Probably MOBAs or Battle Royales. NFT games might be newer if you can count that as an actual genre (I don't).
Actual gameplay innovation since 2010 has been essentially non-existent and at best we've seen refinement of already existing genres. The biggest way developers innovate nowadays is in coming up with predatory new monetization schemes.
I should also add Destiny-like to this. Not sure what to call the genre though. Pseudo-MMOs?

MOBAs are as old as Warcraft 3. They aren't new at all. They just became popular after LoL.
They don't even have actual genres like puzzle or platformer. "Action" is the most generic fricking genre imaginable, and adventure is almost as generic.
Action is too broad of a term. When mario world came out Nintendo considered it an action platformer but its nothing like devil may cry which is a spectical action game, elden ring which is an action rpg, granblue fantasy relink which is an action rpg, monster hunter world which is an action rpg, vampire survivors which is an action bullet hell, titan fall 2 which is an action shooter, or *insert first party sony exclusive* which is a cinematic third person over the shoulder action adventure game with stealth elements
The newest genre is survivors games. Vampire survivors took "risk of rain but you only pick up barbed wire, teslas and icicles" gameplay from an uninspired mobile game and made a $3 game so good that it spawned 5000 clones in a month.
I've heard the term bullet heaven used to distinguish them from classic bullet hells, since there is a role reversal here. Meaning that the player generates the bullet patterns, not the enemies. And they play differently enough that this could be considered a new genre.
there are no games anymore

>action
what a vauge stupid genre description, half of the genres on the list can be classified as action
boomer shooter, game designed to emulate retro FPS games. shit like Dusk.
>FPS
>new genre
Jesus christ....
they are adventure games, with secret levels, and environment puzzles, with low-fi graphics, and fast movements, and swarms of enemies.
you are as bad as people who say Metroid Prime is an FPS.
have a nice day
I think I'm going to jerk off
>What's the newest genre of video game?
Battle royale
Survival crafting
Soulslike
Live service
I should also add Destiny-like to this. Not sure what to call the genre though. Pseudo-MMOs?

Where are the roguelite soulslike with survival crafting elements?

The strand genre

Probably vampire survivor clones, survivecrafts, idle clickers and JPG collectors
Those body camera games. although that's more of a aesthetic than a genre right?

those are just bullet hells
If only that gameplay weren't the exact opposite
Roguelite bullet hells arent a new genre, not that a zoomer like yourself would know
Yeah they aren't, but survivors games are, since they're not bullet hells at all. You dodge waves of bullets in approximately zero of them.
Are you moronic?
Bullet hells have been around since arcades existed
Mascot horror comes to mind.
>Children's entertainment

Maybe first person platformer, ie Mirror's Edge.
Strand-type games, of course
