>typical of FromSoftware, music and ambience basically non existent
Kek, what bullcrap. KF and early From in general has legendary soundtracks and ambience.
Very meh in a sea of action RPGs. Whatever atmosphere you may think there is is more likely a result of your own preconception rather than intended by the developers
I'll consider playing Kings field 1, 2 and maybe 3 someday. once I get copies of them, either via getting the discs and play it on my PS3, or downloading 1 and 2 by way of either direct download, or torrenting the .bin or .cue files, then putting them into my PS Vita 2000 after I get both Modoru and Henkaku Enso CFW installed. I don't think is fair to collectively judge all the King's Field games as one single game cut up into like several parts.
3 is excellent one of the best RPG's on the PS1
1 is a tech demo but an impressive one for the time it came, it will filter anyone who's not familair with the KF series so don't start with it
2 is overrated slop, the map was big but bloated and tedious to navigate and the framerate was shit even on an emulator you will have framerate issues
Idk, I kinda appreciate KF1 for it's ambition as someone who started with KF4. It's really fun to just be dropped in a world with no instructions and be forced to figure things out on your own through trial and error. I love these sorts of adventure games where you're not really sure what you're going to come up against. It doesn't just warn you, or play a gay dramatic shitty cutscene. You're just walking along and suddenly there's a giant ant trying to frick your shit up. KF1 is a brutal and unforgiving game but it's filled with mystery. I need to play 2 and 3.
Many on /vr/ seem to feel threatened by these games for some reason. They are excellent games that largely achieve what they set out to do. I love the music, the eerie lopsided uncommon locations, the weird pathetic monsters, the faithful yet fatalistic NPCs, ritualistic mechanics, dumb luck secrets. No game has the same blend of traits. Not for everyone
I'm gonna be playing KF 1 and 2 in the near future, but I had booted up both games for a moment just to make sure everything was working >Start KF 1 >Wander into a nearby room, walk through a false wall >Find a Skeleton guarding a treasure chest >He kills my ass in two hits
>Start KF 2 >Standing on a little island with water in front of me >Walk forward, fall into water and die
I laughed. I'm looking forward to playing these games. First thing I'm going to do is kill that bastard Skeleton in the first game.
Exactly. These games have the sense of humor of a schoolyard bully baiting you into saying something gay and suckerpunching you. Show me another game that has this much personality without being an annoying narrative driven game
Terrible gameplay and visuals and, typical of FromSoftware, music and ambience basically non existent
I kinda like Souls but I won't pretend to like From's old shit just because of that
I hate how much From overuses omission of music. Makes every place feel the same instead of making places feel special with it
/thread
This guy sucks ultima wiener
You suck black ones. King's Field is mediocre.
>typical of FromSoftware, music and ambience basically non existent
Kek, what bullcrap. KF and early From in general has legendary soundtracks and ambience.
>legendary soundtracks
Legendarily awful
Music in early KF games is more like noise
MUSIC NON-EXISTENT IN KING'S FIELD?? the frick are you talking about
What do you expect? KF threads are notorious for attracting people who don't play the games.
this. even in king's field 4 you need 1 minute just to turn around
shit games only liked by pseuds and reddit souls fans
>he needs to turn around
Skill issue
Nice comeback kiddo
That's not King's Field lol
Evergrace 1 had badass music anyway
Every King's Field track is fantastic
>he needs a youtuber to prove his point for him
ew
>ambience basically non existent
This is just not true. If there's one good thing about FROM games it's the ambience

It’s artificial soul

2 had a seamless open-ish world on the ps1, that's kind of impressive
I loved it.
my kf2 save got corrupted right near the end of the game so i've decided it's shit
>What's the verdict on the Verdite trilogy of King's Field, King's Field II, and King's Field III?
God-tier kamiges
If this music doesn't make you feel like fighting to the death than it's already over for you

I really tried to get through them. I managed to finish the first game, but the second game is so fricking terrible that I gave up.
