I wanted an original GBA, but this SP was in much better condition than any model I saw listed while not being much more expensive. I have to say, I hate the ergonomics. I can't hold it without my fingers touching each other on the back and it's a little uncomfortable. From my experience, I seem to have slightly smaller hands than most guys. It's still better than no GBA, though.

GB Micro unranked because this is the best or worst shit depending on your gorilla hands (i'd personally rank it in the middle, no gb(color) games is a dealbreaker despite the god tier form factor)

I think XLs are kings for everything from screen size, battery life and resolution. 2DS is a budget non-flippable alternative if 3D doesn't matter to you and I think the battery life is a bit better as well. I can't note the quality of 3D for the models over time, my OG model has a broken charger, but going off memory the 3D was cool and worked well enough.
But I also had an XL before I sold it for dumb reason, but it also had fine 3D that worked. There might be slight differences in that area where you might need youtube comparisons from non-influencer autists that actually talk about tech.
SP is objectively better in every way
Most pre-SP games weren't developed with a backlight in mind and their colors can look fricked on it.

I had Advance and it was difficult to use when it was dark but in hindsight a bigger screen is better
I had and liked my gba as a kid, but as a grown man there's no reason to use it over an sp
if you went from og gb to the gba it wasn't anything you weren't used to
Clamshell is ideal for handhelds. Can toss it a backpack without having to worry about it
