No idea, I expected people who accepted 10 to also accept 11 all the same.
I switched from 7 to 10 about 2 years after support for 7 ended, still not a fan of 10 but it's mostly functional at least. I'll definitely try to skip 11, I have no idea how they managed to make it worse but 11 very much feels like a Millenium, Vista, Windows 8 type situation, hope it dies a quick death.
this, I really hope they learned from 8 and vista but we'll have to just wait and see.
>I really hope they learned from 8
Yes, which is why they put out Windows 8.1 in record time.
And that was the last decent version of Windows.
Can't put the taskbar along the side of the screen, only across the top & bottom.
Literally why did they make this a thing? For what purpose would they remove the objectively best and most efficient screen placement as an option?
>objectively best and most efficient screen placement
mental illness
>the objectively best and most efficient screen placement
It's dumb and shit that they removed the option. And I am not defending that. And I will call them out for it.
But come on dude. I get that you might like it. But it's not some objective best of anything.
Take a set-up with multiple screens. Now your horizontal screen real estate stretches over to your other screens. Unless your one of those freakazoids that connect your screens across the vertical. But that'd be insane.
There's no big thing, just couple autists screeching. It's basically w10 but better. Akin to what w8.1 was to w8
>It's basically w10 but better.
It removed shit I actually used. I can no longer move a file by dragging it over the folder I want to put it in in the file address bar. Not a big deal, but still pointless to go out of their way to remove it.
1. Poorgays still using motherboards without TPM 2.0
2. Too stupid to use regedit to change the interface back to Win10 functionality
3. 11 is such an inconsequential change that it isn't really worth the trouble of installing it
isnt TPM 2.0 just literally $10 part you shove in your MB (if you don't have it ib your CPU already)?
It's more like a $30-40 part but yes.
If you still have a CPU without it at this point, though, you're better off just putting that money toward a new CPU.
fTPM exists, what's the point. doesn't every CPU you need for 11 already support this feature? that's the case for and at least. even the win11 unsupported first gen Ryzen has fTPM
>3. 11 is such an inconsequential change that it isn't really worth the trouble of installing it
This one for me. Also autism, because I don't like when someone's forcing me to change something I'm enjoying and have no issues with, and Win11 shilling was pretty aggressive
>2. Too stupid to use regedit to change the interface back to Win10 functionality
Proof? This is not possible
>TPM 2.0
You don't even need TPM you Black person
Get one! Also,
>not checking the last 2 boxes
Why?
>>not checking the last 2 boxes
>Why?
Why would you want to carry over anything from your previous install? Any person who's not moronic preferable wipes everything between installs
All it carries over is creating a user account and making sure your locale is right. No settings or files are copied. It saves a good 10 minutes of shit that's useful unless you plan on using that image to roll out to multiple people (and then I would network install anyway).
>hvci enabled
Good goy! Use the Windows! Do you feel the urge to race mix or become homosexual yet?
Found the linux sissy.
I'll move to 11 whenever I upgrade my 10+ year old hardware
Why would I willingly install Windows 11 on my computer, even if it was capable of running it? Why would I WANT ads on my taskbar and search window, and Explorer obfuscated to hell and back? I don't get it.
pajeet thread, just ignore
You can install Windows 11 without TPM 2.0 since day one. The only ones who still think Win11 is bad are lazy brainless subhumans who dont know how to optimize it like . Even for the lazy all they need to do is download DoNotSpy11
You haven't convinced me why I would want it.
In fact, you're doing a great job of doing the exact opposite.
I've never gotten a single ad on Windows 11. I have gotten ads on Windows 10, though.
You have not gotten ads on windows 11 yet*
Why would they not put ads in windows 11?
you are quite literally creating a hypothetical situation and then using that as your argument for the present reality. why would anyone genuinely engage you in dialogue?
>what's the big deal?
You know what the big deal is? The fact that this dogshit update is pushed down our throats and I CAN'T EVEN FRICKING INSTALL IT SUCCESSFULLY WITHOUT IT FAILING. IMAGINE BEING A MULTI TRILLION DOLLAR COMPANY AND YOU CAN'T EVEN PUSH OUT WORKING UPDATERS.
>try to upgrade from windows 10 to windows 11 using the windows updater thing in the OS
>downloading... installing... sorry something went wrong chud!!
>alright...
>download microsoft's separate windows 11 media creation tool to "upgrade"
>downloading... installing... oops something went wrong chud!!!
>do sfc /scannow and repair all corrupt files (why the frick are there corrupt files in the first place)
>ok... surely it works now
>downloading... installing... blue screen where it starts installing... ok.... 99%.... 100%....
>popup saying Windows 11 installation failed with error code
>search up error code
>unknown error usually from microsoft's end
>frick this shit I'm just gonna continue with windows 10
What a fricking garbage, shitty, dogshit, pajeet-ified pile of horeshit of a company. I swear if I wasn't lazy I would've switched to troonix by now.
>I swear if I wasn't lazy I would've switched to troonix by now.
I did for a while and don't listen to the shills, it's still not worth the additional hassle.
It's a lot of work to do the same shit as Windows can, and it has a lot of hair-pulling shitty moments, but dammit linux at least WORKS when you do something that you know would work. Like I don't get how the FRICK can upgrading to a new windows version not work despite the fricking company nonstop shilling that shit for the past 3 years.
There's all kinds of moronic reasons. Windows is a fricking mess.
This is an example from back in the XP days, but upgrading from service pack 2 to 3 would fail inexplicably due to a registry setting. The setting in question was some random ass one involving some random ass radio application that had nothing to do with anything critical, important, somewhat neccessary, or even mildly interesting.
That's the design philosophy windows works on. They might've rebuilt a lot of shit from the ground up in 11, but their practices aren't changed any from the last three decades. It's just far, far better at failing gracefully instead of crash and burning.
>every next iteration of windows is worse, spies more on you, forces more adware on you and uses more moronic interface because some pajeet needed to prove his 'contributions'
>normaltards like OP advertise and slurp it so much anyway that Microdick is now considering subscription for wangblows
have a nice day, you'll make material plane a better place
The fact you needed to preface that with "not that bad" says all.
>windows 8.1 isn't that bad
>windows 10 ltsc isn't that bad
>windows 11 isn't that bad
You are here.
>windows 12 isn't that bad
>windows 8.1 isn't that bad
I've been saying this since day one.
>windows 10 ltsc isn't that bad
Yes.
>windows 11 isn't that bad
Never thought this.
>windows 12 isn't that bad
it's a subscription model so no.
Windows 11 is slightly less flat/minimalist than 10 so it's the superior of the two
It's just the normal Windows cycle. People did the same with most previous versions.
The weird thing is that 10 and 11 are equally as shit as each other, no idea why people are upset. Zoomers first time?
Anyway, I'll be sticking to Windows 7.
XP was nice.
Didn't install Vista.
7 was good.
8 was unnecessary and was effectively a fever dream.
10 is good.
11 is unnecessary, like the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
>10 was good
>8.1 forgotten
bros...
8.1 is basically pre-release 10 but more stable / less bullshit. The start menu sucked wiener as well.
No point using it when 7 existed.
I’m waiting for the unpozzed edition
>unpozzed
>windows vista and above
Marginally less pozzed
Shill thread. Evacuate immediately.
I miss Windows 95
I don’t, it was shit and crashed all the time
7 really was peak windows
>What's the big deal?
-shitty UI that isnt uniform across all menus
-constantly nudges you for a microshit account
-been trending towards locking more features behind "pro", i remember i couldnt set up a network share on a cheap desktop pc i bought back in windows 10 days, it came with home and i needed pro
-its buggier than even windows 8 was
-ads for services i dont use, telemetry i cant trust is off if i turn it off
My biggest problem is they got rid of the volume mixer
Have to use a gay command to access it
>right click volume icon on taskbar
>click the "Open volume mixer" option
i can't believe there are still people using windows 11 without ExplorerPatcher
You can restore the old volume with a reg key
>year is 2024
>people still b***hing about a new release of Windows
le so le tiresome
The people you see bashing Windows so hard are 95% Linux users and 5% Apple users who will die on the Linux/Apple hill regardless of what year it is.
Bro I've never used Linux outside of work, and frick ever doing that. That being said, the past 2-3 updates have sucked ass. And some others before it. I always wait until the last possible shut down to update, hoping they hotfixed their shit. Been working out so far after I've learned my lesson.
Just get windows 10 LTSC, disable updates and don't worry about anything until they release dx13.
Only if you don't care about new software / games.
Not until Windows 11 LTSC comes out, Chen
There's almost zero reason to switch from 10 to 11
The only thing I can think of, is that you can run android app on 11 natively without emulation, which can be useful for debugging if you're making an android app, but that's it
Shitposting from my W7
I am used to it but it has a bunch or useless shit if you don't use a touch screen. Oddly getting a Rog Ally is why I noticed this.
its everything wrong
Is this what outsourcing and pajeetmaxxing look like?
I want to format all drives while moving to 11 but I have too much stuff (mostly games that I'll never have time to play).
Don't have a backup drive?
I mean shit, if it's mostly games, that's easy enough to copy to a new install.
I have one which was my boot (and only) drive on my previous PC then I probably switched to ssd + that hdd for a new build and without formatting it so I had to give access permission to myself for folders first etc. It works fine but I feel like it might have something wrong that isn't really noticable due to years of use.
Why are you not using Windows 7?
Let me guess, as a white man you'll switch to W11 LTSC in 2033?
because of DX12 bullshittery, I'd still be on W7 if I could put it there
11 reduced input delay in borderless windowed and remembers window positions when monitors reconnect
No reason, for me to stay on 10, I will be switching to linux for my main boot after 11 though.
>I will be switching to linux for my main boot after 11 though
Why not now?
Because he'll never do it. A few years ago, he said he would do it after Windows 10; in a few years, he'll promise to do it after Windows 12.
>What's the big deal? Windows 11 is really not that bad. Been gaming on it for years.
It's not made for tinkering. The four times I've installed it, it ended in a terminal issue needing a reinstall within days. The difference with 11 is that with it, it is no longer your computer.
if you pay to use your own computer you should be sacrificed, your opinion on anything does not matter, you are not human
Windows 12 will be subscription-only, right?
Vocal minorities are like vegans or trannies or linux users, always the loudest. W10 and W11 both just werk.
>What's the big deal? Windows 11 is really not that bad. Been gaming on it for years.
I don't know, it depends what you use it for and what ther alternatives are. Maybe someone has a line they wont cross to use their OS: Mine was linking my operating system to an online account like on Mac. Luckily, Rufus was quick to allow you to make USB media that dont require an online account. I use linux for most things and have a Windows install for things that I haven't gotten to properly work on the other. The moment Microsoft crack down on OS usage without online connection or start charging for it then Im out for good.
>install w11
>print screen now opens snipping tool
who the frick asked for this if I wanted to use snipping tool I would open it and not use the print screen key fricking moron OS
>b-but you can change it
Don't fricking care its moronic that it comes this way by default and it's a hassle changing it
but anon think of the normalgays who don't know how the printscreen key works!
>install linux or W10
>printscreen doesn't open the snipping tool
What kind of homosexual primitive shit is this?
I just take phone pictures of my screen diagonally.
I use printscreen key every day every hour. No way are you telling me they fricked around with it
I installed Linux on an older rig with a 1070 in it. Girlfriend wanted to play some games on a pc for the first time in 8 years so I looked into getting stuff running in the spare.
Got steam installed after 2 minutes of reading. Got little nightmares installed after reading how proton works. Controller was plug and play.
At this point I might just swap off windows and go to some variant of linux once 10 stops getting support. Tried elden ring on proton on a 1070 and it ran great.
i'm not upgrading
my gf did and not only asks for new updates every two days, but the OS really dislikes browser shockwavebased elements
>other people who use stuff that I don't want any part of still makes everything worse for me in the end
