I just started doing Bozja relic, should I do Paladin or Gunbreaker relic any why (in your opinion?). I like both classes and the appearance but I feel like Paladin is just a better tank overall.
Really depends what you think looks cooler and would like to use more often, since you won't be worrying about the relic for stats or anything. All 4 tanks are fine, drk probably most popular for savage and war for casual things, pick what you like most.
Also look at some of the older relics and see if you like those - GNB only has shb relics while PLD has arr/hw/sb as well, so if you're up for multiple grinds you might decide on that.

Id have quit in Shadowbringers if it weren't for my friends and statics. They ruined every job with changes trying to cater to the lowest common denominator. Every change they make is a net negative for the game its insane.
I first started playing at the tail-end of ARR, circa december 2011. The best times for me was clearing through HW. I quit playing permanently before I even got to the endgame in EW.

Most mmos start you off by doing combat quests, for example. In FFXIV you hardly get a chance to play your character during the MSQ whatsoever. Endwalker was like 30 hours of movies and 3 hours of gameplay.

Never played Tera but I played BDO and the main story quest also just funnels you through the story and has tons of talking and dialogue so I don't really get what you are saying.

Correct, the MSQ offers very little opportunity to actually play your character. It's mostly watching movies. Watch someone do a cutscene skip playthrough and you'll notice that it's all just spamming textboxes and walking between NPCs.

I've played the entire MSQ, I'm just not in denial about it. The vast majority of quests are just clicking on NPCs to watch movies. There are very few overworld quests with gameplay.

I came back to do the patch content but man I haven't had the drive to do anything group related.
Finished Endwalker and got kinda burned out. Might come back for Island Sanctuary if it looks interesting.
I really feel bummed out by EW, but it's hard to explain. I liked the story, I like Meteion, Hermes, Amon, I like that Zodiark isn't the final boss, I like the Loppritts even though their introduction could've been shorter for pacing reasons, etc. I'm not a vet, only started in 4.05, but I don't really enjoy the direction the game is headed. I don't like that you aren't truly synced and every expansion, old content gets easier and easier because your flat base stats grow.
I used to run all roulettes that weren't MSQ almost every day I logged on for all of SB, but stopped in SHB because bosses were dying quicker and I was seeing less of their attacks, mobs died quicker meaning it didn't feel like I needed to even look at what GCDs I was using, and this didn't just apply to dungeons which were already easy, but trials and alliance raids as well. Clearing Ozma in alliance roulette with two parties dead didn't feel like victory by the skin of but teeth, but rather the game giving up on anything that wasn't on-patch content by SHB.
And the worst part is when I realized people who started in ARR must've been feeling the same way when I started.
Because Endwalker finished the story, and I'm happy to leave my WoL in the patch that was 50% just a date with Y'Shtola

-Restarted on ARR (can't remember date but i recall it was a Lightning Returns event at that time and that's how I got that hairstyle instead of mogstation)
-Most FCs I joined were raidtards (I didn't clear Thormarch EX at that time but no one in the hardcore raiding FC had the balls to help me out or at least join a party but demanded from me to have it cleared in order to join their Second Coil Savage progs. FC disbanded because they got filtered on the second boss irrc) or RPlosers which wanted a full background story of my character or something.
-Joined a casual FC and once per week we did an EX/SVG prog/clear/farm event. We kept those till Stormblood
-Stormblood's content draught filtered FC so the active players moved to a new one
-Not frequent prog/clear/farm parties but they were there
-Repeat on SHB's content draught days
-Now here
I don't hate the game, it has ups and downs, thankfully I take my time leveling everything up to 90, doing beast tribe quests or side quests. Mount farms, achievement runs (tank mounts) and maybe I'll start taking solo content (deep dungeons) more seriously. It's hard to recommend it to a friend tho because ARR, one friend managed to get to HW thanks to free trial but if he had to pay for that he said he wouldn't do that. Early game sucks and I wish they will improve it so others can have fun. It doesn't affect me tbh how mundane or not early levels are because I'm throught it

There's basically no dungeon in the game where this is possible unless you have an undergeared tank. It's really just a few ARR ones where you have to make small pulls rather than sprinting to the wall like usual.
Some of the leveling dungeon can be pretty brutal, like Bardam's Mettle.
The final trash pull in Mt. Gulg can be pretty spicy if you're wall to walling it.

The playerbase from ARR onwards just being WoWgays in all but name and game made me realize I wasted my time. The gameplay is atrocious and the story was the only thing keeping me there. I liked Chaos more than Doom Train as a first tier fight, but DT was the last time it felt like they experimented heavily with fight design. Most of SHB was just proteans and partners.
I also really liked darkness from eden and the dog fight from asphodelos. Those fights that use the arena for mechanics are always fun
when they allocated 75% of housing slots to FCs so I lost the lottery to one of the forty other bidding for the same large plot

in ffxiv dealing with mechanics is limited to understanding what mechanic is coming, organically based off of visual queues that you need to pay attention to, and then simply moving to the correct position to avoid the mechanic. there’s no fast reactions or dps/hps throughput checks associated with the mechanic, it’s just move and you’re done. the difficulty of ffxiv encounters comes with memorizing the order of abilities and responding to each tell correctly, when a plug in just tells you what to do virtually all of the difficulty is gone
in wow when dbm tells you a mechanic is coming soon you still have to quickly react to where it is randomly placed, who it targets, etc. you have to burst heal/dps in response to mechanics, no pull of the boss is exactly the same as another

Raiders don't constitute even 10% of the playerbase. Casual players didn't lose any content either as it was just ARR with a higher level cap. If anything they got more weekly content cause of NM raids and the Token system. So to reiterate you Black folk can't bring yourself to blame the devs for nearly killing their own game or are you saying ARR/HW players were majority raiders that just so happened to get filtered by a instance that was easier than Ifrit's MSQ trial?
Both hardcore and casuals got something with Alexander. With the standard dungeon and side content for the time released the hard core raiders got Savage to keep the difficulty of Coils while casuals got Story Mode for their own raid content and gear that didn't need an autistic grind. As in any game Casuals vastly outnumber Hardcore players. So if Hardcore players raged at worst they threatened the raiding scene but that wouldn't threaten the game's life. To nearly kill the hand would require ticking off casuals. How would A4S threaten the happiness of casuals?
Hardcore players are the most important ones for MMOs, they're the ones who keep giving all of their money to the devs and keep the game alive.

Probably mostly the checkpoint which I can understand, progging E8S second phase only to wipe and then be thrown back to the start to do Light Rampant, Adds and the transformation Cutscene again and again does get a little tiring.
Honestly I don't want to imagine progging E12S and P4S without checkpoint, having to do Lion/Pinax every time would get pretty annoying.

its what we call bosses that change form after you beat them down to a certain health percentage. door specifically because you get a checkpoint for passing that threshold and the 2 phases are entirely different fights. effectively, there are 5 savage bosses in some tiers because of this

Halfway into SB main expansion content, I just got burned out because there was so much story. I really enjoyed ARR and HW though, but SB just turned into a massive slog. Also, I didn't really like the main characters (scions) and felt that each expansion had minor characters who were much more interesting and compelling, but these characters tended to get killed off.

Name a single videogame that doesn't boil down to a finite loop of content. Are there games out with hard AI NPCs and real-time generated unique content that I'm not aware of.
it's the lack of variety in content, you interact with every dungeon the same way (they are purposefully designed to all be exactly the same), same for trials, and this is content you are pretty much forced to interact with daily through roulettes. it gets incredibly stale
every other mmo i have played has significant variety in things you can do OR how you can go about doing them. ffxiv just has a very rigid content structure that you will only interact with the way they intend you to
for "side content" it's all incredibly low effort and building upon bad established systems like crafting (literally just autoclick a macro for hours) but they put a cool looking outfit or mount as the carrot on a stick so people do it.
also to add to this, you might have noticed most FCs have huge amounts of inactive players because there is NOTHING to do with a group of people that isn't raiding or roleplay.

I'm literally having a hard time finding time to do extra content in FFXIV.
Currently trying to solo deep dungeons and doing firmament crafting doesn't even let me raid or do my daily dungeon.

FFXIV is the mmo with the most variety of content out there, on wow all you do is dailies and that's about it, because they never focused on other content. On other mmo's they either have side content or raiding, but never both.
We are literally getting a new deep dungeon, animal crossing island and mythic dungeons next patch, not to mention I still haven't done half of Eureka or gone hard on PVP.

Depends on what you mean by endgame, and I think there's plenty of stuff to do. In the end savage raiding is basically its own minigame too, and the gear you get out from it isn't that impactful outside of it.
Basically content that's challenging and rewarding but doesn't require me to deal with premades or statics.
