Tried this out as Moscow and couldn't justify a war, immediate uninstall. I hate when mods gimp you for no reason. I can't justify war on my neighbor because...?

Yeah this mod is very larp, but beornia is fun on this mod
For me it's Victoria universalis. It does a good job of fixing the economy and the mechanics it adds makes nation building more fun and interactive. I recently finished a game where I did nothing but manage my industry. If I weren't so technologically illiterate I'd make a submod that implements those features for every other mod.
This. I played as Moscow as well and it railroads the game every step of the way. I then switched to Teheran and it's even more railroad galore. I never want to touch that mod every again especially since there is an HPM version of DOD that runs and plays infinitely better.
HPM DOD > DOD fanfork, its way too railroaded and they use I think its a PDM system? with different technologies and resources, its way too confusing for me
I had plans to play Thrones of Lorraine at one point, but unfortunately I only found out about it towards the end of my time with Victoria II. I'm simply too bored with the game for mods to spice things up for me after having done basically everything the game has to offer over a 10 year period of playing it.
Having said that, I still have a few ideas for mods I wanted to try making:
>mod that changes the base game to have fewer events, basically I wanted to remove most of the events that just gave prestige spam to certain countries like all the events Prussia/Germany gets that are just like "some philosopher figured out something, here's 5 prestige" because most countries that get them are strong enough as is and don't need the extra prestige buffs.
>mod that changes the tech trees to give you tanks much sooner so that people actually had a reason to build them. Maybe somehow tie Gettysburg: Armored Warfare references into the campaign, but people will probably hate that since no one likes cringepunk

That looks very neat at first glance, but after seeing how many mods end up having railroaded campaigns I'm kinda iffy with depending on someone else to make a mod. Despite them having a very similar premise, I really feel like the loose vision I have will only satisfy me if I make the mod myself. I'm very particular about major changes to the map being involved to truly get what I want out of this mod idea.

My homie. I only ever use Blood and Iron as It's basically vanilla+. Are there any other mods that are similar? I've never used HFM/HPM, but heard they railroad quite a bit so I'm not as interested in them.
HPM is great. It has almost no railroading.
Curiously enough HPM is the mod I consider vainilla+ or a third DLC for Vic II.

EEM, mainly. Having an extra 20 years with working techs and so on makes the Great War period feel less pointless since you have some time to work on your country afterwards. It also fixes up some other stuff like China wars.
I also enjoy regular DOD since it's a pretty well-made scenario. Not a fan of the fan fork since I get SJW vibes from it.
It's pretty much HPM+ and a submod let's you make some wacky formable nations.

I played TGC, GFM, HPM, CWE, I liked most TGC, CWE could've been better but is limited by the game itself, too much railroading and at the same time too little, world war 3 happens too often when it should barely happen

I like GFM with the fantasy formables submod, but the mod is painfully slow even on a good computer, doesn't help all new overhaul mods use it as the framework (such as Thrones of Lorraine). so HPM is still king for me but I modded some of the things I didn't like about it

As default I use crimeamod because it´s simply the best. For modern day I use CWE.
I really want to keep playing GFM but it's still in development (and apparetly will be forever) and it's slow as frick.

It's honestly a briliant idea. Other than that you could look up historical US states populations and try to emulate homesteading by directing migrants west instead of east. The Illinois area also had a huge boom in population irl V2 doesn't come close.
An option of annexing Canada is always nice.
Modeling the importance of the Erie Canal and Mississippi would be good. IRL it was the transport ability that made the Great Lakes the population center of America for a while. In V2 there's no reason to build outside of the Northeast Coast

I’ve always felt that it was strange that if the US ever occupied all of Canada in a war with the UK, they didn’t simply take it. Canada was a potential goal in both the Revolutionary war and the war of 1812, but they were beaten back both times. But if the US ever went to war over Oregon for instance I feel like they should just get all of Canada if they occupy it. Though that would definitely be a bit too exploit-y since the AI barely garrisons so I can see why people don’t make that an option very often.
The rainbow plans IRL called for permanently annexing Canada and turning it into a bunch of US states in the event of a war with the UK where the US occupied it. But the preferred plan was for Canada to be "neutral" (garrisoned by US troops as a guarantee that Britain couldn't easily ship troops over of course)

I agree. I think the solution is that if the USA takes Ontario, they unlock a decision that gives them some infamy (maybe 10) and starts a war with Canada using the Annex CB. Because Greeks just didn't identify that way. You can go all the way back to Anna Komnene and even she brags about how hellenic she is and says how she's read all the classics. That is to say, even the Byzantine Greeks themselves considered themselves Greek. It's not even a larp, Greek's ancient cultural history is just deeply popular among Greeks, even when they were also Romans.
It also doesn't even make sense in context. The Greek Revolution was a nationalist revolution, "rhomaioi" nationalism doesn't even make sense. The Roman Empire was inherently anti-nationalist.
