I feel like I don't dislike most designs until about Gen VII-ish, though I do feel a number of them started to become off around Gen IV and V. Even then, I feel like there are a number of later Gen designs that are pretty cool.

Coalossal's been my least favorite since I've first seen it just because of how fricking let down I was with the final evolution. I imagine it's how diehard Dratini/Dragonairgays felt when seeing Dragonite for the first time. I don't even think its the worst design in the series, because it just looks like a shitty Rhydon clone and Rhydon is great and the honor of "worst Pokemon design" goes to either one of two most recent water type starters, but it's definitely the most let down I've ever been with a Pokemon, it being close to the announcement of dexcut didn't make it any better either.
I also think Pokemon design quality has strictly decreased in quality with each generation and I don't really care if that makes me sound like a genwunner.

Gen one had a great deal of Rhydon clones (Rhydon, Nido lines, Kangis) which gunwunners proclaim to be because Rhydon is the quintessential "Pocket Monster" and that it was a design element intended to be consistent with pokemon but dropped by gen 2.
