what's your opinion on this?
just collected all 3 pearls and i am doing this temple of the gods thing. at this point i am not sure if i will keep playing. the puzzles are generally pretty easy, so are the enemies, exploration is a chore, the wind instrument doesnt sound good and is no fun to use, the rewards for doing sidequests seems to be mostly rupees which a lot of times i couldnt carry anyway since my limit was already reached. i like the art style but it has no sovl.
a lot of the charm from the first two 3D zeldas came from the weird characters and dark atmosphere, which is completely gone in nu-zelda. instead it's just the same old "you are the chosen one, now save the damsel in distress" trope.
It's fine, if unfinished.
Best Zelda game until BOTW/TOTK
playing a Zelda for dungeons or puzzles is wrong
Filtered and even Zelda the series says now that you aren't who they want playing, quit the game b***h, no one cares
You already played the good parts.
>enjoys the three worst 3D Zeldas
At least you're consistent.
>playing a Zelda for dungeons or puzzles is wrong
what am i playing it then for? the story is the same as always and the characters arent interesting
alright, thanks!
what's up with nintendo trying to include modern technology in zelda games? i hate that.
>what's up with nintendo trying to include modern technology in zelda games? i hate that.
Nintendo loves hardware gimmicks. If that bothers you steer way frickin clear of the DS ones.
The only b***h here is you, b***h
Well the Earth and Wind Temple are not good but frick the Triforce quest, you probably wouldn't want to beat the game either way
It is still worth finishing.
It is even more fun with a friend sitting next to you with the Tingle Tuner.
It's boring
the wii u version is significantly improved so I hope you're playing that.
I quit when it was time to collect the 200 pieces of the tri force on the gamecube.
i read about the improvements, the biggest one seems to be that they cut one of the last quests noticably shorter.
i dont get why anyone thought it would be a fun mechanic for the player to go to every square of the map and feet the same fish some bait and talk to it so you can actually see the area in your menu, there is no way i am gonna do that 50 times.
nope.
song of storms is 10/10. is it only in majoras mask or did they already have it in OoT as well?
anyway, both their soundtracks are amazing. i really enjoy the audio of those games. much less so with the windwaker. the wind instrument sounds like shit and it's annoying to use.
noted, thanks.
it just feels out of place in a game like zelda.
the art style is nice but it cant compare to MM/OoT. too bad that the new zelda games went with a cartoon-y art style once again. there is just something about gloomy zelda that works a lot better. it's more akin to irish folk tales with all their weirdness.
>is it only in majoras mask or did they already have it in OoT as well?
It's the fricking windmill theme you fricking zoomer god damnit shut the frick up. Wind Waker is still better.
i played the game when it originally came out, neckbeard. i am just more familier with MM because i enjoyed it a lot more.
you only actually have to do it 8 times, also
>the game giving me a reason to explore the world is... le bad
the same people complaining about having to hunt down 8 triforce shards are the ones that praise BotW and TotK's "meaningful content" like collecting 900 korok turds
he didn't mention skyward sword though
>he didn't mention skyward sword though
You're right, he didn't.
having to update the map that 50 times is tedious. there is no fun in that. the task itself is boring, it doesnt give me a reason to explore. what gives a me a reason to explore are the areas themselves, not having to feed fish over and over and over and over again.
I loved it to death but admit the triforce hunt can be pretty slow. It still has the best music of any zelda.
Love it's art style, the dungeons are pretty good too.
Feed the fish and talk to people, find the great fairies that upgrade your wallet, and find the special Beedle ship and do some auctions so your rupees don't get sent to the ether.
my fav zelda game
Good idea, rushed execution. Wind Waker isn't half the game it deserved to be, it's stuck between being worse OoT and a quarter-hearted attempt to be Zelda 1 on sea. Neither side is done well.
Zelda puzzles have always been pic related, including in dungeons.
Guys this was never all that much of a challenge, I'm not sure who you're trying to kid. These games were always about exploration first.
>These games were always about exploration first.
That stopped being the case around Link's Awakening.
Links Awakening is highly explorable. It's loaded with side content.
It also streamlines things to be solved in a relatively linear sequence. It's a very well designed brand of linearity and many later Zeldas fall short of its standards regarding natural intuition, but you can see the strings tightening that far back.
To be fair it was also an original GB game. People forget how small and basic those had to be. LA was enormous for the platform.
For sure, and I want to stress that it's still a great game. But the design sensibility was different from what came before it, it felt like you were solving the world one dedicated chunk at a time, and that carried into the N64 Zeldas (especially MM) and the Oracles before WW gave it all up and just started implementing story gating tactics. I will say that OoT's adult parts do give you some more wiggle room at least.
You've been mindbroken by Wind Waker and Twilight Princess.
Everyone brings up the sailing, but I felt the dungeons were the shittiest part of Wind Waker. They're more brain dead than ever and due to being rushed, it never even remotely ramps up in difficulty. The boss rush was pathetic.
The game in general is just shit.
Sailing is cozy, but not really hitting any mechanical gold standards in regards to overworld traversal. It's a more complicated Epona and for not enough payoff. There is some with the naval combat and treasure charts, but it could've gone further to justify the change in setting.
'Hoy, small fry!
Played once as a kid and once as an adult, could never finish it. Got stuck twice in the makar temple.
Did you try hookshotting the statue, while wearing the iron boots?
I think so, I was just confused on where to go in the giant centre room.
And I have zero, so it was impossible
Wind Temple is the only time WW asks the player to express any navigational competence.
I have no opinions. Just glad that zelda pulled itself out of that ten year long rut. 2d games are exempt from this. Except the ds games, they sucked.
>MM and Oracles in the dark age
Nope.
Both great games that are exempt. Zelda simply was not special during the gamecube/wii eras. I'm glad it's back to being a top series again.
>you are the chosen one
That's literally the opposite of what wind waker is but okay. It is by no means a perfect game, but if it has too much of anything, it's soul.
he said that was what nu zelda was not wind waker
>nu-zelda
