What's the goofiest meta and why? Doesn't just have to be smogon or VGC, any meta is fine.
For me, any of RBY's metas qualify, just because of how autistically tuned they are and how buggy the games were

The short-lived meta where Pokemon were "tiered" by points. So basically for example, you had like 15 points to use for a team, and "strong" Pokemon like Garchomp were worth 6 points or whatever, and shitmons like Wormadam were worth 2.
It was some truly goofy ass shit that didn't last long at all. But I'll commend them for trying something fairly "unique" at the time.
sounds like something a child would make on the playground so people played "Fair"
>WTF YOU CAN'T USE DARKRAI HE'S TOO STRONG I MEAN UH..HE'S 6 POINTS AND CHARIZARD IS ONLY 3 NOT FAIR NOT FAIR
I remember /vp/ shilling this system back in gen 6, but nobody cared.
Isn't that basically just Draft Leagues?
Yes and no.
The system I am thinking of wasn't used in tournament settings like Draft Leagues is/was.
this sounds hilariously bad, what was the end result as far as meta teams go
Goofiest meta is 10-year-olds in a schoolyard in 1999 meta
In terms of all metas? Either one of the insanely low RBY tiers far below ZU where the best Pokemon is like Meowth and Beedrill or Gen IX AG NatDex where the entire tier had to be deleted because Prankster Assist Revival Blessing literally killed the tier
In terms of primary metas? Probably Gen IX OU because it's a clusterfrick in every regard which results in shit that should be banned going untouched while tons of stuff that shouldn't being wacked with the banhammer
>Gen IX AG NatDex where the entire tier had to be deleted because Prankster Assist Revival Blessing literally killed the tier
I don't get this, they could have just made Assist unable to call Revival Blessing. There is already precidence for Assist not calling certain moves, and the whole concept of natdex strays from the original games.
The assist flag was still in the code on cart even though the move itself wasn't
Were there any moves not marked for Assist?
https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Assist_(move)
So there aren't any new moves that are marked to be incompatible with Assist?
Well yes, Assist itself. The move was movecut and isn't available in the games starting in SwSh, so there's no need to mark other moves as unselectable by it. It's only a problem for metas that force it where it's not supposed to be.
That's exactly my point. Nothing is marked to be incompatible with the move itself, so there's no reason to force Revival Blessing to not fail.
They would be diverging from cart by doing that, even as moronic as it seems, that was their logic
it's fricking natdex we left the realm of being accurate to cart long ago and i really dont think anyone is going to disagree here
Anon, I'm not agreeing with their decision, I'm just reiterating why it happened
Let me make a correction; there are explicitly five moves marked as uncallable by Assist in gen 9: Wicked Torque, Blazing Torque, Noxious Torque, Magical Torque, and Combat Torque. Everything else is callable. Note that Sleep Talk can call Revival Blessing, but Metronome can't.
the actual fanfic meta, national dex
having megas, tera and z moves in it leads to some insane powercreep
Since NatDex banned Gholdengo and Kingambit, it's a fundamentally better meta than Gen 9 OU
I kind of like randoms on showdown because they seemingly curve the levels of the mons based on tier
