I agree. >utilises actual tactics. >has magic effect synergies >slow motion fatalities >freeze an enemy and crush is with your warrior >fuse fire and electric storm >put 2 runes together to paralyze the entire battlefield >EPIC fight with a dragon within a lightning fire storm while your warrior grabs on to it's head and does a badass flip to plunge the sword into it's eye
>Literal Magic Titans living in the core of Thedas >Solas was genuinely shocked at their existence >Have literal guns
They will never be mentioned again.
Deep Roads were far and away the most atmospheric area with the best narrative, and I never understood why people got frustrated with them. Even on my first playthrough they didn't feel particularly long or confusing.
The furry forest, on the other hand, was about twenty times as long as it deserved to be, and incredibly boring all the way through.
>oppressive tunnels filled with monsters >the lost glory of a fallen empire expressed through defiled thaigs and abandoned roads ones stretching for miles in every direction >the legion of the dead holding the darkspawn back in a futile, eternal effort >the journals of the expedition falling to cannibalism and corruption
Everything about the Deep Roads oozed atmosphere.
It's fights against Darkspawns, they are the most boring part of the game cause you fight them over and over and over again. At least the werewolves were new and interesting opponents.
>At least the werewolves were new and interesting opponents >Overwhelm >Overwhelm >Overwhelm >Overwhelm >Overwhelm
No thanks. Also, the forest looked like dogshit, even back then.
Personally, I know I'm a Dwarf at heart, I fricking love mountains, I love underground exploration, I love Arx Fatalis and anything else like it. Orzammar was so fricking cool, I just wish there was more of it. Exploring the Deep Roads, the abandoned thaigs, worrying about darkspawn and other unknown creatures dwelling there in the dark.
It's the only good thing about the shitshow that was Inqusition. The Descent DLC had me going wild, and then shit ended and back to Elf shit we go.

based and Deep-pilled. I don't really give a shit about the mages and templars having a dindu competition, I want to fricking kill Darkspawn in the depths of the earth surrounded by the bones of a shattered empire.
This, there was certainly more they could have done with it but what's there is cool. It certainly did a good job of hammering home just how monstrous and twisted the darkspawn are supposed to be, which is partly why I immediately hated DA2 so much. You go from the horrible creatures you see being born in the Deep Roads in DA:O to these gangly googly skeleton zombies that were so ridiculous I genuinely thought they were placeholders and the game just wasn't finished.
ANOTHER WAVE!!! >I genuinely thought they were placeholders and the game just wasn't finished
kek same
I was literally "b-but it's just a demo" posting at the time. Game cured me of my biodronism when it came out
The transition from dark fantasy to high fantasy with some icky moments killed the series for me. Like how am I supposed to take inquisition seriously when they're too afraid to do desire demons? That's the demon that's obviously gonna tempt and frick up most people like in the first game.
the downgrade from Origins to 2 is fricking amazing; it must have taken a great deal of effort to frick up designs as bad as they did and not just the darkspawn themselves but all the fricking armour became pointy shit and has remained so.
I never understood why Deep Roads were commonly disliked. You go down underground where the darkspawn live, to slaughter darkspawn in the darkspawn slaughtering game. What's not to like?
Now fade can go to hell.
DA:O is an interesting game. I know it's good, I know I played it all the way through multiple times, and I know I enjoyed it. But when I go through the game in my mind, the only part I still look forward to is Orzammar. Everything else feels like a part I'd rather skip.
First, second and third thing is Morrigan, then the lore that was promising and then the soundtrack.
I love DA:O but at the same time the meme about every area being "that area" is also true. It's carried by the characters 100%.
Well you know, when replaying a game and you remember how annoying a certain area was and you kinda dread getting to that part. In DA:O every area is that area.
All those tumblr posters people made fun of became part of the game industry and basically took over. Then there's morons like Gaider who no longer had people to keep him in check and went all out with his fetishes.
DA4 is going to be shit, isn't it? No sexy, no freedom, only shitty non-choices like MEA. I can't imagine Western AAA company letting their devs put a baby-sacrificing scenario or all the other cool moral dilemma in DAO into that game. It's unthinkable.
I just don't want to accept that we will never get another roleplaying video game that isn't afraid to present moral controversy and political incorrectness like DAO ever again at this point. MEA scripts were horrible and forgettable but I'm sure it's going to be template for DA4.
>DA4 is going to be shit, isn't it?
The only question is whether you’ll (you in the general sense) enjoy it in spite of it being shit, I don’t think anyone has faith it’ll turn out well and who can blame us?
NTA, but I really don't think I'll ever play it. I forced myself to finish Inquisition and it was not worth it.

He means the unofficial patch.. and the fact that the game tends to corrupt your save if you save anywhere in Denerim. I'd advise a secondary save for when you have to go there

The patch is key… i also believe having a certain setting above medium triggers it as well. Shadows maybe?
Human warrior so you can have Tim Curry as your family rival.
Casteless dwarf or human noble. Human noble is really intertwined into the last act of the game. Don't bother with wilds elf, it sucks and your origin is basically irrelevant after the prologue.
IMO
Human noble>dwarf noble>elf commoner>dwarf commoner>massive power gap>>>>>mage>=dalish elf
Human noble is super involved with the main plot and feels like the intended character, dwarf noble has a really cool intro, and makes recruiting the dwarves way more interesting, elf commoner has a good start and lets you play the race card, some good interactions with elves and denerim, dwarf commoner has similar strengths to noble, personally I just don’t think it is as interesting, mage is lame and the only saving grace is that mage is the best class in the game, not that important tho as morrigan and wynne exist, dalish lets you call humans slurs but that’s about it
Ok so I don't think I am going to play it anymore. I have a problem. The DLC does not show up. I have the Ultimate Edition on Steam and I have never encountered this problem before. Anyone got any ideas?
Didn't fix my problem unfortunately. Don't know what else to try.

>noble rogue
Did the same, not weird considering you're the second born of a noble family and therefore can generally do whatever the frick you want because Fergus is the proper heir. Also your mom used to be a pirate so you can just rationalize you learned rogue skills from her. Also warrior gameplay in Origins is mind numbingly boring except dual wield warrior.
Meh, they kinda just put everything dexterity related under the rogue category. You can specialize in being a duelist or ranger which would be something perfectly normal for a noble.
IMO

Two mages is the only way to go and Wynne is lame.
Slow as frick, doesnt have crits, built on autoattacking instead of skills and weak in terms of dmg resistance. So you don't have rogue DPS or a tank resistance either, just somewhere in-between
From what I know warrior in general just isn't great as a DPS and two handed warrior is easily the worst because of their slow animation and also not as good at tanking without shield.
>get all the mana regeneration gear >either get some slight mana regen with shimmering shield on or turn it off for a bit to get insane regen and start spamming spells
Kino
I love standing in the middle of a bunch of enemies, auto-attacking the one I just cast virulent walking bomb on

Keep Nathaniel alive, make him a loyal Grey Warden
Have sex with Velanna

Protect Vigil's Keep and Amaranthine without anyone dying
Kill the Architect
Follow Morrigan to the portal
Solas seems to know the 'Old Gods' so I'm guessing they are actually Fade Spirits or some shit.. but yeah, either it's his doing, or its Corypheus' shenanigans sent the Darkspawn into a fervour
>Grey Wardens get about 30 years left of life after their Joining >less so if they join during a Blight >Dreadwolf will take place 20 years after Origins >the Hero of Ferelden is about to fricking die and because BioWare will never ever make him the MC again his unseen quest to stop the Calling will go unfulfilled unless they pull a "with all Archdemons dead the taint stops affecting people" deus ex machina
They don't have an allotted time to start, just when the darkspawn find the sleeping old god and pass the blight onto it.
The first couple of blights happened not long after each other while it has been so long since the fourth by the start of Origins, that most people thought them finished for good. The Architect experiments once he found the Old God maybe fastened his corruption, but it was just a matter of time till it happened anyway.
>have an initial romance with morrigan > break up with her when she thinks she doesn't want to have the romance anymore >start a romance with Leliana >become only friends with Zebran and then have a threesome with him and Isabela >make a pact with Morrigan to have a child with her >bonus as a dwarf noble can have a threesome with two dwarfs at the beginning and get one pregnant
It's a shame they never let me frick Wynne.
>make two sexy grannies >you can't frick with them
fricking BioWare. With Dr. Chakwas I get the idea that in ME2 and ME3 when you start drinking with her you frick her (curiously, Wynne likes to be given wine as gifts, evidently she is based on DR Chakwas)
How mind-numbingly boring the combat is and how fantastic the party banter is. Still to date the most and best quality party banter in a western RPG but holy shit the setting is so fricking dull and the combat god damn there's nothing to fricking do you only get like 5 abilities at most but the game throws so many fricking combat encounters at you.
Black folk. Not actual Black folk, just the word Black folk.
It's retroactively ruined. Worth playing for Morrigan seduction and satisfaction. Pretty much all it has. Small, short game where you don't see much. Dragon Age 2 is ok though even without Morrigan, just for tessellation on rocks at the start and kirkwall pillars, and the dlc which has you join a grey warden in the underground as he succumbs visibly to covid.
>okay time to boot up a new game >skip Ostagar >skip Fade >skip Deep Roads >do all the quests in Lothering >get bored and uninstall the game >repeat a year later
I haven't managed to replay the game in about 10 years
Ostogar is a talking simulator where the dialogue is almost all lore dumps. The quests are boring. Kocari wilds is uninteresting as is the tower to light to beacon
ostagar sets the tone for the entire game
deep roads are kino
this is why youre bored, because youre planning on skipping large chunks of the game. you cant get invested in the world and story.
i played it 4 times across my Xbox 360 and series x and had a blast each time. hardest difficulty too. i don't get how people can't deal with a controller, it's perfectly fine.
to this day I maintain the actual ending is that my Warden and Leliana spend their days alternatively wandering on adventures or lounging in Orzammar/wading through the Deep Roads instead of the Warden fricking off to God-knows-where.
Wasted potential the series.
Seriously who fricking thought Mage v templar and the elves were the best things to focus on?
I'm still befuddled that they went with the mages and templars chimping out instead of a renewed Qunari invasion, or Orlesian Occupation 2.0 or the clean-up from the shitshow of the Blight. Nope, gotta look at the nerds and their wranglers sperging out.
ME1 is a crappy game, anon, don't be fooled by childhood memories. I used to think that ME1 was the best game in the series, but after going through the legendary edition after a five-year break, I was just blown away by how much ME2 is better than ME1 in everything.
It depends on what you value. I think aesthetics did improve in ME2 and combat was improved in a lot of ways, but the story and atmosphere are so much worse.

I prefer the dark atmosphere of Mass Effect 2.
And I like local stories united by one important mission, which I have known about since the very beginning of the game, much more than the idiotic story about the reapers. Bioware fricked up when they reintroduced them to the plot in ME3. This mistake killed the franchise.

reapers are idiotic in 1 because they are built up too strongly. they were never going to live up the expectations
they were "fine" in two because they were absent, and you just fought their peons

Built up too strongly how? The Reaper plan fails and Sovereign dies in the end. They could've ended with that, you're right. It's not the fault of ME1 that the sequels became moronic. >they were "fine" in two
They were a lot worse in two. First you have Harbinger that literally trash talks you during combat like he's on xbox live and can apparently mind control husks FROM OUTSIDE OF THE GALAXY and then you have that Arrival DLC where it turns out Reapers were able to arrive into the galaxy whenever they wanted anyway which invalidates the whole fight in ME1.

The Reapers are the shit that killed the series. This is a fact. Get over it.
In the first game, BioWare took a swing at a story they couldn't tell. They had a chance to turn off this path after Mass Effect 2, as the game did its best to do so. The Reapers are flying to the Milky Way and will fly for another half a millennium. In the meantime, there are much more interesting conflicts in the galaxy.
But BioWare didn't take this chance and told a shitty story about the reapers and thereby killed the series.
Oh yes, Mass Effect 2 is still BioWare's most highly rated game and an admittedly exemplary sequel.

lmao the game revolves entirely around the Reapers, it's all about Reaper second in commands kidnapping background (colonists) you don't give a shit about and entering a Derelict Reaper on your way to fight a giant Reaper Baby and setting up the 'twist' where the Collector Commander was le Reaper all along all to end with Shepard reading about said Reaper on a tablet then defiantly looking out the window to meet the Reapers head on as they arrive to the Milky Way but the game has nothing to do with the Reapers trust >Mass Effect 2 is still BioWare's most highly rated game
And yet again, Fallout 4 is higher rated than New Vegas. Guess we both know which is the better game!

>The story was about dark energy
Except it wasn't. Drew came up with a tons of random ideas in his head for how ME would end, *one of which* was DE which he himself discarded before ME3 started development. At least in the final game, robot squids not wanting organics to die out because organic goo is their equivalent of reproduction makes "some" sense. Dark Energy was: >Reapers realize mass effect fields and biotics are leading to the death of the whole universe so they leave all sorts of mass effect tools around for every future civilization to build off of >to hasten the effect >they don't tell anyone anything about it and no one realizes it >then every 50k years they harvest all sorts of advanced civilizations then disappear so that even if anyone was solving the problem, it's halted and forgotten >and the premise had it reach the point where *time was actually running out*. Several hundred thousands of millions of years and they thought harvesting the most advanced civilizations would solve the problem >reset everything to solve a problem that they don't explain, facilitate to occur, and do nothing themselves to solve
Say what you will about the Crucible but at least it didn't establish *the entire fricking UNIVERSE* as running out of time before its destruction because the Reapers allowed untold millennia of mass effect use. Then there's this
https://www.reddit.com/r/Fantasy/comments/vxd8ea/hello_reddit_im_drew_karpyshyn_scifi_and_fantasy/ >Q: "How would you have concluded the Mass Effect series?" >A: "We had some very rough ideas planned out. Basically, it involved luring the Reapers through the Mass Relays then detonating the entire network to wipe them out... but also destroying/damaging the relays and isolating every galactic community from the others. But we still had to figure out a lot of the details, and there were some issues with that option... like what we would do in the next series of games."

Yes, Mass Effect 2 did everything right. The same should have been done in the following games (there would have been many more). Doing more interesting things, we would simultaneously fight with the minions of the reapers, find traces of their presence, and investigate previous cycles. But their origins, their motives, and their capabilities should NEVER have been revealed.
Dumb artificial intelligences with a mission to kill organics so they don't create synthetics? What idiocy is this! And all they can do is shoot a laser out of their ass and go for a ram. This is a galactic-scale threat!
Mordin admittedly is good buy Legion fricking sucks and the game launches the final mission after you get him so you can barely use him without sacrificing non combat personnel
I don't really know either, I know I hated them on my original playthrough but playing it a year or two ago they ended up being a lot shorter and less annoying than I remember.
But then again this time I actually used a blood mage which is basically ezmode for everything anyway.
The music was fantastic. The original parts were great and so were the ones Inon Zur cribbed off the Last of the Mohicans
Inquisition was just a blatant Howard Shore rip off
I enjoyed it when it came out and it was good for it's time especially since it didn't have the dumbfrick dual morality system that all of Bioware games starting having at that era.
In retrospect the story/universe is kind of bland though.
I want to like this game, I've gotten around 8-10 hours in a few different times, but the combat always puts me off. I don't understand it and feel like I'm doing the rpg equivalent of button mashing.
Do you enjoy MMOs converted into singleplayer games?
God tier reigning champion for character prologue/back stories. The second thing is that I owned da2 for about half an hour total including time to and from gamestop because they completely did away with one of the strongest parts of the first game.
It's somewhat playable on PC if you install a bunch of mods that remove main sources of annoyance like that shitty mobile game tier war table, slow as frick movement speed because they couldn't figure out how to make mounts more than 10% faster than being on foot and giving your BamHa- inquisitor vision an actual range and duration instead of having you spam it every few seconds, among other things.
But honestly, I wasted 100 hours on it and it's really hard to find anything good about it, at best it's just mediocre.
On another note, I hate them for turning Cassandra into some c**t with a literal block head.
You slop-hogs never cease to amuse me. Hundreds of hours taken from you like its nothing. Like it means nothing to you. The psychology of consooming is just unfathomable.

I'm not 'complaining' as much as you are complaining about my questions and i am contributing decidedly more than you have which has amounted to: seething (yes its fair to say you are seething now) and avoiding answering anything i've asked yet still insisting on replying to let me us how much you are seething. Maybe re-read and keep up with the convo before you go pointing that contribution finger.
My meta-convo of consumer behaviour related to a series with only one good game is more on topic than your meta-rant about the state of this board. lel.
You're gonna answer why you played both game 2 and game 3.
No, I mean her actual head, not her character. She's somewhat cute in 2. In Inquisition they gave her a massive jaw making her head look like some block that is too big for her body.
I like it
But then again I like girls with some slight masculine features because it makes plunging your wiener inside them and watching as they melt all the more satisfying
my tomboy autistic wife
unironically enjoyed her romance as a dalish elf

I liked her, but the romance starts as a random conversation in the hallway of her asking you if you've been flirting with her which follows with her saying oh, okay.
I found it to be so underwhelming and disconnected to everything else, that I couldn't go through with it. Outside of Solas, all the Inquisition romances feel so trivial and mundane that there's no actual reason to do them since they add nothing to the story. Even the ones from DA2 felt more involved, at least in terms of how they develop.

its cute, it only gets better from there.

God tier reigning champion for character prologue/back stories. The second thing is that I owned da2 for about half an hour total including time to and from gamestop because they completely did away with one of the strongest parts of the first game.
It comes to my mind if dragon age was so awesome how come the rest of the games suck so much in comparison ?
I mean story wise, nothing ever comes close.
Also replaying it didn't actually worked for me because the game appeal is hugely based on story and once you know it it's not worth playing the 2nd time.
DAO took quite a while to develop. I don't remember how long it took them but it wasn't exactly short. DA2 was shat out in what, 1-2 years, and it shows. I never followed DAI development so I don't know what happened there but given how it plays I guess EA really wanted to chase every possible trend that existed at the time.
Characters standing around splattered with blood during cutscenes, playing a mage and talking to other characters like they're dogshit that needs sprayed off the sidewalk
>Was planning to buy it and play it at some point >Then i got it for free from somewhere but still didn't play it >Now it's too outdated for me to enjoy it even if i did play it
Everyone's got their own limits on how far back in graphical quality they're willing to go. I'm loving the shit out of cod2 and 3 on my xbox this past week but I can understand if other people can't handle it. Each gen with graphical advancements reprograms our brains on what games should look like.
despite its aged gameplay, I will still say it is the epitome of what a rpg story should be. Enough story to be understandable, enough conflict to establish a threat, enough choice to make you feel like you make a difference (whether that is true or not). And enough small plots as you travel to make the world unique.
The into battle of Ostagar goes hard to this day.
And now it is just political squabble shit...
mages were born with the natural right to dominate tevinter shall rise again stronger than ever all of thedas shall be tevinter's domain day x is coming soon and you weaklings will beg to be slaves to the mage master race you will be contained just like we were you will all see the truth when the natural order has been established
Okay bros, what's the final verdict about specialization unlocks
Locking them behind certain choices but then having them unlocked permanently, a good idea?
I didn't mind at the time cause I replayed the game a lot anyway but nowadays it would piss me off cause I don't wanna do 10 replays of every RPG I play
Either have them unlocked from the start or make them playthrough specific. This global unlock system is kinda stupid. Shit like striking a deal with a demon to get blood magic, but then reloading an earlier save to kill it and keep the unlock is moronic.
I like when they're integrated in-game, but that presents some big problems like them being locked too far from your pick the specializations
It's cool that Oghren teaches you how to be a berserker, Alistair a Templar and so on, but a lot of the times it's too late
I like when they're integrated in-game, but that presents some big problems like them being locked too far from your pick the specializations
It's cool that Oghren teaches you how to be a berserker, Alistair a Templar and so on, but a lot of the times it's too late
First character is meant to unlock everything, including those OP equipment and weapons from finishing DLCs
Then your second character can play anything from paragonmaxxxing to buttholemaxxxing
>You have to pick the weapons from the DLCs up on every playthrough
Did they change it?
I remember a decade ago that completing Leliana and Morrigan's DLC will just unlock the items and you'll start with it in any Origins or Awakening save file.
I get that, but without the trainers, the specializations feel hollower
Blood Magic is supposed to be learned from the demon at Redcliffe and it's a pivotal moment where you can sell a little boy's soul for power. Take that away and I guess you just picked up some infernalist powers somewhere. It lacks the impact
I wish I had an answer how to perfectly incorporate specialisations in-game at the correct moment, but the best I can think of is having them be available to players in a starting area like Ostagar and then a secondary one be available in a mid level area like Denerim
It's not very elegant but I think it works
>Blood Magic is supposed to be learned from the demon at Redcliffe and it's a pivotal moment where you can sell a little boy's soul for power.
That would be an excellent argument if you couldn't just reload the save you made right before you said "teach me blood magic, b***h" and still have access to it. At that point you might as well just make it available to anyone or at least hide it away behind a side quest or something.
It makes me think of how far Bioware has fallen. DAO had a generic yet cool setting, but now everything about is about gay sex, mages and elves. All the mystery of the setting is gone because it's revealed that it was elves all along.
Pretty much the same for me, mostly because I tried the forest first when I was playing a solo arcane warrior, and kept getting stunlocked by werewolves using overwhelm
It might not be the most OP in the game, but it's pretty sick. I think it's the third spell in blood magic that affects a wide area, stuns enemies without affecting allies, and deals hefty damage over time. Basically just wipes entire groups of enemies without effort or risk.
Redcliffe first
Mage Circle
Denerim pt1
Orzammar to get Oghren
Denerim pt2, for Zevran/Alistair/Leliana/Sacred Ashes
Treehuggers
Denerim pt3 and final battle
>but it's impossible to keep those c**ts alive without Wynne
I wonder if anyone has ever made their main character a healer. That goes for all RPGs too, not just DA:O
the writing definitely had more edge and oomph to it in 1. 2 had traces of it, even if people want to hate all of it. but everything after that is catastrophe territory
I just got it off from google images. I never knew if it was confirmed in the end or not cause there were a few islands in the Fade that seem to potentially have cities on them.
Anyway, DAI is such a blur to me that I didn't even remember we were apparently on that island at some point.
my theory is that EA expected Bioware to push out games on a year or a two year basis, making old developers and writers frustrated with the state of the company, and leading them to hire new younger fresh-out-of-college trash writers
it was all fun and games up until ME3 where they REALLY received significant backlash, and it seems their studio is completely ruptured since then
Is this the memory thing? Isn't there a patch that fixes that, at least somewhat? That's the only issue I ever used to have. Been a while since I played I guess.
>if you want a really strong longbow you need to save everyone on Redcliffe but not rescue the blacksmith's daughter so he will kill himself and be replaced with another blacksmith who'll sell you the strongest longbow in the game until you do Morrigan's DLC (useless since you get it after beating the DLC)
Replaying this shit there's actually some really cool spells. I didn't even remember that you could turn into a Swarm. It's baffling how they gutted the magic tree in a fantasy RPG with each installment.
>Sera
Who was this character for? Even her supposed intended audience at the time which was Tumblr hated her. When being a dyke wasn't enough to save her from this crowd you know it's bad.
>I suppose he must like your shrieking, you sound like a genlock being murdered—a sweet, sweet sound to a Grey Warden. You should try a little harder next time he takes you. I don't think they heard you in the Anderfels.
She sounds like an animal in heat. No wonder from a dirty savage.
>Alistair >Morrigan >Leliana >mods that allows you to take Barkspawn as a fourth companion
The perfect party. I have never bothered taking any other characters with me
Origins was liquid shit. Literally the start of the age of hardcore woke gay pozz. Game used to get clowned around here when it released. Now look at you thirsty homosexuals licking up every last thick drop. > Muh Morrigan (that totally never fricked dogs..)
Because he lied and said they were betrayed by the wardens and he had to order a retreat to save the rest of the army. Pretty sure they said the wardens actually assassinated cailan. Plenty of people questioned this which is why we had a civil war during a blight.
Because he lied and everyone believed him since everyone died down there except you and Alistair. As for after the game at that point he's either dead or is a Grey Warden traveling away from Ferelden.
Most people don't know the details because even the soldiers weren't aware of the plans, only on following his command, and the soldiers were loyal to Loghain, they would justify the action as necessary rather than deliberately leaving the rest to die. When he told them that the Wardens tried to betray them for the orlesians, they could only accuse him of lying.
It's only at the Landsmeet that you can show exactly what happened to the rest of the nobles.
You have to reject her pleas to have your baby to save your life then order her to have sex with alistair then persuade alistair to frick her. It’s one of those choice they included that nobody legitimately picks outside of shitposters
>oh no my hot edgy witch gf wants to have magic sex with me to save my life >better turn her down and tell her to frick my friend instead >wtf I got cucked
why are you like this
Supposedly a Human Commoner from Redcliffe was planned and made it very far into development before being cut, and before it a Chasind human origin was planned.
The game has a lot of things that were cut because of time and the human commoner is an unfortunate victim of that.
>the tumblr fanbase gaslighted Gaider and Weekes into adding Cullen the prison rapist and serial killer as a companion/romance in Cisquisition to then get his loony VA making a 40 minute long in-character MAGA rant on a video
Getting what they fricking deserve, I see
>unengaging auto-combat >being able to code the behavior of your allies, which wastes your time thinking you can avoid controlling them >giving your companions trash as gifts to speedrun your relationship with them, which is narratively unsatisfying, but you still do it >the best class is bomb throwing >never having any mana to cast anything as arcane warrior >not being able to agree/disagree in certain situations, which leads you to getting railroaded
Sure if you quit 5 minutes into the game. Otherwise I don't see how you at least don't remember some memorable parts, like Ostagar, Deep Roads, including the broodmother, the dragon boss fights etc.
And? The gameplay of ME1 just didn't work. I do not know how crooked the hands must be to die in it at least once at the maximum difficulty level. Easier than ME 1, probably only ME3.
>male human noble warrior >romance morrigan >spirit warrior specialization >name dog Barkspawn >save connor >save eamon >save the mages >save the ashes of andraste >make peace with elves and werewolves >bhelen on the throne >destroy the anvil >dagna leaves for the circle >take grimoire peacefully >retrieve stens sword >reconcile wynne and aneirin >reconcile gheyna and cammen >reconcile oghren and felsi >put ruck down mercifully >put tamlen down mercifully >give templar cookies >avernus research with ethics >harden alistair >harden leliana >have the threesome >have the ritual >unite all of Ferelden >personally kill howe >personally kill vaughan >personally kill marjolaine >persoanlly kill taliesen >personally kill uldred >personally kill jowan >personally kill branka >personally kill kolgrim >personally kill the broodmother >personally kill the archdemon >alistair & anora on the throne >friends with everyone >redeem loghain >side with the architect >fight with the messenger >save both amarathine and vigils keep >hook finn and ariane up >go into the portal with morrigan >sit and watch entire credits to 30 Seconds to Mars This is War
I feel like I'm cheating when I go for arcane warrior nuke mage but it's just so fun. I wish enemies respawned in some places just so I had more stuff to fight.
>'tis no affair of ours, saving these villagers. I say we leave them be. >OH WARDEN YES YES RIGHT THERE DON'T STOP WARDEN DON'T STOP FRICK ME FRICK ME FRICK MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
First, second and third thing is Morrigan, then the lore that was promising and then the soundtrack.
I love DA:O but at the same time the meme about every area being "that area" is also true. It's carried by the characters 100%.
What's the most op build in DAO again? My backstabbing rogue was okay against mooks but she's lackluster when boss fights come up. The dlc bosses in general feel tedious.
>Arcane Warriors can solo the entire game on the highest difficulty without ever dropping below 50% health.
So can any of those
Shit, so can terrible classes with potions
Arcane Warrior so overrated and plays terribly
No they cannot. Rogues are squishy as shit and they can get one shot or stunlocked by a lot of enemies.
Warriors are neither as tanky or as high DPS as AW.
I hate every part of the game when I’m deciding where to go next but once I finally settle on one and actually get there I think each is fun to some degree
Right in the quads
Worse gameplay but better story than BG3.
SOUND the retreat
>2009 game has simpler gameplay than 2023 game
Say it isn't so
DA:O combat is much more enjoyable than BG3.
thats because you are a boomer
I love DA:O but no it does not
I agree.
>utilises actual tactics.
>has magic effect synergies
>slow motion fatalities
>freeze an enemy and crush is with your warrior
>fuse fire and electric storm
>put 2 runes together to paralyze the entire battlefield
>EPIC fight with a dragon within a lightning fire storm while your warrior grabs on to it's head and does a badass flip to plunge the sword into it's eye
It's not turn cringe so it wins by default
Bering rtwpslop is what makes it bad by default
Any game with a gambit system is automatically good, actually.
But RTwP>TB factually
How much I loved the Deep Roads and how I wished there was more of exploration taking place underground.
based
It's the only good thing about the shitshow that was Inqusition. The Descent DLC had me going wild, and then shit ended and back to Elf shit we go.
>Literal Magic Titans living in the core of Thedas
>Solas was genuinely shocked at their existence
>Have literal guns
They will never be mentioned again.
Deep Roads were far and away the most atmospheric area with the best narrative, and I never understood why people got frustrated with them. Even on my first playthrough they didn't feel particularly long or confusing.
The furry forest, on the other hand, was about twenty times as long as it deserved to be, and incredibly boring all the way through.
>Deep Roads were far and away the most atmospheric area
homie it was literally just a generic cookie cutter cave dungeon
>oppressive tunnels filled with monsters
>the lost glory of a fallen empire expressed through defiled thaigs and abandoned roads ones stretching for miles in every direction
>the legion of the dead holding the darkspawn back in a futile, eternal effort
>the journals of the expedition falling to cannibalism and corruption
Everything about the Deep Roads oozed atmosphere.
It's fights against Darkspawns, they are the most boring part of the game cause you fight them over and over and over again. At least the werewolves were new and interesting opponents.
>At least the werewolves were new and interesting opponents
>Overwhelm
>Overwhelm
>Overwhelm
>Overwhelm
>Overwhelm
No thanks. Also, the forest looked like dogshit, even back then.
Mass stun
Not my problem
I found the mabaris much worse in that regard. Playing a fighter was hell when those things could stun you and.take.half your health with them.
Personally, I know I'm a Dwarf at heart, I fricking love mountains, I love underground exploration, I love Arx Fatalis and anything else like it. Orzammar was so fricking cool, I just wish there was more of it. Exploring the Deep Roads, the abandoned thaigs, worrying about darkspawn and other unknown creatures dwelling there in the dark.
based and Deep-pilled. I don't really give a shit about the mages and templars having a dindu competition, I want to fricking kill Darkspawn in the depths of the earth surrounded by the bones of a shattered empire.
Here's your "bones of a shattered empire", bro
absolute kino
this is why its forgettable
the entire section of the game looks like that
yeah thats the one thing i hate about Origins and its the constant copy and pasted assets all over even in places where it makes no sense.
That's the demon that's obviously gonna tempt and frick up most people like in the first game.
the downgrade from Origins to 2 is fricking amazing; it must have taken a great deal of effort to frick up designs as bad as they did and not just the darkspawn themselves but all the fricking armour became pointy shit and has remained so.
graphic design isn't what made 2 worse
But it helped
I never understood why Deep Roads were commonly disliked. You go down underground where the darkspawn live, to slaughter darkspawn in the darkspawn slaughtering game. What's not to like?
Now fade can go to hell.
Every area feels like "that" level
DA:O is an interesting game. I know it's good, I know I played it all the way through multiple times, and I know I enjoyed it. But when I go through the game in my mind, the only part I still look forward to is Orzammar. Everything else feels like a part I'd rather skip.
what area meme are you talking about
Well you know, when replaying a game and you remember how annoying a certain area was and you kinda dread getting to that part. In DA:O every area is that area.
Still the best western RPG in the 15 years
Sten's cookies
Wandering around the Korcari Wilds killing darkspawn and hunting for Chasind treasure so I can put Leliana in a skimpy outfit when I meet her.
I love DAO Morrigan so much it's unreal
Do you fear barbarians will swoop down upon you?
Made for big barbarian wiener
Based. She awakened something in kid me. Gave me a type for the rest of my life.
Morrigan influenced an entire GENERATION of young men
Can't believe this kind of design becomes extinct in merely ten years. What the frick has come over the westoids?
All those tumblr posters people made fun of became part of the game industry and basically took over. Then there's morons like Gaider who no longer had people to keep him in check and went all out with his fetishes.
DA4 is going to be shit, isn't it? No sexy, no freedom, only shitty non-choices like MEA. I can't imagine Western AAA company letting their devs put a baby-sacrificing scenario or all the other cool moral dilemma in DAO into that game. It's unthinkable.
you don't even need to ask, and if you are willing to try it out you're already lost
>I forced myself to finish Inquisition and it was not worth it
That seems to be how most people felt. I don’t expect the next game to sell well because of it
disgusting mod
its the voice, raspy but not too much
Does this game still work in W11 and with a 1440p monitor?
Of course
Yeah, but I'd advise you to download the fix mod.. it else it's gonna crash like fricking crazy. And for the love of god. DON'T SAVE IN DENERIM
>Yeah, but I'd advise you to download the fix mod
What?
>DON'T SAVE IN DENERIM
Why? Any location? Outside or inside?
He means the unofficial patch.. and the fact that the game tends to corrupt your save if you save anywhere in Denerim. I'd advise a secondary save for when you have to go there
>and the fact that the game tends to corrupt your save if you save anywhere in Denerim.
This never happened to me and I usually save every 5 minutes. Guess I was just lucky
How recent was your last playthrough? Because I did one a few months ago and it happened four times
last year I think. Could anything have changed since then? I played it a few times and every time I would get that 4gb patch and iirc I would also make the game only use 1 core of the processor and it always ran fine.
>every time I would get that 4gb patch
That's why you never saw it. I had forgotten about it
Yeah first time I played the game I didn't know about the patch and it would crash again and again on some bridge at the beginning of the game. After getting the patch, everything went smooth
The patch is key… i also believe having a certain setting above medium triggers it as well. Shadows maybe?
Kino
One of the last good Fantasy RPGs
Camp theme
Grey Warden
Still so good
Damn I gotta replay it for the 4th time. What should I play this time? So far I've played a human mage, a dwarf noble and a city elf.
Go Human Warrior. It fits the best because you get to really give it to Loghain and Howe
Ok guys Imma play a human noble warrior. Thanks!
Ok so I don't think I am going to play it anymore. I have a problem. The DLC does not show up. I have the Ultimate Edition on Steam and I have never encountered this problem before. Anyone got any ideas?
what do you mean it doesnt show up? like in the menu screen or in-game?
https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Dragon_Age:_Origins#Enable_DLC_on_the_Steam_version
Thanks. I will try this
In the menu. I click on other campaigns and the list is empty
Didn't fix my problem unfortunately. Don't know what else to try.
Now it simply crashes in the main menu. So weird. Never had issues with the game before. Could it be windows 11? Had 10 the last time I played it
it didn't crash and i managed to open a campaign even though it's name didn't appear on the list but it crashed. I have changed my opinion on this game. It's the biggest piece of shit
Works on m machine
Just install windows 7. Problem solved.
might try the gog version tomorrow if I'll still feel like replaying the game.
Human warrior so you can have Tim Curry as your family rival.
Casteless dwarf or human noble. Human noble is really intertwined into the last act of the game. Don't bother with wilds elf, it sucks and your origin is basically irrelevant after the prologue.
I think pretty much everyone pick human noble first playthrough. Mine is weird, a noble rogue lol.
Isn't mage its own origin?
You can specialize in being a duelist or ranger which would be something perfectly normal for a noble.
my first playthrough was a female city elf
IMO
Human noble>dwarf noble>elf commoner>dwarf commoner>massive power gap>>>>>mage>=dalish elf
Human noble is super involved with the main plot and feels like the intended character, dwarf noble has a really cool intro, and makes recruiting the dwarves way more interesting, elf commoner has a good start and lets you play the race card, some good interactions with elves and denerim, dwarf commoner has similar strengths to noble, personally I just don’t think it is as interesting, mage is lame and the only saving grace is that mage is the best class in the game, not that important tho as morrigan and wynne exist, dalish lets you call humans slurs but that’s about it
>mage is lame and the only saving grace is that mage is the best class in the game, not that important tho as morrigan and wynne exist
Two mages is the only way to go and Wynne is lame.
grease+earthquake+fireball or firestorm
Blizzard+electric storm
sleep+nightmare
Let me play a mage femHawke in DAO and I will play your game again
ENCHANTMENT
How dogshit that gameplay was.
t. Pure 2H Warrior
It's by far the worst class after archer
Why exactly is it so fricking bad
Slow as frick, doesnt have crits, built on autoattacking instead of skills and weak in terms of dmg resistance. So you don't have rogue DPS or a tank resistance either, just somewhere in-between
From what I know warrior in general just isn't great as a DPS and two handed warrior is easily the worst because of their slow animation and also not as good at tanking without shield.
Skill issue
>He didn't solo Urthemiel as a two-handed warrior, wearing the Warden Commander Armour with Starfang
rogue was kino
The last great RPG made by Bioware and USA in general.
You don't play a single class in DA:O, you play a party.
>he didn't start as a mage and spec into arcane warrior
>get all the mana regeneration gear
>either get some slight mana regen with shimmering shield on or turn it off for a bit to get insane regen and start spamming spells
Kino
I love standing in the middle of a bunch of enemies, auto-attacking the one I just cast virulent walking bomb on
That I wasted 50€ back in the day and didn't like the game.
arcane warrior
CAN I GET YOU A LADDER?
SO YOU CAN GET OFF MY BACK
Memory leak that caused saves to be corrupted so you couldn't finish the game.
Top RPGs of all time. Everyone who scoffs at it loses credibility.
The sad state of the gaming industry since im tired of replaying this shit
The most fun class is dual dagger rogue.
Big crits, fast attacks and good survivability at midgame.
Brown teeth.
After that, sequel memes.
What the frick were they thinking by showing that as the first ever DA2 screenshot online
Thicker blanket.
Dwarf noble
Aeducans rule, Harrowmonts drool
ENCHANTMENTS?!
The boy's a bit simple
NOOOO YOU CAN'T DO THAT IN 2024 IT'S OFFENSIVE REEEEEEEEE
hey don't call the maker of everything a simpleton
That's not even a compelling theory
Morrigan disapproves but I want to frick her goth pussy

I liked using this mod a lot, it allows me to set my character with the initial stats and powers that I want
there was one that gives Barkspawn a separate party member slot so you can take him and 3 other members with you
i used dozens of mods

why are you gay?
Really..? That tipped you off, not the foursome with the gay?
>one last Blight
>it's on Dreadwolf
KWAB
Are they really gonna trigger a Blight merely 15 years after the last one ended, in the same Age? Sounds ludicrous
Solas seems to know the 'Old Gods' so I'm guessing they are actually Fade Spirits or some shit.. but yeah, either it's his doing, or its Corypheus' shenanigans sent the Darkspawn into a fervour
Dreadwolf is actually take place from 9:50 to 9:52, one of the stories released hinted at it
The rumour is Dumat is going to be resurrected and it'll be a 3 way fight between him and the remaining Archdemons
>Grey Wardens get about 30 years left of life after their Joining
>less so if they join during a Blight
>Dreadwolf will take place 20 years after Origins
>the Hero of Ferelden is about to fricking die and because BioWare will never ever make him the MC again his unseen quest to stop the Calling will go unfulfilled unless they pull a "with all Archdemons dead the taint stops affecting people" deus ex machina
Just put my soul in the Anvil of the Void and turn me into a golem, that's what my exit plan was in the first place
Didn't the fifth blight kick off too early because the architect was fricking around with creating smart darkspawn.
There are two more old gods left
mass effect was better
I should go.
You should never announce your plan, even when leaving a conversation, it shows weakness
Sten was the hero we needed but didn't deserve.

>ME trilogy remake

>DA trilogy remake

it is known
of course, DA shat the bed directly after the first entry, funnily enough from trying to copy ME.
ME despite its numerous flaws is a solid trilogy
>have an initial romance with morrigan
> break up with her when she thinks she doesn't want to have the romance anymore
>start a romance with Leliana
>become only friends with Zebran and then have a threesome with him and Isabela
>make a pact with Morrigan to have a child with her
>bonus as a dwarf noble can have a threesome with two dwarfs at the beginning and get one pregnant
It's a shame they never let me frick Wynne.
>no Wynne
>no Dr. Chakwas in ME
Surely Bioware hates GILFs
>make two sexy grannies
>you can't frick with them
fricking BioWare. With Dr. Chakwas I get the idea that in ME2 and ME3 when you start drinking with her you frick her (curiously, Wynne likes to be given wine as gifts, evidently she is based on DR Chakwas)
sex
Kino
Also sex with Morrigan
How mind-numbingly boring the combat is and how fantastic the party banter is. Still to date the most and best quality party banter in a western RPG but holy shit the setting is so fricking dull and the combat god damn there's nothing to fricking do you only get like 5 abilities at most but the game throws so many fricking combat encounters at you.
>be in Redcliffe
>always ask for kisses from peasant wenches just to make Leliana and Morrigan seethe
Based
This is how one Grey Wardens
Now they should let me have sex with my hot sister in the sequel
>go to the brothel
>frick women
>frick men
>frick trannies
>frick nugs
>have things inserted into you
The Pearl was a fun place
The only place a DA protagonist can mating press a Dwarf
mods that were lost when bsn shut down
Pretty sure people uploaded to nexus all the relevant ones
modding the game to allow beautiful sapphic love with my wife Morrigan as god intended
Black folk. Not actual Black folk, just the word Black folk.
It's retroactively ruined. Worth playing for Morrigan seduction and satisfaction. Pretty much all it has. Small, short game where you don't see much. Dragon Age 2 is ok though even without Morrigan, just for tessellation on rocks at the start and kirkwall pillars, and the dlc which has you join a grey warden in the underground as he succumbs visibly to covid.
>okay time to boot up a new game
>skip Ostagar
>skip Fade
>skip Deep Roads
>do all the quests in Lothering
>get bored and uninstall the game
>repeat a year later
I haven't managed to replay the game in about 10 years
>skip Ostagar
why
>skip Fade
use guide
>skip Deep Roads
use guide
Ostogar is a talking simulator where the dialogue is almost all lore dumps. The quests are boring. Kocari wilds is uninteresting as is the tower to light to beacon
Fade is boring on replays but Ostagar and Deep Roads are kino
ostagar sets the tone for the entire game
deep roads are kino
this is why youre bored, because youre planning on skipping large chunks of the game. you cant get invested in the world and story.
i played it 4 times across my Xbox 360 and series x and had a blast each time. hardest difficulty too. i don't get how people can't deal with a controller, it's perfectly fine.
Leliana and her sweet voice.
to this day I maintain the actual ending is that my Warden and Leliana spend their days alternatively wandering on adventures or lounging in Orzammar/wading through the Deep Roads instead of the Warden fricking off to God-knows-where.
I'm still befuddled that they went with the mages and templars chimping out instead of a renewed Qunari invasion, or Orlesian Occupation 2.0 or the clean-up from the shitshow of the Blight. Nope, gotta look at the nerds and their wranglers sperging out.
ff12 did it first
"Last good bioware game."
Not even close
>posts a worse game

ME1 is a gem
oh how I Was hyped for 2 only to be letdown and the 3 ooof
I have no idea how you've come to the conclusion that Reapers are idiotic in ME1 but fine in ME2.
Or did you not even know they were present in ME2 to begin with?
>dark atmosphere of Mass Effect 2
I don't think it's particularly darker than ME1, although I do like Omega as an area.
reapers are idiotic in 1 because they are built up too strongly. they were never going to live up the expectations
they were "fine" in two because they were absent, and you just fought their peons
Built up too strongly how? The Reaper plan fails and Sovereign dies in the end. They could've ended with that, you're right. It's not the fault of ME1 that the sequels became moronic.
>they were "fine" in two
They were a lot worse in two. First you have Harbinger that literally trash talks you during combat like he's on xbox live and can apparently mind control husks FROM OUTSIDE OF THE GALAXY and then you have that Arrival DLC where it turns out Reapers were able to arrive into the galaxy whenever they wanted anyway which invalidates the whole fight in ME1.
it takes a massive effort to beat sovereign. an astronomical one
1 ends with an image of x amount of sovereigns just waiting out there. too strong to ever deliver
all that shit about harbinger doesn't matter one bit, that's just your babbling
the dlcs, i kind of agree actually. you can tell that mac walters really took control fully after the release of 2, and the dlcs really reflect that. i know shadow broker is popular and what not but i wasn't the biggest fan
but still, vanilla game wise, 2 > 1 >>>>>> 3
>1 ends with an image of x amount of sovereigns
No brainlet, that's literally the ending of ME2.
>all that shit about harbinger doesn't matter one bit, that's just your babbling
Cope.
been a while since i played them, but point stands. a big amount of them is foreshadowed in 1
don't know what you're so defensive about, 1 is still a good game. it's just that 2 is better
You are blaming ME1 for what it implies while giving ME2 a pass for what it actually shows on screen.
Just calling you out on your double standards, that's all.
yeah because 1 started it lmao dude you can't be this obtuse
>eeerm see there is this threat that is almost impossible to kill and there is a whole bunch of them
what the frick are you supposed to do with that? mac walters is a hack beyond words but you can NOT salvage that shit, i don't know what karpyshin was thinking
You can do whatever you want with it. The Reaper plan failed in ME1 and there was no actual information about how many Reapers there were or how far away they currently are.
They could've remained a looming threat for all I care.
>a looming threat
which they were, in 2
and considering you have no answer, this is a waste of time and you yourself know you are wrong
have a nice evening, i'm bailing
How the frick were they "looming" when husks were kidnapping hundreds of thousands of humans and building a human reaper you fricking moron?
>First you have Harbinger that literally trash talks you during combat like he's on xbox live
what were they thinking
I too like my giant Citadel to be three hallways long because the game went from being made for PC first to being made for shitty consoles
>This mistake killed the franchise
What killed the franchise was wasting the middle game on a trilogy on a moronic sidequest that wasted time and accomplished nothing. I swear you fricks are the Mass Effect equivalent of Fallout 4 fans.
>This is a fact. Get over it
You sound mad
History has put everything in its place. You can take your dose of copium.
>They had a chance to turn off this path after Mass Effect 2, as the game did its best to do so
lmao the game revolves entirely around the Reapers, it's all about Reaper second in commands kidnapping background (colonists) you don't give a shit about and entering a Derelict Reaper on your way to fight a giant Reaper Baby and setting up the 'twist' where the Collector Commander was le Reaper all along all to end with Shepard reading about said Reaper on a tablet then defiantly looking out the window to meet the Reapers head on as they arrive to the Milky Way but the game has nothing to do with the Reapers trust
>Mass Effect 2 is still BioWare's most highly rated game
And yet again, Fallout 4 is higher rated than New Vegas. Guess we both know which is the better game!
Everytime someone talks about the reapers I feel compelled to mention how the mystery of their origins is literally the most disappointing thing I've ever witness in my life
Because the solution was literally "the reapers, but organic"
Leviathans were cool thoughever. If anything that DLC and its Dead Space-esque tone should've been one game long instead of getting Shepard dying then being revived then being forced to work for the writer's donutsteel faction to get roped from key jingling action scene to key jingling action scene without a care for the whole
Leviathans were a bandaid for the absolute disaster that was 3's story
2 ruined the story
3 had to patch it up but it never had a chance because of that
Kek. The story was about dark energy, not about the war of organics with synthetics.
It's Mass Effect 3 that ruined the story, buddy.
Dark Energy was:
>Reapers realize mass effect fields and biotics are leading to the death of the whole universe so they leave all sorts of mass effect tools around for every future civilization to build off of
>to hasten the effect
>they don't tell anyone anything about it and no one realizes it
>then every 50k years they harvest all sorts of advanced civilizations then disappear so that even if anyone was solving the problem, it's halted and forgotten
>and the premise had it reach the point where *time was actually running out*. Several hundred thousands of millions of years and they thought harvesting the most advanced civilizations would solve the problem
>reset everything to solve a problem that they don't explain, facilitate to occur, and do nothing themselves to solve
Say what you will about the Crucible but at least it didn't establish *the entire fricking UNIVERSE* as running out of time before its destruction because the Reapers allowed untold millennia of mass effect use. Then there's this
https://www.reddit.com/r/Fantasy/comments/vxd8ea/hello_reddit_im_drew_karpyshyn_scifi_and_fantasy/
>Q: "How would you have concluded the Mass Effect series?"
>A: "We had some very rough ideas planned out. Basically, it involved luring the Reapers through the Mass Relays then detonating the entire network to wipe them out... but also destroying/damaging the relays and isolating every galactic community from the others. But we still had to figure out a lot of the details, and there were some issues with that option... like what we would do in the next series of games."
Basically the High EMS Destroy ending we got
Destroy chads we are vindicated
>Leviathans were cool thoughever
If you're some dreadfully boring c**t, maybe
How can such uninspired answer be cool?
That mining colony on an asteroid was cool. Imagine having a decade of your life just robbed in a blink of an eye then waking up to a galactic war to space shellfish
>2176 was 10 years ago
>Imao the game revolves entirely around the Reapers
Yes, Mass Effect 2 did everything right. The same should have been done in the following games (there would have been many more). Doing more interesting things, we would simultaneously fight with the minions of the reapers, find traces of their presence, and investigate previous cycles. But their origins, their motives, and their capabilities should NEVER have been revealed.
Dumb artificial intelligences with a mission to kill organics so they don't create synthetics? What idiocy is this! And all they can do is shoot a laser out of their ass and go for a ram. This is a galactic-scale threat!
I hate Cerberus so hard it's unreal
Dogshit cover shooter with dumbed down powers and edgelord squad mates
Don't talk shit about Mordin or Legion, please.
Mordin admittedly is good buy Legion fricking sucks and the game launches the final mission after you get him so you can barely use him without sacrificing non combat personnel
>Dogshit cover shooter with dumbed down powers
still better gameplay than 1
>edgelord squad mates
meaningless
Well, it's still better than the entire Dragon Age franchise combined.
Definitely not better than Origins, I'll grant you the rest of the DA games sucked
I wanted to frick samara so bad. She permanently ruined what I find attractive in women.
>i wanted to frick samara so hard
same but in the end we all got cucked
just like i wanted to frick Chakwas
>A fellow chakwas enjoyer
We were wronged, brother.
indeed
Me too, anon, me too.
Based ME2 enjoyer
Anyone who says 1 is better should off themselves
One day you'll get better taste
moron FPS dialogue wheel poster.
Shit gameplay and story
Bioware both being completely dead but still around. Which is weird for EA, who used to be so happy killing off their acquisitions.
why do people dislike deep roads? back in 2009 when i first played it it was pure KINO and still is today
I agree. My favourite part will always be the forest but the deep roads come right after on my list. I love the atmosphere
I don't really know either, I know I hated them on my original playthrough but playing it a year or two ago they ended up being a lot shorter and less annoying than I remember.
But then again this time I actually used a blood mage which is basically ezmode for everything anyway.
GOD BIOWARE WAS SO FRICKING GOOD TAKE ME THE FRICK BACK AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH GOD PLEASE STOP THIS GAY troony SHITTTTT
Bioware catering to consoletards was the beginning of the end
considering they started doing it with kotor and then proceeded to make like 6 great games in a row, i disagree
wasted potential
>What's the first thing that comes to mind?
Foursom sex with Morrigan
Enchantments were so fricking useless
>What's the first thing that comes to mind?
I want alistair to dump his royal seed in my mouth.
Hara afah eo of course
The music was fantastic. The original parts were great and so were the ones Inon Zur cribbed off the Last of the Mohicans
Inquisition was just a blatant Howard Shore rip off
>and so were the ones Inon Zur cribbed off the Last of the Mohicans
He did? The promontory theme or something?
I enjoyed it when it came out and it was good for it's time especially since it didn't have the dumbfrick dual morality system that all of Bioware games starting having at that era.
In retrospect the story/universe is kind of bland though.
Battle of Ostagar cinematic. Bioware never reached that high again.
I still can't defeat this Bastard in a nightmare
they should have sold the IP to a better studio after publishing origins.
Shame they never made a sequel
Dragon Age started and ended with Origins.
The sequels are just glorified fanfictions.
How bullshit that we never get to see Morrigan pregnant in-game. What a complete waste.
Too long with lots of boring parts
demon booba
>male gaze
>sexualization
>misogyny
Thank the Lady, Anita has saved us from such ebil
I wish I had a desire demon wife like that one templar
Never going to see those again from Bioware.
I want to like this game, I've gotten around 8-10 hours in a few different times, but the combat always puts me off. I don't understand it and feel like I'm doing the rpg equivalent of button mashing.
How I’m probably too forgiving with BioWare
trash mobs
Murder all the elfs!
I've never played Dragon Age, is pic related any good? I've had it in my library for years
No, go play Origins
Do you enjoy MMOs converted into singleplayer games?
Didn't enjoy your choice of human/huwoman?
It's alright at best (a 5/10) if you ignore all the MMO fetch quests and like the setting
That means you should start with DA:O
It's somewhat playable on PC if you install a bunch of mods that remove main sources of annoyance like that shitty mobile game tier war table, slow as frick movement speed because they couldn't figure out how to make mounts more than 10% faster than being on foot and giving your BamHa- inquisitor vision an actual range and duration instead of having you spam it every few seconds, among other things.
But honestly, I wasted 100 hours on it and it's really hard to find anything good about it, at best it's just mediocre.
On another note, I hate them for turning Cassandra into some c**t with a literal block head.
>Cassandra
who?
You slop-hogs never cease to amuse me. Hundreds of hours taken from you like its nothing. Like it means nothing to you. The psychology of consooming is just unfathomable.
Shitposting about it without actually playing the game is obviously better, surely
How you enjoying that Fallout TV show?
Not at all, because I haven't watched it, nor do I really plan to do it
Is this supposed to be some sort of gotcha?
sure buddy ;).
ez bait aside, i'll ask sincerely: how did you not smell from a mile away that these were OBJECTIVELY shit games? OK tricked into the second game because Origins was really good is understandable, even though the writing was on the wall for bioware, but the NEXT one too?
Yes, I never played them and I don't need to. Do you understand why?
>;).
oh lawdie he seething
Its honestly too easy, but I think it goes along with my hypothesis that as some point you're barely dealing with a human anymore.
There's consuming shit media because its easy and convenient and you are depressed so your time has no value to you anyway, just want to numb, but there is another class of media consumer that really might as well be considered livestock. I want to say it feels unsatisfying to bait such a low being, but then again if we're comparing their wherewithal to that of a fish it becomes poetically appropriate.
Just catch n release fellas.
And you will continue shitposting without actually having played them, contributing nothing but seethe. I can actually contribute something other than "lol it's shit lmao" whenever the question comes up. It's the standard response to everything on here. It's fricking worthless.
Why should I ever respond to anyone asking about a game I haven't played?
because the question was about your choice to initiate the game and spend hundreds of hours in it, not about any of the contents of the game, fella. Why would I want to discuss the specific elements of a piece of shit? I know its a shit, you can spare me its dissection just as well. My curiosity lies in the psychology of you and your decision-making as I have come upon you slurping it out of a toilet bowl for 100s of hours. Is that not interesting? What's the seethe? You got baited and a little defensive with the fallout tv show comparison? I dont even consider that seethe. Don't be so hard on yourself.
You say all of this while not contributing to any sort of vidya discussion at all. Is spending your day playing armchair psychologist and complaining about people who have an opinion because they actually engaged with the game that is the topic of discussion that fun? I mean it's Ganker, I know you are trying your hardest to fit in, but damn, you've been complaining about this shit for a while without contributing a single thing. If that's fun for you, sure, go ahead, make the site worse than it already is, but it's honestly funny to see you complain about people wasting their time while you do this shit.
Don't you have some other thread to shit up?
Sorry anon, but you're in the wrong here. And it quite frankly sickens me how proud you are of playing fricking DA2 and 3
Im discussing what I would like to discuss elated to the game series and re-iterating what it is that I am discussing/asking.
>Cassandra into some c**t with a literal block head.
She was exactly that in 2. At most, Inquisition really softened her up.
CUTE
my tomboy autistic wife
unironically enjoyed her romance as a dalish elf
I liked her, but the romance starts as a random conversation in the hallway of her asking you if you've been flirting with her which follows with her saying oh, okay.
I found it to be so underwhelming and disconnected to everything else, that I couldn't go through with it. Outside of Solas, all the Inquisition romances feel so trivial and mundane that there's no actual reason to do them since they add nothing to the story. Even the ones from DA2 felt more involved, at least in terms of how they develop.
>but the romance starts as a random conversation in the hallway of her asking you if you've been flirting with her which follows with her saying oh, okay.
its cute, it only gets better from there.
what an downgrade.
That's a 5/10 woman, anon.
i am not too demanding yeah
>5/10 woman
That's all I want from life, bros... a 5/10 who is devoted and loyal.
Yes
t. 9 times
character editor is awful, all female presets are ugly
its not bad but as the anon said install some time wasting annoyance mods, the companion quests are the best and the DLC as well.
only romance the best girl Cassandra and impregnate her even when you convince her to become the new divine 🙂
God tier reigning champion for character prologue/back stories. The second thing is that I owned da2 for about half an hour total including time to and from gamestop because they completely did away with one of the strongest parts of the first game.
homosexuals and fujos, feally
When I tried to do deep roads first as commoner 2h warrior. It was a mistake
Gackt
The main menu. It's very simple but very good thanks to the music and imagery. Sets a tone.
Fricking werevolves and their constant overwhelm spam
The fact that Mass Effect is BioWare's flagship franchise. And Dragon Age is the eternal second place.
I jerked off to her yesterday
It's nice to see a man of culture in this thread.
I need more Mass Effect porn that is male Shepherd with alien girls and less that is female Shepherd with a penis surrended by more female penises
The main menu OST.
EA rape
DAO took quite a while to develop. I don't remember how long it took them but it wasn't exactly short. DA2 was shat out in what, 1-2 years, and it shows. I never followed DAI development so I don't know what happened there but given how it plays I guess EA really wanted to chase every possible trend that existed at the time.
>all writers go
>troonoids and numales infiltrate the company
>durrr how come the writing is ass now
Characters standing around splattered with blood during cutscenes, playing a mage and talking to other characters like they're dogshit that needs sprayed off the sidewalk
Start of the fricking Bioware homosexualry.
Wasted potential the series.
Seriously who fricking thought Mage v templar and the elves were the best things to focus on?
NNNNOOOOO
Y-YOU
YOU FIEND
>Was planning to buy it and play it at some point
>Then i got it for free from somewhere but still didn't play it
>Now it's too outdated for me to enjoy it even if i did play it
>>Now it's too outdated for me to enjoy it even if i did play it
stupid zoom zoom
Nah, just a boom boom with too many games.
a boomer wouldn't complain about something being outdated, homosexual
Everyone's got their own limits on how far back in graphical quality they're willing to go. I'm loving the shit out of cod2 and 3 on my xbox this past week but I can understand if other people can't handle it. Each gen with graphical advancements reprograms our brains on what games should look like.
>on my xbox
queer
>t. hasn't met a single boomer
Way to out yourself as a zoomerhomosexual
this
also open mouths and that you have to leave constitution at 10 for a strength build
A boring and repetitive slog that lasts 50+ hours.
>Make the choices i would make.
>Morrigan approves of them all.
>Hear from others how hard it is to gain approbal with Morrigan.
Gosh..
One of the best games ever created. Way better than any weebshit homosexualry.
Being an Arcane Warrior.
>Is that you talking Oghren, or the alcohol?
>Warden, I am the alcohol
despite its aged gameplay, I will still say it is the epitome of what a rpg story should be. Enough story to be understandable, enough conflict to establish a threat, enough choice to make you feel like you make a difference (whether that is true or not). And enough small plots as you travel to make the world unique.
The into battle of Ostagar goes hard to this day.
And now it is just political squabble shit...
You forgot the most important part of making a great cRPG
>mages are ridiculously OP and the most fun class to play
and mages are too dangerous and need to be imprisoned or put on leashes to protect the masses.
mages were born with the natural right to dominate tevinter shall rise again stronger than ever all of thedas shall be tevinter's domain day x is coming soon and you weaklings will beg to be slaves to the mage master race you will be contained just like we were you will all see the truth when the natural order has been established
Leliana is kind of a creep bros
Sure but the sex, man
I can still hear it.
Swooping is bad.
dragons
old people
Okay bros, what's the final verdict about specialization unlocks
First character is meant to unlock everything, including those OP equipment and weapons from finishing DLCs
Then your second character can play anything from paragonmaxxxing to buttholemaxxxing
You have to pick the weapons from the DLCs up on every playthrough
>You have to pick the weapons from the DLCs up on every playthrough
Did they change it?
I remember a decade ago that completing Leliana and Morrigan's DLC will just unlock the items and you'll start with it in any Origins or Awakening save file.
Maybe I'm wrong, but I definitely had to do the Ostagar DLC every time I want King Cailan's Arms for a new Arcane Warrior
Did they at least keep the Black/Golden city mysterious? My favorite part of this setting is that it isn't clear whether there actually is a god
They never explicitly state it or anything but it might be the place where the ancient elven super mage-gods were banished to, yes, that's a thing now
>mages and elves
i think all the homosexualry is much worse than just mages and elves but alright
AOOOOH WAH-AH-AH-AH. After that memories of a mediocre crpg with okay characters. After that, hopes of Bioware’s final death.
Is there any order you guys do the big quests in?
I always do the magic circle first, deep roads second and elf forest third.
Pretty much the same for me, mostly because I tried the forest first when I was playing a solo arcane warrior, and kept getting stunlocked by werewolves using overwhelm
I always do redcliffe first because it feels the most pressing.
This, plus if you play a mage you can grab blood magic.
Is blood magic good? I always liked edgy magic like necromancy
It's overpowered as shit because you can CC an entire screen without worrying about hitting your allies
Okay, frick Connor then
It might not be the most OP in the game, but it's pretty sick. I think it's the third spell in blood magic that affects a wide area, stuns enemies without affecting allies, and deals hefty damage over time. Basically just wipes entire groups of enemies without effort or risk.
>tower
>redcliff
>elfs
>dwarfs
That's how I do it
Redcliffe first
Mage Circle
Denerim pt1
Orzammar to get Oghren
Denerim pt2, for Zevran/Alistair/Leliana/Sacred Ashes
Treehuggers
Denerim pt3 and final battle
>Circle
>Redcliffe
>Forest
>Orzammar
>Sacred Ashes
I think Redcliffe fits more first, but it's impossible to keep those c**ts alive without Wynne
>but it's impossible to keep those c**ts alive without Wynne
I wonder if anyone has ever made their main character a healer. That goes for all RPGs too, not just DA:O
ive done it and it can be either really fun or really boring depending on the skillset. you can get away with it in DAO even though you have wynne.
Horrible meele combat, being a warrior is so boring
Everyone's rotten fricking teeth
>he didn't install the teeth mod
I miss when you could cuck elves.
the writing definitely had more edge and oomph to it in 1. 2 had traces of it, even if people want to hate all of it. but everything after that is catastrophe territory
There is only shadow of that type of writing in 3 witch is why I can't even play the fricking game any more.
Feels like that's the case for all games since then
I love how jealous Morrigan is every time I flirt with other people. Redcliff was so funny
So was this supposed to be the black city or was it the island chained to a few other islands?
>So was this supposed to be the black city
yeah
Gee anon, I don't know, is the image you copied from a wiki the black city?
I just got it off from google images. I never knew if it was confirmed in the end or not cause there were a few islands in the Fade that seem to potentially have cities on them.
Anyway, DAI is such a blur to me that I didn't even remember we were apparently on that island at some point.
morrigan's stinky pussy
A PUTRID, HALF-EATEN HARE
>Morrigan canonically enjoyed getting fricked in animal form
Lowland defamation
my theory is that EA expected Bioware to push out games on a year or a two year basis, making old developers and writers frustrated with the state of the company, and leading them to hire new younger fresh-out-of-college trash writers
it was all fun and games up until ME3 where they REALLY received significant backlash, and it seems their studio is completely ruptured since then
That it's chilling in my library right now I bought it for $2 on the last sale and will probably never play it because its overhyped dogshit.
>it's FRICKING SHIT
>never played it btw
It's far sillier that he went
>I bought it
>it's overhyped shit btw but I still fell for it
What part of $2 do you not understand?
you're such a homosexual
>buying a game you have no intention of ever actually playing
it's from a time when western games were good
I'm annoyed that it crashes every 30 minutes on my PC, I really wanted to do another playthrough after I hated how unnecessarily long BG3 was
Have you tried applying a 4GB patch? It's an issue a lot of 2000s era games suffer from.
Is this the memory thing? Isn't there a patch that fixes that, at least somewhat? That's the only issue I ever used to have. Been a while since I played I guess.
It was too complex. Luckily bloware fixed it with their excellent sequel. So now if you press a button something awesome happens!

Last great western RPG, last great bioware game. Anyone who compares it to troony gate 3 needs the rope.
Thick, ropey loads of pozz.
Morrigan and one of my favorite RPGs of all time. RtWP is the only drawback. the memory leaks on release sucked horribly though.
Inquisition > 2 >>>> limb amputation >>>> DA:O
>AI pajeet
>shit opinion
Name a more iconic duo
>You > Are >>>> A >>>> HUGE homosexual
>DA:O > DA:I >DAII
Kiss, cuddle, Nakdashi, impregnation, marriage
Why didn't you use japanese terms for the others, weeaboo? Imagine being a weeb but not actually being able to speak japanese lel
did someone hurt you today or something
You didn't beat the game
Remember when you could kiss village girls? I do.
Human noble men should be able to have sex with village girls and slave elves for the ultimate coomer experience
>if you want a really strong longbow you need to save everyone on Redcliffe but not rescue the blacksmith's daughter so he will kill himself and be replaced with another blacksmith who'll sell you the strongest longbow in the game until you do Morrigan's DLC (useless since you get it after beating the DLC)
good campfire music, shitty RTWP gameplay.
Replaying this shit there's actually some really cool spells. I didn't even remember that you could turn into a Swarm. It's baffling how they gutted the magic tree in a fantasy RPG with each installment.
Might wanna install that one shapeshifter mod so you can get even more fun transformations
>instantly killing that one legendary demon with mana clash
Mage is cool
game was actually good in spite of it being EA bioshite
it was in dev long before the EA acquisition
Name ONE reason you hate DAI
Fetch quests
It's homosexual as shit
Sera
Combat sucks
Design sucks
Wrong tone
Lore changes suck
>Sera
Who was this character for? Even her supposed intended audience at the time which was Tumblr hated her. When being a dyke wasn't enough to save her from this crowd you know it's bad.
I don’t hate it, I just acknowledge it’s issues and why almost anyone less forgiving then myself will likely find it disappointing id not intolerable
i actually enjoyed it though it came with a great set of pain like this anon describes
Singleplayer MMO with Marvel writing
Can't dick Sera straight
h-h-holy sexoooo
>warden canonically plaps morrigan so loud the entire camp is forced to listen to it all night
Kino
the best part of the game was the banter between Morrigan and Leliana. Especially when you go through the harem route
Imagine being so out of material in your imaginary waifu war that "she moans while fricking" becomes your best argument
>Alistair
>Morrigan
>Leliana
>mods that allows you to take Barkspawn as a fourth companion
The perfect party. I have never bothered taking any other characters with me
Last time I ever bought a Bioware game and the most disappointed I've ever been in my life.
Origins was liquid shit. Literally the start of the age of hardcore woke gay pozz. Game used to get clowned around here when it released. Now look at you thirsty homosexuals licking up every last thick drop.
> Muh Morrigan (that totally never fricked dogs..)
gays the lot of you.
>that entire gay rant so anon could post his bestiality headcanon
>HEHEHEHEHEHEHEH
>SO YOU AND THE BOSS EH
Dragon
Then, age
Finally, origins
Probably because the image says dragon age origins
Best game ever made
>muh Orlesians
Did people hate Cailan? Why didn't they crucify Loghain when he left the army at Ostagar?
homie did you see the army he brought with him behind Loghain when he sounded the retreat? They wouldn't dare.
The main menu theme
I miss those cinematic kills.
>literal fricks and gets knocked up by other men
Morrigangays are literal cucks
You have to agree with that
Cuck.
You have to reject her pleas to have your baby to save your life then order her to have sex with alistair then persuade alistair to frick her. It’s one of those choice they included that nobody legitimately picks outside of shitposters
>oh no my hot edgy witch gf wants to have magic sex with me to save my life
>better turn her down and tell her to frick my friend instead
>wtf I got cucked
why are you like this
Should I replay this? I reckon I still have the save files from when I did rogue playthrough, but I don't want to deal with the fade again.
There's a mod to skip the fade if it's such a big deal for you
Discount Mass Effect
hurf durf feggetz git off my vidyer
The mod that adds Cailan's massive dong to Return to Ostagar.
>go to Alienage
>can't have sex with elves and breed them out in the process
That homosexual boi who doesnt want to become king
>i dun wan it
Similar to jon snow
Why no human commoner?
You could have started in Redcliffe or Lothering.
Also the tsundere elf and Legion female dwarf on the expansion should have been in Origins.
2 elves
2 dorfs
3 mages
1 golem
1 dog
3 warriors
2 rogues
Supposedly a Human Commoner from Redcliffe was planned and made it very far into development before being cut, and before it a Chasind human origin was planned.
The game has a lot of things that were cut because of time and the human commoner is an unfortunate victim of that.
The only origin I would've really wanted was an apostate mage.
I don't want to be a circle cuck.
Too bad, circle cuck
Get back to your mage pen
Impossible since the mage PC becomes a warden anyway.
>t. templar who deflowers the circle mages
>the tumblr fanbase gaslighted Gaider and Weekes into adding Cullen the prison rapist and serial killer as a companion/romance in Cisquisition to then get his loony VA making a 40 minute long in-character MAGA rant on a video
Getting what they fricking deserve, I see
>unengaging auto-combat
>being able to code the behavior of your allies, which wastes your time thinking you can avoid controlling them
>giving your companions trash as gifts to speedrun your relationship with them, which is narratively unsatisfying, but you still do it
>the best class is bomb throwing
>never having any mana to cast anything as arcane warrior
>not being able to agree/disagree in certain situations, which leads you to getting railroaded
baldurs gate 2
it's been like 10 years since I've touched this game and morrigan is all I can remember
Liar.
it's true though
Sure if you quit 5 minutes into the game. Otherwise I don't see how you at least don't remember some memorable parts, like Ostagar, Deep Roads, including the broodmother, the dragon boss fights etc.
Morrigan doesn't show up 5 minutes into the game
15 minutes then, the argument stands.
What's your argument?
That the person I replied to is lying.
The lifeless eyes of your warden.
This game was the triumphant end to Bioware's golden era and the last good game they ever made.
Mass Effect 2?
yes and
And? The gameplay of ME1 just didn't work. I do not know how crooked the hands must be to die in it at least once at the maximum difficulty level. Easier than ME 1, probably only ME3.
>The gameplay of ME1 just didn't work
Sounds like a (You) issue
Warriors got so cucked by arcane warrior it's not even funny
>male human noble warrior
>romance morrigan
>spirit warrior specialization
>name dog Barkspawn
>save connor
>save eamon
>save the mages
>save the ashes of andraste

>side with the architect
>fight with the messenger
>save both amarathine and vigils keep
>hook finn and ariane up
>go into the portal with morrigan
>sit and watch entire credits to 30 Seconds to Mars This is War
I feel like I'm cheating when I go for arcane warrior nuke mage but it's just so fun. I wish enemies respawned in some places just so I had more stuff to fight.
Sex with male dwarves where am the top of course.
Morrigan is an evil c**t
>'tis no affair of ours, saving these villagers. I say we leave them be.
>OH WARDEN YES YES RIGHT THERE DON'T STOP WARDEN DON'T STOP FRICK ME FRICK ME FRICK MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
>What's the first thing that comes to mind?
Derp roads. Worst part of any game ever.
First, second and third thing is Morrigan, then the lore that was promising and then the soundtrack.
I love DA:O but at the same time the meme about every area being "that area" is also true. It's carried by the characters 100%.
Being a kid. I'd give anything to go back.
All I want from DA4 is romancable female qunari
I will wade through literal ocean of shit for that
What's the most op build in DAO again? My backstabbing rogue was okay against mooks but she's lackluster when boss fights come up. The dlc bosses in general feel tedious.
Arcane Warrior by far. It's only challenged by Archers in Awakening.
But Ganker says warrior are boring.
Arcane Warriors are mages.
DW Rogue or Warrior or a spell casting BloodMage
Arcane Warriors are a meme
None of those come close. Arcane Warriors can solo the entire game on the highest difficulty without ever dropping below 50% health.
>Arcane Warriors can solo the entire game on the highest difficulty without ever dropping below 50% health.
So can any of those
Shit, so can terrible classes with potions
Arcane Warrior so overrated and plays terribly
No they cannot. Rogues are squishy as shit and they can get one shot or stunlocked by a lot of enemies.
Warriors are neither as tanky or as high DPS as AW.
hotwife Morrigan of course
Lies during the marketing campaign
I hate every part of the game when I’m deciding where to go next but once I finally settle on one and actually get there I think each is fun to some degree
crpg revival
day, they come and catch everyone...
Sadness. Because it was the best Dragon Age game and really good and every other game after it was complete garbage.
If Mass Effect 2 hadn't put the whole context of what was happening, Mass Effect 3 would have been a meaningless set of unrelated tasks.
Without ME2, ME3 doesn't work at all.
Leave it to ME2-gays to derail a Dragon Age thread
Bro the end is done
What's with MEgays hijacking DA threads? go make your own
