came here to say this. it's been so weird watching opinions on it turn around lately, with people treating it like it was some great addition that needs to come back. EVERYONE thought this shit was lame in 2013.
you literally weren't there if you think that's bait
I didn't browse vp back in 2013, but from what I recall everybody on the internet loved Megas back then
It's the most well received gimmick by a long mile
>I didn't browse vp back in 2013
i did, people were basically treating it like the last nail in the coffin for the series. it was where pokémon jumped the shark, they went too far, etcetera. legitimate doomposting. i still kind of see it through that lens so the change in public opinion has been very jarring for me, although i can't say i'm exactly bothered by it anymore now that it's just a forgotten gimmick and wasn't a permanent change. these days i'm just salty about the mons it screwed out of much needed evolutions, like mawile. glad only one of my favs got one.

Damn, thank god we didn’t end up in the doomposting timeline, where they need to keep going more and more over the top with battle gimmicks trying to redo mega evolutions.

Gen 1 was good and all and I was alive for Pokemania's peak in the 90s, but I really don't care about any of the original 151 Pokemon. I didn't really have a favorite as a kid and except for Togepi, which is only sometimes considered a Kanto Pokemon by virtue of being in the anime before it was in the games.

probably hoenn? there's a decently sized stretch of "beat gym, walk to next gym" with no little side beats involving team aqua/magma, rival stuff, or just anything to break up the monotony
Yeah, the games do generally get better. Yes the new ones have performance issues, but the gameplay is iterative. It's the same game with QoL additions and balance changes (power creep is real too though).
Didn’t think The Power of Us was a great Pokemovie. Callaghan was an annoying blowhard, the character animation was stiff, big plot hole in the third act and Ash has no backstory. Also wasn’t moved by what happened to Snubbull. One of my least favorite Pokémon.
I never get why people use shiny Pokémon just because they're shiny
I mean, if I find a shiny of a Pokémon I don't like I'm sure as hell never using him
>RBY is better than FRLG >Mega Evolution sucks balls >ORAS is still very fun even if a letdown compared to HGSS >BW was right to limit old Pokemon to the post-game.
Ghost can be chalked up to general Gen 1 tank and them still working under the single-player JRPG assumption that bug Pokemon are "supposed to be bad". But Fairy is long after they abandoned that philosophy and was even the perfect opportunity to give Bug the exact buff it needed to be a, if not good, at least useful type.
I never found pokemon's battle system fun enough to enjoy battle frontier or competitive. For me it has always been a basic JRPG with a collecting element. As such I find alternate takes to the franchise like Legends Arceus very welcome.
On that note. I really could not care less about the combination of Roxie and toxtricity people loves to yap about which recently happened in Pokemon Masters finally and ended up being one of the worst selling pairs of all time, which gave me a good chuckle.
Mega Evolutions always sucked

I loved my shiny mega charizard Y
probably my favorite mon ever
I don't give a shit about the Battle Frontier.
Children whose first Pokemon games were Sun/Moon and haven't played anything that came before.
I started with Ruby. Cope.

These too
Dexnav is not a fun mechanic.
The Battle Frontier was overrated
I do not care for Charizard or Blaziken
Pokemon Snap. It's so fricking boring, I will never understand why people like it

probably hoenn? there's a decently sized stretch of "beat gym, walk to next gym" with no little side beats involving team aqua/magma, rival stuff, or just anything to break up the monotony
Completing the dex lmao
>not catching 'em all
MOOOOOOODDDDSSSSSSSSS
I do not care for Dragon types
emerald's battle frontier is vastly, VASTLY overrated
emerald as a whole is vastly overrated, in fact
this except replace "emerald" with "platinum"
BW1’s gen5-only dex. Most of the designs are pure dogshit
Pokemon Special is better than the Ashnime is my Moneypit answer.
>Pokemon Special
it insists upon itself
The games are good. Even the ones you hate.

I don't care for sinnoh. I've tried to give it a chance so many times but the hms and dex just kill it for me.
RSE and ORAS both weren't that great. Hoenn is just a boring region.
I never liked the battle tower.

All opinions discarded
I don't care about shinies. There are dozens of methods to force a spawn and most just insert them anyway, Most just look worse than their OG palette.
In a way I agree, but Metagross' shiny should have been its standard coloration.
I did not care for Platinum
I did not care for BW2
Gens 2 and 9 are the only gens without bad starters.
I did not care for gen 3 at all
Didn’t think The Power of Us was a great Pokemovie. Callaghan was an annoying blowhard, the character animation was stiff, big plot hole in the third act and Ash has no backstory. Also wasn’t moved by what happened to Snubbull. One of my least favorite Pokémon.
I never cared for ash and his arc should've ended in like season 2 or 3
Agreed.
I didn't care for Pokemon Mystery Dungeon
>inb4 "WH-WHAT!?"
>"You d-didn't care...?"
>"For Pokemon Mystery Dungeon?!"
>flashback to me saying how I didn't care for Pokemon Mystery Dungeon
I love PMD but your post is spot on.
I never get why people use shiny Pokémon just because they're shiny
I mean, if I find a shiny of a Pokémon I don't like I'm sure as hell never using him
Platinum didn't do enough to fix the dumpster fire that was DP and is just a mediocre game
>ip don’t go up
lol
schizo
Platinum's Battle Frontier was better than Emerald's. You cannot tell me with a straight face that the Palace and Pike were good
hgss are terrible remakes that addressed none of the problems the originals had while ruining hooh and lugia.
the originals don’t have issues
>new mons aren't even available in johto
>worst level curve in the series
>terrible distribution of pokemon
>kanto is barebones
none of those are issues
None of the gens are different enough to be better or worse than another
>I do not care about charizard.
Silver having a Crobat in the HGSS postgame was a far more meaningful way of showing character development than anything from the Switch and 3DS era
This. Also Ghetsis' Hydreigon having Frustration with 0 friendship is a cool touch too.
Following pokemon adds nothing to the game for me
I didn't care for the physical/special split.
I did not care for the return of following pokemon. Mostly because they bastardized it, but wasn't a fan nonetheless.
>RBY is better than FRLG
>Mega Evolution sucks balls
>ORAS is still very fun even if a letdown compared to HGSS
>BW was right to limit old Pokemon to the post-game.
Fairy types did not nerf Dragon types. They just made Fighting and Dark types worse.
Ive been saying this for years too brother. Don't forget hurting Bug, though its not like going from last place to "still last place" means that much.
I have no idea why Fairy and Ghost resist Bug. DHJ4G

I do not care for the competitive scene at all.
pokestar studios was fun. frick you, i said it.
Diamond and Pearl aren't good. (Though I'm undecided on Platinum since I haven't done a complete playthrough yet)
Clefairy.
No, seriously, those little pink frickers from space are stupid.
the one with the deoxys that was drawn by a footgay artist
Steel types
Smogon/Showdown ruined competitive Pokemon.
I don't play competitive Pokemon but I find their RNG articles, calculator, and analysis useful.
Shinies and Megas
I disliked black and white when they originally came out. I only got to the part where you can get victini and then I quit.
It's fine, but I really don't feel the love around Toxtricity.
it was made for the ladies
On that note. I really could not care less about the combination of Roxie and toxtricity people loves to yap about which recently happened in Pokemon Masters finally and ended up being one of the worst selling pairs of all time, which gave me a good chuckle.
family guy is shit so this memes basis is irreverent
