Japan. The difference is that was the official translation that someone signed off on

The idea of treating text-based interaction as an actual form of speech absolutely didn't exist prior to zoomers being so terminally online (and Black personlicious, but that's another thing) that they saw absolutely no distinction between the shit they spew on twitter and how they'd actually talk to someone in real life.
Even 30 year old boomers recoiled at the idea of l33tspeak being used in personal communication which is why localizations like Sal Monella and those Hammer Bros from Partners in Time still get shit on.

It keeps getting worse...
Don't expect it to be done soon, though. I'll have to go through the game and suffer first. But this deserves an actual translation - not whatever this crap is.
>Does anyone know if vita emulator work for deck?
No idea, but I'm sure there's a video out there to give you an install guide. Don't have a Deck but I had a pretty shit mid 2014/15 pc when I was playing it and could run it at 1080p with no issues, so I'm sure it'll work fine.
>Also where to find vita games without dolphin porn
https://github.com/blastrock/pkgj
No problem, I'm not sure if pkgj is exactly where I got the game from since I don't even remember how I made it work but I downloaded it back when I wanted to play and it's what the ROM&ISO wiki says to use so I'm sure it works.
I would say its a toss up between Phantasia, Symphonia, The Abyss, and Vesperia. They're all good anime RPGs that start off feeling cookie-cutter but get better some ways into each game. Keep in mind that each game is very much a product of its time.
Vesperia has one of the most awful story and antagonist cast and the gameplay that only get fun 30 hours in, anyone who think it's even close to being the best is fricking delusional
God how old is this image and how is it such a timeless classic >I WHO DWELL IN THE ABOUNDING LIGHT OF HEAVEN >DAMN I MUST BE A GENIUS DOUBLE DEMON FANG
Gameplay wise I enjoyed Xillia 2 the most. The protag was a one man machine I didn't even care about my party in the team and enjoyed the style switching
played through it and finished it last week
id say its ok outside of >bosses and big enemies are fricking awful dogshit >story shits the bed in the last 20% >human """"""""""villian"""""""""" may as well not even exist, hes basically there at the end because "oh yeah series staple is the final boss is human/humanoid"
There's more going on down the rabbit hole.
Auldrant is a pretty horrible place to live on, especially with the people relying on the Score to insane degrees.
The Score is basically God's predictions of the future written on stone essentially. Literally everything that's going to happen in the world is written on it and the people of that world rely on it to the point not having any agency for their own lives since the Score dictates everything.
The pope purposely causes war because the Score says so.
Van, final boss, wants people to escape it so plans to clone everything since clones (like the MC) are apparently exempt from the Score because they're not taken into account.
A whole bunch of convoluted side switching with the concept of free will and cloning along with betrayals and a metric frickton of people AND clones dying and it just gets worse after the main party found out that Auldrant is actually a hollow shell of the world where the continents are actually miles above the surface the actual world, which is a poisonous infinite sea of mud and miasma.
Magic.
Sephiroth Trees, basically magic energy pillars of the world, for every major continent keep them risen in the air.
MC destroys one by being mind-controlled and a part of a huge continent collapses into the pit, killing hundreds of people who were already suffering from the miasma seeping from the surface.
...And then the rest of the pillars start weakening and all of the continents start falling down..................
The ancient civilizations raised the surface of the planet and are held by pillars called sephiroth trees. The villain baited the MC to destroy one of those trees and they crashed down to the titular "abyss" It caused the other trees to destabilize so they had to find a way to stop the miasma from seeping and lower the other areas of the planet so they don't crash down.
Oh if he made the soundtrack it's probably worth playing. Sakuraba is great when he cares(dark souls, Baten Kaitos, Phantasia) but when it comes to Tales of it seems he doesn't care that much.
It was forced out before it was finished. Most likely to sell back the finished product as DLC or a straight up re-release. It was also inteded to be the first of a trilogy, but didn't bother to properly anniynce that.
Hearts R. Probably the best combat system in the series, a cute cast (a tales game where i don't want to murder MC's rival!), and a pure, dumb, entertaining shounen story full of horny antics.
It feels like a new attempt at changing where the series is going or going to go for the next few games. Combat starts off okay, but you will that near the ends it becomes more of an annoyance since you can the most effective combos and damage and it just ends up tickling enemies. Story is typical Tales of telling and the party dynamics are pretty obvious in pairing each boy and girl together for their own interactions. If you can get it on sale I'd say it's worth it and just pirate the DLC. Hootle is cute too.
I hated it and dropped it within 2 hours of gameplay. I can't believe they got rid of the traditional LMBS style combat in favor of copying the Nu-Ys games. I'm still fricking mad about it.
I heard the story and characters were nothing to write home about; but I didn't play or care enough to find out more.
It's meh and i bought it day one. The characters except a couple are very forgettable, the world is ok but compared to other wordlbuilding in the series like xilla is a fricking downgrade. The story is very... anime but it doesnt have good surprises, you just rush (litterally rush) over one stage through the other, you go into the sci-fi level and thats over. I can't even remember who was the bad guy and what the frick he wanted.
I am not an autist like "i can't do a 200040 hit combo" i never cared a shit about that. You give me a tales which plays like an rts i will play it nonetheless.
But story, characters and character evolution are really "meh". Waste no more than 15 bucks on it just if you are curious.
Vesperia
fpbp, symphonia second best choice. Abyss is good but it's not top 3.
I can only relate to mcs who are moronic so Symphonia
You posted it

Zestiria
>Zestiria
Probably 2nd worst, just above Legendia
why is legendia bad
I didn't care for the combat, none of the characters seemed cool, and the extra gimmick mechanics weren't worth it for me. I did only play through the first boss, though, so maybe it gets better, unlike Zestiria.
Symphonia obviously
Sex with Tear and Natalia
Sex with Sheena and Raine
Sex with Judith and Estelle
Sex with Tales girls
That's one
All the e-girls!
And the only shota.
yes
Worst e-girl
Also kind of dark
>dark
?
But i love all the e-girls (and the shota) i just posted her because she is my phone wallpaper.
Absolutely great taste, anon.
Tales has the best e-girls in every jrpg. Every one is different and sexy.
I don't consider Arise a tales. And i am still mad.
Elize is downright broken when you get some skills. In the coliseum, I could beat the enemies in a fraction of the time compared to others.
>teepo switching boost skill
>negative gate
>negative gate
>negative gate
There arent any e-girls in Arise.
__Edna didnt count
bullshit, i played this on PC for almost 40 minutes to see if my brother would like it as a gift, shit is boring as hell
At least you didn't play it for 45 hours to completion like I did.
It is safe to ignore whaterever a Symphonia fans says.
I'm still mad.
what's wrong with it?
It's a port of the PS2 version for some reason.
>still has the same audio issues from Symphonia Chronicles from several years ago
>switch version is somehow even worse, with terrible performance
>updated textures are just AI-upscaled ones
>that weird fricking cut to complete darkness in menus and skits
>still no option to use the beautiful GC font
Remastered should be memory-holed to the darkest abyss. It is a complete disgrace to Symphonia.
Why didn't they at least put DoTNW with it? Isn't there a dual pack on the PS3? Just port that. Classic bamco.
I dunno why they never bothered. Then again, I've gotten so used to playing modded DotNW that I can never go back to playing vanilla, so I'm not really complaining.
>overall
Vesperia

Destiny DC
Honestly, all I'd want is Vesperia with narikiri dolls, a less Yuri-biased skill spread and a CP mode.
Graces F was the only one I really enjoyed. Arise is ok I haven’t beaten it yet though.
That one
graces is good stuff
Graces is dogshit
Graces has the best combat in the series and it's not even close.
Yeah and it's STILL an awful game as a whole. Everything else is seriously that bad.
I cannot ever replay this game because the MC spends the first 20 hours being a dickhead
for me it's everyone shitting on him exclusively
It's good, and people clinging to "muh Guy and Tear and Jade were meanies :(" make the game a disservice.
>man is immature
>put up with him
>man reacts immaturely to a major event
>"I was stupid for starting to think you had some good in you."
But Abyss is beloved by most people even 18 years later so you're wrong
Go play YIIK and white knight for alex.
>Luke is seven years old
>He's spent his whole life incredibly sheltered with one (1) person who makes him feel valued
>that one person uses and betrays him to do something completely horrific
>he realistically eacts like a mortified child
>his whole party chooses this event to be the "last straw" in tolerating him, even his supposed "best friend" who's seen how he grew up and should understand his mentality better than anyone
>Tear is a cradle-snatcher
h-hot
I will say in the jp version pre-Akzeriuth Luke comes off more as bored and upper-class than butthole-ish.
that's why it's kino
Don't play dawn.
>Presea main
mein neger.
>Too fricking lazy to hire original Yuri VA, didn't even contact him at all because they were scared of the price or something
>Yuri's new VA sounds like a congested fricking dork with lots of bad line deliveries, sometimes he sounds okay but it depends heavily on the scene
>Rita's VA sounds like shit for the new lines, you can tell she can barely do the Rita voice anymore
>Raven's VA sounds tired, but at least they brought him back
>Judith's new VA is trying her best but it still sounds amateur
>Karol kinda sounds the same but you can tell the energy isn't there
>Estelle and Flynn are the only two party members who sound the same, but their audio mixing is fricked up like everyone else
You posted it, anon. Completely unbiased opinion btw.
t. anon whose favorite game of all time is TotA
Berseria is the best one.
Not even the publisher agrees with that cope.
It's best feature is being better than Zestiria.
Berseria has the best caster gameplay in the series.
I only played Vesperia and Abyss.
I can't decide which one is better.
Yuri is a 10/10 protagonist, but the villains in Vesperia are awful;
Gameplay-wise Vesperia is slightly better I guess.
I played Arise when it went on sale and I thought it was okay, and now Berseria is on sale. How good is that one?
I liked that one a bit more. Combat is less flashy, but bosses aren't giant HP sponges, and the cast and skits are better.
It's like $7 so give it a go.
Abyss and symphonia are the best. Graces, xillia, and vesperia for the gameplay.
Better than Arise but still flawed.
Berseria is okay, the enemies aren't damage sponges at least...
But the best way to play is just mash the auto combo so you don't have to change your attacks setup every time you change screens.
do you like edge and shota?
Vesperia is overrated. Story had no direction. But Yuri is probably one of the coolest MC in a JRPG.
>Vesperia is overrated. Story had no direction. But Yuri is probably one of the coolest MC in a JRPG.
I'll take no story and a good MC over a shit story and a shit MC, like Abyss. Get some better taste, you fricking Black folk.
You sound mad
I hated how he came back to life in the end. He should have died for his crimes.
Abyss has both better characters, combat and story. Vesperia is one of the over rated fricking games I ever played. Only memorable thing about that game is Yuri killing someone.
>Abyss has both better characters
what????? what characters??? GUY? LUKE? TEAR? the princess with the bow? tear's only memorable trait is her offmodel breasts that all the /e/ artists give her
Each one better than the entire cast of Vesperia.
Only Vesperia character that is not garbage is Yuri. The villains are also among the worst in the series, Zagi and Alexei are especially bad. Duke is a Sephiroth clone.
Judith is sex.
Estelle is love.
I loved that he calls out the name of your guild during the boss fight. The guild is treated as a joke for most of the game, but when you reach this guy, he specifically mentions it as an obstacle to his plans.
The bar is so low that you just have to not be a little piss boy, wallowing in self pity. Yuri is cool on the tales scale but a gay compared to pic related.
now you've set the bar too high
Not even
>Story had no direction
They range from mediocre (Xillia 2 and Berseria) to downright terrible (Zesteria, Xillia 1)
>downright terrible
>Xillia 1
Get fricked, c**t.
xillia 2 is the only tales game i have ever enjoyed
Xillia 2. Suck my dick.
Which is the best version of Abyss?
It's the exact same game, 3DS has better loading times but worse graphics. There's a great looking HD Texture Pack for PCSX2
Graces F
Third worst Tales, gaves us more dogshit a la Zestiria and Berseria.
jarpigs we're missing on (native) PC:
Tales
Dragon Quest
Breath of Fire
we will never get a port of Abyss, one of the few 6/10 Tales games in a sea of 5/10 Tales games.
I bought Vesperia on my switch but haven't started it yet so I hope it's fun
Never played any other Tales but loved this one. It is one of the few rpg that let me satisfied with the amount of interaction there's between characters and how they get to know each other. Other jrpg feel like the relationship is built off camera (when they go to sleep to a tavern or things like this) because the game wants to show how the main plot advances.
Tales of Destiny DC
It would be if the last third of the game wasn't a shitshow.
Every Tales game has a shitty last third.
I'd say X2 has a really strong last third.
Not really, there’s nothing wrong with Phantasia, Eternia, Hearts, Innocence, Xillia 2 or Berseria last arc.
The games that have a bad last arc were Destiny, Symphonia, Abyss, Graces, Vesperia and Xillia. Legendia and Zestiria are a mixed bag through and through so they don’t count, otherwise the last arc is arguably their strongest points as well, with a bad/boring beginning and mid game.
is ToD 2 (JP) any good
It's not translated yet, so I don't know.
I think it's going to be a love it or hate it thing once it gets translated. It's unnecessarily cruel towards the Destiny cast and the battle system really takes altering your usual Tales mindset to fully enjoy. It's top tier for me.
>It's unnecessarily cruel towards the Destiny cast
Sounds fine to me, because the Destiny cast was really boring.
Honestly they're all the same. It's like arguing over shounen anime.
Anyone saying Symphonia or Abyss is a fricking moron.
You just posted it. Abyss is some lightning in a bottle kinda shit.
Abyss, Graces, Xillia 2, Hearts R and Destiny R are the top 5.
>male hero can show his tummy
>story
Can really pick any, but I like the ones with romance so Destiny, Destiny 2, Hearts, Legendia(rejection was brutal and uncommon), Arise
>gameplay
Again, any really. People like the destiny team more than symphonia team so I guess that
>music
Legendia by far.
Abyss is such shit. The 'arc' Luke goes through is one of the worst Ive seen. He goes from annoying to bland and weak. His annoying form is actually more likeable because at least its over the top.
I wish he succeeded in killing himself. But the game just had to go on for another 10 hours
morons that like stupid Luke also like Squall from FFVIII, so they can be ignored either way
Whatever
Go talk to a wall.
vesperia's extra edition stuff was kind of funky.
I liked eternal sonata but I happen to like classic music and jrpgs alot so could forgive its faults.
The best part of the game was that bonus dungeon in the sand area. The stairway the heaven. The combat is a lot of fun.
Wish they'd do a pc port
I also like it.
Babby's first existential crisis with Chopin and company.
Eternal Sonata 2 featuring Debussy when?
I need to finish Berseria but I've been feeling so meh with it.
Pacing is either fricking way too slow or events happen way too fast. I'm not liking how skits are shown instead of us seeing events. All the other character building moments are in side quests but they're so out of the way. Combat's kinda meh and it just feels like the plot is fricking around too much and doesn't know where to go. It has some good moments but most of it has been so meh.
Kyou > Nagisa
bro i haven't even read clannad yet. Makoto is the best key girl btw
Of the Tales games I have played:
Berseria>Vesperia>Symphonia>Xillia>Arise>stinky diaper babies>>
Berseria on the other hand has
>pretty decent combat
>kino story
>kino characters
>kino interactions
>kino skits
>kino voice acting
>kino straight shota
>kino magilou
Everything about the game is just pure unadulturated kino. I am considering playing Zesteria despite people always saying its bad because you people have god fricking awful opinions about Tales games and perhaps its better than Zesteria which you made me play through with all your shilling.
Go to sleep Velvet
decent combat
>>kino story
hahaha
lol
lmao
I liked Guy and Fields of Fonons for some reason. Abyss was a shit game. People only like it because they were 12 when they played it.
FoF produced some pretty cool looking artes.
FANGS OF HELL, RISE! DEVIL'S MAW!
Eternia
I'm just gonna say it.
Luke did nothing wrong and should have actually been told shit instead of being kept in the dark.
Plus Van was also a father figure and the only person he really liked, of course he's gonna listen to him.
Ion ticked me off so much I had almost erased the character from my memory.
You posted it. Abyss is the peak of the franchise and one of the best JRPGs out there specially in terms of characterization and world building
In the years to come if there will EVER be a Tales game remake that deserves to be made, its Abyss. Still the best game of the franchise.
Game had like three double bluff climaxes to the story. Every time you thought it was fricking over, it just continued again.
For me, it's https://youtu.be/iH-8PbaaYko
I have to be the only one who liked Symphonia 2
You're not, but the only way you'd actually see it posted in this thread given the topic is if someone has played very few of the games.
My first tales game was Eternia so I'm a little biased because it's more simple.
Was funny playing Phantasia many years later to realise Sekundes was Dhaos the whole fricking time.
Eternia. Pretty much all of the 2d ones mog the 3d games and even the best 3d game, Symphonia, plays like a 2d game.
Imagine the hatefricking
What the frick was her problem?
Abyss is the best
Destiny remake is fantastic
vesperia and xillia 2 are very solid
the rest are mediocre, or do one or two things great and the rest poorly
Hearts R
JUST GIVE ME THE XILLIA GAMES ON PC ALREADY GOD FRICK
They're on PC.
REAL PORTS
...would almost certainly be of worse quality than just emulating them. Like the real port of Symphonia we just got, and the real port of Symphonia that we got before that.
Symphonia is only shit because Bamco refuses to to the bare minimal effort to finally update the aged PS2 frankenstein version
Vesperia was fine. Fricked dubbing aside, Zestiria and Berseria had no glaring issues. Even Arise didn't suffer from the typical UE4 porting pitfalls
Vesperia remaster took three years and it STILL has broken controller support on PC. Arise's PC version was developed in tandem, it doesn't count.
>Vesperia remaster took three years and it STILL has broken controller support on PC
Worked on my machine.
That's nice, it's still an issue that plagues the game.
The Symphonia port is so shit that I'm just emulating the PS3 Chronicles version.
Symphonia and Abyss and the only ones I enjoy now.
Replayed Symphonia, and it's still my favorite.
The party is literally perfect. The skits are still supremely based.
Idiots are only shitting on symphonia because it's a little old, party alone elevates it above all the others. Great game.
Well go on then, explain.
Tales of Destiny PS2 is fun.
Best abyss town
Phantasia
Sex with Mint
OMOI TSUTAI KISS KISS KISS
Phantasia has a nice op
My wife.
Pretty wife.
Tales of Vesperia. Sex with Juvia and nobody else
I'm replaying Vesperia definitive edition on switch right now. Im about to reach my favorite part the ghost ship <3
The switch port of Vesperia at least is really good. Fps/visuals are just as good as it was on the 360. And the loading times are really snappy.
Oh I forgot my picture
Arise
Rinwell erotic
Stupid c**t
Judith gets all the best dlc costumes. It was hard to pick between this and the kos kos one..
Yuris dlc costumes fricking suck. He gets a ton and they're all bad. I only like beach bum Yuri to be honest
i always give her the maid outfit
It's right up there with Jade's schoolgirl outfit in dqxi, or her corruption arc's outfit
>Jade's schoolgirl outfit i
WHAT
>in dqxi
oh right, that fricked me up for a sec because we're talking about Tales
Also Yuri, Judith, Rita, and Estelle is the one true party.
Are any of the games worth picking up on sale? Haven't played Tales but I have played Trails and some of the FF games
Berseria and Vesperia are really cheap on the steam sale, those 2 are very good.
I'd only recommend Vesperia if you grab a completed save file and start immediately on NG+. First playthrough fricking sucks.
why
That sounds bad. I'll skip vesperia then
Thanks anons
For reference, what is the full series in release order? In case I want to play from start to finish
Much appreciated
The iron chef dome in dahngreat made me really miss the show. Frick iron chef America taking it off air. The israeliteed version.
That's pretty much every American TV adaptation. I tried watching some of the GBBS spinoffs from the US and they try to shove so much drama in it's unreal.
Berseria and Vesperia are like $5-8 on sale and definitely worth that price.
Arise is decent and worth grabbing if under $20.
>tfw Anise was too early for the mesugaki/kusogaki boom to profit from it
anise is a fricking unlikable b***h that berates luke while being a hypocrite herself
pretty much the worst e-girl ever
>NOOO DON'T PICK ON MY BLAND SELF INSERT
Abyss is dogshit
>luke
>bland
you homosexuals don't even know what you're arguing about now
am i the only one who liked anise? I thought she was a fun character in the desolate wasteland of characters that comprised abyss's ensemble
Not alone, anon. Best cook, great artes, light and dark magic, and dat Haruko Momoi voice - oh yeah.
Tales of Maj'Eyal
bit different from the rest of the series but I've sunk hundreds of hours into it
I love ToME but trying for an ghoul bikini win for the last 100 or so hours of play time is starting to wear down my enthusiasm
I'm just waiting on the DLC
any day now, darkgod
Seeing an update today was such a wienertease. Just give us the fricking DLC already, no one uses the Vault anyways.
You got the best ending. Zelos deserves to die.
>I messed around with the Flanoir scene and got Krator.
How do you frick up this badly?
I was very curious what would happen if I kept refusing, after reading that it was your top 3 affection characters and then got too involved in the backstory.
You have to actually try and get that outcome lol.
1. I spent like 5 hours running around both worlds to find any events
2. Whenever a Kratos event showed up I always followed to find out what was up
3. I looked up an affection chart after and found out that (because I was aiming for Raine) that Kratos also got affection bonuses.
>because I was aiming for Raine
Holy god tier taste.
Legendia
A game truly in need of a remake. You clean up that battle system into something a little more traditional (but not too much) and then it'll be perfect.
The battle system isn't the only problem. Backtracking through every single dungeon in the game is a pretty significant issue.
I didn't mind it but I also abused holy bottles a lot by that point
>gameplay
destiny dc, graces f
>story
play a different game series
hearts R...
Welp gotta fap to Judith again
>core character lore is in an easily missed extra dungeon
I wish patty was never added. She's awful.
>patty
>shoehorned into every cutscene
>instead of changing core dialogue they just have people say one off shit to her
god it was so bad. Her character wasn't even horrible, but her addition makes the game worse. same with flynn as a playable party member
They also gave her dialogue in skits that others used to say. There's also plenty of instances where characters just will flat out ignore her.
yep, it was super noticeable because i played the 360 version first, then the pc version only recently. It was extremely jarring. Like I said, she had a decently sad story though so I didn't mind that aspect.
I'm glad Vesperia didn't have romance options they're the lowest form of rpg
whichever had a harem ending
>playing any Xenoblade after how the first one's story went.
Awful.
Shit protagonist. Never has to do anything, just gets it all for free. He just stands around and the story goes on autopilot, he's like Vaan.
I mean that's pretty realistic.
life is on autopilot when you're a Chad
Zagi was a good rival.
That part of the post-game nudging that he may be a child of the full moon like Estelle came outta nowhere.
Is that in the post-game dungeon?
Sort of. Him being a blastia cyborg points to that in a sort of strange way.
so what the frick is the Tales team up to currently? it's been a while since Arise
>Arise
I dunno they lost a lot of fans with the NTR in it
might need more time to recover from that
Eternia and Rebirth is getting a remake/remaster scheduled for 2024 and 2028 respectfully
More gacha garbage
what tales game do i play if I just want Final Fantasy V the tales game. aka good simple story (and actually legit the best plot in the game), fun characters and character dynamics, takes itself not too seriously but can bring the heat and dramatic moments.
Symphonia, whole party is good.
I thought symphonia had a serious story
It does but there's plenty of lighthearted banter and the party is overall very cheerful in spite of the somewhat dark and serious tone.
answer me this you fricking c**ts I want to play some VIDEO GAMES this weekend
What platform? If PC, then Symphonia and Vesperia are the best you can get on Steam, Berseria maybe as well even if it's not as good, it has a cool cast of characters.
I'm partial to Hearts R myself, a 7/10 game that has a tropey ass tropey story but is laid back and the gameplay is very fun.
XILLIA 2
They all have a serious story but the characters are constantly happily yapping away. There isn't a dark and gritty tales, not even Berseria.
Phantasia is very good.
Probably Symphonia but I'll hold the candle for Eternia. Free run was a horrible mistake.
Free Run is good though
Eternia > Phantasia > Symphonia > Destiny PS2 > Vesperia > the rest
So why do people refuse to admit that Yuri and Estelle grew romantic feelings for one another? Their heart to heart has Estelle emphasize wanting to stay by his side into them looking into each other's eyes for a lengthy period of time just for Yuri to follow it up with him saying he felt the same way. It's almost like Tales fans need two characters to make out or say they love each other to understand romance.
I don't know. They probably demand closure for some stupid reason. They just can't handle implications.
because I want to frick Judith
Because emotional attachment doesn't necessarily mean love. And why the frick would the tard wrangler get romantic with his patient when he has the dog and knight around.
I, too, look into my friends eyes for extended periods of time longingly.
No I never saw them as being attracted to eachother, pretty sure Yuri only has a boner for his rivalry with Flynn anyway
They are a cute couple and believe they got together at the end, but I am also a huge Tales of shipper.
t. 200+ images of YurixEstelle saved
One could also tell that Yuri wasn't ready to lose Estelle there at the same time as Flynn, so that was also something that helped keep him together at that point.
>almost 200 posts
>ctrl+F pic rel
man, frick you shitters.
Best: Destiny, Xillia, Berseria, Vesperia
Good: Graces, Symphonia
Dogshit: Zestiria, Symphonia 2
I really need to get around to finishing Vesperia definitive edition.
raven was such a great character.
Raven's a chink knockoff of Zelos, and does nothing better than the original.
My wife's game!
the one on snes i played forever ago, cause it had actual aesthetic
Maybe not in the best Tales but sure my wife Rin is the best ever.
vesperia put me to sleep, are abyss and symphonia better?
Abyss's combat boils down to beating up an hp sponge, running away from it when it rages in free run mode, then going back to beat it up once rage ends. The field combo system is cool but battles are too fast and messy to really make use of it, unless you're Jade who can set up his own fields where he stands.
FoF was a really fun system, even when it wasn't that efficient.
But it really opened up in multiplayer. Getting three friends to cooperate enough to take down Nebelim was a hell of an evening
>tfw Arise didn't have multiplayer
Oh that would work yeah. I want to do that.
Play the best Tales first then you can play whatever you want.
The one with /ss/
>his plan is proven wrong
>ok you guys do what you gotta do and im going to go back
no moron screaming, no "aaaiiiieeee my plan is ruined", very cool antagonist
>memba when Arise came out and scamco was like "hey what tales game do you want to see remastered!!"
>everyone asked for the ToD 1+2 duology with an english translation
Instead we got another fricking port of Symphonia that's shit. God I fricking hate scamco so much.
That is bullshit and I do not believe it.
Play Keroro RPG
symphonia, and it's not a contest.
Symphonia starts off strong but by the end I was just rolling my eyes at the whole Exsphere/half-elves/Mithos bullshit.
Black person what are you talking about. There are so many good scenes about racism, both for and against it. the game is so good all the way through, if anything it starts slow and only picks up at the tower of salvation where the floor drops out narratively
>the game is so good all the way through
No it really isn't, early game/mid game is where it truly shines, then it drops in quality exactly at the tower of salvation with the Mithos/angels twist. It's probably because he's a dogshit villain but every bit of the game where it isn't about him or the elves is pretty cool, especially the Tethealla parts.
>Look, I love vesperia too, but let's face it, the story is DOGSHIT. like. it's BADDDD.
Pretty funny coming from a man who's defending Symphonia. That game was really repetitive and stupid.
Vesperia had a far more strong message and intent behind its plot. The entire damn thing is a very well structured narrative about personal justice.
I like how Lloyd casually did much more ruthless shit in his game than anything Yuri ever did, but Yuri gets shit for it and Lloyd doesn't.
bro the hot/cold coffee wasn't that barbaric, you're being a bit hyperbolic
You joke, but that scene showed Lloyd as really clever.
Vesperia and its not close
Not that one. Boring and an annoying cast. Legendia is better than Apiss:
Designs? Zesteria.
Gameplay? Abyss.
I have never seen a combo mad made from Apiss, Vesperia on the other hand.
That's because Vesperia was the first game to actually start going in on combo potential.
Abyss was more about positioning, that's why FoF fields were the focus.
last time I played a tales games was on the snes, what should I play now?
I cannot, for the life of me, understand why anyone would prefer Symphonia over Abyss or Vesperia. Abyss in particular is just a straight upgrade over Symphonia in every way.
Vesperia had some nice twins.
Yeah the second one.
I want to see Flynn aggressively correcting this b***h (anally).
Vesperia's OP still gets me.
for me it's Abyss
god that song is so good, even the instrumental NA version is good
Zestiria the X's opening is a guilty pleasure.
Shit anime, but a good opening.
In a few hours
TALES OF GRACES F XILLIA DESTINY PORT
TALES OF PHANTASIA REMAKE

I'm just worried they frick up gurren lagann by announcing a sequel
Don't jinx it moron
>TALES OF GRACES F XILLIA DESTINY PORT
>.H-ACK! NEW REMASTER
I need it.
Estelle a cutest
Meanwhile you could have dressed her as an escort to seduce guards while Yuri watched.
You just know she wants to be double teamed by Yuri and Flynn at the same time.
When is the Namco thingy again?
>SOPHIE FOR TEKKEN 8
this would be really fricking funny and also based, both of which are Harada's wheelhouse
Literally nothing will be announced.
They promised new announcements
Don't believe their lies.
Vesperia is really fricking ugly without the mod that disables all the bloom and DoF. Without it, it becomes has a timeless aesthetic that will still look good in 50 years.
You are joking but Sophie fights with her punches right? She would fit
>SOUL CALIBUR 7
I'll cum but what are you talking about btw. Is there a showcase?
Funny how Hearts R is still vita only some many games even namco games got port but not hearts R
i wonder if is true that is because sony owns the game translation
Bamco is just dont care about their anime games unless its from the big 3 anime (Naruto, One Piece, Dragon Ball)
BIG PIXELATED CHIBI breasts
Best girl
xillia 2 and graces f
if you play a videogame for any reason other than the gameplay you are actually a woman
You just posted it.
Can't decide between Abyss and Phantasia.
Symphonia and Vesperia aren't even close, so I'd say the second place is Destiny DC.
Phantasia PS1 was quite the ride. Battle mechanics were screwy as hell, coming from Symphonia and Abyss but I still loved it.
Playing co-op makes things way more enjoyable, too.
I kinda want to play through Graces F again
Same. Last time, I did a Cheria run and she was better than I thought. Maybe I'll frick around with Sophie since I wasn't ever really able to get a good feel for her.
Best girl Miyeon!
Sex with Rinwell and Kisara
I really liked Innocence R. I don't know what it was about that game, but I just found the characters endearing, the plot to be pretty interesting, the gameplay to be fun (even when I was breaking it by mid game) the world to be somewhat big and interesting to explore for a DS turned Vita games and just enjoyed the hell out of it.
It also emulated really well on the Vita emulator, although a few lines in the fan translation really took me out of the game world sometime.
Abyss and Symphonia are in my top 3 for sure, but I think that one is my favourite.
Wait, the TL is done? Shit, gotta get this one then.
Yeah, but be warned. It is a modern fan translation.
>yee yee ass beard
For frick's sake. At least the skits have voices so I'll get the gist of it.
Sorry, there are sections where you'll need to read it too.
Oh, for frick's sake.
Well, the editing tools are out there, so I guess I'll just have to unfrick it myself.
Please do, it annoyed the hell out of me when I played it.
Okay, that is hilarious. Immersiom-breaking but hilarious. Kind of reminds me of Project X Zone 2 and Natsu talking like a modern-day valley girl despite being from a ninja from feudal Japan. The difference is that was the official translation that someone signed off on
She talks like a valley girl because she's a gyaru.
Hermana talks like a valley girl because she's a literal homeless street rat who talks with a cartoonishly strong kansai accent in the JP script
Kids speak like that in every generation
Downloading Anki right now.
surely these are shoops
I sadly assure you they exist and I documented every one I came across.
Does anyone know if vita emulator work for deck? Also where to find vita games without dolphin porn
Thanks a lot anon!
No problem, I'm not sure if pkgj is exactly where I got the game from since I don't even remember how I made it work but I downloaded it back when I wanted to play and it's what the ROM&ISO wiki says to use so I'm sure it works.
Because it feels like going on a adventure and i glad it got a translation more people need to play this game
Why did Rays have to be shut down in the west for those fricking worthless gachas that came after it.
I would say its a toss up between Phantasia, Symphonia, The Abyss, and Vesperia. They're all good anime RPGs that start off feeling cookie-cutter but get better some ways into each game. Keep in mind that each game is very much a product of its time.
Which Tales protagonist has the best waifu?
Vesperia has one of the most awful story and antagonist cast and the gameplay that only get fun 30 hours in, anyone who think it's even close to being the best is fricking delusional
It's babby's first Tales.
Eternia
God how old is this image and how is it such a timeless classic
>I WHO DWELL IN THE ABOUNDING LIGHT OF HEAVEN
>DAMN I MUST BE A GENIUS DOUBLE DEMON FANG
Gameplay wise I enjoyed Xillia 2 the most. The protag was a one man machine I didn't even care about my party in the team and enjoyed the style switching
Tales of Maj'Eyal
downloading tales of aries right now.
why do people hate it?
played through it and finished it last week
id say its ok outside of
>bosses and big enemies are fricking awful dogshit
>story shits the bed in the last 20%
>human """"""""""villian"""""""""" may as well not even exist, hes basically there at the end because "oh yeah series staple is the final boss is human/humanoid"
My Dick says Zestiria
My Brain says Symphonia 1
Zestiria isnt that bad
OK but what is the overarching theme of the Tales of franchise?
Irresponsible use of natural resources.
Racism.
Replicas should have certain rights revoked, like freedom of speech, or life
tales of berseria, everyone ITT can suck my wiener if in disagreement
i remember watching my younger bro playing this and the plot having revealing the mc was a clone of the real MC or something like that
There's more going on down the rabbit hole.
Auldrant is a pretty horrible place to live on, especially with the people relying on the Score to insane degrees.
spoil me since i dont have plan to play it
The Score is basically God's predictions of the future written on stone essentially.
A whole bunch of convoluted side switching with the concept of free will and cloning along with betrayals and a metric frickton of people AND clones dying and it just gets worse after the main party found out that Auldrant is actually a hollow shell of the world where the continents are actually miles above the surface the actual world, which is a poisonous infinite sea of mud and miasma.
>where the continents are actually miles above the surface the actual world, which is a poisonous infinite sea of mud and miasma.
how does this work?
Church is evil and the baddies goes full hitler something like that
Why didn't you play together? It has co-op...
Which Tales character who got most bodycount ?
Why is Zestiria so fricking bad?
Because Hideo Baba's reign of cash cow tyranny from 2007 to 2015. Zestiria was his final game before getting kicked out.
The only thing he did for Vesperia was be a token brand manager promoting the game.
Not enough Edna
Imagine if the story is revolves around Edna
I don't know if is worth playing for her
It isn't. Just listen to the Go Shiina tunes.
Oh if he made the soundtrack it's probably worth playing. Sakuraba is great when he cares(dark souls, Baten Kaitos, Phantasia) but when it comes to Tales of it seems he doesn't care that much.
He only composed like 10 songs in Zesty. Sakuraba made most of it.
aha
Use trainer or 100% save to skip the grind and you can go like this
It was forced out before it was finished. Most likely to sell back the finished product as DLC or a straight up re-release. It was also inteded to be the first of a trilogy, but didn't bother to properly anniynce that.
Zestiria 3 never ever
Curious why zesteria is hated, I love that game
You just want to jerk off to Edna, not the game
But I’m gay 🙁
lol gay
Ya 🙂
Nobody actually likes zesteria
Even Ednagays hate Zestiria
Sex with Alisha and Lailah
You've posted it. The 3DS version is cool too since you can make your party use abilities using the touchscreen.
I like Arise.
Hearts R. Probably the best combat system in the series, a cute cast (a tales game where i don't want to murder MC's rival!), and a pure, dumb, entertaining shounen story full of horny antics.
still not gotten the female swinsuits. should get around that someday.
Judith is perfect.
Announcement today, r-right?
Zestiria Remake and Zestiria 3
Trust the plan
Perish
>read the thread
>Another anon misunderstanding the characters in Abyss
Every time.
okay where is tales games on switch
most bad thing you can do for your franchise is not release games onto switch
There's that Symphonia "remaster" port and Vesperia: DE (port).
i don't want to play this shitty games. i want Eternia, Graces f, Abyss maybe, Hearts R, or some new ones.
Zestiria had its potential anon
And every e-girlcons / Fujos / NTRgays loved it
Zestiria will have its redemption arc like No Man Sky and Cyberpunk 2077
going by this thread there's a supposed showcase today?
is it just bandai namco?
when and where is it?
Any stream ?
It's in like 7 hours, check the anime expo streams to keep upto date
Cant wait for the disappointment !
symphonia 60fps or symphonia PC?
Be honest, is Arise any good?
Xillia is garbo.
For me, it's Abyss
Hello.
Sex with Rita
Thank you for your attention.
berseria because the boss theme slaps hard
Tales of Inconsistent Heightillia
I want to handle elise in a very properly way, gently and frick the shit out of her.
Sharing Edna's cute petite hebe body
Nope im not an ednagay, i have another e-girl for zestiria.
sexo
Berseria is the best that I have played but I haven't played a lot of them.
How many hours until Bamcos event ?
Five and a half hours from now.
The one in your picture. Symphona and Berseria are second best.
Realistically what will we got from Bamco stream
Nothing Tales related I can assure you.
You posted it
How did they pass the CERO rating to PG13
Man the series really needed a Xillia 3 to bring it all together.
Patty you're my friend
God she literally asking for it no wonder she got so much porn
What is the best version for Symphonia? Gamecube or PS3?
PS3 has more content, techs and is more difficult because enemies received new attacks.
Thanks.
Tales of the Abyss.
The ending always makes me tear up.
Abyss is always the #1 Tales of game in the series polls
Abyss is the only Tales of game to be included in the Top 1000 best video games of all time in Japan. Abyss got the 53 spot.
