I remember my brother playing Tibia up to 12 hours in a row daily, always going on these moronic quests and "meeting" virtual friends. He also tried to teach Swedish guys (the most popular group next to Polish and Brazilian players) how to swear in Polish and those Swedes sometimes said "spierdalaj mać" on the chat lol. And his classmate was so addicted that he was nicknamed "Tibia-man", it was a miracle that he passed to the next class despite poor attendance, because he had to play Tibia.
>"Tibia-man"
It's "tibijczyk", polaczku. >Tibia up to 12 hours
As if burgers weren't playing wow for 30+ hours straight pissing in jugs and shitting in socks.
wouldnt have been too bad if you could make meaningful progress and exploration in a reasonable amount of time, but actual skill growth, power, items, and economy are gated behind literal thousands of hours of play and idle training.
In some ways nice, but overally just a bit not smooth enough, the GUI for instance is a bit overwelming (not as much as most MMOs mind you) and thing like picking up objects could have been made more smoothly.
As it stands it's okay, but I still think Runescape (not modern day Runescape of course) still is the best blueprint for how MMOs should be
Literal zoomers. Holy shit.
full gear drop at death was its defining game mechanic for me
death had harsh consequences other games didn't have
it literally generated gang behavior in game
This. The Mafia/Feudal structure was essential to the game. It's sad it has been neutered, really. That's what the first zoomer doesn't understand, that there's a genuine sense of accomplishment and loss.
If everything is handed to you, it won't have any value in the game. You can already see that by all the level 300-2000s in the game. That was ridiculous even in OTs back in the day.
You're a zoomer because you can't invest yourself in anything if the numbers don't go up fast enough and don't give you a piece of candy every now and then to remind you that you're a good boy and that it's all worth it.
Grinding is a hard problem to solve for any MMORPG, and Tibia has done an ok at making it less so by introducng the XP rate modifiers. The downside is that you now have to time manage rather than grind.
Keep in mind that grinding is a decision the player makes. You're not forced to do it. Tibia developed this way through players who grinded the few mobs that existed back in the day, exchanging their time and effort for power in the game. Old Tibia was not designed for powerleveling and that becomes obvious by the low amount of hunting grounds compared to the player base there used to be.
the place is massive and most of it you cant even access without autistically dedicating thousands of hours to build your character. level 100 can barely scratch the surface of content. getting to the point where 1 constant ingame hour of afk "training" equals 1% towards next skill level is like the baseline for "decent".
its not about being a zoomer, its about not being a lifeless autist. on top of that, its not even that good of a game. when i quit playing, hardly anybody had reached 300, and the game was still huge. i dont give a frick how many people have reached 300 or even 2000 now, 15 years later. them having 15 years of autism is not an argument.

I don't want to hunt three hours a day to burn stamina, and I don't want to spend all weekend hunting during events. I'd rather do anything else in the world.
true, i played from 7.2 to 7.6, then i got hacked (probably for using tainted bots) on the day cipsoft launched 7.8 which was also the same version they made a major sprints upgrade and changed the outfits, so i ragequit and deleted my acc, i had a lvl 80ish, which isn't considered much now but it was considered mid to high lvl back then, remember this was in 2006 iirc and the global top player was still in the low 200s, i don't remember if it was still bubble or eternal oblivion, and it was one of the best decisions i have ever made, i started focusing on school more
I think it's UMA DÉLICIA
kurwa

poorgay's first MMO
Some smelly friends I had played it back in the day. MMOs were and are kinda gross.

>no retort, just OO-buzzword calling
maybe Reddit is more your thing
You're the reason games turn into microtrans shit
>strawmannig AND projecting
lmao, you have zero argument against how long it takes to make progress because its an objective fact.

peak was a 7.6
auto target and bots ruined it
