space invaders plus (pc engine)
also finally beat mighty final fight on nes for the first time, on my last life lol >the special wave technique you unlock after grinding to level 4 is completely useless
>Great game, play the demons
I've played as them for some time, but they seemed to have only a handful of usable units. Mountain Clans are probably hard mode due to their slow movement, but there might be some hidden trick to playing them efficiently.
Few hours in, the fan translation is pretty good, and figuring out the combo system has been very rewarding for a musical moron. Also the music is suprisingly non-earbleeding for a GBA game.
I like to play with fast monsters. If you want to give it a try, play on -skill 5 (like nightmare but without respawning monsters), -skill 3 -fast (HMP) or -skill 2 -fast (HNTR). UV fast is actually harder than nightmare in Heretic because you don't have the double ammo.
I'm trying to finish Batman Returns on Master System, I finally picked this one up after being interested in it for quite a while... and the 5th level is filtering me so hard it's genuinely ridiculous... I mean, it is the last level afterall, but it's so much longer and harder than the other ones...
An update, I give up. It's a superb title up until they decided to make the last level long and awful, I can't be bothered, the difficulty spike is just too ridiculous.

So... another update, I kept playing since I'm a sucker for Batman, Master System, Aspect and SEGA in general... and now I actually managed to beat it. Its gameplay, graphics, OST and early level design kept me from giving up, as it was just too fun, even if it's BS at the end... and there's still the Route 2 levels, hard more, I finished it on the easy one with the Route 1 levels, I definitely recommend this one, but if you aren't in the mood for classic difficulty, or NES hard as some call it, dont go for it...

Batman Returns' last level really is a pain, and its Route 2 levels are miserable, but its not too bad on the Game Gear, I'd say its more manageable and fair, also with how it differs from the Master System in mechanics, its good and both Route 1 and Route 2 are fun to play, with the challenge feeling more fair than its console version, but I'd say the Master System, Route 1 at least, is great.
I have finished 5 games this year so far:
Sonic Advance, Super Metroid, Symphony of the Night, Super Mario Bros. and Mega Man, in that order. Only Sonic Advance I have never played, the rest are all games I have not played for 10 years, at least. I have decided to replay the games I have not played for at least 10 years and throw some retro game I have never played. Right now I getting ready to start Sonic Advance 2(this one is new), Wizardry V and Dragon Quest II(will finally give the JP version a try as I have heard is harder).
Yes. I finished Mario and Mega Man today, for example. Sonic was on the first day of the year. SotN took me 5 hours to finish it, despite being years since I last played it, I still remember most of the places I had to go. As for Super Metroid, it was the one that took the longest as I hardly remember anything, in fact only the bomb blowing glass part I still remembered.
I do read a book, anon. Last year I read 100 books, for example. Also watched +100 movies (all from the 80s and below). I'm also a 32 years old university student (EE, I started late, at my 29 yo), so it's not about having too much time, it's about not wasting my free time doing nothing.
Same here Anon, but mine were shorter and a little bit easier: >Super Mario Bros. >Street Fighter 3: New Generation >Kirby's Dream Land >Super Mario Land >Capcom vs SNK 2 >Dodonpachi
I hope to play at least 100 or so games this year.
>at least 100
Last year I played like 10 games and they were all in December. I felt bad because instead of enjoying my days, I was too focused on my depression. This year I want to make it at least a little happier.
I've been on an adventure game kick, just finished the first gabriel knight game. as always playing adventure games makes me feel like a battered housewive. one moment I get hit with absolute bullshit, moonlogic, pixel hunting, unintuitive command parsing, this makes me check out of and halfheartedly attempt ensuing puzzles that actually would have been reasonable and clever if I had it in me to give them a fair shake. one thing I will say is that any game not having walk and investigate as the default left and right click is inexcusable. no reason not to have that when they're 90% of the interactions you're going to perform.
Fallout 2, always thought it was the tryhard sequel to Fallout 1's pure moodfest. Wasn't ready for it to hit me with all this beautiful grit, I can see why its the one that get's obsessed over now.
How does the Japanese version compare to English? I liked this as a kid but never had a memory card, actually playing it for the first time since back then now and having a lot of fun
Thanks to the Japanese devs releasing the game in English first, the Japanese version is actually the one that gets some upgrades. >Small visual things like the octagons actually being full circles. >Bigger visual things like the main character glowing a colored light whenever you get a stat increase, and the type of color telling you which stat was increased. >Gameplay changes like defeating a boss increasing both your HP and MP instead of just your HP >You can actually place markers on the map and see them on the compass while running around >One of the bigger gameplay changes is that the Japanese version actually has critical hits >A few story-related changes >And regarding story, the fact that the Japanese version actually has a full-on ending with cutscenes and dialogue
So, I'd say the Japanese version has quite a few nice changes. Also, you don't need a controller pak to save the game. You can save on the cartridge as well.
Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater. Played through the ps3 hd version first, mostly non lethal. I am currently downloading the 3ds version to try it out. I know the frame rate on that one blows but the gameplay differences and promise of 3d cutscenes really make me wanna try it.
Civilization II.
Elevator action returns
Cotton boomerang
Maybe something else but ive spent time with them this week.
>Elevator action returns
Which version should I play? Arcade or Saturn?
anons got me to replay Halo CE
rocket flood can chug my nuts
Super Puzzle Fighter
Breath of Fire (SNES)
space invaders plus (pc engine)
also finally beat mighty final fight on nes for the first time, on my last life lol
>the special wave technique you unlock after grinding to level 4 is completely useless
Does Tales of the Abyss count?
I just started that game too! What do you think of it so far?
my copy actually had the CD break while in the desktop. Great game, play the demons

Final Fantasy 3, actually started playing it New Years Eve. Almost done with it. Only got optional stuff to do before going to Kefka's tower.

saturn bomberman
Link to the Past
Silent Hill, I'm playing for the first time many PSX classics thanks to my Chinese retro device.
Tomb Raider (PlayStation version emulated on DuckStation)
Fortnite

Metal Gear Solid for the first time
but I'm stuck in prison
Metroid NES
Super Mario World.
I'm planing to play it soon because I didn't finish Mario 2D platformers as a child (maybe SMB3?).
Right now I'm replaying Heretic.
>Heretic
Been a long time since I played it, maybe i'll give it a go this weekend. I would right now but i'm too tired from work to focus on anything.
I've been playing Herzog Zwei. Completed 4 levels so far on the A difficulty.
XCOM, modded.
Frick Men in Black. Backstabbing b***hes.
None so far, I have friends
Steal your game back
I have plans for megaman, earthworm jim, conta, metal slug, super star wars, indiana and its sequels.
Solid choices. Don't let Indiana Jones and the temple of doom slip through your fingers. It's janky, but once you understand the jank, it's a blast.
Played it when it came out, just finished 2nd playthru 17 years later.
Streets of Rage 2

Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War, with Thracia 776 planned for after.
Dracula's Curse is so fricking good

If you have that much time to play videogames maybe you should buy a book.

Yoshi's Island, liking much more this time around. First time I played it was 5 or 6 years ago
Just finished a replay of Max Payne, though I started before New Year's.
Play the gameboy port
Based so did i. Finished a day or so before christmas
Mostly just basic Sonic 1 and SMB1 so far
Metroid prime 2 Echos. Having fun

was pretty gud
That's pretty impressive. Not impossible since enemies can help refill health but the LVL 1 swords suck ass.
What game, anon?
Onimusha: Warlords
Fallout 2, always thought it was the tryhard sequel to Fallout 1's pure moodfest. Wasn't ready for it to hit me with all this beautiful grit, I can see why its the one that get's obsessed over now.
I got a HORI N64 controller a few days ago and tested it out on the last game that was still in my N64.

Legend of Zelda Minish Cap
it's pretty good but kinda twee.

Replay Parasite Eve. Maybe I'll get around to playing 2 someday.
I bought KOF 98 and 2002 on sale on my PS5, so those.
Tiny Toon Adventures Busters Bust Loose for the SNES.
I bought it for $10 from a retro video game store
I also bought Super Adventure Island
Mario 2 JP. Tryna master it and get as many 1UP flagpoles as I can.
Shadow Warrior Classic
Blood, just finished it a few hours ago. It was good but the later episodes were really overshadowed by the first 2.
Probably going to be Streets of rage one
legion for amiga
This one. I hadn't played it before. Can't get the Tower of Dolls theme out of my head now.
