Undertale is the only game that belongs on this list, everything else came out after I turned 18. Earlyzoomercore is 2006-2013.

    >Cuphead
Shitty game hard carried by art style and overblown due to normies being impressed by mild difficulty
    >Persona 5
Good game but still a downgrade when compared to previous instances in the franchise, luckily most fans of the game haven't played P3 or even P4
    >Nier Automata
Masterpiece. Only contrarians dislike it. It is a very philosophical game but to this day I think the actual thesis of the game flew over most people's head, both supporters and detractors. Most discussions on the game's story and themes were centered around ideas that were mostly superficial, such as "le androids are... just the same as le robots, get it?", which are kind of a thematic red herring and have little to do with the actual ending of the game.
    >Undertale
Solid, great game. Deconstructions of game mechanics weren't new when it came out but the execution was really good. Some of the characters were pretty weak and the message could be pretty blunt at times, but overall it just works (tm). Having said all of that, I do think it is somewhat overrated.

I watched all the classic Mickey Mouse shorts from the 30s as a kid but I'm not going to rave on a game just because they imitate that style. Honestly I think the game is kinda ugly and the music is pretty uninspired. So the presentation, which is by far the strongest aspect of the game, didn't do it for me.
The story and characters are basically irrelevant.
That only leaves the gameplay itself, which is ok I guess. Again, nothing blew my mind.
Also it is pretty rich to complain about the length of an RPG while defending a platformer-shooter that vastly overstays its welcome like Cuphead.
Classic Megaman games had more charm in just a few couple levels.

I have played my fair share of games that boil down to "shoot enemy while dodging enemy bullets", Cuphead didn't impress me.
          [...]
Fair enough. I don't think that everybody must love the game, I was referring only to people who claim that it is a bad game
Combat has the issue that it relies a lot on your level. Thus when you are lower level than the enemy you barely make a dent on their health and then once you are level 99 you pretty much instakill bosses.

          >I have played my fair share of games that boil down to "shoot enemy while dodging enemy bullets", Cuphead didn't impress me.
"Played" means very little. "Cleared" means a whole lot more. You are a shitter with zero clears so your opinion isn't relevant. When you call Nier Automata a masterpiece (lol), the fricking awful opinions start to make sense.

            >When you call Nier Automata a masterpiece (lol), the fricking awful opinions start to make sense.

For real lmao. I didn't hate Nier Automata but I will literally never respect anybody that calls the game with genuinely garbage gameplay, and zero game design whatsoever, a "masterpiece" and then goes on to jerk themselves "heh...I understood le story...but most did not understand le story". This is fricking moronic. The story is not that complicated, nobody reduces it only to "le robots are humans" that's like the most obvious hammered theme from the beginning, the game isn't deep or subtle. You're just moronic lmfao Jesus Christ.

This has to be weebs right? I can only imagine weebs having THIS much...how do I put it...lack of self awareness?

Anyway. I didn't like Cuphead either. I have never played a single run and gun or whatever it's called. I just tried to engage with the level design and hated it. I don't remember why, I think I hated how rigid the shooting felt. It was like, either you only shoot at an angle, or straight forward, and that's triggered me because the levels DELIBERATELY try to annoy you with some moronic bullshit so...yeah. Games shit as far as I'm concerned. No idea why OP mentioned Cuphead instead of hollow knight, the better game anyway.

I'm honestly scratching my head trying to figure out in what sense I'm supposed to look at an area like the amusement park and think that it is "empty".
                >fetch quests
Patently false. Again did you actually play the game or did you just look at some youtube video? There's a pretty varied amount of side quests.
                >the camera
I never got any issues with it.

                >pseudointellectual snoozefest story with completely unappealing characters
In what way? Again, the fact that you can't say anything specific and instead default to super vague statements is what leads me to think that you genuinely, unironically, simply didn't get it.

This sort of complaints are the equivalent of watching a film such as The Seventh Seal and saying that it is bad because there aren't enough flashy fight scenes. The game is trying to do something rather specific and you are complaining because it isn't doing something completely different.

the philosophical shit isn't any more interesting than the "le robots are le people too???" shit, it's just summarizing the basic ideas of different existentialist philosophers, it has nothing original to say beyond sucking off camus. claiming "the actual thesis of the game flew over most people's head" is a ridiculous cope - everyone who took high school english gets it, we just didn't think it was as interesting as you did

It's not like the game is just a slideshow of wikipedia-tier introductions to different ideas.
There's a narrative upon which they are built upon, which is coherent and quite tight on the details.
All the characters are there for a purpose, they all have aspects in common, they all represent different outlooks towards a similar issue.
If you saw all that and it didn't impress you then that's fine.

    Other Zoomercore

Fnaf: Kinda mid franchise. The first few games were good, but made on a shitty outdated 2000’s engine.

Old Fnaf fan games: A lot of them aged like shit. IP + Fnaf gameplay got old quick.

Mascot horror as a whole: Primarly Slop, except for maybe Fnaf and Bendy.

    Fortnite: Just slop

Happy Wheels: One of the few flash games I play today for real.

Minecraft: Kinda got old. Don’t want to deal with Microsoft’s bullshit.

Terraria: Could not figure out what to do without 9 gorrilion resources. Also the favourite game of one of my least liked YouTubers, Reddit Guy Mask.

Dark Souls: Became the COD of Single Player Games. Also phased out the based brawler (not calling it kharcuter actuion) genre.

Hollow Knight: One of the most overrated Reddit games. While not bad, still leaves a lot to be desired. With such a big map, the character moves to slow.

Shovel Knight: Actually based 8-bit throwback. Best part was the Kratos and Battletoads Cameos.
