It's the worst Ultimate I've ever done. I seriously was just wishing for it to be over. The other anon is right Phase 5 is the fricking static killer either you are in a tight friend group and you're all decent at the game (which is my case) or you opt to use ACT cactbot, which for this ultimate, I don't even fricking frown at that.
It's clear it was untested and it's clear that it was a rushed fight. They could've delayed it until after the last raid tier and it'd probably would've been fine however that doesn't fix the fact that it's bland and boring.

ACT has undoubtedly been used in every single world first. Cheats have been used since before stormblood. The catcbot issue first happened with ultimate alex. Raiders don't want hard fights, they want to say they can beat hard fights and everything in between there being a hard fight and beating it is literally irrelevant. You don't curb addon use by having "better fights" and implying otherwise is completely moronic.

Seriously, people coped to themselves about justifying using plugins for Titan gaols. As soon as there's any friction they just want an easy way out. I've seen phase 6 in TOP a few times now and I'm still having a good time, but my group is good company and I've never once felt the need to use plugins.

The problem is twofold; if everyone is canonically the Warrior of Light, that means everyone is stuck roleplaying more or less the same archetypal character, while at the same time players would be limited in what portrayals they can pursue. It's like being handed a blank cheque to design any character you want and you're forced to play the cardboard cutout manlet.
Downside is that a significant number of roleplayers are also degenerates that don't actually care to pursue narrative or character development/design, as evidenced by some of the absolute BOGG'd character mods.
Roleplaying on any MMO is fricking cringe anyway; you're stuck in a closed off sandpit with no way to actually change the world around you. Real shit is running pirate servers of your preferred MMO and running it however you like, allowing anyone to have real stakes in the world/story.

There's a lot of chronic issues with trying to roleplay in an MMO, enough that I don't see the point personally. You can literally play decades old MUDs or games like NWN 1 where you get to play a character you make, doing things you want to do, in a world you impact. MMO roleplay to me just strikes me as playing pretend, but squared since roleplay is already that.

She slipped G'raha into the MSQ with the excuse of "oh he's actually from the future so Crystal Tower raids aren't required ;)" but then because of how 5.3 played out they had to be required anyway.

I don't know if it was the story being shit, the overstimulation from mods destroying the game or the content itself being so formulaic but every patch this expansion has had just has me feeling numb. My QoL mods are just Namingway for BLM, WHM and RDM spell names, chat bubbles, and Price Insight, and even those minor things are things I notice immediately when they're gone and make a big fat frown when they're gone. Coincidentally I don't think "devs lazy *dabs*" really works for any of those things and why they're not implemented vanilla.

Then this game is doubly made for you! It's aimed to be highly accessible to newbies, morons and veterans alike. It's not very compatible with people that think they're too smart for the MMOs they play like the other guy you're talking to though.
Game has excellent music and its story is pretty good by MMO standards, but the base game is a fairly slow start. I recommend playing the free trial and seeing if you're a good fit for it. Pick Conjurer as your starting class if you want to be a healer, Gladiator or Marauder if you want to be a tank, or Pugilist if you want to be a DPS. These upgrade to White Mage, Paladin, Warrior, and Monk respectively, and you can unlock all jobs on one character and switch between them as you like.
It's WoW but even more vapid. Carried entirely by its story and music.

i finally unsubbed after 6.3 dropped and it feels like i'm not missing out on anything at all when i read what's in the 6.4 content. the only place in the game where they actually want to surprise and shock the player is in the story but there's so little excitement or innovation for any other part of the game. really hope that yoship is serious when he said there was going to be huge changes with the game with 7.0 and beyond, but it's also going to take a lot more than just shinier graphics, fixed netcode or remaking the ARR zones into being like the expansion zones to get me back

Bard's have an oGCD esuna on a cool down. shake it off is a raidwide shield and regen
I could have sworn it also had a 'removes one detrimental effect' thing baked in, but maybe that's just my Etrian Odyssey brain connecting WARs to Landsknechts who have a bind removal skill.
It had that effect back when it was added on SB release, but that got removed when it got turned into a party wide shield in 4.1.
Shake it off puts a shield, heals and gives you a regen.
Tbf I wouldn't be suprised if the esuna effect is implemented in Shake it off since it already does almost everything.
It's broken in dungeons so who cares.
