From what I gathered is that Danganronpa was never supposed to be this long series of games, it was always meant to be a standalone title. It was never supposed to get sequels, but the insane popularity of the first game pushed one. So they had to make up excuses to bring back Junko because Danganronpa 1 was a closed book in terms of story.

because there are so many ways to play around with the idea. Makoto dominating Junko is hot. Junko dominating Makoto is hot. Junko getting mindbroken into accepting hope is hot. Makoto getting mindbroken into embracing despair is hot. it's the only pairing in the game where the outcome isn't immediately obvious, you can fit whatever fantasy you want onto it. not only is Junko the perfect frickdoll, able to become whatever you want her to be, she actually gets off on being humiliated and degraded. you could do anything you want to her. at the same time Makoto works as either a self-insert or as an innocent shota getting molested and corrupted.

Beyond that there's another anime being made, and who knows, maybe by that point the baseball thing the writer and artist are working on currently will have come and gone and a revival will kick up. The games are very aware of what they are. There’s not like Xenoblade level shit but there’s a lot of blatantly horny dialogue with little to no attempts to be coy about it.
There's some, not straight up showing the breasts kind of stuff, but in all three games the bonus mode you unlock after completing the game is basically a mode where you can date any of the characters that appear in the game.
There's almost no older staff, all there is is Monokuma, a robot bear.
There's a horny dialogue here and there, and there's the dating mode.
The outright coomer bait stuff is mostly in the anime where one of the girls almost rapes a boy.
D3 and V3 really ruined Mikan as a character

V3 by design ended in such a conclusive way rarely seen in fiction such that there is no possibility at all of continuing forward in the timeline, and it also rendered all possible sidestories that could be told between it and 1 ultimately meaningless. Meanwhile the anime ensured there is no going backwards in the timeline and ruling out any prequels And to top it off because the franchise is a character centric mystery murder franchise it can't easily reboot either. So the series is stuck and basically over. Any further plot would require major retconing or ilogical asspull.
The best case scenario is some sort of spiritual successor honestly
