its a 3D technical platformer you play with only your mouse. similar to like source engine surf maps. theres a campaign that takes 2-10 hours depending on how skilled you are, and a bunch of side content like collectibles, challenges and custom maps.
It's not the greatest indie game ever but it's mine and im proud of it so it's my favorite.
It's an investigative/stealth game where you have to research families to find details about their deceased loved ones, then at night you dig up the relevant corpse and display it in their yard without getting caught. You get more points for more gruesome displays as well as proximity to the home, proximity to a window etc. Displaying the corpse generates noise so you have to be careful not to wake the family (some people are light sleepers, some work weird hours some stay up late drinking and gaming etc.), and pedestrians are a thing as well. Still working on implementing procedurally generated family reactions in the media though so currently the joy is strictly around placing and posing the corpses rather than getting to see the reactions of the family.
actual devs left, but publisher kept the rights to the name and is now raping the corpse. devs went on to make story of seasons which is de facto continuation of harvest moon.
Except Marvelous is also raping its corpse and has been since before they split with Natsume. The series peaked over twenty years ago now and after the original devs left following Animal Parade the series has been a shell of its former self.
I couldnt even finish a season stardew
everything seems so by the books
artstyle is really off putting too and probably the main reason for dropping it even moreso than the stale gameplay
Also I understand why people told me not to buy the Megaman Legacy Collections from Capcom because the talent that made it are all in Inti Creates and not even making Megaman games anymore
People aka golems would rather support some nebulous faceless company because they have copyrights to their childhood franchise than a game made by their creators like Gunvolt or something from new talent like 30XX
i find those types of indie games to be slop.
megaman still exists. you can still play it. there's no reason to make a new megaman game.
the art of gamedev has advanced decades since those games came out. what people want from games has also changed.

No longer indie
Damn. Minecraft is good but not indie anymore. Meatboy good too. Stanley Parable ruined itself. Otherwise none of those would be in my top 50 indies.

What went wrong with Harvest Moon?

Factorio
Have you tried Satisfactory
It is less complete than Factorio is but I still prefer it
Yes, but I like Factorio more.
Satisfactory's okay, though. Better than Dyson Sphere.
Vagrus. It's a very specific blend of genres that won't appeal to most people, but I love it. They also recently made the time limit optional.

Do you really have to tell everyone you're a golem in every indie thread
Also I understand why people told me not to buy the Megaman Legacy Collections from Capcom because the talent that made it are all in Inti Creates and not even making Megaman games anymore
Never heard of backpack hero or peglin. Just typed them into google images. Looks like something I will try out. Thanks!
Not a problem. Peglin is so good now with all the updates.
