I recently started playing Star Control 2 and I LOVE this game! I can't even remember the last time I took notes in a notebook while playing a game. No wonder this game is a cult classic!
I wish the PC VR version didn’t run like shit. I have a 5800x3d, and a 3080 ti, and I can’t keep consistent frame delivery at 90hz with my Reverb G2. I’m not interested in playing another survival game on a standard monitor, so I’m probably out on the game until a major hardware upgrade or they patch openxr or fixed foveated rendering into the game.
yeah i noticed that too. so i just capped it at 60 on low settings. pop in is a bit jarring on planet entry but eh. i'm a nearly 40 year old boomer and its the newest game i own
Deltarune, especially the entrance into cyber city. For about 6 seconds I was filled with childlike wonder, I haven't felt that in a long time. But if we are talking about IRL games as well, me and my family went to the new dave and busters last week. Me and my brother were playing air hockey, he whooped my ass but I has having a great time regardless. Fun fact about air hockey these days, did you know that the strikers have hang guards on them now? There is also a transparent panel in the middle to stop the puck from going airborn and hitting you in the face. They didn't have any skeeball for some reason though, I always thought was a mandatory addition to arcades.
Voices of the Void.
It's been so long since i've enjoyed a game so much I didn't even notice the passage of time.
Had to take a break from work just to play more, unthinkable for current me.
It wasn’t the last game, it was actually a long time ago, but I remember buying Call of Juarez Gunslinger on a whim and having an absolute blast with it. One of those simple and cheesy games you expect nothing from but it ended up being more fun than many goty tier games I’ve played.
Any Serious Sam, even SS4, which is objectively shit in practically every way.
The advantage of Serious Sam over other FPSs is that every battle is an opportunity for the level designer to entertain the player. That classic Serious Sam trope of a kamikaze coming out from behind the dune screaming, you kill it, Serious Sam make some funny comment, and then 50 more kamikazes come out and force you to actually play the game, that is the kind of thing that make me smile while playing.
I wish more games had this approach to level design. Like, not taking itself too seriously and using mechanics to entertain the player whenever possible.
